Mrs. Lena Hall Story, 87, of Arnco-Welcome Road, died Saturday, March 16, 2002, at Starcrest of Newnan.

Born Aug. 29, 1914, Mrs. Story was a retired textile worker and a member of Royal Baptist Church.

Funeral services were Monday, March 18, at 11 a.m., with Paul Dennis officiating. Burial was at Goshen Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Charles Combs, Millard Floyd, Tom Hill, Coleman Lassetter, Steve Millians, Hubert Smith, Joey Veal and Nicky Veal.

Survivors include one sister, Geraldine Smith and her husband Clifford of Newnan; and one sister in-law, Marjorie Hall.

Preceding Mrs. Story in deather were her parents, George Washington and Katie Lee Phillips Hall, and her husband, Hugh Dorsey Story.

Mrs. Cora Lee Connally
Mrs. Cora Lee Connally, 86, of Newnan, died March 16, 2002 at her residence.

A funeral will be held Thursday, March 21 at 2 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, 4374 Alvaton Road, Alvaton, Ga. The Rev. S. T. Curtis, Pastor, and the Rev. W.J. Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the churchyard cemetery.

Mrs. Connally was born May 7, 1915 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie Nelson (Alice Warner) Keith in Merriwether County. She was one of 11 children, the others all preceded her in death. She joined Shiloh Baptist Church at a very early age and attended school there. She served as a devoted member until her health failed.

On Dec. 28, 1930 she married the late Mr. Olin Connally Sr.

Surviving are Mr. and Mrs. Olin (Elmira) Connally, Mr. and Mrs. Rossie (Estella) Connally, Elder and Mrs. Curtis (Mary) Connally and Mr. Marvin Connally, all of Newnan, Mr. and Mrs. Levi (Rebecca) Connally of Washington, D. C., and Mr. and Mrs. Lesley (Chong) Connally of Huntsville, Ala; four daughters and one son-in-law, Ms. Lerlene Stinson of Atlanta, Ms. Bobbie Jean Dixson of Landover, Md., Mr. and Mrs. Bradford (JoAnn) Hill, and Ms. Ellen Powell and close friend Mr. Carlton Petty of Newnan; 38 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; in-laws, Mr. Ben Lee Robinson of Gay, Ga., Mrs. Nettie B. Keith, Mrs. Lolla Connally of Atlanta, Mr. and Mrs. James Connally and Mrs. Lucille Connally of Dayton, Ohio and a host of other relatives and friends.

A wake service will be Wednesday from 6-7 p.m. at All Souls Church of God in Christ/Andrews Mortuary.

Family and friends are asked to assemble at the residence, 16 Mitchell St., Newnan at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

Mr. Paul Davis Lee
Mr. Paul Davis Lee of Forest Park died March 18, 2002 at his residence.

He was a supervisor for the Georgia Department of Labor.

A funeral will be held at graveside Wednesday, March 20 at LaFayette City Cemetery at 1 p.m.

The family was receiving friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Surviving are sisters, Jodie Sheppard of Newnan and Anita Hannah of Rex, Ga.; nieces and nephews, Jay, John, Matt Sheppard and Samantha Hannah; long-time companion, Harvey Schaechtel.

Mrs. Mary King Durrough, 83, of Newnan, died Saturday, March 16, 2002 at Southland Nursing Home.

Mrs. Durrough was born in Carroll County, Ga. October 8, 1918. She was a retired textile worker and a member of Sargent Baptist Church. Mrs. Durrough was preceded in death by her parents, James David and Eula Ragland King and her husband Linnie Albert Durrough.

The family was receiving friends Monday, March 18 from 7-9 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home.

A funeral will be at Sargent Baptist Church Tuesday, March 19 at 2 p.m. The Rev. Floyd Durrough will officiate. Burial will be in Corinth Baptist Church cemetery.

Surviving are daughter, Kimberly D. Peacock of Newnan; brothers, Robert King of Newnan, and John King, Sharpsburg; sisters, Annie Ruth Williams of Carrollton and Doris Mosley of Forest Park; grandchildren, Dalene Costley and Kendrick Williams.

Mr. Gregory Henderson
Mr. Gregory "Iggy Nutt" Henderson, 39, died suddenly March 15, 2002 at Newnan Hospital.

Mr. Henderson was born March 14, 1963 in Coweta County to the late Mrs. Dorothy Louise Pullins Henderson and Mr. Joe Pete (J.P.) Henderson. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Arlee Henderson and Quintus Keith Hill. He was employed at Yamaha Corporation of Newnan until his health failed. He had a passion for motorcycles and hobby cars, and he was an extremely humorous individual.

A funeral will be Tuesday, March 19 at 2:30 p.m. at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Moreland with Rev. Roger Hill officiating, assisted by Rev. Hamp Long. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be United Brotherhood Investment Club. Flower Ladies will be classmates and friends of the family.

The family was receiving friends at the funeral home Monday from 7-9 p.m. The family may be contacted at the home of his sister, Mr. and Mrs. Larry (Wilma) Ballard at 371 Beld Road in Newnan. On the day of the funeral the cortege will assemble at the Ballards' home at 1 p.m.

Mrs. Sara Frances Smith King, 83, of Macedonia Trail, Newnan, Ga., died Sunday, March 17, 2002 at her residence.

A funeral will be Wednesday, March 20 at 1 p.m. at Smith Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. J. C. Neal, pastor, officiating, assisted by other ministers. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandson and cousins, honorary pallbearers the United Methodist Men. Flower ladies will be nieces and cousins, honorary flower ladies the United Methodist Women.

Mrs. King was born Feb. 27, 1919 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Wade Smith Sr. Later in life she married the late Mr. Charlie Albert King Sr. and they had seven children. Three children preceded her in death, Charlie Albert King Jr., John Lee Smith and Charly May King.

Mrs. King joined the Smith Chapel United Methodist Church at an early age. She served diligently until her health failed. Some of her most enjoyable time in the church was singing in the choir, and serving on the mother board for numerous years. She was employed by the Bibb Manufacturing Company until her retirement. During her life she enjoyed gardening, fishing, sewing and sitting in her favorite chair and singing her comforting hymns.

Surviving are children, Mrs. Fannie Mae James of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Lugenia Trammell of Dorchester, Mass., Mr. and Mrs. Clifford (Rudean) King, Mrs. Margerite Reid, Ms. Julia King, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin (Maggie) Domineck; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. May Bell Bonner, Mrs. Marsella Grier, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Lee Allen (Brennie), Mrs. Flora Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Hattie McCrary of 88 West Washington St., Newnan, died Monday, March 18, 2002 at Newnan Hospital. She was the mother of Coweta County Commissioner Robert Lee Wood.

A funeral for Mr. Darrell Barnett Nelms, 53, of Franklin, Ga., was held Friday, March 15, 2002 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Carlton Rivers officiating. Music was provided by Leesa Stutts Cothran.

Pallbearers were Durrell Marshall, Pat Lipham, Jet Nelms, Bobby Nelms, Delton Nelms and Coy Hornesby. Burial was in the Mount Pleasant Church cemetery.

Mr. Nelms was born Feb. 10, 1949, in Troup County to Lula Mae Popham Nelms and the late Harold Nelms. He died at his home March 13, 2002. He was a much loved son and brother.

Surviving are his mother, Lula Mae Nelms of Franklin, Ga.; sister, Luegene Burson of LaGrange, Ga.; brother, Lamar Nelms of Newnan; a number of aunts and uncles.

Master Tramarkus Cortez Snelling, 4, died Friday, March 15, 2002 at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. of smoke inhalation from the fire in his home in Eastgate Apartments in Newnan.

A funeral will be Wednesday, March 20 at noon at Emmanuel Outreach Ministries, 37 Freeman Street in Newnan with the Rev. Billy B. Avery, pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. Felton James. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery. Pallbearers and flower girls will be family members.

Tramarkus Cortez "Tank" Snelling was born Sept. 17, 1997 to Amanda Snelling and Tremayne Robinson.

Mr. Wyatt Cornell Williams Sr.
Mr. Wyatt Cornell Williams Sr., 83, of Wallace Gray Circle, died Thursday, March 14, 2002 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.

Mr. Williams was born October 11, 1918 to the late Amanda Gould and Wyatt Williams in Carroll County. He joined Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bowdon Junction at an early age.

He served in World War II in the Army. He married Leila Mae Rosser May 19, 1945 and they had two sons, Wyatt Cornell William Jr. and Clifton Williams. Wyatt learned his plumbing trade from Mr. John Munro, he was a master plumber for many years until his health failed.

A funeral will be Wednesday, March 20 at 2 p.m. at Sellers-Smith R. W. S. Memorial Chapel with the Rev. McCallister Hollins officiating, assisted by the Rev. J. W. Gibbons. Evangelist Susie Hudson, Evangelist Pearl Moreland, Rev. R. W. Sutton, and Rev. Richard Steverson. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews, flower ladies will be nieces.

Mr. Henry Thurston Bell
Henry Thurston Bell, 77, of Newnan, died at the U.S. Veterans Hospital in Decatur Friday.

He was born in Fort Payne, Ala., to W.H. and Dera Bell in 1924. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to Rome, Ga., where he grew up and attended schools.

After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Navy serving in World War II. His first assignment was aboard a destroyer bound for the Pacific, but he was reassigned as an ROTC cadet to submarine sonar school at the University of South Carolina.

While at the university, he met his future wife, Mary D. Coleman. After the military, they moved to Rome where he became a self-employed master watchmaker and repairman.

He moved to Orlando, Fla., in 1968 and continued his trade. In 2000, he moved to Newnan to be near his daughters. An avid golfer and tennis player, his first priority in life was his family. He will be remembered and respected as a loyal and loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Mary Coleman Bell and a grandson, Drew Collins.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna Bradshaw and husband George, and Lisa Zamborsky and husband Joe, all of Newnan; a brother, Gene Bell of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Aileen Elliott of Monticello, Fla.; three grandchildren, Dave Collins and wife Melissa of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Aaron Allred of Atlanta, and Anna Zamborsky of Newnan; one great-grandchild; nieces; nephews and friends.

Ms. Samantha Walden
Samantha Walden, 37, of Smyrna, Ga., died March 12 at Atlanta Medical Center.

The funeral was Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church in Powder Springs with the Rev. Steed and pastor Bishop Redding officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Ms. Walden was born Jan. 12, 1965 to Dorquita Waldon and Bobby Boyd. She was preceded in death by her mother and paternal grandmother, Muriel Oden.

She graduated from Westwood High School.

Survivors include her father, Bobby Boyd; two children, Jeremy Davis and Derrick Walden; two sisters, Tracey Walden and Christian Walden; one brother, Corey Walden; grandparents, George and Gladys Beavers; aunts and uncles. Two special friends, James Worley and Shawn Foote.

Mrs. Frances Anderson Farkas
Mrs. Frances Anderson Farkas , 91, of Birmingham, Ala., died March 9, 2002.

She was born December 23, 1910 in Atlanta, Ga., second child of Sallie B. Carmichael and Andrew Paul Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry F. Farkas, her parents, and sisters, Margaret A. Beck and Pauline A. Farkas.

Surviving are nieces, Judy F. Halliday (Henry) of Atlanta, and Paula F. Edgar (James) of Atlanta; nephew Charles L. Farkas Jr. (Christel) of Birmingham; several grand nieces and nephews.

She was a beloved member of First Christian Church of Birmingham (Disciples of Christ) for more than 77 years. She was a member of the Ona/Ruth CWF Circle, the Fellowship Sunday School Class, the Tuesday Girls -Quilting Bee, and served in many ministries of the church and Hargis Christian Retreat.

A funeral was Friday, March 15 at 2 p.m. at Johns - Ridout's Southside, 2116 University Blvd., Birmingham.

Burial was at Elmwood.

Mrs. Annie Ruth Birdsong
Mrs. Annie Ruth Birdsong, 83, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at Newnan Hospital.

A funeral for Mrs. Birdsong, affectionately known as "Ruth," will be Sunday, March 17 at 2 p.m. at the Wehadkee Baptist Church, Abbottsford Community, LaGrange, Ga. with Rev. Otis Wilson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery, LaGrange.

She was the youngest of seven children born to the late Ulysses Haynes and Mattie Sims Haynes, born Nov. 1, 1918 in Troup County, Ga. She was married to the late Jesse Birdsong. Her siblings Bud, Cora Lee, Lillie Mae, Ora Lee and Voncile preceded her in death.

Mrs. Birdsong joined Wehadkee Baptist Church at an early age where she served faithfully until her health declined. She served on the Building Fund and Program Committees and was a member of the Senior Choir and a member of the City Wide Prayer Band. The dedicated group of ladies served God through helping other people. To know Mrs. Birdsong was to love her, she was always willing to give a helping hand.

She was employed by the LaGrange Board of Education as a cook until retiring after 20 years of faithful service.

Surviving are a sister, Mable Haynes Johnson, a host of devoted nieces, cousing and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Jack Powell Keith
Mr. Jack Powell Keith, 81, retired chairman and president of First Bankshares, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002.

Mr. Keith was born July 28, 1920 in Newnan, Ga. He was the son of the late Marion Elizabeth Powell and Lawrence William Keith. He was a graduate of Auburn University and served with the U.S. Army in World War II, participating in the campaigns in North Africa and Europe. Following the war he began his banking career with the Manufacturers National Bank of Newnan, leaving there in 1959 as executive vice-president to become president of First National Bank in West Point, Ga.

He was an active member of the Georgia Banker's Association for more than 30 years, having served as its president and chairman of its executive council. He also held the position of chairman of the Georgia Banker's Insurance Trust for more than 26 years. From 1972 through 1978 he served as a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.

Mr. Keith immersed himself in the community of West Point and the Valley area. He served as chairman of the board of George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital, president of the Valley Chamber of Commerce and was active in the work of the American Red Cross. He was a trustee of the George H. Lanier Council, Boy Scouts of America and received the first annual Distinguished Citizen Award presented by this council. He also received the Boy Scouts' coveted Silver Beaver Award.

He was president of the West Point Rotary Club and took great pride in his dedication to perfect attendance for more than 55 years. He was presented the Paul Harris Fellow Award by his club in 1984.

He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of West Point where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.

Surviving are his wife, May King Keith; daughters, Robbie Keith Holt of Columbus, Ga., Frances Keith Reeves and her husband, Michael Charles Reeves, of Southern Shores, North Carolina, and four grandchildren, Charles Powell Reeves, Kathryn Laney Reeves , Sarah King Reeves and Caroline Herring Reeves.

A funeral will be held at graveside Friday, March 15 at 2 p.m. at Marseilles Cemetery in West Point.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of West Point, P.O. Box 147, West Point, Ga. 31833 or a charity of their choice.

Mr. Howard McLamb, 48, of Locust Grove, died March 7, 2002.

Born in Liberty County, Ga., he was the son of the late Ernest F. and Jessie Knight McLamb.

Surviving are brothers and sisters, Gail McLamb, Locust Grove, Ernest F. McLamb Jr. of Pine Mountain, Lucinda Kaylor of Carrollton, Virginia Sperling of Silsbee, TX, and Phillip McLamb of Jonesboro.

Miss Kelly Renee Mincy
Miss Kelly Renee Mincy, 14, of Dixon Road, Newnan, died Sunday, March 10, 2002 at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Miss Mincy was born January 20, 1988 in Coweta County, daughter of Cathy Mincy Caswell and the late Thomas Mincy. She was an eighth grade student at Newnan Christian School and a member of Bible Baptist Church. Besides her father, she was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Paul and Betty Dupree.

Surviving are her mother and step-father Cathy and Glenn Caswell, Newnan; paternal grandparents Henry and Ethel Mincy, Atlanta, and J. P. and Grace Caswell of Newnan. Also surviving are two brothers, Justin Caswell and Matthew Mincy, both of Newnan.

A funeral was Wednesday, March 13 at 11 a.m. at Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Anderson officiating. The remains were placed in state at the church one hour prior to service time.

Mr. Thomas R. Winkles, 52, of Bear Creek Road, Moreland, Ga., died March 11, 2002 at Franklin Health Care.

Mr. Winkles was born November 4, 1949 in Coweta County to Emma Hill and Joseph L. Winkles. He worked as a cashier at Nifty Foods, Grantville.

A funeral was held at Martin and Hightower Hillcrest Chapel Wednesday, March 13 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Tim Taffer officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Mike Estep, Bob Estep, Mark Dewberry, Buddy Hall, Scott Hall and Tommy Ayers.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Linda Estep Winkles; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Jack Mapp of Newnan; father, Mr. Joe Winkles of Newnan; brother, Mr. Jack Winkles of Duluth; grandchild, Zack Mapp.

Mrs. Fannie Wood
Mrs. Fannie Wood, affectionately known as "Mrs. Pumpkin," 81, of Newnan, died March 10, 2002 at Newnan Hospital.

Mrs. Wood was born November 16, 1920 to the late Ms. Willie M. Shephard. She married the late Mr. Hollin Wood, and they had two children.

She joined the Old Mt. Bethlehem Baptist Church at an early age. She served on the Usher Board for more than 20 years, then joined the Mother Board, where she served faithfully until her health failed.

Her sister, Mrs. Mattie Jones, also preceded her in death, as well as one grandchild.

A funeral will be Saturday, March 16 at 2:30 p.m. at old Mount Bethlehem Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles Character will officiate, assisted by the Rev. John Farmer, Rev. Johnny Coleman and Rev. Gregory Williams. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Timothy Wood, Brian Echols, Scottie Wood, Troy Wood, Delbert Hill and Josephius Florence.

Surviving are two children, Mr. and Mrs. Willie (Henrietta) Wood of Boston, MA, and Mr. and Mrs. Milton (Virginia) Reese of Newnan; 11 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends; two lifelong friends, Mrs., Lula B. Mitchell and Mrs. Jeannett Strozier.

Mr. Norman Eugene Bowie, 72, of Copeland Road, Newnan, Ga., died Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at Southwest Christian Hospice.

He was born September 10, 1929 in Newnan. He was a retired salesman with the former Stovall Chevrolet. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served in the Army. He was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home Thursday, March 14 from 7-9 p.m.

A funeral will be at McKoon Funeral Home chapel Friday, March 15 at 2 p.m. The Rev. F. D. McWhorter will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Roscoe Road, Newnan.

Pallbearers will be Jim Cadenhead, Mitch Coggin, Jeff Denney, Jimmy Gantt, Clavin Robinson, Jeff Woody. Honorary pallbearers will be Archie Adams, Jerry Bass, Todd Moore, Steve Parten and Jerry Wingfield.

Mrs. Merle Hill Coker, 92, of Luthersville, Ga., died Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at Newnan Hospital.

A funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 14 at graveside in the Luthersville Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Felder will officiate.

Mrs. Coker was born July 5, 1909 in Chambers County, Alabama, daughter of the late Alberta and Ada Johnson Hill. A former resident of Atlanta, she had lived in Luthersville for the past 25 years, was retired from S. P. Richards Paper Company in Atlanta, and was a member of Brookhaven Baptist Church in Atlanta.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Martin and Mrs. Ann Eidson, both of Luthersville; son, George W. Coker of Smyrna; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Cole was born August 26, 1917 in Paulding County, Ga. He was a retired route inspector with the U.S. Postal Service and served in the Army in World War II.

A funeral will be at McKoon Funeral Home chapel Sunday, March 17 at 2 p.m. with Dr. Ted O. Padgett officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, 164 Fairview Road.

Mrs. Sarah Young Saffir
Mrs. Sarah Young Saffir, 83, a Coral Gables, Fla., resident for 55 years, died March 8 in Doctors Hospital following cardiac arrest.

A selfless mother, a loving helpmate and a good friend to many, she is survivied by her husband of 60 years, Herbert; son, Dr. Richard Saffir; daughter, Barbara Saffir; and sister, Tommie Young Ridinger.

Sarah Pauline Young Saffir traveled the world to help her husband with his pioneering work on hurricane-resistant design. She was born Jan. 24. 1919 in the tiny town of Sycamore, Ga., and moved to Newnan, Ga. as a baby. She fell in love with Herbert during a dance at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he was an engineering student and she, a writer for Sears-Roebuck. They moved to New York, living in historic Brooklyn Heights, where she worked for a railway company. During World War II she worked at various army posts while her husband served in the Army.

She moved to Coral Gables in 1947. After becoming a founding member of the Coral Gables Civic Club, she also became active in the Coral Gables Woman's Club and the First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables. She also belonged to the Coral Gables Country Club. More recently she was accepted into the Southern Dames, a public-service group that recognized her Southern roots. Her family immigrated to the U.S. in the mid-1700s. She also worked for other charitable organizations, including the Girl Scouts and the Cub Scouts.

A memorial service was Wednesday, March 13 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables, 536 Coral Way, Coral Gables, Fla.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests those wishing to honor her memory to plant a flowering tree in remembrance of her love of beautiful tropical plants and flowers.

Mr. Anthony "Toney" Wayne Lambert
Mr. Anthony "Toney" Wayne Lambert, 42, of Franklin, Ga., died March 8, 2002 in Centralhatchee as the result of an automobile accident.

A funeral was held Monday, March 11, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick McMahan officiating. Music was provided by Leesa Stutts Conthran and Tonnie Adams.

Pallbearers were V. D. Massey, Frank Crook, Talmadge Phillips, Jack Davis, Cody McGowan, and John Stewart, all members of American Legion Post 148. An honor guard made up of American Legion members from across the state provided military honors at the burial in Heard County Memorial Gardens cemetery.

Mr. Lambert was born January 24, 1960 in Columbus, Ohio to Fred George Lambert and Barbara Sue Sparks Lambert. He was a Methodist by faith. He was a decorated Disabled American Veteran. He served in the United States National Guard and was awarded the ARCOTR 1st Award, MSR 3rd Award, FLGMUC, Rifle MM, Hand Gren, TOW 2nd CL, and the PIstol MM.

"Toney" was best known in Franklin and the surrounding area for his tireless work in the American Legion Post #148 where he served as commander. He was a wonderful friend to all who passed through its gates.

Surviving are his parents, Barbara Lambert of Freeport, Fla., and Fred G. Lambert of Franklin, Ga.; sister, Romona Lambert of Freeport, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law, Christopher and Mildred Lambert of Franklin, Ga.; niece, Crystal Lambert, also of Franklin, Ga.; a number of aunts and uncles; a host of friends.

Mrs. Annie Ruth Ellis Roberts, 79, died suddenly March 8, 2002.

She was born October 16, 1922 in Meriwether County to the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ellis. She later joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Sharpsburg, Ga.

She was named "Mama" in the neighborhood where she lived and was well-loved by all the children.

A funeral was March 12 at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Sharpsburg. The Rev. Ronald Grooms officiated, assisted by Rev. Johnny Terrell. Burial will be in Neriah Cemetery in Senoia. Pallbearers were Kenneth Leavell, George Brownlee, Willie McMullin, Patrick Leavell, Steve Davison, Dennis Bussie and Calvin Boyd.

Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Katie Pickens of Altnata; brother, Mr. and Mrs. Hezekia (Ollie Mae) Ellis of Palmetto; five grandsons, Carlton, Anthony, Jeffery, Carl and Walter; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one god child, Dennis Bussie; two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Danna Tigner, Miss Diane Tennie; a host of nieces, nephews, and a very special friend, Mrs. Claudia Mae Boyd.

Mrs. Marie Barnes, 88, of Victoria Lane, Newnan, died Monday, March 11, 2002 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center.

Mrs. Barnes was born August 10, 1913 in Coweta County. She was a homemaker and was predeceased by her husband, W. T. Barnes.

The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

A funeral will be at graveside in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Tuesday, March 12 at 2 p.m. Dr Gene Tyre will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Roscoe Road.

Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. John Littleton Brown
Mr. John Littleton Brown, 80, of U.S. Highway 29 North, Newnan, Ga. died suddenly Saturday, March 9, 2002 at his residence.

He was born April 27, 1921 in Coweta County, son of the late Grover Cleveland Brown and Mary Alexander Brown.

Mr. Brown was a member of Ramah Baptist Church and a retired employee of Ford Motor Company, and a member of the Local #882, United Auto Workers Union. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He served in the 85th Mountain Division in World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart, a World War II Victory Medal, and a European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with two bronze stars.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lenora R. Brown of Newnan, Ga.; daughter, Mrs. Linda B. Holbrook of Sharpsburg; son, Mr. Wayne Littleton Brown of Newnan; two sisters, Mrs. Ann Spelman of Atlanta and Mrs. Margaret Means of Newnan; brother, Mr. Paul G. Brown, also of Newnan; five grandchildren.

A funeral will be Tuesday, March 12 at 2 p.m. at Ramah Baptist Church. Burial will be in Ramah cemetery with Rev. Ralph Bobo, Rev. Jack Bryant and Rev. Tom Edwards officiating.

The family was receiving friends 5-9 p.m. Monday evening at Hillcrest Chapel.

Mr. Kenneth L. Harris Jr., 30, of LaGrange, Ga., died Saturday, March 9, 2002 at Georgia Baptist Meriwether Hospital in Warm Springs.

A funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 12 at graveside in the Louise Baptist Church Cemetery in Troup County.

Born June 12, 1971 in LaGrange, Mr. Harris was a lifelong resident of Troup County and was employed by Mid-South Mechanical Inc. He loved his family, playing pool and working on cars.

Surviving are his wife, Bonnie Harris; daughter, Shelby Harris; a son, Austin Harris, all of LaGrange, Ga.; father and step-mother, Kenneth and Patricia Harris of Columbus; step-father, Buddy McGuire of Haynesvile, Ala.; sister, Regina Acreman of Greenville, Ala.; four step-sisters, Angela Crowder and Tracey Oldes, both of Columbus, Stacey Morris and Tracey McGuire, both of Hogansville; grandparents, Joyce and Buddy Smith of Louise and Horace and Louise Steele of Five Points, Ala.; mother-in-law, Marie and Frank Raspotnik; father-in-law, Donnie Synoground; sisters-in-law, Michelle Kendrick and Tina Synoground, all of Pine Mountain; brothers-in-law, Scottie Synoground of Dawsonville and Donnie Synoground Jr. of Athens, Tenn.; a number of nieces and nephews.

His mother, Mottis Earline McGuire, died Feb. 14.
