Rochelle Jordan
Rochelle Jordan, age 83 of Ball Ground, Ga., passed away at Piedmont
Mountainside Hospital Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, William and Theresa
Jordan of Cumming, Robert and Sharon Jordan of Powder Springs, Ga., Hulon
and Brenda Jordan and Jackie and Karen Jordan, all of Ball Ground; brother,
Melvin Cowart of Ellijay, Ga.; and sister, Brenda Wood of Jasper. Nine
grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Thursday, Dec. 15 at 1 p.m. from Sharp
Mountain Baptist Church in Ball Ground. Interment was in Ball Ground Church
Cemetery with the Revs. Greg Hamilton and Horace Richards officiating. Huey
Funeral Home of Canton was in charge of the arrangements.
Gloria Starks
Gloria Delores Cole Starks, 78, died in her home near Kerrville, Tx. on
Dec. 12, 2005.
Mrs. Starks was born March 19, 1927 in Chicago Heights, Il., the daughter
of Walter LeRoy Cole and Marjorie Delores Dunlap. She was baptized on April
10, 1938 at the First Presbyterian Church in Chicago Heights where the
family was long time members. She graduated from high school in Rock Island,
Illinois on June 8, 1945. She married first Raymond Driver on April 13, 1947
at Central Presbyterian Church in Rock Island where she was a member; they
had two children. In Rock Island, Gloria worked as a telephone operator for
Illinois Bell Telephone Company and as an auditing clerk with the Supreme
Office of Royal Neighbors of America. She moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico
in 1953 to be near her birth family that had relocated there in 1951. She
was employed as a secretary with Driver-Miller Plumbing Company and also
with the City of Albuquerque from 1967-1977. She married Charles Henry
Starks on Feb. 15, 1971 at Rio Grande Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque
where she was a long time member. After retiring from her job with the City
of Albuquerque, and when Charles retired in 1982, they sold their home and
began full-time recreation vehicle traveling. They bought their home near
Kerrville in 1989 and still continued part-time traveling, usually spending
summers in Colorado. They were long time members of St. Paul’s United
Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Charles, are her children, one son,
Donald Driver of Howard, Co.; and one daughter, Linda Driver Jones of
Jasper, Ga.; one step-daughter, Amy Starks Rigney of Pittsboro, N.C.; and
one step-son, Fred Starks of Jerseyville, Il.; nine grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter Cole of Albuquerque. She was
preceded in death by one sister, Lois Cole Wilson.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Friday Dec. 16 at St. Paul’s
United Methodist Church in Kerrville with Rev. Sherry Strain officiating.
Gloria’s remains were cremated and put to rest in the National Cemetery in
Santa Fe, New Mexico. Arrangements were under
the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
Terry Floyd
Terry Kimsey Floyd, age 57 of St. Marys, passed away at his home Monday,
Dec. 12, 2005.
Terry was born to the late Roy and Kate Floyd of Jasper, Ga. on Oct. 16,
1948. He was a resident of St. Marys for the last 19 years. He graduated
from Oxford College of Emory University in 1968 and Emory College in 1970
with a Bachelor of Arts in History and was a member of the Sigma Chi
fraternity. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Georgia
School of Law in 1973 and was admitted to the Georgia Bar Association in
that same year. Terry has been a partner at the law firm of Smith & Floyd
since 1985. He served as the Juvenile Court Judge for Camden County since
1986, the St. Marys City Attorney since 1990 and as a Judge of Superior
Court, pro hoc vice, for the Brunswick Judicial Circuit for several years.
Terry is survived by his wife of 33 years, Nancy Tyre Floyd of St. Marys;
son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Phoebe Floyd of Dallas, Ga.; and
daughter, Catie Floyd and boyfriend, Scott McDermott of Atlanta.
The funeral service was held Friday, Dec. 16 at 11 o’clock at St. Marys
United Methodist Church with Pastor Derek McAleer officiating. Pallbearers
were Danny Sykes, Charles Moss, Laurie Fowler, Lynn Cowart and Roxanne
McKeon. Honorary pallbearers were: James R. Tuten, Jr., Amanda Williams,
E.M. Wilkes III and Stephen G. Scarlett, all of the Brunswick Judicial
Superior Court; Senior Judge A. Blenn Taylor, Jr., Senior Judge William R.
Killian, Senior Judge Robert L. Scoggins, all retired from the Brunswick
Judicial Superior Court; Probate Court Judge Martin Gillette; Juvenile
Judges George M. Roundtree, O.T. Nichols, Ken Smith, Alex Johnson, and Don
Manning, retired; and Magistrate Court Judges Harvey Fry and Joe Strickland,
retired. Interment followed in Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys. The family
requests memorial donations be made to the CASA organization, PO Box 5218,
St. Marys, Ga., 31558, Attn: Jessica Parkes. Edo Miller Camden Chapel
Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Joann Holbrook
Ms. Joann Holbrook, age 71 of Jasper, passed away Monday, Dec. 12, 2005
at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Carolyn
Bryant, Tate, Mark and Teresa Bryant, Ellijay, and Jimmy Bryant, Jasper;
brothers, Buddy Holbrook, Augusta, Ga., and Paul Holbrook, Ontario, Canada;
sisters, Carolyn Pair, Cumming, Ga., and Angie Chapman, Conyers, Ga. Four
grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14 from the
Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Alton Burrell officiating.
Donations may be made to help with funeral expenses or donate to the
American Diabetic Association.

Bridgett Young
Mrs. Sabrina Wilson, age 26, and her daughter, Bridgett Young, age 6 of
Jasper, passed away Monday evening, Dec. 12, 2005 as the result of an
automobile accident on Hwy. 108 near Jasper.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by her husband, Travis Wilson, Jasper; son, Dylan
Wilson, Jasper; brothers, Mitchell, Chris and Cody Wilson, all of Jasper;
step-brothers, Darrell McClure, Ellijay, and Randy McClure, Gastonia, N.C.;
mother and step-father, Lisha and Marvin McClure, Jasper; father and
step-mother, Michael and Glenda Wilson, Talking Rock; grandparents, Barbara
Childers, Jasper, and Alice Wilson, Talking Rock; sisters-in-law, Lenora
Wilson and Daniella Gains, both of Jasper, and Amber Wilson, Waleska. Three
nephews also survive.
Bridgett Young is survived by her father, Andy Young, Jasper; brother,
Dylan Wilson, Jasper; step-father, Travis Wilson, Jasper; grandmother and
step-grandfather, Lisha and Marvin McClure, Jasper, grandparents, Michael

Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Townsend officiating. Pallbearers for
Sabrina were: Ricky, Mitchell, Chris and Cody Wilson, Terry Hancock and
Lanny Fowler. Pallbearers for Bridgett were: Joey Childers, Darrell and

W.J. Barrett
Mr. W.J. Barrett, age 92 of Canton, passed Sunday morning, Dec. 18, 2005
at Cameron Hall Assisted Living in Canton, Ga.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and
great-nephews. He was preceded in death by seven sisters and three brothers.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 11:30 a.m. from the
Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. David Chancey officiating.
Interment was in Ball Ground Baptist Church Cemetery. The family did accept
floral offerings or donations may be made to Cool Springs Baptist Church,
Baracca Class, Tate, Ga. 30177.
Kate Griffeth
Miss Kate Griffeth, age 84 of Flowery Branch, Ga. and formerly of
Atlanta, passed Friday evening at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in
Gainesville, Ga.
Survivors include her brothers, Ty Cobb Griffeth, Huntsville, Al., and
Bill Griffeth, Gainesville; nephews, Robert Griffeth, Gainesville; niece,
Julie Hubbard Henshaw and husband Bob, Lula, Ga.; great-nephews, Joey, Jake
and Josh Henshaw; a great-niece, Jordan Kate Henshaw, all of Lula.
A graveside service was held Sunday, Dec. 18 at 3 p.m. at Long Swamp
Baptist Church Cemetery. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Brenda Long
Brenda Jean Long, age 57 of Talking Rock, Ga., passed Sunday afternoon,
Dec. 18, 2005 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
Survivors include her husband, James Long, Talking Rock; parents, Dawson
and Jean Childress, Lithia Springs; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Amy
Long, Talking Rock; daughters and sons-in-law, Lyn Entrekin, Dallas, Ga.,
Brenda Denise and Jon Shipp, Douglasville, and Christine and Richard
Russell, Dallas, Ga.; brothers, David Childress, Lithia Springs, and Terry
Childress, Buford; sister, Deborah Morgan, Dallas, Ga. Eleven grandchildren
and one great-grandchild also survives.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. from
Talking Rock First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial
Gardens with Michael Entrekin, Jon, Nathan and Josh Shipp, Richard Russell

Clifford Rogers
Mr. Clifford Eugene Rogers, age 23 of Talking Rock, passed away
suddenly Friday, Nov. 19, 2004 as the result of an automobile accident.
Survivors include his parents, Daryl and Ava Rogers, Jasper, and
Virginia Desay Dane of Dodd City, Tx.; grandparents, Gene and Jeannie
Rogers, Talking Rock, Ed and Pauline Stephens, Jasper, and Artie and
Marguerite Hearod of Oklahoma; great-grandmother, Ethel Hicks,
Woodstock; brothers, Cody Joe Rogers, Talking Rock, and Eddie Cheatham, Jasper;
sister, Maria Godfrey, Jasper; niece and nephew, Morgan and Kendall Silvers,
Oakman, Ga.
The funeral service was held Monday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. from Cool
Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Franklin King and Art Stanford
officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge
of the arrangements.
Jean Gunter
Jean Gunter, of Jasper, Ga., the loving wife of Wilbur (Bob) Gunter,
went on to be with her Lord Jesus on Nov. 17, 2004.
Born Nov. 2, 1927, in Quincy, Il., she was the mother of five
children: Larry Myers of Auburn, Al., Annie Watts of Anchorage, Ak., Dan Myers of
Woodstock, Ga., Teri Moschetti of Tucson, Az. and Kurt Myers of Ramona, Ca.,
who will never forget how she shaped their lives with love. Ten
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren had the joy of being loved
by her. Everyone who knew her will feel the loss of a shining spirit and
will miss her quick smile and gentle ways.
All who wish to honor her at a memorial service are invited to the
First Baptist Church in Jasper at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4.
Wendy Taylor
Wendy Taylor died peacefully at her home in Bent Tree Nov. 22,
2004. Cremation took place Nov. 24. Sisters Jean and Pamela and brothers Ivan and Jack thank her many
friends for their heartfelt love and support during her illness, and condolences on her passing.
Family and friends gathered to celebrate her life at her home on Sunday, Nov. 28.
Louis Laskowski
Louis P. Laskowski, age 82 of Jasper, passed away on Nov. 22, 2004.
Lou is survived by his wife, Pauline; son and daughter-in-law, John
and Cheryl; and grandchildren, Sarah and Joshua.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of
Jasper on Friday, Dec. 3 at 3 p.m. Mr. Laskowski shared the Gift of Life as a
tissue donor. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to
the Salvation Army, St. Jude©ˆs Children©ˆs Hospital or a charity of your
choice. The Cremation Society of the South is in charge of the arrangements.
Carolyn Fields
Mrs. Carolyn ©¯Ma©˜ Fields, age 80 of Jasper, passed away Sunday, Nov. 28,
2004 at St. Joseph Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Betty and Doug Turney and
Joyce Weaver, all of Jasper; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bud and Louise
Duncan, Bob and Barbara Duncan, Don and Flaudie Duncan, Bernice, Iris
and Barbara Duncan, all of Jasper; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mamie and
Mark Whitfield, Mary and Ray Qualls and Faye Bennett, all of Jasper;
grandchildren, Sammy Fowler, James and John Weaver, Carrie Fowler,
Justin Bowers, Austin, Shawn and Brent Turney; great-grandchildren, Sarah,
Callie, Ali, Solomon and Cameron Weaver, Caleb Beasley and Cassidy Thomas.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1 from Long
Swamp Baptist Church with the Revs. Moss Fountain, Harold Johnson, Edwin
Weaver and Buddy Roper officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. The

Roy Carver
Mr. Roy Weldon Carver, age 76 of Jasper, passed away Friday, Nov.
26, 2004 at Mountainside Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Janie Buchanan Carver, Jasper; son and
daughter-in-law, Jay Sanford and Sandy Carver, Jasper; daughter and
son-in-law, Joy and Revere Fowler, Jasper; grandchildren, Corey and
Cade Fowler and Jenny Carver. Mr. Carver is also survived by Jean Carver
Bennett,Dalton, Agnes Carver, Frances Olsen and Helen Davis, all of Jasper,
Glenda Hammontree, Talking Rock; and several nieces and nephews. He was
preceded indeath by his parents, Sanford and Vinnie Lee Bruce Carver.
The funeral service was held Sunday, Nov. 28 at 2 p.m. from the
Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Dr. Charlie Boggan and the Rev. Larry
Waddell officiating. Interment was in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Serving as
pallbearers were: Charlie Carver, Buddy Edmondson, Larry Ray, Mike
Denson, Corey and Cade Fowler.
