Jessie and Albert Boutin
Jessie A. (Johnson) Boutin, 80, was born August 31, 1924 in
Lewisburg, Mississippi, and died September 25, 2004. She is survived by two sisters:
Jackie Harwell and Dorothy Kem .Jessie graduated from Whitehaven MS High School, obtained a pilotıs
license (a rare thing then for a woman) and traveled to Seattle Wa. to help
the war effort and find adventure.
What she found was Albert and married him on September 24, 1947. She
continued to seek out adventure throughout her life by raising seven
children, working hard at whatever she did, traveling the country and flying
through the air in planes, balloons and a parachute.
She had class and style and in early September greatly enjoyed a visit
to Anchorage and a 7-day Alaskan cruise. But her frail body couldnıt keep up
with her strong spirit and her body gave out on a stop in San
Francisco, Ca. on her way back to the Georgia mountains.
Albert E. Boutin, 84, was born March 31, 1920, in La Crosse, Wi. and
died September 27, 2004. He is survived by three brothers, Ward, Dean and
Dallas, with one, Ronald, passing before him; and four sisters, Delores
Martinson, Verna Skaalerud, Mary Lou Packard and Cheryl Elfrink.
He graduated from Brooten High School and soon joined the Navy to serve
in the South Pacific during WWII.
After the war, he spent many years riding the rails working long hours
for the Great Northern RR. A train accident in 1969 ended his RR
career and he and Jessie bought and ran the Viking Motel in Willmar.
Jessie and Al spent their last few years in Jasper, Ga. where he spent
his time attending as many yard sales as possible looking for a good deal on
something he might need someday. He was active and strong and always
trying to make something useful out of something that wasnıt.
He also enjoyed the trip to Alaska with his wife, the Southern
Belle that he loved dearly. After she passed, it took two days for the
reality to set in and he died quickly of a broken heart.
Albert and Jessie had seven children, Tom, Claire, John, Robert, Rick,
Margaret and Gail. They loved their eight surviving grandchildren,
Cari, Neil, Ellie, Adam, Salena, Alison, Matt and James and one, Eric, that
passed before them.
They lived many years in Minnesota (Minneapolis and Willmar) as
well as Arkansas and Mississippi before retiring to Georgia.
They were cremated in California and had a beautiful service at Jessieıs
faithful church, Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Jasper.
As they requested to be sprinkled in the ocean and 'someplace
pretty,' their children will put them together off the coast of Key West at a
later date.
Of course they will be missed; however, we should all remember their
full and happy lives and that they went out in style with travel, fun and
many desserts.
