Jimmy Hulsey
Mr. Jimmy Hulsey, age 45 of Talking Rock, Ga., passed away Thursday, May
5, 2005 at Cartersville Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Hulsey, Talking Rock; mother, Grace
Carver, Jasper; son, Travis Hulsey, Talking Rock; daughter, Shanna Mariah
Hulsey, Talking Rock; and two sisters, Betty Jean Mullins and Jeannett Lee,
both of Jasper.
The funeral service was held Saturday, May 7 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel
of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Ralph Harper and Herman Bell
officiating. Interment was in the Hulsey Family Cemetery. Pallbearers were:
Bart and Warren Padgett, Jerry Hancock, Frank Harper, Randy Thompson and Guy
Mullins.
William Boatner
Mr. William Randolph (Randy) Boatner, age 57 of Jasper, Ga., passed away
April 28, 2005.
Randy graduated from North Cobb High School and served in the Navy four
years. He was an Eagle Scout and was previously employed by Southern Bell.
Later he became the manager of his own contracting firm in Kennesaw.
He is survived by his mother, Helen C. Boatner, Kennesaw; son, Seth
Daniel, Whitinsville, Ma.; sisters, Connie Tudor, Jasper, Phillis Kendall,
Smyrna, and Gail Cavitt, Marietta; aunts, Lee Harlan, Gainesville, and Betty
Hood, Marietta.
Contributions may be made to the Jasper Methodist Church of Jasper.

James Carver
James C. “Pap” Carver, age 80 of Smyrna, Ga., passed away Tuesday, May
3, 2005.
Pat was in the service station business for 50 plus years. He was an
avid NASCAR fan as well. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Nancy Carver; son, Jack
Carver; daughter, Barbara Miller, both of Smyrna; sisters, Bertie Owensby
and Bertha Lee Gibson, both of Jasper; grandchildren, Michael Miller of
Kennesaw, Christy Kendrick of Smyrna and David Carver of Marietta. Five
great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 5 from Mayes
Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta with the Rev. Joey DuBois officiating.
Joyce Tash
Mrs. Joyce Wood Tash, age 67 of Bent Tree, passed away Friday, May 6,
2005 at Tranquility Hospice in Austell.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Dick Tash of Bent Tree; son, Mark
Oesterle of Atlanta, Robert Oesterle of St. Augustine, and David Tash of
Canton; step-son, John Tash of Atlanta; brother, Larry Wood of Ocala, Fl.;
and grandchildren, Marla, Anna, Cole and Emilie Oesterle, Ian and Alex
Goldberger.
Joyce’s life taught us all about humble living, loving and being
positive. We will miss her dearly. The good news is, she’s still alive.
Because of her relationship with Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, she is
enjoying eternal life in Heaven. The resurrection of our Lord has paved the
way for Joyce and all of us who call on Him as Savior and Lord.
A memorial service for Joyce will be held at Foothills Community Church
on Thursday, May 12 at 11 a.m.
Bud Whitehill
Mr. Bud Whitehill, age 61 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Thursday morning,
May 5, 2005 at Wellstar-Paulding Hospital in Dallas, Ga.
Survivors include his sons, Kevin Whitehill of Jasper, Tim Whitehill of
Talking Rock, Chris and Simon Whitehill, both of Florida; sisters, Norma
Jean Crew, Dallas, Ga., Eleanor Morgan, Douglasville, and Gayle Carter,
Cedartown. Five grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service was held Saturday, May 7 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel
of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde Brock officiating. Interment
followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
Hardy Parker
Mr. Hardy M. Parker, age 80 of Jasper, Ga., passed away at his residence
Wednesday, May 4, 2005.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Parker, Jasper; step-son, James Reed,
Hickory Flat Community; step-daughters, Louise Duncan, Jasper, and Dolly
Pendley, Marble Hill; sister, Bonnie Champion, Hiawassee. Eleven
grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also
survive.
The funeral service was held Friday, May 6 at 2 p.m. from Four Mile
Baptist Church with the Revs. Barry Payne, Grunt Adams and Hollis Crook
officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Curtis Roland,
Eric Duncan, Lanier Hogan, Randy Reed, C.J. Champion and Larry Buchanan
serving as pallbearers. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
John Cantrell
Mr. John Earl Cantrell, age 79 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Friday, May
6, 2005 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Retha Fay
Cantrell, Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Darren Maddox, Jasper;
brothers and sisters-in-law, Lamar and Rachael Cantrell, Marietta, Tommy and
Thelma Cantrell, Tate, Larry and Angie Cantrell and Jackie and Colleen
Cantrell, all of Jasper; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Crowe, Marble
Hill, Ramona and Art Gay, Dade City, Fl., and Sue and Roy Boling, Jasper.
Seven grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Monday, May 9 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of
Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Larry Turner and Alfred Rickett
officiating. Interment was in Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Jackie, Tommy, Lamar and Larry Cantrell and Johnny and
Jimmy Philyaw.
Harley Grogan
Mr. “Harley” Eugene Grogan, age 65 of Talking Rock, passed away April 25, 2004 at his residence.
Survivors include his ex-wife, Mildred H. Grogan of Canton; sons, Kevin Eugene Grogan of Woodstock and Stevie Grogan; daughters, Kimberly Lynn McGraw, Joy Worley and Patricia Lynn Grogan, all of Jasper; Mary Ellen Bondoerant of Woodstock and Velma Jean Bondoerant of Canton; brother, Harold Dean Grogan of Gainesville. Sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 28 from Concord Baptist Church with the Rev. Max Padgett officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Roper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
James Clark
Mr. “Jimmy” James Monroe Clark, age 67 of Jasper, passed away April 28, 2004 at Mountainside Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta Clark of Jasper; sons, David Clark of Jasper, Randy and Greg Clark, both of Blairsville; daughter, Donna Pope of Blairsville; step-sons, James and Len Hett, both of Jasper, and Jeff Hett of Lakeland, Fl.; step-daughter, Kimberly Southern of Jasper; brother, Phil Clark of Cumming; sister, Bertie Carnes of Cumming. Twelve grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 30 from the Roper Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Mauldin officiating. Interment was in Lake Forest Memorial Park.
Alexine Gibson
Alexine Gibson died on Saturday May 8, 2004 in Monroe, Ga. She had been in a personal care home there for several years.
Years ago she was Sunbeam Director for the Georgia Baptist Woman’s Missionary Union.
Alexine moved from this position to be the personal secretary to Dr. Searcy S. Garrison, executive director of the Georgia Baptist Convention. She served in this capacity until Dr. Garrison retired.
She was a devoted, thorough and dependable Servant in the Lord’s work - in her church, in the WMU and in the Georgia Baptist Convention.
In her later years she was cared for by her dear friends, Mrs. Lynn Franklin Goings and Dixie and Bob Franklin of Monroe.
Mike Heath
Mr. Mike Heath, age 22 of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2004 in Paulding County.
Survivors include his father and mother, Terry and Danette Heath, Jasper;grandfather, Michael Vaughn, Toccoa; grandmother, Patsy Heath, Ellijay; great-grandmother, Izzie Thacker, Nelson; brothers, Jesse and Terry Alfred Heath, Jr., both of Jasper.
The funeral service was held Friday, May 7 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Aaron Adams and Tom McTaggart officiating. Interment was in the Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Terry Alfred Heath, Jr., Brian Sprague, Shane and Keith Abernathy, Barny Woernlein and Kasey Hunter. The family did accept flowers or donations may be made to help with funeral expenses.
J.D. Childers
Mr. J.D. Childers, age 76 of Woodstock, passed away Friday, May 7, 2004 at Woodstock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Walker Childers of Woodstock Nursing Center; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Linda Walker, Nelson, and Joe Walker, Woodstock. Several aunts and cousins also survive.
A graveside service was held Saturday, May 8 at 2 p.m. from Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Holbert officiating. The family did accept flowers or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Jim Stowe
Mr. Jim Stowe, age 74 of Port St. John, Fl., passed away May 6, 2004 at his residence.
Survivors are his wife, Patsy Stowe, Port St. John; son, Gary Vaughn, Cumming; daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Dan Young, Clayton, Ga., Dale and Rick Britt, Bethlehem, Ga., and Karen and Mick McLaughlin, Kennesaw, Ga.; brothers, Timmy and Robert Stowe, both of New Smyrna Beach, Fl., and Kenneth and Larry Stowe, Scottsmoor, Fl. Nine grandsons, one step-grandson and one step-granddaughter also survive.
The funeral service was held Sunday, May 9 at 4 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Mick McLaughlin, Ricky Padgett and Bob Self officiating. Interment was in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers were the grandsons: Kris Langley, Jason, David and Daniel Britt, Brad and Brian Vaughn, Jonathan, Andrew and Jacob McLaughlin. Loy Johnson
Mr. Loy O. Johnson, age 89 of Jasper, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2004 at Mountain Health Care Center. He was an ordained Baptist minister and retired from Lockheed. Mr. Johnson was an Army veteran and member of the Local 709 Union. Survivors include his wife, Adez Johnson of Jasper; daughters and son-in-law, Vanessa Harbin of Jasper and Nancy and Lonnie Sexton of Ball Ground; grandsons, Joseph Harbin and Jonathan Sexton. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 11 from Sosebee Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Buddy Roper and Melvin Godfrey officiating. Interment followed in Cherokee Memorial Park.
Audrey Grace Upson
Audrey Grace Upson was born on Oct. 15, 2003 and blessed us until she went to the comforting arms of Jesus on May 8, 2004.She was diagnosed before birth with a rare chromosomal disorder called Trisomy 18 or Edward’s Syndrome. She is survived by her loving parents, Major Kevin and Mrs. Sherry Upson; and her adoring big brother, Hunter, who currently reside in Fayetteville, N.C. The family formerly lived in Jasper and were friends with many members of the community.
She is also survived by her paternal grandparents, Stuart and Sharon Upson of Frankfort, N.Y., and by her maternal grandparents, Danny and Jean Ryder of Jasper. Her maternal great-grandmother, Ruby Ryder, resides in Tate.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 23 following the morning worship service at Arran Lakes Baptist Church in Fayetteville, N.C. for anyone who wishes to pay their respects.

Ernest Mabry
Mr. Ernest Mabry, age 88 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Monday, May 10, 2004 at Mountainside Medical Center.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Melba Mabry, Ellijay; daughter, Linda McGhee, Jasper; brother-in-law, Tommy Fawbush, Tucker; sister-in-law, Tommie Spears, Marietta; grandchildren, Joe and Lisa Mabry, Lori Smith, Leslie and Hank Edge, Jill and Branson Chastain; great-grandchildren, Colton Samuel Crook, Chandler Smith, Trey Edge and Luke Mabry.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Jasper First Baptist Church with Dr. Charlie Boggan and the Rev. Charles O. Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens with Pickens Star Lodge #220 in charge of Masonic Graveside Rites. Nickie Pinyan
Nickie Pinyan, age 22 of Jasper, formerly of Canton, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at her residence.
Survivors include her parents, Stanley and Ruth Pinyan of Jasper; uncles and aunts, Herman and Atholine Wilkie of Ball Ground, Gene and Dot Wilkie of Dawsonville, Carolyn and Jack Collett of Canton, Mary and David Owen of Oakman and Mildred Pinyan of Woodstock. Several cousins also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 8 from Huey Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in Cherokee Memorial Park with the Revs. Gerral Richards and John Lummus officiating.
Bessie Watson
Mrs. Bessie Elrod Watson, age 72 of Epworth, Ga., passed away May 3, 2003 at her residence.
Survivors include her husband, Pete Watson of Epworth; daughter and son-in-law, Paula Hammac and Arthur Goller of Marietta; sister, Emy Lunsford of Fort Walton Beach, Fl. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Diana Heimler
Diana Loraine Heimler, age 63, formerly of South Bend, passed away on May 6, 2003 at Haven House Hospice in Atlanta.
She was born on Feb. 15, 1940 in South Bend to Arthur S. Wozniak Sr. and Irene M. (Bokory) Ballou, who preceded her in death.She retired in 1985 after 25 years of service as general manager in the restaurant industry. She was active in Weight Watchers and the Ladies Auxiliary of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church. Also deceased are a daughter, Nancy June Heimler; brother, Arthur S. Wozniak Jr.; step-sister, Mary Lou; and step-brother, Norman Ballou.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Gerald) Spavins of Ellijay; sons, Todd Heimler of Rochester, Mi., Scott (Deb) and Craig (Paula) Heimler, all of Canton; sister, Joanne (Jim) Byrn of Niles, Mi.; step-brother, Steven (Barbara) Ballou of Westland, Mi.; grandsons, Nicholas and Mickey Heimler, both of Canton, Ryan (Carissa) Rosenburg of Alberton, Justin (Sara) Rosenburg of San Angelo, Tx. and Steven (Erin) Heimler of Athens; and step-sister, Pattie (Robert) Huss.

Richard Jackson
Mr. Richard Jackson, age 63 of Talking Rock, passed away Wednesday morning, May 7, 2003 at Mountainside Medical Center in Jasper.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Jackson of Talking Rock; son, Mitchell Jackson of Canton; daughter, Jennifer Powers of the Hinton Community in Pickens County.
The funeral service was held Friday, May 9 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Clyde Boling and Johnny Padgett officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens with Luke Powers, Ricky and Steven Jackson, Darrin and Gary Bennett and Shane Chastain servingas pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Larry and Tony Bennett and Jackie Tinsley.
