Mrs. Dorothy M. Peterson, 70, of Newnan, Ga., died Tuesday, January 9, 2002 at her home on Providence Church Road.
She was born and raised in Huron, South Dakota. She and her husband, Robert, moved to Newnan in 1984. They attended the Newnan Presbyterian Church, volunteered at the Coweta Community Food Pantry, and she was a beloved wife and mother.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. at Newnan Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Peterson is survivied by her husband, Robert; sons, Steven of San Antonio, Texas, Russell of Cody, WY, Robert of Richmond, VA, and Douglas, Mark and Bradley of Newnan; daughters, Patty Kappel of Savage, MN, Susan Lockhart, Sarah Peterson and Laurie Peterson of Newnan; 26 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Emma Bohannon Smith
Mrs. Emma Bohannon Smith, 76, of Sunset Lane, Newnan, Ga., died Sunday, January 13, 2002 at Kindred Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.
Mrs. Smith was born in Coweta County Feb. 10, 1925 to the late Mr. and Mrs. McKinley (Lourena) Bohannon. She attended Oak Grove and Happy Valley School. At an early age she joined Oak Grove Baptist Church. Later in life she joined Mount Sinai Baptist Church where she served on the usher board and the mother board faithfully until her health failed. She married the late O. C. Smith of Madras, Ga. and they had seven children. Three children preceded her in death. She retired from West Point Pepperell.
A funeral will be Saturday, Jan. 19 at Mount Sinai Baptist Church, 6 Lovelace Street in Newnan with the Rev. J. W. Gibbons, pastor, eulogist Rev. H. H. Dyer, assisted by Evangelist Susie Hudson and Rev. Felton James. The cortege will assemble at the residence at noon.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the Deacon Board, Lee Beasley, Bobby Beasley, Johnny Beasley. Flower ladies will be the Mother Board, Mary Turner, Kolendra Jackson, Rebecca Redding.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, Jan. 18 from 5-7 p.m.

Mrs. Joyce Cammon Tolliver, 72, of Bulls Bay Hwy., Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Sargent, Ga., died Saturday, January 12, 2002.
She was born July 19, 1929 in Carroll County, Ga. to the late Joseph Cammon and Eula Thornton Cammon. She retired from the Sears Company in 1960. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Free Sr.; son, James Free Jr.; sister, Wilma McBride.
Surviving are her husband, Andrew Tolliver of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Judy and Melvin Hawkins; son, Jeff and Mary Free; brother, Paul Cammon; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be Friday, January 18, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Martin and Hightower Heritage Chapel.

Miss Marie Warner
Miss Marie Warner of Atlanta died January 11, 2002 at Integrated Health Services of Atlanta, Ga., following an illness.
Miss Warner was born the third child to the late Willie Walter "Son" and Rosa Ann Warner in Meriwether County. She attended public schools in Coweta County. She joined New Hope A.M.E. Church at an early age and served faithfully until she moved to Atlanta. She joined St. Paul A.M.E. Church under the pastorage of Rev. Porter and was a member of the Pastor Aid Board and Missionary Unit #4. She was committed and devoted to her church as long as her health permitted her to serve.
Miss Warner was employed for more than 50 years as a housekeeper and nurse for the Baron Family and Thompson Family. She retired in 1980.
A funeral will be Saturday, Jan. 19 at 1 p.m. at New Hope A.M.E. Church in Haralson. The Rev. Thomas Bess will deliver the eulogy, assisted by Rev. W. C. Ware, Rev. W. Heard and other ministers. Burial will be in old White Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 18 from 7-8 p.m. at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 1540 Pryor Road, S.W., Atlanta.

Surviving besides her parents are two sisters, Beth Beavers and Nancy Beavers of LaGrange; brother, Marsh Beavers of LaGrange; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Mrs. Willie Louisa Bonner, 71, of Wallace Gray Road, Newnan, died Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at Emory Peachtree Regional Hospital.
A funeral will be Thursday, Jan. 17 at 2 p.m. at Sellers-Smith R. W. S. Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Joseph C. Neal, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. G. B. Vaughn and Rev. J. T. Coleman. Burial will be in Smith Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 525 Welcome-Arnco Road in western Coweta County. Pallbearers will be nephews. Flower ladies will be nieces. Mrs. Bonner was born September 4, 1930 in Coweta County to the late Mr. and Mrs. Ed Newson. She joined Smith Chapel United Methodist Church and was a faithful member until her health failed. She served in many capacities at the church including president of the Santuary Choir. She married March 8, 1952 to Curtis Bonner.
Surviving are her husband, Curtis Bonner; daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Willie L. Hughes (Christine); grandson, Torrey Lavon Hughes; sisters, Mrs. Ezzie M. Reese, Mrs. Ona L. She was born October 5, 1919 in Trion, Ga. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fairbanks.

He attended the Coweta County Schools and graduated from the former Central High School May 1969, after which he served a tour of duty with the United States Air Force. He worked as a self-employed auto mechanic for the majority of his adult life. He joined the Bethel Heard Baptist Church at an early age and was ordained a church deacon September 2001.

Mrs. Modena Medley Riley, 92, of Hogansville, Ga., died Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at Franklin Healthcare Center.

Mrs. Riley was born April 27, 1909 in Walton County, daughter of the late Alonzo Miles Medley and the late Tommie Allgood Medley. She lived in Hogansville 65 years and was retired from Uniroyal Inc. after 28 years of service. She was a member of the Hogansville Church of God and was the wife of the late Benis L. Riley.
Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Joyce Riley of Hogansville; sister, Mrs. Opal Leatherwood of Hampton; six grandchildren, Mrs. Dale Chapman of Billings, Montana, Royce Riley III of Carrabelle, Fla., Steve Riley of Griffin, Mrs. Melody Pike of LaGrange, Mrs. Dena Stephens of Mountville, and Mrs. Cindy McGaughey of Russellville, Arkansas; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Margaret Gallagher Costales, 90, died from natural causes January 13, 2002 in Newnan, Ga.
Mrs. Costales was born July 23, 1908 in Airdrie, Scotland. She was one of ten brothers and sisters; she came to the United States in 1928 at the age of 20. Prior to retiring, she was an executive housekeeper in Miami Beach's finest hotels during World War II. She was the wife of the late Bernard Costales, a native of Spain and a Miami Realtor.
A memorial serice will be Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. at Carmichael-Hemperly Chapel in Peachtree City with Fr. Stephen Lyness officiating.

Born October 12, 1952 in Hogansville, Mr. Gaddy was a lifelong resident of Hogansville and attended Highland Baptist Church. He was employed by Charter Communications and previously served 22 years with the Hogansville Police Department. He was a member of the Hogansville Masonic Lodge and the Hogansville Golf Club, and was a former member of the Hogansville Optimist Club.
Surviving are his wife, Michelle Noles Gaddy; daughters, Samantha Pollard and Elizabeth Fincher; parents, Ralph and Sybil Gaddy, all of Hogansville; sister, Lois Spence of Ellijay; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was born October 4, 1914 in Coweta County, Ga. He was a retired self-employed farmer and member of White Oak Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Barber was born Februray 28, 1910 in Meriwether County, daughter of the late James and Estene Yarbrough Cook. At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of Bethel Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, and was the wife of the late Carl Barber.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Marion and Gerald Reeves of Sharpsburg and Peggy and James Tant of Riverdale; son and daughter-in-law, Cecil and Carlene Barber of Luthersville; sister, Mrs. Lillie Turner of Carrollton; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons.

Mr. Roosevelt Foster, 91, of Greenville, Ga., died Saturday, January 12, 2002.
A funeral will be Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 1 p.m. at the Rocky Mount Bethel Baptist Chruch in Luthersville, Ga., with the Rev. Dr. N. D. Leavell officiaitng, assisted by the Rev. W. N. Martin, Rev. Thomas Stanford. Burial will be in Greenville City Cemetery.

Mr. Foster was born Nov. 4, 1910 to the late Rev. Otis and Mattie Foster in Meriwether County, Ga. He was the oldest of 10 children. He joined the Rocky Mount Bethel Baptist Church at an early age. He was ordained a Deacon of the church.
He married the late Kate L. Foster and they had three children, two of whom preceded him in death, Katie Maude and Roosevelt Jr.
He subsequently transferred his membership to the Springfield Baptist Church where he served in many different capacities. He later became a member of the New Springfield Baptist Chruch where he served until his departure. He served in the U.S. Armed Forces Dec. 15, 1943 to Nov. 25, 1945. He was a member of the U.B. at A Lodge and was a Gold Card Masonic Member of Greenville Beauty Lodge.

Mr. C. M. "Bud" Jordan, 81, of Shoemake Road, Carrollton, Ga., died Sunday, January 13, 2002 following an extended illness. He was born October 12, 1920 in Carroll County to the late James Marion Jordan and Sally Watson Phillips Jordan. He was a retired employee of the Southwire Company and a member of Happy Hill Baptist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Fay Shoemake Jordan; two brothers, William "Bill" Jordan and Carl Jordan; as well as a sister, Selto Newborn.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and Ray Cramer and Debra Walker, all of Carrollton; son and daughter-in-law, Samual L. and Shirley Jordan of Danielsville, Ga.; sister, Florence Folds of Newnan; two brothers, Harold Jordan and Dalton Jordan, both of Newnan; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Martin and Hightower Heritage Chapel with Minister J. C. Cook, Rev. Clay Pawley and Rev. Donald Lee officiating. Music will be rendered by the Happy Hill Baptist Church Choir.
Pallbearers will be Aubrey Cook, C. A. Cook, Doyle Jordan, James Jordan, Larry Jackson, Jerry Shoemake, Randy Jordan, Bobby Anderson and Sam Jordan. Mr. Earnest Driver will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Burial will be in Happy Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Loretta Jacobs Estep, 71, of 156 Pine Knoll Drive, Carrollton, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002 at Tanner Medical Center.
She was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on July 27, 1930. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Phontanus Jacobs and Minnie Lou Jacobs, her husband, W.D. Estep, and a daughter, Mary Riner.
She is survived by three daughters and son-in-laws, Shirley and Ronnie Cannon of Hogansville, Ann and Gerald Weaver and Connie and Bill Brock of Carrollton; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Eugene and Gail Altman of Manchester, and J.D. Estep of Canton, Ga.; three sisters, Reatha Samples of Carrollton, Minnie Lou Beach of Quincy, Fla., and Vernell Stubbs of Douglasville; one brother, P.J. Jacobs of Newnan; 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Jan. 14, 2002 at 11 a.m. from Martin & Hightower Hillcrest Chapel in Newnan, with Brother Tommy McLeroy officiating.
Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 11 a.m. today.

Mrs. Patra Daniel Massey, 83, of the Lone Oak Community of Meriwether County, died Friday, January 11, 2002 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13 at Union Baptist Church in the St. Marks Community of Meriwether County. The Rev. Bill Smith will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Saturday.
Mrs. Massey was born January 16, 1918 in Meriwether County, daughter of the late Starks Ellis Daniel and the late Nell Denney Daniel. She was a lifelong resident of Meriwether County and was a member of Union Baptist Church. She retired from Uniroyal Inc. and had been active in the Grantville Senior Center.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Larry Freeman of LaGrange; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Massey of Lone Oak, Mrs. Eva Cribb of Dallas, and Mrs. Myra Nell Wofford of Covington; two brothers, J. Mr. Sidney M. Neely Sr., 64, of High Falls, Ga., died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001.
Born April 4, 1937, Mr. Neely was formerly a resident of Sharpsburg and was a grading contractor.
A funeral was held Monday, Dec. 17, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel, with Reverend Paul Dennis officiating. Burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Miss Brenda Joyce Bridges, 37, of Johnson Road, Senoia, Ga., died January 8, 2002 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
A funeral will be Saturday, January 12, 2002 at 1 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church in Alvaton, Ga. Rev. S. T. Curtis, pastor, will officiate, assisted by Evangelist Lena Hill and Minister Steve Dennis. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Brenda Joyce Bridges, affectionately known as "Dimple," was born November 6, 1964 to Mr. Calvin Bridges and the late Grace Keith Bridges in Coweta County. She joined the Shiloh Baptist Church at an early age.
She attended school in the Coweta County School System and received her high school diploma with the Class of 1982. Later she furthered her education at Columbus College. One sister preceded her in death, Mary Bridges.

Mrs. Pat Eason Hogan, 53, of Hogansville, Ga., died Wednesday, January 9, 2002 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.

Mrs. Hogan was born April 18, 1948 in Troup County, daughter of the late James and Jeanette Wallace Eason. She ws a lifelong resident of Hogansville and was a member and Sunday School teacher of the First Assembly of God in Hogansville. She retired from West Georgia Medical Center after 18 years of service and was selected employee of the year in 1972. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Sue Yates.
Surviving are her husband, Jerry G. Hogan of Hogansville; brother and sister-in-law, James R. and Marilyn Eason of Suwanee; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ford and Eva Hogan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Earl and Sara Hogan and Linder and June Hogan, all of Hogansville; nieces, Amber Gilpatrick, Michelle Nelson, Kaye Morris and Gayla Hogan; nephew, Michael Hogan; several aunts and uncles.

Mrs. Dorothy M. Peterson, 70, of Newnan, Ga., died Tuesday, January 9, 2002 at her home on Providence Church Road.
She was born and raised in Huron, South Dakota. She and her husband, Robert, moved to Newnan in 1984. They attended the Newnan Presbyterian Church, volunteered at the Coweta Community Food Pantry, and she was a beloved wife and mother.

State Senator Render Hill
Longtime State Senator James Render Hill, 78, of Greenville died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.
Sen. Hill was born March 16, 1923 in Meriwether County, son of the late Obadiah Warner Hill and Mary Render Hill.
He graduated from Greenville High School in 1940 and from the University of Georgia, where he served as vice president and president of Chi Phi Social Fraternity, in 1944. He served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1959-64 and in the Georgia Senate from 1965-84.
Sen. Hill was a Kiwanian and a deacon of Greenville Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Estes Hill, and his son, James Render Hill Jr.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Greenville Baptist Church with the Rev. Jonathan Porter and Dr. Gill Watson officiating. Interment followed at Greenville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Reid Elam, Rudolph Jones, Rudy Jones, Ed Rand, Connor Rand and Charles Hudson Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Green Hill of Greenville; sister, Mary Ellen Hill of LaGrange; brother, William Pinson Hill of Greenville; grandson, Jack Pinson Hill of Athens; stepchildren, Holly Rand, Anne Jones, James Dickey, William Dickey, all of Atlanta; and 13 step-grandchildren.

Mrs. Parker was born in Senoia, Ga. January 15, 1935 to the late Warner Hannah and the late Viola Landers Hannah. She was retired from Spalding Knitting Mill with 35 years of service. Mrs. Parker was of the Baptist faith.
