Willie Honea
Mr. Willie Lee Honea, age 59 of Tucker, Ga., formerly of Jasper,
Passed away Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2005 at his home.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Wesley Lee and Lisa
Honea of Lithia Springs, Ga.; daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Chad
Sims of Dallas, Ga. and Christine and Kevlon Kirkpatrick of Orlando, Fl.;
brothers and sisters-in-law, Jake and Phyllis Honea of Carrollton and Phil and
Louise Honea of Grand Rapids, Mi.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Grace and
Johnny Sutherland and Mary Sharp, all of Jasper, Francis Foster of Marietta
and Addie Jane Honea of Augusta; sister-in-law, Karen Honea of Marble Hill.
Four grandchildren, Sydney and Hayley Sims and Kristen and Alexandra Honea
also survive. Mr. Honea was preceded in death by his mother and father,
Homer and Cora Honea; and brothers, Paul, John and Roy.
The funeral service was held Saturday, Feb. 5 at 1 p.m. from the
Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Brother Bob Smith and Rev. Jimmy Graham
officiating. Interment followed in Long Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery.
Nettie Souder
Mrs. Nettie Savilla Souder, age 84 of Canton, Ga., passed away
Friday, Feb. 4, 2005 at Northside Cherokee Hospital. She was a retired factory
worker and a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Kenneth and Gerald Aaron of Jasper and
Charles Aaron of Dawsonville; daughters, Sandra Kelly of Canton and
Beth Sheehy of Florida. Twelve grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild also survives.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7 from Sosebee
Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Horace Richards and Joey Dubois
officiating. Interment followed in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
Wyolene Bruce
Mrs. Wyolene Cagle Bruce, age 91 of Jasper, passed away Saturday
evening, Feb. 5, 2005 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Kay Bruce,
Jasper; daughters and son-in-law, Jerrie B. Dean and Mary Ellen and Bob
Payne, all of Jasper; grandchildren, Scott and Trisha Payne, Mike and
Andrea Payne, Todd and Sherry Payne, Susan Dean, Jamie and Scott Burnside,
Josey and Misty Reinhardt and Eric Reinhardt; and great-grandchildren, Brent,
Greg, Megan, Andy, Bailey and Ty Payne. Mrs. Bruce was preceded in
death by her husband, Rembert Lee Bruce; and one grandson, Joseph Austin Bruce.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. from the
Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Robert Allen and Terry Dean
officiating. Interment followed in the Jerusalem Baptist Church
Cemetery. The grandchildren served as pallbearers. The family did accept flowers
ordonations may be made to the Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
Freddie Blankenship
Mr. Freddie Blankenship, age 55 of Nelson, passed away Friday, Feb.
4, 2005 at his residence.
Survivors include his daughter, Jessica Chapman, Nelson; brothers,
Okey, Richard, Herbert and Bud Blankenship, all of Jasper, and Eddie
Blankenship of Nelson; sister, Betty Davis, Elgin, Il.; grandson, Nicholas Chapman;
nieces, Shannon and Amber Blankenship; and special friend, Ruby Ryder.
The body remained at Cagle Funeral Home until Sunday morning. He
was then transported to the Fanning Funeral Home in West Virginia for
services to be announced later. Burial will be in the Justice Family Cemetery in
Hurley, Va. The family did accept potted plants or donations may be
made to the Nelson Baptist Church or the American Lung Association.
Kate Mullinax
Mrs. Kate Mullinax, age 81 of Ellijay, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 1,
2005 at St. Joseph©ˆs Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Hilda
Parker of Ellijay; brother, Wilburn Foster, Pea Ridge; sister, Ollie Mae
Foster, Jasper; grandchildren, Sherry McGlamory, LaGrange, Deanna Bagwell,
Ellijay, Josh Goode, Jasper, and Dwayne Brown, Ellijay. Ten great-grandchildren
also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4 from the
Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Ted Wooldridge and Clyde Brock
officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Jasper.
Pallbearers were: Tim Foster, Justin Parker, Dwayne Brown, Steve Bagwell,
Zeb Brown and Ronny Padgett.
Charlene Moseley
Miss Charlene Moseley, age 44 of Dedham, Ma., formerly of Jasper,
Passed away in Boston, Ma.
Survivors include her mother, Jean Moseley, Canton; sister, Melissa
Moseley, Jasper; nephews, Charles Griffin Hall; and many other loving
family and friends. Charlene was preceded in death by her father, Dick
Moseley; and grandparents, Charlie and Omie Moseley.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12
from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Von Hinton officiating.

Cancer Society, Pickens County Unit.
Larry Munday
Mr. Larry Gene Munday, age 54 of Fairmount, passed away Wednesday,
Feb. 2, 2005 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Munday was born in Chattooga County on March 17, 1950, son of
Sam Floyd Munday and the late Betty Sue Trammell. He was employed by Mohawk
Industries and was associated with the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah©ˆs
Witnesses.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Tuggle Munday of Fairmount, to
whom he was married Jan. 23, 1970; sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Sheryl
Munday of Adairsville and Darrin Munday of Fairmount; father, Floyd
Munday of White; sister and brother-in-law, Betty Ann and Charles Buttrum of
White; step-granddaughter, Katassa Printup; nieces, Rhonda and Mandy; and
great-nephews, Austin and Brady.
The funeral service was held Friday at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of
Barton Funeral Home with Ministers Allen McIntyre and Richard Blaylock
officiating. Interment followed in Johnson Cemetery in Fairmount. Pallbearers were:
Lamar Abernathy, Tim and David Jones, Richard Ingram, Brian Andrews, Tommy
and Greg Tuggle.
Florence Harden
Florence Hembree Harden, 96, died Jan. 23, 2005 from heart failure at
the Charlestown Retirement Community in Baltimore, Maryland. The body was
cremated. A memorial service in Jasper, Ga. is planned for the spring.
Born on March 30, 1908 in Cobb County, Ga. to James Monroe Hembree and
Catherine Victoria Hagood Hembree. Florence Harden was trained as a nurse at the
Old Marietta Hospital. Until the 1950s, she worked as an operating room nurse,
an office nurse and a private-duty nurse. During this time she served as
president of the Business and Professional Women©ˆs Club in Marietta. On Nov.
4, 1938 she married William Charles Harden. They had two daughters. Florence
Harden was active in the Girl Scouts, the First Methodist Church and the
United Daughters of the Confederacy, which she also served as president. In
addition, she enjoyed gardening and playing bridge.
In 1973 the Hardens moved to Grandview Lake, Jasper where they both were
active in the Pickens County Arts and Crafts Society and the Pickens County
Hospital Auxiliary, for which they volunteered. Marble benches in their
memories have been placed near the pond in Jasper City Park.
In 1992 they moved to Baltimore. Charles Harden died in 2002. Florence
is survived by both daughters, Victoria Angela Harden of Bethesda, Maryland
and Merrilyn Cook Harden McNatt of East Lyme, Connecticut; and five
grandchildren: Charles Durward McDonell III, Emily Victoria McDonell,
Kathryn Elaine McNatt, Derek Charles McNatt and Kasey Elizabeth McNatt.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to
Habitat for Humanity International, 121 Habitat St., Americus, Ga.

Elizabeth Taylor
Elizabeth C. Taylor, age 52 of Marietta, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 25,2005.
Mrs. Taylor owned and operated Springbrook Christmas Tree Farm and was
secretary at Bells Ferry Elementary. She was a member of the Red Hat Society
and Mary©ˆs Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, David Taylor of Marietta; daughters,
Aubrey Tubiak and husband Brian and Jennifer Kellam and husband Greg, all of
Acworth; son, Michael Taylor of Kennesaw; sister, Suzanne Browning and
husband Glenn of Clearwater, Mi. Nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28 from Mary©ˆs
Memorial Baptist Church in Marietta with the Revs. Joey Dubois and Johnny
McPherson officiating. Burial was at Rolling Hills Memory Gardens in

Lucille Wilson
Mrs. Lucille C. Wilson, age 82 of Calhoun, passed away Friday, Jan. 28,2005.
She was born August 16, 1922 in Pickens County, a daughter of the late
Thomas Harley and Laura Jones Champion. She was a member of the Antioch
Baptist Church of Pickens County. Mrs. Wilson was also preceded in death by
her husband, Milford W. Wilson, and four brothers.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty W. Patterson of Calhoun;
sisters-in-law, Kathleen Champion of Hickory Flat and Betty Champion of
Jasper; grandchildren, Steve Quarles and wife Aletae, Joseph Parker and wife
Alisha, Greg Patterson and wife Shannon, all of Calhoun, and Scott Patterson
and wife Debbie of Russellville, Ar.; great-grandchildren, Shelly and
Anthony Parker, Ross and Katie Quarles, Zach Quarles and Melea Parker, all
of Calhoun, Cody, Tyler and Katie Patterson of Russellville; and
great-grandson, Bryson Parker of Calhoun.

Gladys Young
Mrs. Gladys T. Young, age 85 of Jasper, passed away Thursday, Jan. 27,
2005 at Mountain Health Care Center in Jasper.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and James Davey of
Jasper; sister, Florence Gibson of Saganaw, Mi.; granddaughters, Christine
Summerford of Jasper and Jennifer Davey of Marietta; and
great-granddaughter, Anna Summerford. Nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral Mass was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1 from the Chapel of
Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home with Father Charles Fisher officiating.
Interment followed in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Mi. Cagle
Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Goldie Shoup
Ms. Goldie M. Shoup, age 89 of Big Canoe in Jasper, Ga., passed away
Friday, Jan. 28, 2005 at her Big Canoe residence.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Ginny Shoup of
Big Canoe; daughter-in-law, Sheryl Shoup of New Castle, Pa.; sisters, Mary
Altman of Dubois, Pa. and Hazel Kinchen of Jamestown, Pa.; five
grandchildren, George Shoup, Eydie Clement, David Shoup, Mindi Cook and
Debbie Hayes; and three great-grandchildren. Ms. Shoup was preceded in death
by her husband, Louis (Buss) Shoup; son, Donald L. Shoup; brother, Howard
Carroll; and sister, Lena Melaney.
A memorial service was held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30 from Big Canoe
Chapel with Dr. Jim McCormick officiating. Instead of flowers, the family

M.C. Mathews, Sr.
Mr. M.C. Mathews, Sr., age 73 of Jasper, passed away Saturday, Jan. 29,
2005 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include his son, M.C. (Bud) Mathews of Canton; daughters,
Susie Jones of Canton, Denese Gramling and Dee Brandon, both of Jasper;
brother, Rembert Mathews of Jasper; sisters, Marie Hopkins of Woodstock and
Sue Boling of the Hinton Community. Three grandsons also survive.

Elsie Ellis
Mrs. Elsie Ellis, age 82 of Calhoun, formerly of Canton, passed away
Jan. 27, 2005 at LaFayette Health Care Center. She was a member of Mt. Zion
Church of God and was a housewife.
Survivors include her sons, Bobby Joe Ellis of Ellijay and the Rev.
Marvin Ellis of Canton; daughters, Hazel Kimsey and Helen Huskins, both of
Calhoun; sisters, Omie Brown, Calhoun, and Rebecca Mae Brown of Marietta.
Thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.

Glenda Reagan
Mrs. Glenda Diana Reagan, age 51 of Dawsonville, Ga., passed away
Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
She is survived by her husband, Howard Reagan of Dawsonville; sons,
Ronald, Fletcher and Hunter Reagan, all of Dawsonville; brothers, Douglas
Wilkins of Jasper, Danny Wilkins of Canton and Scott Wilkins of PickensCounty.

Pauline Pearson
Mrs. Pauline Boling Pearson, age 86 of Jasper, passed away Wednesday,
Jan. 19, 2005 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Bixie Pearson
of Chatsworth, Michael Pearson of Tate and Tim and Sylvia Pearson of Jasper;
grandchildren, Selena Roland and Marion Pearson; and
great-grandchildren, Faith and Will Roland.

Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Parker Benson officiating. Interment was
in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
