Sarah Stone
Mrs. Sarah E. Stone, age 62 of Talking Rock, Ga., passed away at her residence Monday morning, Nov. 14, 2005. Survivors include her husband, Cisro Stone, Talking Rock; daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Gene Shaw and Brandie and KoJack Davis, all of Talking Rock; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Milton Fountain, Jasper; two brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law; and grandchildren, Brittany Shaw, Kimberly, Kristy and Kasha Davis. Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Millie Hogan. The funeral service was held Thursday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Mark Chastain and Herman Mulkey officiating. Interment followed in Mountain Cemetery with Jeffery, Chris and Donnie Stone, Teddy Scoggins, Ronnie Worley and Jody Sewell serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Arvel Kelly and Watson Darnell.
Brenda Collins
Ms. Brenda Collins, age 59 of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital. Survivors include her mother, Amilie Collins, Jasper; daughter, Megan Collins, Jasper; brother, Terry Collins, Jasper; sister, Mary Sue Jones, Jasper; and niece and nephew, Anita Hayes and Mickey Jones. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service was held Friday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. from Cool Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Eddie Martin, Moss Fountain and Charles O. Walker officiating. Interment was in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Wesley Dean, Steve Byess, Shawn Griffin, Wayne Thacker, Matt Kinser and Brian Fox. Earl Brinson
Mr. Lester Earl Brinson, Sr., age 72 of Big Canoe, passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005 at Well Star Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Ga. Mr. Brinson was a well known real estate broker with Century 21 for Pickens County and surrounding areas. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Brinson, Big Canoe; son, Lester Earl Brinson, Jr., Jasper; daughters, Bonnie Boling and Jenny Caudill, both of Jasper; step-son, Jim Guest; step-daughters, Marianne Carlton, Kathy Bledsoe and Patty Conkle; brothers, Tracy Brinson, Perry, Ga., and Lamar Brinson; sister, Barbara Curl, Chattanooga, Tn. Sixteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive. The funeral service was held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Jerry Peele and Lamar Helmes officiating. Mr. Brinson’s remains were then transported to the Peebles & Curry Funeral Home in Swainsboro, Ga. for visitation Saturday evening and the funeral service was held on Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Hawhammock Baptist Church with the Rev. Cail Pressey officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. The family did accept flowers, but donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
Bruce Johnson
Bruce Howard Johnson, age 75 of Bent Tree, Jasper, Ga., passed away Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Bruce was born March 10, 1930 to Mildred I. (Bumpus) and Roy G. Johnson in DeKalb, Il. He grew up in DeKalb and married Lois Anderson of Leland, Il. in 1951. They settled in Sycamore, Il. In 1979 they relocated to Bristol, Va. and in 1983 moved to Cumming, Ga. There Bruce began B.H. Johnson Stairbuilders. He was joined by all three of his sons in the business. His legacy of quality stair work is carried on by two of his sons, Brian and Brent. Bruce loved life and pursued many hobbies which included golfing, fishing, hunting and RV-ing. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, and cherished his family immensely. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Lois; sisters, Mariann Ohlson of Sun City West, Az. and Janet Tollefsrud of Rockford, Il; brother, William of St. Charles, Il.; daughters, Carol Anderson of Springfield, Mo. and Laura Johnson of Atlanta; sons, Brian of Alpharetta, Ga., Barry of Mooresville, N.C. and Brent of Lawrenceville, Ga. Thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. Mr. Johnson’s body was cremated and a memorial service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Ellijay with Pastor Dave Smedley officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Georgia Mountains Hospice, Jasper, or the Cancer Society. Bernhardt Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Robert Arrendale
Robert M. Arrendale, age 76 of Marion, In. passed away Dec. 6, 2004 at Marion General Hospital.
Mr. Arrendale was born on July 28, 1929 in Globe, Az. to the late Russell and Sadie (Barrett) Arrendale. He was raised in Jasper, Ga. and had been a resident of Marion since 1956. He married Betty A. Wheeler on Feb. 2, 1947. He retired from Marion General Motors after 31 1/2 years. He loved fastpitch softball, hunting, fishing and loved to watch his children and grandchildren play sports and was a big Marion Giant fan. Robert coached and sponsored fastpitch softball for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Betty A. Arrendale, Marion, In.; sons, Robert A. Arrendale, Fishers, In., Charles L. (Linda) Arrendale, Steven Arrendale and Kenneth (Laura) Arrendale, all of Marion, David (Cindy) Arrendale, Swayzee, In.; daughter, Melesa A. (Chris) McNutt Fairmount, In.; grandchildren, Renee, Jeff, Matt, Mandy, Amy, Angi, Daniele, Stevie, Jessica, Andrew, Nate, Ben, Jamie, David, Leyna, Adam, Alyson, Aaron; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Ashleigh, Jacob, Charli-Anne, Cooper, Devon, Jasmine, Elijah, Zak, Ethan, Seth; brother, Gene Beck, Georgia; special fishing buddy, Tom Shields. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Arrendale.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9 from Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel with the Rev. Gary Bingham officiating. Alice Lamb
Alice Van Woeart Lamb, 85 of Marietta, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005.
Mrs. Lamb was born in Tate, Ga. and moved to Cobb County in the late ’30s. She graduated from Marietta High School in 1939 and was a member of the Austin Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Lamb was formerly employed by Marietta Board of Lights and Water and retired from Cobb County Board of Education. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star emeritus member of Kennesaw #33 O.E. and Rebekah Assembly.
Survivors include her sons, Woodrow Robert “Robbie” Lamb, Jr. of Marietta and Charles L. Lamb of Douglasville. Seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Her husband, Woodrow Robert Lamb, Sr., and son, Robert P. Cannon, preceded Alice in death.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8 at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home, Marietta, with the Rev. Ray Huddleston officiating. Carolyn Werle
Carolyn Elizabeth Werle, age 50 of Jasper, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005. She was a member of All Who Sorrow Church in Cumming and will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband, Chris Werle of Jasper; daughter, Angela Pruett of Jasper; mother, Vivian Caldwell of Jasper; and sister, Mary Clifford of Golden, Co.
The funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9 from Our Lady of All Who Sorrow Orthodox Church in Cumming with Father Alexis Duncan officiating. Interment was in the monastery of the Glorious Ascension Cemetery in Resaca, Ga. Byars Funeral Home & Cremation Services was in charge of the arrangements.
Sarah Gartrell
Mrs. Sarah Gartrell, age 78 of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Joe Turner, Newnan; sisters, Sue Ward and Roxie Goble, both of Gainesville, and Beth Glenn, Hilton Head, S.C.; and three grandchildren, Bryan, Major Todd and Brad Turner.
The funeral service was held Friday, Dec. 2 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles O. Walker officiating. Entombment was in Sunrise Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. William Denson
Mr. William Glenn “Bill” Denson, age 72 of Talking Rock, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2005 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Denson; brothers and sister-in-law, John and Diane Denson and James Hill; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jackie and Steve Poole, Ada and Carroll Plunk and Judy McClure. Nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with the Revs. David LaGrand and Phillip Wehunt officiating. Interment followed in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.
John Ledbetter
John Henry Ledbetter, age 80 of Gainesville, Ga., passed Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 7, 2005 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
Survivors include his wife, Montine Ledbetter, Gainesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Lynn Ledbetter, Gainesville, and Danny and Tammy Ledbetter, Sevierville, Tn.; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Mike Wallace, Amy and Christopher Suarez, Brandon, John, Jr., Cody, Austin, Dustin and Kayla Ledbetter; and great-granddaughter, Amy Oliva Suarez.
The funeral service was held Saturday, Dec. 10 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Charles O. Walker and Robert Jarvis officiating. Interment was held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery in Gainesville. Pallbearers were: John, Danny, Veston, Brandon and Dustin Ledbetter and Chris Suarez.
Grace Hitt
Miss Grace Hitt, age 77 of Canton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005 at the Canton Nursing.
Survivors include two brothers, Steve and Bill Hitt, both of Canton; and sisters, Nora Reece, Canton, and Maria Chastain, Tate.
The funeral service was held Monday, Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. from Free Hope Baptist Church with the Revs. Michael Ware, Joey Duboise and Grant Wade officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Jimmy, Ricky and Mike Hitt, Robert and Larry Reece and Henry Lovelace. Honorary pallbearers were Milton Fountain, Barry Chastain and Dwayne Free. Anna Ingram
Anna Ruth Ingram, age 82 of Akron, Oh., passed away Nov. 20, 2005.
Anna loved to spend time with her family and friends. She always enjoyed polka music, parties and fishing. One of her proudest achievements was graduating from the Riggs LeMar School of Beauty. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Wathel Dean; brother, Melvin Dean; and sisters, Lillian Cole and Ruby Mayfield.
Survivors include her husband, James Ingram; son, William (Sue) Tallent of Akron; sister, Fleta Edwards of Akron; brother, David (Mary) Dean of Las Vegas, Nv.; step-children, Verette (Robert) Angel, Tim Ingram, Carol Darby, Vivian Murphy, Mary Francis Reding and Pam Watkins, all of Georgia; grandchildren, Jeff (Dawn) Tallent, Paula Ann Tallent and Brenda (Rick) Longacre; great-grandchildren, Emily Marie Tallent, Rick, Jr. and Leanne Longacre. Numerous nieces and nephews, especially Glenda Small and Debbie Goson, also survive.
The funeral service was held in Akron.
Ruby A. Hardman-Debarr
Ruby A. Hardman-Debarr, 94 of Walland, Tn., died Nov. 26, 2005. She was retired from Bridgestone/Firestone Tire Co., Akron, Oh. after 35 years of service. She was born in Pickens County, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Otis Hardman and Wayne Debarr; parents, William and Violet Bruce Bradley; brother, Donnie Bradley; and sisters, Doris B. Carver and Ruth B. Tabereaux.
She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Jean Priest and husband Bill of Michigan; sister Willie Mae B. Fricks; step-daughters Pam Buchanan and Sandra Carpenter; and stepson, Ronnie Debarr and wife Diane. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation and the funeral service were Tuesday, Nov. 29 at Memorial Funeral Home, Maryville, Tn. Burial was Wednesday, Nov. 30 at Caylors Chapel Cemetery, Townsend, Tn.
Mary Z. “Sissy” James
Mary Z. “Sissy” James, age 67, died at her home in Big Canoe, Ga. on
Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005 after a lengthy and gallant struggle with lung
cancer.
Prior to her illness, Sissy was very active in Big Canoe golf and tennis.
She was an enthusiastic hostess who paid attention to every detail when
organizing social events. She loved gardening and decorating and these
endeavors provided her an outlet for her considerable artistic talent. Sissy
possessed a highly competitive spirit and sought to excel at any activity
that she attempted. She also loved the camaraderie she found in being a
member of the golf and tennis leagues at Big Canoe. Sissy loved the wooded
acreage at Big Canoe and observing the wide variety of birds that visited
the area outside her breakfast room window. Her energy, enthusiasm and sense
of humor brought joy to the family and many friends that she leaves behind.
Sissy is survived by her mother, Mrs. Johnnye Zechiedrich of Bossier
City, La.; brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Nancy Zechiedrich of Van
Buren, Ar.; her husband of 47 years, Tommy James formerly of Ruston, La.;
daughter, Mary James of Fairfield, Ct.; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Jim
Jackson of Atlanta, Ga.; and grandchildren, Victoria and Tom Jackson of
Atlanta.
A memorial service was held at Trinity Evangelical Church of Marble Hill,
Ga. on Saturday, Nov. 26 with Dr. George Callahan officiating.

Marvin Brown
Mr. Marvin D. Brown, age 75 of Talking Rock, Ga., passed away Tuesday,
Nov. 29, 2005 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie Brown of Talking Rock; son, Richard
Brown of Ranger; daughters, Sandra Blackwood of Locus Fork, Al. and Lisa
Silva of Kennesaw; brothers, Billy Brown of Tunnel Hill and Ashley Brown of
Marietta. Four grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 from the Chapel
of Roper Funeral Home with Dr. Charlie Boggan officiating. Interment was in
Lake Forest Memorial Park on Camp Road.
J.F. Jones
The Rev. J.F. Jones, age 79 Talking Rock, Ga., passed away Wednesday,
Nov. 30, 2005 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva Jones of the home; step-mother, Ola
Belle Jones of Jasper; sons, Stanley, Anthony, Kenneth, Charles, Randy,
Mark, Timothy and Ronnie Jones; daughters, Mae Jones, Angela Burgess, Lynn
Nogradi and Machielle Pinson; brothers, Wilford and Jack Jones; sister,
Kathleen Kirk. Twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also
survive.
The funeral service was held Friday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. from Antioch
Baptist Church with the Revs. Johnny Garrison and Charles Hammontree
officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery with E.W. Hightower Lodge
in charge of Masonic graveside rites. Roper Funeral Home in charge of

Jerry McDonald
Mr. Jerry Lee McDonald, age 67 of 289 New Town St. in Tate, Ga., passed
away Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005 at Piedmont Mountainside Medical Center.
He was born on Dec. 29, 1937 in Massillon, Oh. to Vince and Alice
McDonald. Jerry graduated high school from Seabreeze High School in Daytona
Beach, Fl. He later went on to serve in the US Navy aboard the USS Eversole.
He served for four and a half years. Jerry later went to work for General
Motors Assembly Corporation in Doraville, Ga. where he retired on Jan. 1,
1995 after over 31 years.
A loving husband, devoted father and dedicated Christian, Jerry was a
licensed minister and long-time member of the E.W. Hightower Masonic Lodge
in Nelson, Ga. and the Tate Masonic Lodge in Tate, Ga., where he served as a
Master. He was also a member of Nelson Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Andrews McDonald of Tate; son and
daughter-in-law, Eddie and Joan McDonald of Cartersvile; daughters and
son-in-law, Angela McDonald of Cumming and Carol Ann and David Forrester of
Jasper; brother, Thomas Charles McDonald of Orlando, Fl.; and five
grandchildren, Justin Steven and Tyler Allan Stanfield, Benjamin Robert
McDonald, Holly Leigh and Allison Marie Mullins.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4 from the Roper
Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Larry Waddell and Elmer Stowe
officiating. Interment was in Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The
following served as pallbearers: Eddie and Ben McDonald, Justin and Tyler
Stanfield, David Forrester and Charles Stargel. Jerry and Allen Andrews,
Roger Rich, Kenneth and Curtis Stargel and Bobby Lowe served as honorary
pallbearers.
Robert Frankforther
Mr. Robert Earling Frankforther, age 97 of Jasper, Ga., passed away
Thursday, Dec. 2, 2005.
He is survived by his son, Don Frankforther of Jasper; brother, Frank
Frankforther of New Mexico. Three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren
also survive.
The funeral service will be held in Kansas City, Mo. Roper Funeral Home
was in charge of arrangements.
Butch Morris
Mr. Leamon “Butch” Morris, age 63 of Nelson, passed away Saturday, Dec.
3, 2005 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital. He was of the Baptist faith and a
heavy equipment operator.
Survivors include his sons, Jay Morris of Jasper and Edwin Morris of
Rockmart; daughters, Tammy Dills of Piedmont, Al., Neina Payne of Woodstock
and Donna Morris of Cartersville; brothers, Eddie Morris of Waleska and Tony
and Troy Kincaid, both of Canton; sisters, Rudene Sparks of Canton, Jolynn
Davis of Cartersville and Judy Whitfield of Holly Springs. Seventeen
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7 from Sosebee
Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Pat McCoy officiating. Interment followed in
Sweetwater Baptist Church Cemetery.
Sara Bannister
Mrs. Sara Bannister, age 90 of the Mica Community, passed early Monday
morning, Dec. 5, 2005 at Grandview Health Care Center in Jasper.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Jerry Andrews,
Tate, and Annie Ruth and Roger Weaver, Carnesville, Ga.; and grandchildren,
Mickey Andrews, Valerie Byrne, Dana Rothwell and Brett Weaver. Six
great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 11 a.m. from the
Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. David LeGrand officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mica Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are:
Mickey Andrews, Brett Weaver, Bruce Byrne, Kent Rothwell, Mark Stancil and
Jimmy Bannister.
Larry Rossi
Mr. Larry Rossi, age 64 of Jasper, Ga., passed at his residence Monday
morning, Dec. 5, 2005.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen Rossi, Jasper; sons, Glenn Rossi,
Gwinnett County, Ga., and Tim and Colin Rossi, Jasper; brother, Richard
Rossi, Connecticut; and grandchildren, Austin and Ashley Rossi, Duluth.
Three nieces and one nephew also survive.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Dec. 8 from the Chapel of Cagle
Funeral Home at 4 p.m. Please omit flowers. Those who wish may make
memorials to a charity of their choice.
