Mr. Edgar J. Clark, 89, of Hogansville, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at the home of his son in Pembroke, Ga.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. today in the Chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Brandon Brooks will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
Pallbearers will be H.C. Brock, Norman Smith, Charles Prather, Ralph Gaddy, W.E. Carter and Chris Boyd.
Mr. Clark was born Feb. 28, 1912 in Shawmutt, Ala., son of the late James and Sallie Whitley Clark. He had lived in Hogansville since 1959 and retired as a supervisor from Uniroyal, Inc. after working more than 50 years in the textile industry. He was a member and deacon of Highland Baptist Church and was a former member of the Hogansville Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include one son and daughter in-law, B.J. and Marsha Clark of Pembroke; one daughter, Linda Clark of Hogansville; three grandchildren, Michael Clark of Savannah, Bobby Conway of LaGrange and Paula Jo and Steve Rogerson of Pembroke; one great-grandson, Mark Aaron Rogerson of Pembroke; one brother, the Reverend O.C. Clark of Baker, La.; and one sister, Faye Earle of Wedowee, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Wood Clark; his beloved wife, Geneva Gill Clark; one granddaughter, Amy Conway; three sisters, Viola Hurley, Lola Mae Raines and Gladys Reel; and two brothers, Lindsey Clark and William T. Clark.

Mr. Donald Horton of Lake Ridge Way died Sunday, February 3, 2002 at Newnan Hospital.
Mr. Horton, originally from Coffee County, Ga., was a commercial and residential builder in Coweta County for more than ten years.
Mr. Horton was born August 5, 1939 in Nichols, Ga. He was preceded in death by a brother, James A. Horton of Douglasville.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Horton of Newnan; his parents, Mrs. Sarah Johnson of Douglas, Ga. and Mr. Arthur Horton of Nichols, Ga.; a brother, David Horton of Douglas, Ga.; and a sister, Sherrill Holt of Hixson, Tennessee.

Mrs. Betty Hay Jeter, 73, of Hogansville, Ga., died Thursday, February 7, 2002 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. James Calhoun and the Rev. Charles Chapman will officiate, and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 Saturday night.
Mrs. Jeter was born April 22, 1928 in Troup county, daughter of the late Carl and Ira Gamble Hay. She was a lifelong resident of Hogansville and owned and operated Village Inn Beauty Shop in Hogansville for more than 40 years. She was a member of Trinity Worship Center in Hogansville.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Vandy Vandiver of Hogansville; son and daughter-in-law, Van and Traci Jeter of Hogansville; sister, Mrs. Marie Robinson, also of Hogansville; brother, J. C. Hay of Tallahassee, Florida; six grandchildren, Scott Jeter of LaGrange, Stacy Jeter of Goshen, Indiana, Holly Vandiver and Heather Vandiver, both of Hogansville, Matthew Jeter and Bailey Jeter, both of Ocala, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Jeter, and a son, Eddie Jeter.

Mr. Howard Aldredge Morgan, 63, of Sharpsburg, Ga., died Wednesday, February 6, 2002 at Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Mr. Morgan was born March 3, 1938 in Acworth, Ga. He was a mechanic and a wrecker driver and was a United States Army veteran.

Mrs. Partain was born October 6, 1920 in Newnan, Ga., daughter of the late Luther O. Pitts and Vassie Phillips Pitts. She had lived in Columbus since 1970 and was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church. Mrs. Partain was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur R. Partain.

Mr. Elbert A. Rucker, 82, of Alpharetta, Ga., died February 8, 2002.
Mr. Rucker was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps 57th Bomb Wing, 445th Squadron, in Sicily, North Africa, Corsica and Italy. He was retired from the Fulton County Marshall's office and was a member of Crabapple First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Browning was born July 28, 1943 in Hogansville, daughter of the late Jack and Nadine Thrower Crumbley. A resident of LaGrange for the past 33 years, she was a member of Miriam Chapter 32 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member, Sunday school teacher, and member of the choir of Concord Baptist Church in LaGrange.
Surviving are her husband, Charlie L. Browning of LaGrange; daughter and son-in-law, Charrine and Stanley Kirk of Franklin; son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Tammy Browning of LaGrange; sisters, Mrs. Yvonne Hay of Hogansville, Mrs. Joyce Shaw of Clanton, Alabama, Mrs. Paulette Brooks of LaGrange, and Mrs. Pamela Cumbie of Stockbridge; five grandchildren.

Mr. Thomas Eugene Nelms, 58, of Wedowee, Alabama, died Monday, February 5, 2002 at the Wedowee Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Nelms was born in Heard County, Ga. on Feb. 22, 1943 to the late James Jetson Nelms and Mildred Grace Toney. He was also preceded in death by his former wife Weta Pike Nelms.
Mr. Nelms was a retired plant manager for the Easco Aluminum Company in Burlington, N.C. He was an active member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Wedowee, Alabama and the Wedowee County Antique Auto Club.
A funeral will be Friday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Franklin, Ga. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Crews was born June 23, 1930 in Carroll County, son of the late Pern and Fannie Ruth Boswell Crews. He retired as a Technical Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service and was a veteran of the Korean War. He had lived at Sharpsburg since 1974 and was a member of the American Legion, the Air Force Sergeant's Association, and the Retired Enlisted Association.

Mrs. Virginia Johnson Harris, 83, of Reese Road, Turin, Ga., died Monday, February 4, 2002 at Newnan Hospital.
Mrs. Harris was born July 4, 1918 in Turin, Ga. She was a retired educator in the Coweta County School System.
She was the only child of the late John Dawson Johnson Jr. and Annie Maude Johnson Johnson of Turin. Her husband, the late Curtis B. Harris, preceded her in death December 12, 1985. She was a graduate of Newnan High School and a 1939 graduate of Shorter College in Rome, Ga. She had been a member of Turin Baptist Church since 1930 where she served as a Sunday School teacher and assistant Sunday School pianist. She retired from the Coweta County School System in 1975.
The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan Wednesday, Feb. 6 from 5-7 p.m.

Mr. William Alvin Hall
Mr. William Alvin Hall, 80, of Flat Creek Road, Oakwood, Ga., died January 23, 2002 at North East Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Hall was born to Mr. Alvin and Mrs. Dora Hall of Coweta County. He was retired from Doyle Electrical Company. He was a member of Coweta Masonic Lodge #60 and a member of Pine Crest Baptist Church.
Mr. Hall's work carried him to many different places. He was instrumental in the building of the Warm Springs Hospital where he and his family lived for several years. This inspired his interest in the handicapped and especially children. Later he and his family moved to Macon, where he was involved and supportive to the "children's home" there. He and his family were supportive of the church where they lived and of this "children's hospital" at the time of his death. His work also took him to Rome, Ga. With four daughters, one in band and one in basketball, he and Mrs. Hall were active in all school events and were elected as "Band Parents" and "Counselors" to home town events, out-of-town events and out of state. He attended P.T.A. and other school events and was a "community promoter."
Transferred to Gainesville, he continued community service sponsored through his church with Mrs. Hall until they were both disabled.
A funeral was Jan. 25 at Hillside Funeral Home in Gainesville, Ga., and burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Mary L. Hall of Oakwood; daughters, June Quattlebaum of Oakwood, Nelia Turner of Gastonia, N. C., Pam Davis of Oakwood, Cindy Wood of Jefferson; sisters, Maggie Hartley and Frances Morrell, both of Newnan; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Annie Pearl Laurent, 74, of Hull Street, Newnan, died Thursday, Jan. 31 at Emory Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan.
She was born January 21, 1928 to the late John Hanners and Sarah Jane Long. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Wayne Laurent.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph A. Laurent of Newnan; three sons and daughters-in-law, James Anthony and Sybil Laurent and William A. and Alice Laurent, all of Newnan, and Thomas Eugene and Erlene Laurent of Douglasville; daughter and son-in-law, Theresa Ann and Jeff Ivey of Newnan; brother, Woodrow McVey of Lineville, Ala.; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Brenda Wilder Watts, 41, of Grantville, died Monday, February 4, 2002 at Portsbridge Hospice in Riverdale, Ga.
A funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6 at the Lighthouse Tabernacle of Jesus Christ in Hogansville. The Rev. Robert Longshore and the Rev. David Simmons will officiate, and burial will be in the Grantville Cemetery.
Born June 8, 1960 in Atlanta, Mrs. Watts had lived in Grantville for the past 18 years. She was a member of the Lighthouse Tabernacle of Jesus Christ in Hogansville and was employed by Yamaha of Newnan.
Surviving are two daughters, Brandi Mitchell and Beverly Watts, both of Grantville; mother, Shirley Wilder of Eatonton; three brothers, Lloyd Wilder of Grantville, Dennis Wilder of Forest Park, and Scott Wilder of Newnan; two sisters, Debra Walton of Forest Park and Tina Brickey of Ligonier, Indiana; two grandchildren, Kala Walton and Allison Mitchell, both of Grantville.

Mrs. Caroline Brandenburg Bilton of Albany died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002 at her home.
Mrs. Bilton was a native of Senoia, and was a member of the Senoia United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Betty Thompson Cleveland of Apoka, Fla., died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, in Florida.
Mrs. Cleveland was born in Birmingham, Ala., to the late Col. Dewitt Thompson and the late Edna Thompson. She was a Presbyterian by faith.
A grave-side service will be held Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at 10 a.m. in the Senoia City Cemetery.

Mrs. Carolyn Rebecca Harris, 65, of Fourth Street in Newnan, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
Born Dec. 4, 1935, Mrs. Harris was a machine operator for Duracell in LaGrange.
Funeral services will be graveside at 3 p.m. today at Elim Baptist Church, with Reverend Jerome Hicks officiating. Visitation was Saturday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Alan Dean, Dennis Dean, Steve Hardegree, Clifton Stephens and Donnie White.
Survivors include her father, Robert D. Stephens of Newnan; two daughters, Ruth Doyal of Tyrone and Teresa Hudgins Madden of LaGrange; two sons, Jack Harris and Bill Jones of Atlanta; five sisters, Floye Parker, Dot Hancock, Janice Stephens, Linda Akers and Connie Mobley, all of Newnan; two brothers, Bobby Stephens of Newnan and Levi Stephens of Cleveland, Tn.; and one grandchild, Jamie Hudgins.
Preceding Mrs. Harris in death are her mother, Lois Stephens, and a child, Ricky.
Mr. Frank Steve Lipford
Mr. Frank Steve Lipford, 79, of Franklin, Ga. died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center after several months of declining health.
Mr. Lipford was born on June 9, 1922, in Heard County to the late Thomas Hendon Lipford and Cammie Lelia Stephens Lipford. After graduating from Heard County High School, he attended Emory University until he was called to serve during World War II, where he was a member of the United States Army Air Corp. stationed in Europe.
After the war, he returned to Heard County where he, along with his father and brother, owned and operated the Lipford Merchantile. "Mr. Steve" was well known for his contributions to the people of Heard County as its one man commissioner for 12 years.
In addition to his activities in Heard County, he was on the Coweta Fayette EMC Board of Directors and the Chatt Flint Board of Directors. He was a member of the Heard County Lions Club and an active member of the First Baptist Church in Franklin.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Franklin, with Reverend Talmadge Chandler and Reverend Carlton Rivers officiating. Interment will follow in the Franklin City Cemetery. The family received guest Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Survivors include one daughter, Ginger Hartline; two granddaughters, Emily Helton and Erica Hartline; one grandson, Steve "Speedy" Hartline, all of Petersburg, Tenn.; one brother, Thomas Lipford of Franklin; a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecil Milians Lipford, and a sister, Camille Staples.

Mrs. Bolton died January 29, 2002.

Miss Louise L. Prickett, 81, of the Lone Oak Community of Meriwether County, died Thursday, January 31, 2002 at Alvista Care Home in Greenville.
A funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Rance Sprayberry will officiate, and burial will be in Allen-Lee Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lone Oak.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. Sunday and from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Miss Prickett was born November 13, 1920 in Lone Oak, daughter of the late Sanford Fling Prickett and the late Grace Lee Prickett. She was a 1937 graduate of Hogansville High School, a 1941 graduate of the University of Georgia, and served in the Women's Army Corps during World War Two. She retired as a home service advisor from Troup Electric Membership Cooperative after 36 years of service and was a member of Allen-Lee Memorial United Methodist Church in Lone Oak.
Surviving are niece, Sandy Wood of Aurora, Colorado; a nephew, Eddie Prickett of Alabaster, Alabama; great-nieces and great-nephews, Sara Grace Wood and Grant Sanford Wood, both of Aurora, Charles Edward Prickett of Hoover, Ala., and Christy Prickett Jackson of Alabaster, Alabama; three great-great-nephews.

Mr. Thomas Teagle (Tigle), 62, of Newnan died January 29, 2002.
Mr. Teagle was born April 14, 1939 in Newnan. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Teagle.
He attended school in Coweta County and was a graduate with the Central High School Class of 1959. He retired from the U.S. Army with twenty-three years of service to his country.
A funeral will be Sturday, Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 87 Pinson Street in Newnan. Remains will be placed in state at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery. The Rev. W. J. Mrs. Jewel Couch Bell, 74, of Corinth Road, Newnan, died Wednesday, January 30, 2002 at her residence.
She was born December 25, 1927 in Coweta County to the late Roy Couch and Bertha Chappel Couch. She retired from the Bonnell Company and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Coweta County. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Bell.
Surviving are one sister, Betty Turner of Haralson, Ga.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Aubrey and Louise Couch of Luthersville and Jerry Couch of Newnan.

Mrs. Valena Collier Herndon, 82, of Hogansville, Ga., died Wednesday, January 30, 2002 at Hospice LaGrange.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 1 at Antioch Baptist Church in Hogansville. The Rev. Wesley Boatman and the Rev. R. C. Prescott will officiate and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

Mrs. Herndon was born July 18, 1919, in LaGrange, daughter of the late Lee and Ethel Baker Collier. A resident of Hogansville for the past 48 years. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Hogansville, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Hogansville Senior Center. She retired from the Dunson Division of West Point Pepperell Manufacturing Company.
Surviving are five daughters and sons-in-law, Delores Gaddy and Linda Carl Galloway, all of Hogansville, Gracie and Joseph Moore of Grantville, Janice Wilson and Gail and Terry Searels, all of Hogansville; four sons and daughters-in-law, William and Wylene Herndon of LaGrange, Larry and Dorothy Herndon, Richard and Frances Herndon, and James and Kim Herndon, all of Hogansville; two sisters, Carolyn Denney and Bessie Wiggins, both of LaGrange; 24 children; 38 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Williams; grandchildren, Kenny Herndon and Sandra Swanson; and a great-grandson, Joseph Lee Breazeal.
