Mr. Walter "Chief" Maddox of Dayton, Ohio died Tuesday, May 28, 2002.

Mrs. Lynnda Chappell, 45, of Forest Park died Friday, May 24, 2002 at Portsbridge Hospice in Riverdale following an extended illness.
Mrs. Chappell was born in Fulton County, daughter of the late Robert and Doris Ware. She was preceded in death by a brother, Darryll Ware, and a sister, Gail Richison.
A graveside funeral service was held at Corinth Cemetery in Fayetteville. The Rev. Tom Shannon officiated.

Mr. Donald Hendrix, 65, of Newnan died Sunday, May 26, 2002 at his residence.
Mr. Hendrix was born Dec., 20, 1936 in Newnan. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Hendrix owned and operated an upholstery shop.

Mrs. Helen Jaros
Mrs. Helen Jaros, 92, of Newnan, died Monday, May 27, 2002 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center.
Mrs. Jaros was born May 27, 1910 in Massachusetts, daughter of the late Teofil and Emelia Jaros. After finishing high school, she worked for a year as a secretary.
In 1929, she met and married Walter Jaros Jr., who preceded her in death after a marriage of 55 years. She spent most of her married life in Clinton, Mass.
Mrs. Jaros retired from Colonial Press Company after 22 years. Following the death of her husband, she moved to Newnan to be close to her daughter, Mary Cali.
Her family will remember her as a loving, strong willed mother and grandmother, who always put her family first. She loved all types of needlework, including knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed making gifts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, particularly Christmas stockings since Christmas was an important holiday to her.
Mrs. Jaros was a devout Catholic, who prayed her rosary daily. She was a member of St. George Catholic Church.
A son, Walter Jaros Jr., preceded her in death.
The family will receive friend today, May 28, at Jones Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 29, at 11 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church with Father Stephen Lyness officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary and Salvatore Cali of Newnan; son, Theodore and Helen Jaros of Scottsdale, Ariz.; sister, Stephanie Warden of East Dennis, Mass.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Lassetter was born June 1, 1928 in Fayetteville. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Freeman was born June 5, 1947 to Thomas and Mattie Stinchcomb and Mattie Lou Dallas of Fayetteville.

Mr. William F. Bateman, Jr., 43, of Hubbard, Ohio, died April 28, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Bateman was a graduate of the University of Alabama, and served in the U.S. Air Force.
A service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan on June 11, 2002, at 1 p.m. The body was cremated and the ashes will be buried. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Ursuline.

Born Jan. 5, 1935 in Fulton County, Mr. Bingham was a retired cable repairman for BellSouth. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Fairburn and of BellSouth Pioneers of America.

Mr. Todd Cavender, 29, of West Point, died Friday, May 24, 2002, of injuries received in an automobile accident in Troup County.
Born April 3, 1973, in LaGrange, Mr. Cavender had lived in Troup County all of his life and attended Troup High School. He attended Roper Heights Baptist Church in West Point and was employed as a truck driver for Holliday Construction Company in Greenville.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. today in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with Reverend Jackie Taylor and Reverend James Adams officiating. Burial will be in the Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

Mr. Bohannon was born November 28, 1934 in Newnan to the late Deacon Willie "Frisk" Bohannon Sr. and Mrs. Sarah F. Bohannon. He died May 20, 2002 at Emory University Hospital in Decatur, Ga.
One brother, Willie "Skeet" Bhnannon Jr. also preceded him in death.
He received his education in the Coweta County School system. He served in the United States Army, then worked in several capacities in construction. Being well-liked in the community, he had a way of relating to people from all walks of life in a positive manner. He joined the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and was baptized at an early age under the pastorate of the late Rev. R. N. Martin. He gave Mt. Sinai his full support through the years.

Affectionately known as "Bro Boy," Ronald Carter was born June 10, 1940 in Coweta County, Ga. to the late Christopher and Mary Lou Carter. He was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1959.
He joined Powell Chapel United Methodist Church at an early age and attended faithfully until his death. He was a devoted, faithful and diligent worker in his church.

Mr. Donald B. "Don" Knott, 64, of North Highway 113, Carrollton, Ga., died Friday, May 24, 2002 at a Carrollton area nursing facility.
He was born February 20, 1938 in Carroll County to the late Leonard David Knott and Thelma Bishop Knott. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a retired insurance salesman. Mr. Knott was a member of the Whitesburg Christian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Frances Caldwell Knott of Carrollton; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Larry North of Jonesboro, Ga.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Ann Knott of Newnan, Ga. and Tommy and Lynn Knott of Tyrone, Ga.; step-son, Ronnie McClung of Carrollton, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Wilson and Myra Knott of Whitesburg; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Rubena Reid, 67, of Post Road, Stone Mountain, Ga., died Saturday, May 18, 2002 at DeKalb Medical Center.

Mrs. Reid, known as "Aldit," was born October 6, 1934 to Simian and Georgianna Simpson at Sherwood Content, Trelawny, Jamica, West Indies. She attended Waldensia Primary School, where she graduated at the top of her class. Mrs. Reid was a lead singer at Waldensia Baptist Church with the trip "The Nightengale." It was there she met her husband of 51 years, Bishop Daniel Reid. In 1970 she migrated to the United States to give her children a better opportunity. While in America she attended nursing school, receiving her degree in geriatric nursing. She worked in the nursing home for more than 21 years, taking care of the elderly and disabled patients.
Surviving are her husband, Bishop Daniel Reid; eight children, Ricky, Queenie, Dawn, Peter, Juliet, Sybil, Jean and Diana; many adopted children she called her own; 33 grandchildren; sisters, Enid, Rona and Epsie; brothers, David and Adalfurs; a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Lois Binion Warren
Mrs. Lois Binion Warren, 90, of Newnan, died May 23, 2002 at Newnan Hospital.
A native of Sparta, Ga., she was one of 13 children born to Byron Bert and Flossie Elizabeth Binion. During the decade of 1940 she worked in Sparta for Southern Bell. She retired after 28 years in Civil Service for the United States Government. Though she had no children of her own, she found great joy in mothering others' children, including her many nieces and nephews. For many years she was a constant presence at First Baptist Church of Newnan and was happiest when working with Mrs. Kate Fuller, who served as church hostess. Caring for others was her passion in life as was exemplified by her many years of volunteer service at Peachtree Regional Hospital. Whenever there was sickness or loss within her own framily or her church family, Mrs. Warren was alway there to lend a hand -- doing all those things for others who could not do them for themselves.
Surving are sister, Sadie Binion Ebner of Temple, Texas; and a greater extended family of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mrs. Mary Inez Roberts Henry, 94, of Douglasville and formerly of College Park, and Opelika, Ala., died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at her home.
Mrs. Henry was born Jan. 1, 1908, in LaGrange to the late Otis Hardy Roberts and the late Minnie Viola Hayes Roberts. She was a homemaker and skilled seamstress, and before her vision declined she loved reading, especially the Bible, and crocheting. She was also an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
Mrs. Henry was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Worth Henry; brothers, J.J. Roberts and William O'Neal Roberts; daughter-in-law Valeria Grider Henry; grandchildren Mary Helen Woods Campbell and Warren Keith Woods, and great-grandson Campbell Jude Cole.
A grave-side service will be held Saturday, May 25, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park. The Rev. Marvin G. Reynolds will officiate. The family will receive visitors on Friday, May 24, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hill was born August 6, 1926 in Meriwether, Georgia to Hugh and Lavada Bowles, who preceded her in death. She was the eighth of 13 children, 11 of whom preceded her in death.
She graduated from Washington High School in Atlanta, Ga. where she was a drum majorette. She sang on the radio, played the piano, worked as a school teacher and raised children and grandchildren for many years. She was a member of New Life Family Center in Marietta, Ga. She was a prayer warrior and deeply devoted to her family.
Surviving are her husband, Joe W. Hill; six children, Bonnie Crowe, Betty Cook (Augustus), Markeva "Cookie" Hill, Lisa Dabreu, Karen Simmons (Bobby), and Maria Fonda (Wesley); brothers and sisters, Harold A. Bowles (Shirley), William Harris, Louise Scandrick, Daisy M. Harris, and Florence E. Harris; brother-in-law, Woodrow Pinson; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

Mrs. Robinson was born in Meriwether County, Luthersville, Ga. She was adopted as an infant by Charlie and Nettie Robinson, her uncle and aunt. They moved to Newnan, where she attended school. She was baptized at a young age at Mount Vernon Baptist Church under Rev. R. L. Jones. She completed college and taught in the Coweta County schools for 12 years where she met her husband, Mr. Charlie Perkins. Mrs. Perkins relocated to California, where she graduated from nursing school and joined the Cosmopolitan Baptist Church with Rev. A. R. Gentle, pastor. At the church she worked in the B.T.U. Mission, as Church Clerk, and pianist. It is in California where she adopted her son, Eddie Lee Perkins. She moved back to Georgia and resumed her work in Mt. Vernon and was president of the mission work in the Association Congress and all Conventions. She was also a member of Eastern Star A. F. A. M. Old Ship of Zion #1. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters and sisters-in-law.
Surviving are her husband, Deacon Charlie Perkins, son and loving daughter-in-law; Eddie and Jacquline Perkins; granddaughter, Keena Sadie Perkins; six god children; one half-sister, Maureen Matthews; aunt, Rosa L. Ferrell of Anniston, Ala.; a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, cousins and relatives and friends.

Mr. Chancey "Bill" Williams, 77, of Stoney Point Road, Roopville, Ga., died Wednesday, May 22 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton.
He was born January 28, 1925 in Crestview, Florida to the late Frank Williams and Meddie Capps Williams. He was a retired truck driver for the William L Bonnell Company in Newnan.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers, and one great-grandchild.
Surviving are his wife, Mary F. Williams of Roopville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jessie and Darlene Kitchens of Carrollton, Rodney Dean and Lisa A. Williams and Mark and Angela Williams, all of Roopville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary L. and Roy Sharpe of Columbus, Ga. and Dawn Jackson of Tampa, Fla.; sister, Lois Hilstrom of Williamsburg, VA; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be Saturday, May 25 at 1 p.m. at Martin and Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Keith Runels officiating.
Pallbearers will be Stacey Kitchens, Allen Shiver, John Williams, David Sharpe, Roy Sharpe Jr., Rodney Williams, B. J. Williams and Pete Sanders.
Burial will be in Holy Ground Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was born January 7, 1935 in Coweta County, daughter of Raymond Handley and Ethel Handley. She worked at William L Bonnell Co. and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Newnan.
A funeral is Thursday, May 23 at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel. The Rev. Thomas Boyd will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Lawn.
Surviving are her husband, Thomas Garner; son, Tommy Garner of Newnan; daughter, Tammy Asher of Newnan; brother, Gerald Handley; step-children, Kenneth Gardner, Mary Robinson; two grandchildren.

Mrs. Dolores Mae Chambers Wright, 55, of Newnan, Ga., died May 17, 2002.
Her parents Curtis Clinton and Virginia Mae (Leech) Chambers and a brother William Clay Chambers preceded Mrs. Wright in death.
Surviving are her husband, Jimmie Wilson Wright; daughters, Donna Marie Smith and Stephanie Anne Wright; sons-in-law, Randall Beard and Jason David Smith; six grandchildren, Courtney Kristine Price, Parker Christian Smith, Dustin Paul Caldwell, Alexandria Cole Smith, Chandler Hayden Smith and Caitlin Anne Beard; brother, Curtis Clinton Chambers Jr. of Philadelphia; two aunts in Virginia.
The family will receive friends at the home, 145 Clingstone Cr., Newnan, Ga. Wednesday, May 22, 2002 from 6-9 p.m.
A memorial service will be Thursday, May 23 at 1 p.m. at Cokes Chapel United Methodist Church.

Mr. William M. "Bill" Wright, 80, of 27 Gilley Road, Carrollton, Ga., died Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at a Carrollton nursing home.
He was born January 27, 1922 in Bowdon, Ga. to the late Willis Martin Wright and Eunice Jackson Wright. He was a WWII Army Veteran and was a retired auto parts manager. Mr. Wright was a member of the Woodmen of the World and of Cross Plains Christian Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Leila Landrum.
Surviving are his wife, Rachel J. Wright of Carrollton; five children, Teresa Buchanan of Carrollton, Richard and Rhonda Wright of Whitesburg, Debbie and Tommy Harris of Villa Rica, Steve Wright of Sharpsburg, and Linda Lester of Carrollton; one brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Sybile Wright of Woodberry; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be Thursday, May 23, 2002 at 3 p.m. at Martin and Hightower Heritage Chapel in Carrollton with Minister Jason Nix officiating. Music will be rendered by Louis Holmes.
Pallbearers will be Robert Wright, Larry Wright, Phil King, Hugh Steele, Glenn Folds Jr. and Tommy Harris.
Burial will be in West Georgia Memorial park with the American Legion Post 143 making the flag presentation.

Mrs. Martha Joan Noles Casey, 52, of Milner, Ga., died Sunday, May 19, 2002 at Portsbridge Hospice.
She was born July 21, 2949 in Coweta County, daughter of the late William Z. Noles and Lillian Buchanon Noles Davis. She was a bookkeeper and attended White Harvest Ministries Church.
Surviving are her husband Ed Casey of Milner; daughter, Michelle Adcock of Molena; step-daughter, Michelle Slay of Fayetteville; step-son, Skipper Casey of Hampton; sister, Betty Allred of Ellijay; brothers, Henry Thomas Noles of Grantville and Anthony Noles of Chatsworth; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Thelma Audrey Collins Lowe died Sunday, May 29, 2002 at her residence.
A funeral will be Thursday, May 23, 2002 at 1 p.m. at Emmanuel Outreach Ministries with Pastor Billy B. Avery officiating. Burial will be private.

Mrs. Thelma Audrey Collins Lowe was born February 24, 1928, to John and Lucy Collins. She was the third child of eight children. She attended and graduated from the New York City School System, and attended Fordham University. After marrying Gordon Andrew Lowe Sr., the couple had three children.
Mrs. Lowe worked for Bankers Trust in Manhattan until she retired. Then she began working in the field of her first love, teaching children. Children were the greatest joy of her life. Sharing the joys of reading and exploring the world through books and movies was a great passion in her life. After relocating to Georgia she was able to accomplish another dream, by working at the Newnan-Coweta Public Library. Her greatest hope was that the knowledge, the information and the wisdom that she had be passed on and that it will make a difference in the lives of the children she has touched.
Surviving are children, Judith Braithwaite of Washington State, Gordon Andrew Lowe Jr. of New York, and Mariette Allison Lowe-Bryan of Georgia; grandchildren, Christine Wade, Renee Braithwaite, Samiha Alexander, Broderick Stewart II and Malik Wade; sisters, Dorothy Clark, Joan Keyes, Maryann Robinson and Ethel Mossman.

He was a native of Coweta County and son of the late Jessie A. and Christine Blair Russell.
