Mr. Clare W. Gove, age 83 of Blue Ridge, passed away Friday, Nov. 21, 2003 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Debbie Gove, Nacogdoches, Tx.; daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly and Randy Wellborn, Jasper (Bent Tree), and Jean and Ron Frey, Blue Ridge. Six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive. The funeral service was held Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 10 a.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom McElroy officiating. Entombment was in Sunrise Memorial Gardens Chapel Mausoleum. Pallbearers were: John Paul Nicholson, Danny and Kelley Gove, Danielle Whiddon, Randy Wellborn and Ronald Frey.
Pauline Brown
Mrs. Pauline Brown, age 73 of Jasper, passed away Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003 at the Brian Nursing Home in Canton.
Survivors are son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Gail Brown, Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Johnny Dean, Jasper, and Juanita and Randall Brooks, Marble Hill. Six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Troy.
The funeral service was held Monday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. LeRoy Kelly, Huey Holloway, Jerry Weaver and Larry Johnson officiating. Interment was in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Brown was a member of Mineral Bluff Baptist Church. Pallbearers were: Marty Dean, Allen Hammontree, Jimmy Tidwell, Lewis Cline, Michael Martin, Bobby Panter, Justin Dean and Corey Hamrick. Donations may be made to Refuge Baptist Church or Corinth Baptist.
Elmina Gantt
Mrs. Elmina C. Gantt, age 92 of Jasper, passed away Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003 at Grandview Health Care Center following a period of declining health.
Born in Pickens County, S.C., Mrs. Gantt lived most of her life there. She was the wife of the late Frank A. Gantt. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy G. Proffitt, Jasper; grandsons, Michael and his wife Leanne Proffitt of Alpharetta and Scotty Proffitt, Flowery Branch, Ga. One great-grandson also survives.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in South Carolina with the Rev. Steve Patterson of Grace Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in Pickens, S.C. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish may make a donation in her memory to Grace United Methodist Church in Pickens, S.C. 29671 or to the Appalachian Technical College Foundation, 100 Campus Dr., Jasper, Ga. 30143. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.
Audrey Domzalski
Mrs. Audrey Domzalski, age 74, passed away Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003 at her residence.
Survivors include her husband, Tom Domzalski, Jasper; son, Mark Domzalski, Placitas, N.M.; daughters, Tracy Domzalski and Sara White, both of Marietta; and one grandson, Tom Wolfharth.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Georgia Mountain Hospice.
Dorothy Thomas
Mrs. Dorothy A. Thomas, age 76 of Bent Tree, passed away Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003 at her residence.
Survivors include her sons, Paul III, David and Mark E. Thomas, all of Jasper; daughter, Ann Fuller, Bradenton, Fl. One grandchild also survives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Paul O. Thomas Jr.

Lamar Harris
Mr. Lamar Harris, age 82 of Ball Ground, passed away Nov. 16, 2004 at Northside Hospital Cherokee. Mr. Harris was a member and Deacon of Ball Ground Baptist Church, a 50-year member of Ball Ground Masonic Lodge and the American Legion, member of Ball Ground Lions Club, the VFW and the Cherokee Shrine Club. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Harris; sons, Steve Harris of Ball Ground, Lee Harris of Ellijay and Alan Harris of Canton; daughters, Marsha Slagle of Columbia, S.C. and Melba Harris of Louisville, Ky.; brothers, Harold Harris of Ball Ground and David Harris of Kennesaw; sisters, Patsy Dunn of Holly Springs, Yvonne Norton of Canton, Valjean Young of Atlanta and Marie Cahoon of Smyrna. Seven grandchildren also survive.The funeral service was held Thursday, Nov. 18 from Ball Ground Baptist Church with the Rev. Alton Burrell officiating. Ms. Effie Mae Dean, age 88 of Talking Rock, passed away Nov. 16, 2004 atNorth Fulton Regional Hospital. Ms. Dean is survived by nieces and nephews,Mary and Harold Banks, Vernon and Melba Sullivan, Damie and Wyman Morris and Mrs. Weldon Sullivan. Several great and great-great nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service was held Thursday, Nov, 18 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with the Revs. Clay Fountain and Carl Owenby officiating. Harold Williams
Mr. Harold Loyd Williams, age 76 of Canton, passed away on Tuesday, Nov.16, 2004. Mr. Williams was a retired Tech Sergeant with the US Air
Force and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Williams of Canton; daughter, Marilyn Green of Jasper; grandchildren, Tracey Gibson and Trent Green, both of Jasper. Three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19 from the Little Refuge Baptist Church with the Revs. Willard Wilson and David Abernathy officiating. Interment followed in Cherokee Memorial Park. Sosebee Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Chester Tapp, Sr.
Mr. Chester G. Tapp, Sr., age 80 of Jasper, passed away Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006 at Canton Nursing Center in Canton, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Tapp; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Judy Tapp; and brother, Max Tapp. Two grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 11 a.m. from Jasper United Methodist Church with interment in Georgia Memorial Park in Marietta. The Revs. Jerry Peele and Herb Flanders officiated. Roper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
James Anderson
Mr. James E. Anderson, age 78 of the Clayton Community, passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2006 at Northside Hospital-Cherokee.
He was a retired machinist, member of Buffington Baptist Church and a Korean War veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Cleo Anderson, Clayton; son, David Andrews, Clayton; sisters, Sybil McDowell, Clayton, Dorothy Bagwell, Free Home, Nona Elrod, Smyrna, and Jean Anderson, White. Four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Monday, Nov. 27 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of South Canton Funeral Home. Interment followed in Cherokee Memorial Park.
Tami Duckett
Ms. Tami Duckett, age 34 of Jasper, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006 as the result of an automobile accident.
Survivors include her parents, Tommy and Donna Duckett, Hinton; grandmothers, Bonnie Wood and Myrtle Duckett, both of Hinton; brother and sister-in-law, Troy and Tiffany Duckett, Hinton; nephew, Cameron Duckett; and nieces, Kimberly, Meagan and Brandie Duckett. Aunts and uncles also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Darrell Hill officiating. Interment followed in Hinton Cemetery.
Dot Owens
Mrs. Dot Cole Owens, age 82 of Canton, passed away Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006 at St. Joseph Hospital.
She was retired from Northside Hospital-Cherokee as a LPN Technician and was a member of The Moose, Marble Hill Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dewey and Ida Cole, Canton; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Rell Kitchen, Waleska; sister, Annie Coltrane, Ball Ground; and grandchildren, Donna Floyd, Denise Burress, Billy Cole, Gordon Kitchen, Diahan Gensel and Brad Cole. Eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Sunday, Nov. 26 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of South Canton Funeral Home with the Revs. Tony Boyd and Jimmy Gayton officiating. Interment followed in Southview Cemetery.
Vernon Stone
Mr. Vernon Stone, age 68 of the Ludville Community, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Amie Stone, Ludville; son, L.H. Stone, Ludville; daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Tim Childers, Pam and Shane Abernathy and Tracy Stone and Manuel Moya, all of Ludville; brothers, Gene and William Stone, both of Ranger, and Larry Stone, Hinton; sisters, Ollie Hightower, Ludville, Myrtis Swafford, Nickelsville, Ruthell Cornett, Geneva Fountain, Oris Hendrix and Faye Young, all of Ranger, and Aris Reed, Fairmount. Five grandchildren also survive.

William Boling
Mr. William "Billy" Boling, age 60 of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Matt Turner, Jasper; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Sue Boling and James and Bonnie Boling, all of Jasper; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Gene Henderson and Judy and Mike Jarrett, all of Jasper; and grandchildren, Lekiesha, Demi and Dakota Turner.
The funeral service was held Friday, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. D.J. Free, Buck Parker and Gene Childers officiating. Miss Annie Gail "Susie" Jarrett, age 63 of Ball Ground, passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2006 at Northside Hospital-Cherokee in Canton.
Survivors include her brother, Glenn Jarrett, Jasper; sister, Eula Buttrum, Ball Ground; half-brothers, J.T. Childers, Ludville, and Jim Childers, Ellijay; sisters-in-law, Winell Jarrett, Marble Hill, and Betty Jarrett, Tate. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Monday, Nov. 27 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Horace Biddy and Troy Davis officiating. Interment was in Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery. Walter J. Kawula, MD
Walter J. Kawula, MD, 89, resident of Big Canoe, Ga. and formerly of Chicago and Lake Forest, Il., passed away Nov. 24, 2006.
Dr. Kawula was chief pathologist at St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago from 1967-1987 and also as chief of the medical staff.
Beloved husband of 45 years to Rita (nee Gramza); loving father of Michelle, Gregory, Jeffrey (deceased), Richard, Christopher, Walter, Jr., Margaret, Kevin and Xavier; cherished grandfather of 15 and fond uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Melvin Palmer
Mr. Melvin Edward Palmer, age 52 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Palmer of Jasper; son, Merrick Palmer of Ellijay; daughter, Rose Ann Nelson of Jasper; and grandchildren, Cody, Dylan and Kaylin Nelson. Mr. Palmer was preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Palmer; brother, Harold Palmer; and granddaughter, Shannen Palmer. Mr. John William Bridgeman, age 32 of Jasper, passed away Nov. 10, 2005 at the result of an automobile accident. He is survived by his father, Henry Bridgeman, Tuscaloosa, Al.; and cousins also survive. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home. Interment was in Lake Forest Memorial Park.
Clyde Mathis
Mr. Clyde Nathan Mathis, age 95 of Gainesville, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Mathis was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Waldrip Mathis. Survivors include his children, Barbara and James “Frog” Hendrix and Charles and Reta Mathis, all of Cumming, and Margie Mathis, Ball Ground; sisters-in-law, Grace and Arvilla Mathis, both of Cumming. Six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. Survivors include his mother, Pat Parker, Jasper; grandmother, Janie Mills Baldridge, Jasper; uncle and aunt, Olin (Bud) Mills and Carol, Jasper; cousins, Jeff and Katrina, Gavin and Cody Manus and Robbie Mills. Mrs. Wanda June Mullis Satterfield, age 59 of Jacksonville, Fl., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005 at St. Vincents Hospital in Florida. Survivors include her husband, Eddie Satterfield of Jacksonville; brother, Ronnie Mullis; sisters, Donna McCall, Linda Hinson and Brenda Byles. Nieces and nephews also survive.
