Charles Goss, Jr.
Mr. Charles Allen Goss, Jr., age 75 of Jasper, passed away Thursday,
Jan. 27, 2005 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
Mr. Goss was retired after over 30 years in the US Navy and continued
working for the US Government.
Survivors include his sons, Douglas, Scott and Curtis Barber; daughters,
Renee and Christy; brother, the Rev. Freddie C. Goss of Savannah, Ga.;
sisters, Dianne G. Adams of Marietta, Linda G. Harris of Jacksonville, Fl.
and Cynthia G. Berry of Acworth. Several grandchildren also survive.
A graveside service will be held at a later date in Lakemont Memorial
Garden Cemetery in Davidsonville, Md. The family requests in lieu of
flowers make donations to the American Cancer Society. Cagle Funeral Home was in
charge of the arrangements.
David Stargel
Mr. David Paul Stargel, age 76 of Jasper, passed away Saturday, Jan. 29,
2005 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Janice S. and Brian Fox
of Ball Ground; brother, Floyd Pendley of Maryville, Tn.; and onegreat-granddaughter.
The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005 at Cool
Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Martin officiating. Interment
followed in Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Charles,
Dennis, Branden, Tony and Steven Stargel and Tom Cook. The family did accept
flowers or donations may be made to Cool Springs Baptist Church

Sam Kendrick
Mr. Sam Kendrick, age 39 of the Hinton Community, passed away Saturday,
Jan. 29, 2005 at a family member©ˆs residence in Jasper.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Kendrick, and daughter, Elizabeth
Ashley Kendrick of Talking Rock; sons, John Ross Wilson and Samuel Jordon
Kendrick, both of Talking Rock; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lou Ann
and Hubert Teague and Charlotte and Tony Withrow of Ellijay; sister, Peggy
Kendrick of Ellijay; mother-in-law, Dorothy Wigington of Jasper;
sister-in-law, Mary Ann Griscom of Jasper; sister-in-law and brother-in-law,
Beth and David Turner of Jasper. Nieces and nephews also survive. Sam was
preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2 from the
Cagle Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. David Allen, Roy Johnson and Tony
Withrow officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are: Joe Hughes, Buddy Ellis, Brad Bruce, David Cagle,
Kelby Gartrell, Jody Moss and Walt Gurley.
Beatrice Childers
Mrs. Beatrice Childers, age 91 of Canton, passed away Monday, Jan. 31,
2005 at the Brian Center. She was a retired textile mill worker and a member
of the Salem Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Gene, Leroy and Alfred Childers, all of
Canton; daughters, Bea McCurley of Canton; sisters-in-law, Geri Young of
Chatsworth and Bess Young of Canton. Eight grandchildren, 22
great-grandchildren, 19 great-great-grandchildren and one
great-great-great-grandchild also survives.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2 from the
Salem Baptist Church with the Revs. Calvin Ball and Jerry Moody officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Sosebee Funeral Home is in
charge of the arrangements.
David Reagan
David Michael ©¯Mickey©˜ Reagan, age 60 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Monday, Feb. 7.
A native of Cobb County, Mr. Reagan moved to Jasper 16 years ago.
He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam War. He worked as a
bus driver for Greyhound for nine years and also operated a cabinet shop
for many years. When he moved to Jasper he provided maintenance work for
Jimmy Dunn©ˆs Convenience Stores for the past 16 years. Mr. Reagan was of the
Baptist faith.
Survivors include his mother, Myrtice Lewis of Acworth; sisters, Lina
Vann of Acworth and Hilda Norman of McDonough; and half-brother, Ed
Beeker, Blowing Rock, N.C. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Winkenhofer Pine
Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw with the Rev. Rex Cox officiating.
Burial was in New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Acworth.
William Smith
Mr. William Ervin Smith, age 49 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Feb. 7, 2005.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Anderson Smith of Jasper;
daughters and son-in-law, Brandy and Jason Wolfe of USAF England and Wendy Smith
of Marble Hill; step-son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Michelle Henry of
Bowling Green, Ky.; step-daughters and sons-in-law, Lorie and Joey

and step-father, Grace and Don Karns of Big Spring, Tx.; father and

Sola Worley
Mrs. Sola Mae Worley, age 84 of Talking Rock, passed away
Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005 at Wildwood Nursing Home.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Sue Worley
of Covington; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Robert F. Dobbs of
Talking Rock and Linda and Arthur B. Allred, Jr.. of Powder Springs. Eight
grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 from
Roper Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Buddy Roper officiating. Interment
was in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens. The family did accept flowers or

Peggy Atzrott
Mrs. Peggy Atzrott, age 54 of Jasper, passed away Sunday, Feb. 6,
2005 at her home.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Atzrott, Jasper; son, Matthew
Alan McKay, Holland, N.Y.; daughter, Lauri McKay, Palm Beach Garden, Fl.;
step-son, Brian Atzrott, Cheetowaga, N.Y.; step-daughters, Christine
Lagenfeld, Tonawanda, N.Y. and Laura Atzrott, Antonawanda, N.Y.;
sisters, Cathy Corcoran, Depew, N.Y., Jackie Spenser, Troy, N.Y., Diane
Humphrey, Pittsborough, N.C., and Debbie Kalczynski, Elma, N.Y.; and
grandchildren, Jake and Sierra McKay, Holland, N.Y.
The funeral service was held Tuesday at 7 p.m. from the Chapel of
Roper Funeral Home with the Rev. Mary Johnson officiating. The family asks in

Paul Argo, Sr.
Mr. Paul E. Argo, Sr., age 70 of Smyrna, passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005.
Mr. Argo was born in Atlanta and had been a resident of Smyrna for
40 years. He was employed by Price-Armstrong, Inc. from 1955 to 1995. He
owned the business the last 15 years of employment before retiring. Mr. Argo
played fast-pitch semi-pro softball for 20 years during the 1960s and 1970s.
He was a member of the NWSGA and former member of the Georgia Senior
Golfers, and also a member of the West Fulton Alumni Association. Mr.
Argo was a very loving and caring father and celebrated his 50th wedding
anniversary on Dec. 24, 2004.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Jodi McCook Argo of Jasper;
daughters, Tamara Jackson of Woodstock and Karen Allen of Norcross;
son, Paul Argo, Jr. of Alexandria, Al.; brother, Thomas W. Argo of Marietta;
and three sisters, Alta Herndon of Rex, Christine Sorrells of Smyrna and
Frances Barden of DeKalb County. Ten grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the St. Paul
United Methodist Church in Marietta with the Rev. Jacqueline Rose-Tucker
officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the

Agnes Carver
Mrs. Agnes Carver, age 85 of Jasper, passed away Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005
at her residence. She was a member of Jasper Chapter #479 Order of the
Eastern Star for many years.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Daniel
Hammontree, Talking Rock, Helen and Jack Davis and Frances and Gid
Olsen, all of Jasper; daughter-in-law, Janie Carver; sisters, Virginia
Barnhardt, Holly Springs, and Ruth Johnson, Canton. Thirteen grandchildren and 18
great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Carver was preceded in death by
her husband, Arthur ©¯Ott©˜ Carver; and sons and daughter-in-law, Harlan and
Dot Carver and Weldon Carver.
The funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. from Antioch
Baptist Church with the Revs. Hollis Crook, Clyde Brock and Ron Rucker
officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were:
Jay and Randy Carver, Don and David Hammontree, Gary and Jim Moore and Steve
and Mike Olsen. Jasper Chapter #479 was in charge of the graveside service.

Virginia Jenkins
Mrs. Virginia Jenkins, age 80 of the Waleska Salacoa Community, passed
away Friday, Feb. 11, 2005 at the Gordon County Hospital.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Jack Jenkins and Tim
and Donna Jenkins, all of East Ellijay, and Andy and Gena Jenkins, Waleska;
sisters, Ruby Patterson of Ranger and Pearl Bennett of Waleska. Twelve
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Jenkins
was preceded in death by her husband, Buren Jenkins; and a son, Lyn
Jenkins.
The funeral service was held Sunday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel
of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Jimmy Hogan, Billy Wallace and
Brandon Chapman officiating. Interment was in Goshen Baptist Church Cemetery in
Cherokee County. Pallbearers were: Cline Patterson, Wayne and Joe
Bennett, Doyle Harmon, Billy Clark, Zack Anderson, Levi Jenkins and Keith Cline.
Ella Free
Ms. Ella Free, age 87 of Ball Ground, Ga., passed away Sunday, Feb.
13, 2005 at Piedmont Mountainside Medical Center in Jasper following an
extended illness.
Ms. Free was the daughter of the late William and Annie Brackett Free
and was also preceded in death by a brother, Grady Free; and sister,
Elsie Mae Bell. She was a native and former resident of Lumpkin County, Ga.
who had lived in Pickens County for many years. Ms. Free was a homemaker
and member of Antioch Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.
She is survived by a son, Paul Free, Dahlonega; and several nieces,
nephews and other relatives.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15 from
Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega. Interment was in the Antioch Cemetery
in Lumpkin County.
James Weaver
Mr. James Edward Weaver, age 63 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Monday, Dec. 18, 2006 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
Survivors include a son, Jamie Weaver of Jasper; and brothers, Benny Weaver of Ellijay and Lawrence Weaver of Canton. Four grandchildren and three nieces also survive.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20 at Lake Forest Memorial Park on Camp Road in Jasper. Roper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Margaret Satterfield
Mrs. Margaret Melo Satterfield, age 90 of Marble Hill, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006 at her residence.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Jimmy Weaver; daughter-in-law, Joan Satterfield; brother, John F. Medlin; sisters, Jeanette Lawson, Dale Lowe and Hazel Grinnell; and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Wesley Weaver, Dena and Barry Jay, Scott and Cynthia Satterfield, Adam and Jacob Peek, Kayla, Caitlin and Aleigha Satterfield. Mrs. Satterfield was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Satterfield, and son, Billy Satterfield.

Odell Young
Mrs. Odell Young, age 79 of Fairmount, Ga., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006 at Gordon Hospital following a brief illness.
Mrs. Young was born on June 17, 1927 in Pickens County, the daughter of the late Andrew and Savanah Chastain Young. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Young, on Dec. 30, 2000.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Travis Pack, Ranger, and Diane and George Wilson of Calhoun; sons and daughter-in-law, Berley and Glenda Young, Ranger, and Steve and Tex Young, both of Fairmount; brother and sister-in-law, Onice and Mamie Young, Ringgold; sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Annie Mae Young; and special neighbors, Bob Langham and Mr. and Mrs. Rod Mann. Thirteen grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive.

Jackie Roper
Jackie Gorden Roper, age 64 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Friday, Dec. 9,
2005 at his home.
Jackie was born Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1941, in Fannin County, Ga. to the late
Everett Roper and Bannah Chastain Roper. He was a member of Sunlight Baptist
Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Roper; children, Jamie, Jody and Jeremy
Roper, Joy Zook, Jackie Lynn, Jennifer and Jessica Roper, all of Jasper;
sisters, Lola Johnson of Eton and Glenda Cassidy of Ball Ground;
granddaughters, Abagail and Hannah Zook.
The funeral service was held Monday, Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. from Toccoa
Baptist Church with the Revs. Kenny Cox, Roy Elrod and Roy Smith
officiating. Interment followed in Toccoa Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving
as pallbearers were: Billy, Bobby and Ricky Davis, Arnold Hutchinson, David
