Charles Smith
Mr. Charles Smith, age 74 of Titusville, Fl., formerly of Holly
Springs, Ga., passed away Friday, Nov. 26, 2004 in Titusville.
Survivors include sisters and brother-in-law, Clarice and William
Meyerson, Jasper and Marie Collins, Conyers. Numerous nieces and
nephews also survive.
The visitation will be Wednesday evening, Dec. 1 at Cagle Funeral
Home The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2 from the Chapel
of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Claude Smithmire officiating.
Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Jasper with Pickens Star
Lodge #220 in charge of the Masonic graveside service.
William Manning
Mr. William Manning, age 82 of Jasper, passed away at Northside Hospital Forsyth.
Survivors include his sons, Dave Hosea of Cumming and Dan Hosea of Jasper; daughters, Cynthia Lynch of Newberg, In. and Shirley Vinning of Charlotte, N.C.; sister, Virginia Ard of Decatur. Six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23 from the First Baptist Church in Jasper. Interment was in the Floral Hills Memory Gardens at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Charles O. Walker officiating. Pallbearers were: Terry, Hershel, Mitch and Mike Camp and Ben and Alex Allgood. Roper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
John Hancock
Mr. John C. Hancock, age 88 of Waleska, passed away Monday, Dec. 22, 2003 at Northside Hospital Cherokee. He was a farmer and member of Salacoa Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sons, J.C., Tommy and David Hancock, all of Canton, and Ronnie Hancock of Waleska; daughters, Ethel Stewart and Linda Payne, both of Waleska, Wanda Parker of Canton, Carol White of Blue Ridge and Deborah Long of Calhoun; brothers, James Hancock of Jasper and Hubert Hancock of Virginia Beach, Va. Seventeen grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24 from the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Travis Childers and Randy Cloer officiating. Interment followed in the Jerusalem Church Cemetery. Interment was in Jerusalem Church Cemetery.
Cleo Walker
Mrs. Cleo Stanfield Walker, age 84 of Woodstock, passed away Friday, Dec. 26, 2003 at WellStar Kennestone Hospital.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Bill and Lynda Walker, Nelson, and Joe Walker, Woodstock; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and J.D. Childers, Woodstock; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Ann Stanfield, Jasper; sisters and brother-in-law, Ollie Baranoski, Jimmie Lee Eaton, Peggy Mosley, all of Jasper, Alene Tinch, Calhoun, and Hazel and Chet Austin, Kennesaw. One grandchild also survives.
The funeral service was held Sunday, Dec. 28 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Marvin Chatham and Myron Chatham officiating. Interment was in Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Dan, Chase, Marty and Ryan Mosley, David Austin and Gary Eaton.
Thomas Cloys
Thomas G. Cloys, age 73 of Jasper, passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta.
Mr. Cloys was originally from Union City, Tn., Obion County. He moved to Georgia in 1962 where he worked for Dixie Pipeline Co. until his retirement in March 1993.
Survivors include his his wife of 34 years, Betsy; son, Thomas William Cloys and wife Heather, Woodstock; daughters, Lisa Robertson and husband Chris, Tate, Karen Scott, Conyers, Lisa Ann Borella and husband Jay, Tucson, Az., and Susan Cloys, Decatur; brother, Robert Cloys and wife Judy, Cadiz, Ky.; sisters, Betty Knox of Loganville and Faye Young of Searcy, Ar. Seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service was held Monday, Dec. 22 at 1 p.m. from Tate United Methodist Church in Tate with the Rev. Parker Benson officiating. The family requested that in lieu of floral arrangements, donations may be made to Tate United Methodist Church, PO Box 116, Tate, Ga. 30177. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Earl Godfrey
Mr. Earl Godfrey, age 78 of Talking Rock, passed away Friday, Dec. 19, 2003 in Augusta.
Survivors include stepson, Jerry Elliott, Alabama; and one brother, Ceburn Godfrey, Jasper.
The funeral service was held Sunday, Dec. 21 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Kirk officiating. Interment was in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
Brenda Boyd
Mrs. Brenda Lee Boyd, age 39 of Jasper, passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003 at her residence.
Survivors include her father, Larry Warren, Atlanta, mother, Louise Warren, Milledgeville; son, Danny Banks, Jasper; daughters and son-in-law, Crystal and David Roberts and Jessica Banks, all of Jasper; and one brother, Scott Warren, Milledgeville.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Dec. 23 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Huey Holloway officiating. Interment was in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Gary Silvers, Scott and Larry Warren, Eddie Phillips, Josh Anderson and Jason McHarthur.
Arzonia Stiles
Ms. Arzonia Stiles, age 78 of Jasper, passed away Friday, Dec. 19, 2003 at Mountainside Medical Center.
Survivors include grandson, Terry Wofford, Jasper; granddaughter, Lisa Bode, Jasper; and sister, Zeba Richards, Jasper. Five great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Monday, Dec. 22 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. John Ridings Sr. officiating. Interment was in Sharptop Baptist Church Cemetery.
Nora Rowland
Mrs. Nora Tippens Rowland (wife of the late Rev. Pearl Rowland), age 85 of Ball Ground, passed away Thursday, Dec. 25 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Sue Rowland Candy and Stephen, Rex, Ga., and Elaine Rowland Brannen and John, Fairmount; grandchildren, Colleen and Paul Candy, Rex, Keith Craig and Elaine, Kennesaw, and Kirk Craig, Tallapoosa, Ga.
The funeral service was held Sunday, Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. from Free Hope Baptist Church with the Revs. Autry Dean and Earl Wilkie officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Clifton Jordan, Truman Davis, Marty Dorsey, Kenny Prather, Steve and Wayne Tippens. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
C.W. Burgess
Mr. C.W. Burgess, age 71 of Jasper, passed away Friday, Dec. 19, 2003 at his residence.
Survivors include his son, Steve Burgess, Jasper; daughters and son-in-law, Betty and Jerry Mason, Canton, and Carol Hren, Holly Springs; sisters, Marjorie Elliott and Cheryl Jarvis, both of Cumming. Ten grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and Bernice Burgess also survive.
The funeral service was held Sunday, Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Dewey Medlin and Bobby McFarland officiating. Interment was in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Larry Watson, Paul Kiker, Alvin Young, Charlie Long, Lee Mullins and Buford Blalock. Mike Chumley served as an honorary pallbearer.
James Argo
Mr. James (Babe) Argo, age 81 of Jasper (formerly a long-time resident of Cobb County), passed away Friday, Dec. 19, 2003 at Northside Cherokee Hospital inCanton.
Survivors include his wife, Lurline Argo, Jasper; sons, Joe and Preston Argo, both of Athens, Oh. Seven grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Monday, Dec. 22 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Pritchett officiating. Interment was in Lake Forest Memorial Park in Jasper with local Chapter #47 DAV in charge of military graveside services. Pallbearers were: Walt Doster, Jim Clark, Dale Ellis, Gerhard Sauer, Jack Borders and Bill Spaugh.
Ferman Evans
Mr. Ferman Evans, age 77 of Fairmount, passed away Monday, Dec. 22, 2003 at Floyd Medical Hospital in Rome.
Survivors include his brother, Herman Evans, Ludville; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Dec. 23 at 2 p.m. from Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Clay Fountain officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Charles Evans, Gene Clark, Grant Alvis, Russell Offutt, Damen Boling and Barry Evans. Glenn Yancy was honorary pallbearer. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Tamer Trippe
Mrs. Tamer Trippe, age 84 of Jasper, passed away Friday, Dec. 19, 2003 at Wildwood Health Care Center.
Survivors include her son, Jeff Howard Trippe, Jasper; daughter, Tammy St. John, Jasper; brother, Dee Reece. Five grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Sunday, Dec. 21 at 4 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Kenneth Kirk and Charles O. Walker officiating. Interment was in the Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery.
Brenda Mae Kirk
Brenda Mae Kirk, age 53 of Vancover, BC, Canada, a resident of Lake City, Fl., passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Ms. Kirk had lived in Lake City since 1998 coming from Hollywood, Fl. where she had lived most of her life. She was of the Mormon faith and loved spending time with her family, friends and working on photo albums. Ms. Kirk was preceded in death by her father, Charles Kirk, in 1982.
Survivors include her mother, Edna (Bernie) Chestney, Ontario, Canada; daughters, Christina (Wade) Burlingam and Monique L. Kirk, both of Lake City; sons, Lloyd R. (Gina) Crowe, Talking Rock, Ga., and Phillip C. Crowe, Jasper, Ga.; sister, Lorna Kirk, Lake Lake, Fl.;brother, Bob (Gloria) Kirk, New Orleans, La. Also surviving are grandchildren, Chase, age 4, and Megan, age 2, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Dec. 23 at 3 p.m. in the Sherrill-Guerry Memorial Chapel with Bob Kirk officiating.
Blaine Caywood
Blaine L. Caywood, age 63 of Angola, In., passed away Dec. 27, 2003 at his home.
Mr. Caywood was born Feb. 22, 1940 in Angola, son of Alonzo P. and the late Daisy (Wheaton) Caywood. He worked for 28 years at Angola Metal Spinners and then was co-owner of Caywood Metal Spinning. He was a member of Independent Full Gospel Church.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Caywood of Angola; father, Alonzo P. Caywood, Angola; son, Alonzo Paul Caywood, Jasper; daughters, Julie Conley, Ft. Wayne, In., Jeanna Patterson, Angola, and Nicole Southerland, Talking Rock, Ga.; sisters, Beverly Versten, Chicago, Il., June Haluch and Janice Clark, both of Angola. Eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joni Caywood in 1964, and two great-grandchildren, Paige Nicole and Jordan.
The funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31 from Weicht Funeral Home inAngola with Pastor Sam Weimer officiating. Interment was in Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola.
