Truman Silvers
Mr. Truman Silvers, age 83, passed away Sept. 24, 2004 at Mountainside Medical Center. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Sara and Michael Chumley and Elizabeth and Johnny Brock, all of Jasper; sisters-in-law, Azzie Lee Silvers of Cartersville and Bonnie Silvers of Canton; grandchildren, Lana and Marty Callahan, Tommy and Gwen Chumley, Tina Chumley and Jason Brock; great-grandchildren, Joe Chumley, Abbey and Claire Callahan;
many nieces and nephews; two care-givers, Tammy and Rachel Howard; and many, many friends also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26 from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles O. Walker officiating.Interment followed in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Dainus and
Cary Silvers, Rembert and David Stewart, Jennings Young and Terrell Cantrell. Honorary pallbearers: ROMEO Club.
Basil Holcombe
Mr. Basil Holcombe, age 74 of Waleska, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004 at his residence.
Mr. Holcombe was a retired vice president of Cherokee Federal Savings and Loan. He was a deacon and charter member of Heritage Baptist Fellowship. Mr. Holcombe was a member of the Kiwanis, Jaycees and former treasurer
of Waleska First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Holcombe of Waleska; daughters, Sharon Pappas of Arvada, Co., Gina Mitchell of Canton and Gwen Tatum of Ball Ground; step-children, Robin McDonnell and Todd Nunnally; brother, Coy
Holcombe of Ball Ground; sister, Hazel Wyatt of Atlanta. Seven grandchildren and five step-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 from Heritage Baptist Fellowship Church with the Revs. J.R. Huddlestun and Nathan Brandon officiating. Interment followed in Cherokee Memorial Park. Sosebee Funeral

Lemma Addison
Lemma Pettett Addison, age 90 of Marietta, passed Friday afternoon, Sept. 24, 2004 at Canton Nursing Center in Canton. Mrs. Addison was born in Pickens County, Ga., the daughter of the late Dock and Fannie Ellen Pettett of Marietta. She was a homemaker and also bought homes, remodeled and supervised the building of some homes
around Marietta. Mrs. Addison loved everyone and was loved by all, and she always had a beautiful smile. She loved singing and had a beautiful soprano and tenor voice. Mrs. Addison was a faithful member of the Maryıs Memorial
Baptist Church for many, many years and was the oldest member. Survivors include a daughter, Betty Sue Addison DuBois, and son-in-law, Howard 'Joey', Woodstock; grandchildren, Debbie DuBois Miller and husband Michael, Fred Joseph DuBois and wife Angela; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred J. Addison, former city assistant fire chief of Marietta. The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26 from Maryıs Memorial Baptist Church in Marietta with the Revs. Johnny McPherson and Willard Wilson officiating. Charles Bozeman
Mr. Charles Hugh Bozeman, age 65 of Ball Ground, Ga., passed away Jan. 3, 2005 at North Fulton Regional Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Marcelle Bozeman of Ball Ground; daughtersand sons-in-law, Cindy and Anthony Petty, Susan Howell and Amy and WayneCowart; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Mary Ann Bozeman; sister andbrother-in-law, Ann and Vernon Simmons; and grandchildren, Casey and
Zack Petty and Kevin Silvers; niece, Carrie Simmons; and nephew, Brett Bozeman.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5 from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with interment in Four Mile Baptist Church Cemetery.

Virginia Childers
Mrs. Virginia M. Childers, age 84 of Nelson, passed away Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004 at Portsbridge Hospice in Dunwoody, Ga. Survivors include her son, Larry W. Childers, Nelson; and sister, Eva Young, Cartersville. Ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Childers was preceded in death her husband, Otis C. Childers on July 19, 1973; two sons, Kenny and Hugh Childers; and one daughter,
Shelby Wood. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14 from Jerusalem Baptist Church with the Revs. Terry Dean, Melvin Godfrey and Buddy Roper officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The following served as pallbearers: Phillip Young, Kevin, Harley, Horace and Doug Childers

William Stanley
Mr. William Bowen (Bo) Stanley, age 73 of Calhoun, passed away Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005 at his residence following a heart attack.Mr. Stanley was born on Feb. 23, 1931 in Whitfield County, son of
the late William Baxter and Addie Lou Carroll Stanley. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Martha Roberts and Learnie Dodd; and by a brother, Virgil Stanley. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Lee Stanley, to whom he was married for 46 years; son, William Shane Stanley and wife Sharon of Jasper;
sisters, Mabel Holbrook, Calhoun, Willie Hazelwood of Plainville, Mossie Couey of California, Daffie Faulkenberry and Wincie Raines, both of Sugar Valley; brothers, Charlie and Baxter Stanley, both of Calhoun, and Benny Stanley of Plainville; and two grandchildren, Gavin and Ella Stanley. Nieces and
nephews also survive. The funeral service was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Victory Temple
Church of God with the Revs. Jeff Dutton and Dwaine Shadix officiating. Rev. Steve Nance conducted the graveside services at the Haven of Rest Memorial Park Cemetery. Singing was arranged by Elaine Bearden. Active pallbearers were: Mickey Pass, Ronnie Harris, Barron Bearden, Max and Randy Johns

Rev. Tate Hall
The Rev. Tate Billings Hall, age 68 of Fairmount, Ga., departed thislife Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005 at the Redmond Regional Hospital. He was born April 13, 1936 in Gordon County, the son of the late Carter
and Daisy Reece Hall. His brother, Fain, and sister, Edith, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Annie Imogene Hall of Fairmount; sons, Vincent Hall of Oakman, Ga. and Vann Hall of Austin, Tx.; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Neal Padgett of Fairmount; step-sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Alice West, Calhoun, and Terry and Connie Wood, Ludville; step-daughter, Brenda West of Fairmount; brother and sisters-in-law, Carter and Bonnie Hall and Ruby Hall; aunts, Willie Bell Itson and Eula Harris, both of Adairsville, and Sybil Parker of Calhoun; cousin, Faye Itson of Adairsville. Eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.The funeral service was held Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. from the Fairmount

Charles Green, Jr.
Mr. Charles M. Green, Jr., age 92 of Fairmount, Ga., departed this life Monday, Jan. 10, 2005 at his residence. He was born April 11, 1912 in Georgia, son of the late Charles, Sr. and Cecila Seritte Green. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dixie Green; brother, Jimmy Green; sisters, Louise Jones, Dorothy Heaberlin and Lorena McNeil. Mr. Green was a veteran of the US Army and served in World War II.
Survivors include his daughter, Shirley Ann Jervis; grandson, Jeff Jervis of Lexington, Ky.; and friends, Mattie Evelyn Hightower and Byron Roland, Fairmount. Three nieces and two nephews also survive. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 2 p.m. from theFairmount Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Willard officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Ryo Baptist Church Cemetery.
John Quinton
Mr. John S. Quinton, age 63 of Talking Rock, passed away Monday, Jan. 10, 2005 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Quinton, Talking Rock; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Kathy Quinton, Talking Rock; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Ricky Holmes, Talking Rock; brothers, James Quinton, Talking Rock, and Don Quinton, Jasper; sisters, Ann Parks and Sue Gilbert, both of Talking Rock; and grandchildren, Maria Campano, Candra Holmes, TylerHolmes, Jessica, Anthony and Joshua Quinton. Oneta Teague
Mrs. Oneta Teague, age 72 of Jasper, passed away Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005 at her residence.
She is survived by her mother, Myrtle Helton, Jasper; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Carolyn Teague, Allen and Kathy Teague and Donald and Shannon Teague, all of Jasper, Larry and Cathy Teague,
Ellijay, and Russell and Connie Teague, Canton; daughters and sons-in-law, Helen andHarvey Johnson and Sandra and Michael Kirk, all of Jasper. Nineteen grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews alsosurvive. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11 from the Chapel

Kenith Wade
Mr. Kenith A. Wade, age 65 of Talking Rock, Ga., passed away
Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005 at his residence.
Survivors include his daughter, Cherokee Dawn Wade, Talking Rock;
sisters, Betty Wade Tinsley, Dawsonville, and Peggy Wade Dorsey,
Jasper; special friend, Johnny Lacy; nephew, Jackie Tinsley. Three nieces and
three grandchildren also survive.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12 from
Conns Creek Baptist Cemetery in Cherokee County with the Revs. Clyde Boling
and Carl Owenby officiating. Pallbearers were: Doug and Josh Lacy, Clen
Grizzle, Jimmy Poole, Jody Roberson and Lonnie Fountain. Cagle Funeral Home was
in charge of the arrangements.
Frank Davis
Mr. Frank Edward Davis, age 84 of Marietta, Ga., passed away Tuesday,
Jan. 11, 2005 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. He is survived by his brother-in-law, C.M. Butler.
A private graveside service was held Jan. 12 from the Hinton Baptist
Church Cemetery. Roper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Betty Emory
Mrs. Betty Faye Emory, age 99 of Talking Rock, Ga., passed away Jan. 11, 2005 at Mountain Health Care in Jasper. Survivors include her sons, Bryan and Jack Emory, both of Talking
Rock; and daughter, Dorothy Townsend of Talking Rock. Thirteen grandchildren,
several great- and great-great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13 from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with the Revs. Junior Waddell and Danny Townsend officiating. Interment followed in the Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery.
The pallbearers were: Larry Coleman, Bill Brock, Randall and Roger Emory, Josh Townsend and Mike Garland.
Pledger Holloway
Mr. Pledger 'Punk' Holloway, age 78 of Ball Ground, Ga., passed away
Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005.Mr. Holloway was retired from maintenance with the Cherokee County
Board of Education. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Madge Holloway of Ball Ground; sons, Larry and Leonard Holloway, both of Ball Ground; daughters, Katherine Hensley of Dawsonville and Romona Floyd of Hartwell, Ga.; and sister, Betty McGhee
of Canton. Eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.

Kate Scott
Mrs. Kate Scott, age 81 of Ball Ground, Ga., passed away Friday,
Jan. 14, 2005 at Piedmont Hospital. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist
faith.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Scott of Ball Ground; son,
Dennis Scott of Holly Springs; and sister, Pearl Thomas of Hickory Flat. Two
grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17 from Sosebee
Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Calvin Grogan officiating. Interment
followed in Cherokee Memorial Park.
Brady Curtis
Mr. Brady Curtis, age 83 of Jasper, passed away Friday, Jan. 14,
2005 at his residence.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn and Jack Norton
of Jasper and Vickie and Ben Kiker, Ellijay; grandchildren, Angie and Joe
Hughes, Kelly and Bo Dorsey and Kerri Kiker; great-grandchildren, Leah
and Josh Wright; and great-great-grandchild, Victoria JoAnn Wright.
The funeral service was held Sunday, Jan. 16 from the Chapel of
Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Claude Smithmeir and Steve Fields officiating.
Interment was in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Bo and Jim
Dorsey, Jimmy Cagle, Phillip Caylor, Floyd Henderson and Johnny Angel.
Honorary pallbearers were Cecil Voyles and Bill Saint.
James Hitt
Mr. James C. Hitt, age 52 of Canton, passed away at the Brian
Center on Jan. 14, 2005.
Survivors include his sons, Jessie Hitt, Canton, and Jimmy Hitt of
Thomasville; daughters, Sandy Hitt, Jasper, and Christy Hitt of Canton;
brother, Johnny Hitt of Canton; sisters, Betty Grady of Clayton
Community and Gail Raysick and Brenda Hitt, both of Canton. Three grandchildren
also survive.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 2 p.m. from Cagle
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Walter Ingram officiating. Interment
followed in the Pleasant Arbor Cemetery. Sosebee Funeral Home was in
charge of the arrangements.
Sue Dolan
Mrs. Sue Dolan, age 67 of Big Canoe, passed away Wednesday, Jan.
12, 2005 at Northside Cherokee Hospital in Canton.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Dolan; sons, Michael C. Dolan,
Atlanta, Kevin C. Dolan, Bethesda, Md., and Chuck Crook, San Diego,
Ca.; daughters, Karyn Dolan Owens, Bethesda, Sherry Sawicki, Atlanta, and
Sheila Creech, Cedar Rapids, Ia.
A Rosary service was held Friday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass
was held Saturday, Jan. 15 at 1 p.m. from Our Lady of the Mountains
Catholic Church with Father Frank Richardson officiating. Interment was in the
Big Canoe Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Michael C. and Kevin C. Dolan, Chuck
Crook, Chet Payne, Bill McGrath and Jack Weiss. Flowers were omitted
and donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society at Our Lady of the
Mountains Catholic Church, 1908 Waleska Hwy. #108, Jasper, Ga. 30143.

Jessie Childers
Ms. Jessie L. Childers, age 56 of Fairmount, Ga., passed away
Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005 at Gordon County Hospital.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Darlene and Randy
and Lisa Childers, all of the Jerusalem Community; daughter, Linda
Childers, Fairmount; sister, Ann Harris, Alabama. Four grandchildren, Dustin
Johnson, Wendy and Cody Childers and Jessica Elmore also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18 from
Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Hyde officiating. Interment followed
in the Johnson Cemetery in Fairmount. Pallbearers were: Shawn Childers,
Larry Pierce, Doug Plumley, Chris Hefner, Billy Bagwell and Bo Hightower.

Leola Corkill
Mrs. Leola Mae Corkill, age 76 of Dawsonville, Ga., passed away
Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005 at Northside Cherokee Hospital in Canton.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Corkill of Dawsonville; sons
and daughters-in-law, Craig and Pamela Corkill of Dawsonville and David and
Jill Corkill of Grand Island, Fl.; daughter, Jenelee Duncan of Dawsonville;
grandchildren, Michael C., Beau, Marc, Maggie, Quanna, Christie, Reece,
Michael R. and Bryan; and great-grandson, Dylan. Mrs. Corkill was
preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, Jan. 19 from New Lebanon
Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Benton E. Laughlin officiating.
Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. The family requests in lieu of

Flo Popham
Ms. Flo Cook Popham, age 73 of Kennesaw, Ga., passed away Sunday,
Jan. 16, 2005 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.
Survivors include sons, Mark E. Needham of Canton, Gary E. Needham
of Jasper and Hank Cook of Woodstock; daughter, Linda N. Cochran of
Jasper; brothers, Donald Emery and Erlin Pendley, both of Maine, and Elwyn
Emery of Vermont. Eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive. Ms.
Popham was preceded in death by a son, Drew E. Cook of Acworth;
brothers, Norman, Leon and John Emery; sisters, Ada Sawyer, Millie Merrill,
Pauline Foss and Evelyn Eaton.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18 from
Summit Baptist Church in Acworth, Ga. with the Rev. Lee Gambrell officiating.
Interment followed at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Corey
and Cameron Needham, Jimmy and David Cochran and Mark Maddox. Cagle Funeral
