Mrs. Gail Janice Lord, 56, of Jonesboro, Ga., died January 27, 2002 at Southern Regional Medical Center.
She was born September 28, 1944 in Buford (Gwinnett County) Ga. to Kathleen Pope of Jonesboro and the late William Edmonds. She ws a housewife.
A funeral will be at Resurrection Baptist Church in Newnan Jan. 31 at 11 a.m. Pastor Dan Dahl will officiate, assisted by Don Edmonds. Burial will be in Sugar Hill Baptist Church cemetery at 3 p.m.

Mrs. Beatrice Sloman Lowry, 88, of Hogansville, Ga., died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002 at Hospice LaGrange.
A funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30 at Highland Baptist Church in Hogansville. Mr. Harold Todd and Mr. Ricky Todd will officiate, and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
Mrs. Lowry was born October 24, 1913 in Cedartown, daughter of the late Wiley and Liddie Weaver Sloman. She lived in Hogansville most of her life, was a member of Highland Baptist Church and retired from Uniroyal Inc. after 45 years of service. She was the wife of the late J. W. Lowry.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Cecil and Allene Lowry of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Charles and Geneta Lowry of Roswell; sister, Mrs. Pauline Mills of Columbus; brother, Brewer Sloman of Bristol, Rhode Island; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Rebecca Lance (Becky) Ware, 48, of Carrollton, Ga., died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, Ga. The Rev. Jimmy Rogers will officiate, and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday.
Born February 20, 1953 in Tyler, Texas, Mrs. Ware had lived in Carrollton since 1975 and was a registered nurse and an associate real estate broker. She was a former member of the Junior Women's Club of Carrollton, a past district president of the Junior Women's Clubs of Georgia, and was active in the Democratic Party. For a number of years, Mrs. Ware was active in the P.T.A., the Band Boosters Club, and the Athletic Boosters Club at Central High School in Carrollton. She was a member of the Baptist church and enjoyed flower gardening, needle crafts and cake decorating.
Surviving are her husband, Peter W. Ware of Carrollton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John Patrick and Kristina Ware of Athens, and James Robert Ware of Carrollton; daughter, Amy Elizabeth Ware, attending L.S.U. at Baton Rouge, La.; mother, Mrs. Ruth Rogers Lance of Stone Mountain; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Harper of Coral Springs., Fla. and Mrs. Linda Woods of Glenville; brother, John Lance Jr. of Cleveland; a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. John Mercer Lance.

Mr. William H. "Barney" Harrison, 76, of Hogansville, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.
Mr. Harrison was born Nov. 9, 1925, in Troup County to the late John Henry Harrison and the late Ella Mae Winslett Harrison. A lifelong resident of Troup County, he was a member of the Baptist Church and was retired from J.O. Barber Lumber Company in Luthersville. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kenny Herndon.
A funeral will be held Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Donald Phillips will officiate and burial will be in the Corinth Cemetery.

Mr. Everett L. Trekell, 55, of Hogansville, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Atlanta Medical Center.
Mr. Trekell was born Feb. 20, 1946, in Alva, Okla. He lived in Atlanta before making his home in Hogansville 15 years ago, and was a retired heavy equipment operator. He served in U.S. Army.
A funeral will be held Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Jimmy Black will officiate and burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens in LaGrange.

Mrs. Crain was born April 18, 1926 in Coweta County to the late Mr. and Mrs. L. T. (Carrie Lou) North. She had one brother, Rufus North, who also preceded her in death.
She was a caring, kind, friendly and patient person. She had a great sense of humor. She had no children of her own, but she loved her nieces, nephews and the children of her neighbors. She had a knack of assigning names to some of her friends and relatives. Edward Sr. became "Tato," Mary became "May, May" and Hayward became "Havana." She was full of love and laughter.

Mr. H. C. Hill, 72, of Newnan, died January 22, 2002.
He was born January 16, 1930 in Coweta County, son of the late Mr. Ben and Helen Hill. He was known by several names, H., H.C., Uncle H., Dad and Big Daddy. Whenever called upon, he was always there to answer. He received his early education in Moreland, Ga. He entered the U.S. army where he served for four years. After his tour of duty in the armed forces he attended the Veterans Night School.
He joined Mountn Prospect Church at a very early age, and served faithfully. He was employed by Alsobrook Lumber Company for several years and Pike Trucking Company, where he later retired.
He married Miss Flora belle Wilkes Hill, who preceded him in death. They had one child.
A funeral will be Jan. 26 at 3 p.m. at Mt. Prospect Baptist Church in Moreland with the Rev. McArthur Blount officiating, assisted by the Rev. J. C. Neal, Rev. A. Jarvis Childs, Minister LaVonia Lovette, Minister Inez Moreland.

Mrs. Nina Almon Harry, 91, of Franklin, Ga., died Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at Hospice LaGrange after a brief illness.
Mrs. Harry was born in Heard County, Ga. November 21, 1910 to the late Luke Almon and Emma Lee Stephens Alman. She was a loving wife and mother, and was adored by her children and grandchildren. Until the onset of her illness she was a faithful member of the Bethel Christian Church.
A funeral will be Friday, Jan. 25 at 3 p.m. at Bethel Christian Church with the Revs. Jack Sapp and Kenneth Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Carroll "Keith" Miller
Mr. Carroll K. "Keith" Miller, 71, of Newnan, Ga. and formerly of Newark, Ohio, died Wednesday, December 19, 2001 in St. Cloud, Florida following an extended illness.
Known as "Papa Smurf" by his many friends and co-workers, Mr. Miller was born in Rushville, Indiana in 1930. Upon completion of high school, he attended Marian College in Indianapolis, Indiana. Afterwards, he served a tour of duty in the U.S. Air Force, spending most of his time in England. Mr. Miller retired from Georgia-Pacific Resins, Peachtree City Plant, in 1994 after 38 years of service. His career with Georgia-Pacific began in 1956 at the R&D Center in Newark, Ohio, where he was later promoted to a Quality Control Supervisor and transferred to the Columbus, Ohio Resin Plant. In 1984 he was transferred to the plant in Peachtree City, Ga. During his career with Georgia-Pacific, Mr. Miller developed several products that are still in use by the company today. After retiring in 1994, he worked as a courtesy clerk for the Kroger store at Thomas Crossroads.
Among his many hobbies and talents was his carpentry and wood working ability. He loved to ride motorcycles and fly small planes. He refinished furniture, fished, hunted and played golf. He stayed very busy and always maintained his belief in justice and followed the "golden rule," love and kindness toward his fellow man. But most important, he revered, loved and walked humbly before God.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Mrs. Catherine Joann Miller of St. Cloud, Florida; father, Mr. Carroll Notrie Miller who will celebrate his 100th birthday in May 2002; three daughters, Mrs. Terry Miller Mills and husband Jeff of Newnan, Mrs. Nicole Miller Baker and Husband Ron of Pikesvile, Tenn., and Mrs. Stephanie Miller Munster and husband James of Hampton, Ga.; five brothers, David Miller, Samuel Miller, Philip Miller, Robert Mark Miller and Stephen Miller; six sisters, Martha Gwinnup, Marilyn Addison, Mary Leidig, Mariam Stanley, Marsha Melton and Marilee Brush; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Porter was born Sept. 2, 1907 in Heard County, Ga. to the late Ike Floyd Bell and Stella Gay Jackson Bell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Winslow Porter. For many years Mrs. Porter served the children of Heard and Troup County as an elementary school teacher. She will long be remembered for her great love and devotion to educating children. Until the onset of her long illness, Mrs. Porter was a faithful member of the Salem United Methodist Church.

She was born January 24, 1914 in Fayette County, Ga. to the late Riley O. Spradlin and Sara V. Dover Spradlin. She was a retired waitress and a loving and devoted member of Faith Baptist Church in Primrose, Ga. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Cash; and two sisters, Gladys Jones and Alma Cash.
Surviving are two daughters, Frances Spradlin of Luthersville and Virginia Newborn of Newnan; six grandchildren, Timothy Spradlin, Ann Barber and Chris Spradlin, all of Luthersville, Samantha Atkins Stone, Bill Atkins and Dan Lee, all of Newnan; 15 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Andrew Wade Cheaves, 93, died Saturday, January 19, 2002.
He was born March 31, 1908 in Heflin, Alabama to the late Rev. and Mrs. Ben Cheaves, one of five children. His siblings Oliver, Roberta, Vassie and Virgil all preceded him in death.
He married the late Bertha Moore and they had three children. Two children, Frank and Elenor, both preceded him in death. He was a member of Mt. During his illness his son Rufus and daughters-in-law Winnie and Sarah Jean cared for him at home until his admittance to Dogwood Rehabilitation Center in Fairburn, Ga.
A funeral will be Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002 at 1 p.m. at Mount Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Clinton Melson, pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. R. W. Sutton. Burial will be in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newnan. Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Hardy and Carly Hardy. Active pallbearers will be grandchildren. Mrs. Irma Louise Triggs
Mrs. Irma Louise Triggs, 84, died January 19, 2002 after a four-year battle with cancer.
She was born August 9, 1917 on a farm near Spring Valley, Minnesota, daughter of Fred and Sarah Erdman Schumacher.
She graduated from Spring Valley High School, and after a year of training taught for three years in one-room country schools in southern Minnesota. She married Ralph Triggs August 5, 1939 and moved to Madison, Wisconsin where she lived for the rest of her life. She was a member of St. James Catholic parish for more than 50 years and was a full-time homemaker.
She got her first camera when she was nine years old, and greatly enjoyed taking pictures of famiy and scenery all her life. She loved to take trips, eventually traveling to all 50 states of the Union and 38 foreign countries. Her favorite pastimes were playing cards and Scrabble with family and friends. She was a member of the local Scrabble club for 16 years. She loved roller coasters, riding her last one at age 83.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1999.

Mrs. Turner was born May 8, 1934 in Coweta County to the late Willis Quick and Irene Quick Womack. She was a retired group leader at NCR in Peachtree City and attended the Cathedral of Praise in Digby. She was preceded in death by her brother, Willis Quick, Jr.

A funeral for Mr. Jerry Wayne Smith, 35, of Bremen, Ga., was held January 16, 2002 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home in Franklin, Ga.
The Rev. Dr. Kenneth Rooks officiated, and the eulogy was by Ron Rooks who also provided special music. Marie Brock, sister of Mr. Smith, offered words on behalf of her brother.

He died January 12, 2002 in Fulton County as the result of an accident. He was a construction worker in the flooring industry. He was a loving father and brother. He was a Christian by faith and enjoyed attending the Rehoboth Christian Center in Tallapoosa, Ga.

Mr. Clarence Thornton "Chick" Johnson, 79, of Moreland, Ga., died January 16, 2002 at his home following an extended illness.
A native of Elberton, Ga., he was born February 16, 1922, son of the late Clarence L. and Marjorie Moorhead Johnson. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Johnson served in the United States Army. Che was retired from the city of East Point. He and his late wife, Johnnie Faye Johnson were members of the Alvaton Baptist Church in Alvaton, Ga.

Mr. James Ray Moore, 61, of Calhoun, Ga., died Wednesday, January 16, 2002 in Hamilton Medical Center following several years of declining health.
Mr. Moore was born in Coweta County, Ga. Feb. 7, 1940. He was son of Ellen Clemens Moore and the late Paul Moore. Also preceding him in death was a sister, Faye Richardson and a great aunt, Callie Boswell. Before ill health forced his retriement, he was employed by the Gordon County Board of Education as a grounds keeper at Gordon Central High School and a bus driver. Mr. Moore was a member of Oostanaula Baptist Church.

Mr. Malcolm W. Orr Jr., 90, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, died Wednesday, January 16, 2002, at Lifecare of Collegedale, in Collegedale, Tennessee.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at graveside in the Corinth Cemetery in Heard County. The Rev. Marion Shivers will officiate.
Mr. Orr was born October 13, 1911, son of the late Malcolm Walter Orr and the late Jennie Lou Ransom Orr, descendants of the pioneer Ware family of Troup and Heard counties. He was reared in Macon, was a graduate of Auburn University, and had lived in Chattanooga since 1937.
Mr. Orr was a mechanical engineer, having retired from Combustion Engineering after 40 years of service, and was a member of the Professional Engineering Club and the Power Squadron of Chattanooga. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Macon.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Jackson Orr of Chattanooga; niece and several cousins.
