Mr. Roy Sapp, 85,
entered into rest Sunday Oct. 17, 2004 at St. Mary’s Nursing Center, Leonardtown, Md.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday Oct. 21, at the DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Grady Hargrove officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Sapp was born in Burke County and spent most of his life in Jenkins County. He was a retired farmer and a Baptist. Mr. Sapp was preceded in death by his son, Roy E. Sapp in 2004. He is survived by a daughter, Runnette S. Smith of Millen; six sons, Richard D. Sapp of Keysville, Robert D. Sapp of Millen, Raymond W. Sapp of Mechanicsville, Md., Ruwis H. Sapp of Albany, Russell J. Sapp of Huntingtown, Md., and Randall V. Sapp of Pensacola, Fla. He is also survived by his brother Lester Sapp of Midville; 22 grandchildren; and 17 great- grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Shayne Sapp, Joey Sapp, Robert Sapp, Roy Sapp Sr., Andy Sapp, Scott Sapp, Jeff Sapp, Rodney Sapp and Roy Sapp Jr. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Leigh Ann Brett, 39,
of 7725 Middleground Rd., Louisville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004 at the Medical College of Georgia after a brief illness.Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at the Bethesda Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Stephen D. Posey officiating.
Mrs. Brett was born June 3, 1965 in Americus to Mr. Lee Murray and Gloria Gardner Jr. She was employed with the Washington County State Prison System as a counselor. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson Academy in 1983, where she participated in softball, basketball and track. She attended ABAC College in Tifton and received her bachelor of science degree from Georgia College in Milledgeville. She was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mrs. Brett is survived by her husband, Mr. Ray Brett of Louisville; a son and daughter, Ty and Anna Le Brett of Louisville; her father and mother, Murray and Gloria Gardner Jr. of Bartow; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Gardner of Plains; maternal grandmother, Vama Stanger of Caldwell, Idaho; a brother and sister-in-law, Lee Murray and Jeri Gardner III of Bartow; and eight nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers were members of the Thomas Jefferson Academy football team, Stephen Logue, J.W. Gordy, Steve Martin, Taylor Seeloff, David Jackson, Rob Holly and Christopher Mathis. Mrs. Alma McNeill Conner, 91,
entered into rest Oct. 9, 2004 at the Baptist Village Retirement Communities in Waycross. A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Sardis Cemetery in Folkston with the Rev. Bonnie Conner officiating. Mrs. Conner was a retired coordinator and social worker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Fernandina Beach, Fla. Mrs. Conner was preceded in death by her husband Troy Conner. She is survived by three daughters, Carol Jones of Blackshear, Sherri Moore of Sardis and Kay Barber of Manor; three sons, John S. Conner of Kingsland, Joe Conner of St. Augustine, Fla., and Preston Conner of Sardis; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three special friends, Ruby, Dora and Debra. Pallbearers were Jimmy Jones, Patrick Jones, Roger Jones, Stewart Conner, Steven Conner, Sean Conner and Shane Conner.

Mrs. Lottie Mae Burke Lambert, 82,
entered into rest Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004 at Brentwood Terrace Healthcare in Waynesboro.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at the Calvary Tabernacle with pastors Rodney McRae, James Clark and Herbert Legg officiating. Burial followed in the Millen Cemetery. Mrs. Lambert lay in state 1-2 p.m. prior to services.
A visitation was held 6-9 p.m. Monday Oct. 11, at the DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Lambert was born in Jenkins County and spent most of her life in Burke County. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Tabernacle UPCI Church.
She is survived by two sons, William Burke and his wife, Bobbie, and Charles Burke, all of Waynesboro; two granddaughters, Stephanie Murphy and her husband, Michael, and Wanda Hall and her husband, Lamar; and four great-grandchildren, Jessica Jennings, Taylor Hall, Raina Hall and Erin Hall. Mr. Charles Edward Dickey Sr., 72,
entered into rest Thursday Oct. 7, 2004 at University Hospital in Augusta.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. G. Al Wright officiating. Burial was in Burke Memorial Gardens.
Firefighters who served under the leadership of Chief Dickey were pallbearers, and firefighters of neighboring communities near Waynesboro served as Color Guard.
A native of Richmond County, Charles was born in 1932 to parents Otto B. Dickey and Pauline Godbee Dickey. His childhood was spent in Richmond County and his adult life in Burke County. He was a Baptist and a veteran of the U.S. Army whose service was spent in Korea. Charles retired in 1994 as a firefighter and fire chief of the City of Waynesboro. He was also employed by The Augusta Chronicle as a newspaper carrier for many years.
Charles was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. Survivors include a daughter, Lynn Dickey Dixon; a son, Charles Edward Dickey Jr. (Eddie) and his wife, Machelle, of Millen. He was preceded in death in May 2004, by his wife of 27 years, Elaine Wrenn Dickey. Other survivors include her son, Lonnie McNorrill (Diane) of Knoxville Tenn., and daughter Janice McNorrill Johnson of Waynesboro. The six beloved grandchildren are Paula Dickey Saxon, Elizabeth Dixon, Jessica Dickey, Alishia Dickey, Ben Dickey and Heather McNorrill. His surviving brother is Otto B. (Toby) Dickey of Collins. Charles will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle to several nieces and nephews. He had numerous friends and was known for his wit and sense of humor. Miss Diane Attaway, 43,
of Waynesboro entered into rest Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004 at Washington County Regional Medical Center in Sandersville. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 16, at noon at Thankful Baptist Church in Waynesboro with the Revs. Willie Jackson Jr. and Edward Blueford, pastor, officiating. Miss Attaway was a 1981 graduate of Waynesboro High School and a homemaker. She is survived by four sisters, Mary L. Bell and Mildred Brim of Waynesboro and Cerlotta Lee and Connie Lovett of Savannah, and four brothers, Eddie Attaway and Ronnie Attaway of Waynesboro and Marion Attaway and Leon Attaway of Charlotte, N.C. Mr. Marion Pharr DeLaigle, “Sonny Boy,” 63,
entered into rest Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 at his residence. Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Dixon officiating. Burial followed at Burke Memorial Gardens.
Mr. DeLaigle was a lifelong resident of Burke County. He retired from Perfection Schwank Manufacturing in Waynesboro and was a member of Bethany Methodist Church in Girard.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie Miles DeLaigle; two sons, Marion Pharr DeLaigle Jr. of Augusta and Rickey Randy DeLaigle of Alexander; and five sisters, Mary Annie Odom of Augusta, Kathleen Coker of North Augusta, S.C., Ruby LaMar of Augusta, Jackie Chance of McBean and Elaine Long of Girard. Pallbearers were Nicky DeLaigle, Darrell Long, Carroll Long, DeRossi DeLaigle Jr., Mike DeLaigle, Blaine LaMar and Glenn Moore.

Mike Robinson, 51,
of Sardis died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta after an extended illness. Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at Sardis United Methodist Church. Burial was in Sardis Cemetery.
Mr. Robinson, a life-long resident of Sardis, was a U.S. Navy veteran, farmer and a supervisor for Waste Hauling Management at Savannah River Site (SRS). He was also a member of Sardis United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Elliott Robinson; two daughters, Ginger Robinson-Oliver and Emily Robinson; a son, Elliott Robinson; his mother, Betty Parker Robinson; two sisters, Harriett R. Dixon and Brenda R. Roberts; and a grandson, Jackson Parker Oliver all of Sardis.
Active pallbearers were David Dickey, Amos Harris, W.J. Harris, Jimmy Thompson, Chester Skinner, David Worley, Roy Boykins and Al Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were SRS Waste Management employees.
Mr. A.J. Jones of Hephzibah,
beloved husband of Janice (Jan) Schaffer Jones, was called to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 24, 2004. A memorial service was held 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with the Rev. Frank Copeland officiating. Burial will be private.
A native of Orange County, Calif., Mr. Jones graduated from Forest Park High School in Forest Park, Ga., and went on to earn a degree in mechanics from Griffin Technical College and a degree in electrical and electronics from Augusta Tech. He was employed at Rich Pac, RBW Logistics Company for the last 11 years.
Mr. Jones was a member of Jonesboro Methodist Church in Forest Park and was also a member of St. Paul Methodist in McCormick, S.C. An avid motorcycle enthusiast for 35 years, he was a member of the American Motorcycle Association and a past member of the Master City Riders and the Thunderbird Boating Club of Plum Branch. A great fisherman and a wonderful cook, he loved to entertain and cook for his friends.
He was a guardian angel who helped everyone. He enjoyed his computers and especially took pride in his granddaughter, Danielle, and her brilliant mind. They enjoyed sharing their knowledge of so many things. A great husband, father, son and papa, he will be greatly missed. We will all be together in Heaven one day.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Shawn Danila Davis and her husband, Gerald; four grandchildren, Danielle, Michaela, Gerald Jr. and Geremiah; his father, Luther W. Jones and his wife, Kathy, of McDonough; a brother, Joe Jones and wife, June, of Waynesboro; and two nephews, Tom Jones of Waynesboro and George Jones of Grovetown. Mr. Lovett Lester Quick Sr., 64,

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, at Botsford Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Dixon officiating. Burial followed at Burke Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Quick was a truck driver for Jackie B. Lovett Trucking. He spent most of his life in Burke County. He was a member of Middlebrook Baptist Church in Oxford, Ala.
Mr. Quick was preceded in death by his son Lovett Lester Quick Jr. in 1992 and his sister, Mildred Beasley, and brother, Russell Quick, in 2004; and his parents, Patrick and Beulah Quick.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Sikes Quick of Waynesboro; two sons, Mark Quick (Sandra) and wife Sandra and Greg Quick and wife Kelly, all of Waynesboro; five sisters, Dorothy Moore of Midville, Frances Fuch of Charleston S.C., Grace Gilliam of Shreveport Lous., Judy Flakes of Waynesboro and Annie Roy Mead of Waynesboro; two brothers, Don Quick of Waynesboro and Danny Quick of Grovetown; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
