Mrs. Mary Buchanan
Mrs. Mary Buchanan, 68, of Newnan, Ga., died Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at West Georgia Hospice after a short illness.

Mrs. Buchanan was born in Troup County, Ga. February 14, 1934 to Lizzie Lou Abner Pike Hickey and the late George Bluford Pike. She was preceded in death by her husband James Austin Buchanan and three sisters, Ruth Buchanan, Betty Brazeal and Austin Buchanan. In earlier years Mrs. Buchanan was employed by the Playtex Manufacturing Company, but she spent most of her adult years loving and caring for her family.

A funeral will be Saturday, May 11 at 11 a.m. at Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Darden Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Franklin City Cemetery. The family will receive guests at the funeral home Friday from 6-8 p.m.

She is survived by her mother and step-father, Lou and Robert Lee Hickey of Franklin; children and their spouses, Faye and Jim Allor of Ephesus, Ga., Joe and Leona Buchanan of Newnan, and Marty Buchanan and Evis Lucas, also of Newnan; sister, Emma Rivet of Raceland, La.; brother, Douglas Pike of Franklin; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Genevieve Connell Davis, 97, of S. Parrish Avenue, Adel, Ga.,died May 9, 2002 at Presbyterian Home in Quitman, Ga. following a short illness.

She was born November 22, 1904 in Quitman, Ga. and lived most of her life in Cook County. She was a retired school teacher and curriculum director for Coweta County.

A funeral will be Sunday, May 12, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church Chapel, Adel, Ga. Dr. Mike Ruffin will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh, N.C. Monday, May 13 at 3 p.m.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home, 202 N. Hutchinson Ave., Adel, Ga.

The family has requested that no flowers be sent. Donations may be made to the Haydn Davis Family Scholarship Fund.

Surviving are her son, James Haydn Davis of Manassas, Virginia; and daughter, Ann Davis Sumner of Adel, Ga.

Mrs. Sonya Foster of Decatur, Ga. died Monday, May 6, 2002 in Decatur.

A funeral will be Saturday, May 11 at 1 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, Corinth Road, Grantville, Ga., with Rev. Davis, pastor, Rev. Rufus Bryant officiating, assisted by Elder J. McCauley. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers and flower ladies will be cousins and friends.

Mrs. Foster was born May 8, 1966 in Atlanta, Ga. to Mr. and Mrs. John Arthur Foster (Thelma). At an early age she joined the Rose of Sharon Holy Church in Atlanta, Ga.

She graduated from Avondale High School in 1984 and later attended and graduated from the Secondary College of Nursing where she was employed with Glenwood Manor Nursing Home in Decatur, Ga.

Surviving are her mother and father, John A. Foster and Thelma Foster; grandfather, Deacon John Will Foster; sisters, Ms. Melanie E. Foster, Mrs. Lisa T. Jones (Arthoms), Ms. Gwenda D. Foster, of Decatur; nieces, Pamela, Gwendolyn J. ,Michaelea M., Morgan V. and great niece Aaliyah J. Foster, Mya M. Jones; nephews, Durante J. Foster and Xavier M. Jones, also her boyfriend, Jacquel Shaw; a host of in-laws, great aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Zach W. Lee
Mr. Zach W. Lee, 95, of Gainesville and a former resident of the Lone Oak Community of Meriwether County died Thursday, May 9, 2002 at Lakeshore Heights Nursing Center in Gainesville.

A funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11 at Allen-Lee Memorial United Methodist Church in Lone Oak. The Rev. Rance Sprayberry will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Mr. Lee was born December 14, 1906 in Lone Oak, son of the lat Albert Owen Lee and the late Lizzie Willingham Lee. Before making his home with his daughter in Gainesville ten years ago, he was a lifelong resident of Lone Oak and was a member of Allen-Lee Memorial United Methodist Church. He attended and played baseball for Clemson University, retired as paymaster for Uniroyal, Inc. in Hogansville, and was an amateur radio operator for more than sixty years.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Van Thurston of Gainesville; two grandchildren, Van Jr. and Teresa Thurston of Williamson and Lee Ann and Frank Harney of Gainesville; four great-grandsons, Ike Thurston, Zach Thurston, Tate Harney and Tyler Harney; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Florence Lee of Lone Oak.

Mrs. Mary Jean Scantling, 59, of Newnan, Ga., died Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Ga.

A funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Stanley Rogers and the Rev. Tony Thompson will officiate and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Friday.

Mrs. Scantling was born March 9, 1943, in Coweta County, daughter of the late Alvin Eugene Walker and the late Florence Kee Walker Haynes. She was a lifelong resident of Coweta County, was retired from Bressler Manufacturing Company, and was a member of Happy Valley Baptist Church. She was the wife of the late James Hall Scantling.

Surviving are daughter, Ora Jane Scantling of Newnan; son, David Gene Meadows of Franklin; brother, Charlie Walker of Newnan; sisters, Eleanor Haynes of Marion, Alabama, and Sheila Walker of LaGrange; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Reginald Lee "Red" Washington died May 7, 2002 in Cobb County.

A funeral will be Saturday, May 11 at 3 p.m. at Powell Chapel United Methodist Church on Old Atlanta Highway, off U.S. Highway 29 North, Newnan, with Rev. J. P. Geter, pastor, officiating and the Rev. R. W. Sutton presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers and flower ladies will be family and friends.

Reginald Lee Washington Sr. was born November 26, 1963 to the late Mr. Leroy Washington and Mrs. Myrtice Washington. He was a devoted father, loving brother and son and a devoted worker. He joined Powell Chapel United Methodist Church at an early age. He was employed by the Archer Western Contractor, Ltd. of Atlanta, Ga.

Mrs. Josie Mae Wimbush died May 8, 2002 at her residence.

A funeral will be Saturday, May 11 at 2 p.m. at Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Gay, Ga. with the Rev. E. A. Stephens, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. S. T. Curtis and Rev. Joseph Harris. Mrs. Wimbush was born January 9, 1939. She was the eighth of ten children born to Mr. and Mrs. Jospeh Alexander Sr. She joined Mount Sinai Baptist Church at an early age.

Surviving are hur husband, Silas Wimbush Jr.; sons, Calvin (Tressie) Wimbush of Pensacola, Florida, Carl (Debra) Wimbush of Senoia, Ga.; daughters, Tracy (Rev. Willie A. Mr. Stanley A. LaFargue
Mr. Stanley A. LaFargue, 78, of Baton Rouge, LA, died Tuesday, April 30, 2002 in Baton Rouge.

He was born in New Orleans, LA, and moved to Baton Rouge in 1955. He had worked as a mortgage broker. He served in the United States Army as a paratrooper with the 508th Co. in World War Two and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He participated in the D-Day invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.

Private services were planned.

Surviving are his wife, Effie Carasco LaFarge of Baton Rouge; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Jarrell Hopper; two sons, Terry LaFargue and his wife Kimberly, and Tommy G. LaFargue; grandchildren, Courtney Greer, Jason Greer, John Hopper, Katie Hopper, Taylor Lee LaFargue, Morgan Lane LaFargue and Summer Paris LaFargue; two aunts, Monica and Rita Reid; sister-in-law, Totsie McKnight and her husband Paul of Senoia, Ga.; and brother-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. E. D. Carasco of Turin, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Irma and Cleve LaFargue.

Mr. Jimmie D. Sewell, 90, of Newnan, Ga., died Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at Haralson Nursing Home.

Mr. Sewell was born March 16, 1912 in Coweta County, Ga. He worked as a textile weaver at the former Arnco Mills in Coweta County and was a veteran of World War Two, serving in the United States Navy.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, LaVerne Sewell.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 9 from 6-8 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home.

A funeral will be Friday, May 10, 2002 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Doug Bearden and Rev. Marvin Gunter will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

Mr. Lloyd Delbert Thomas
Mr. Lloyd Delbert Thomas, 80, of Franklin, Ga., died Monday, May 6, 2002 at Newnan Hospital after an extended illness. Mr. Thomas was born in 1921 to Shelby and Gladys Thomas in Knox, Indiana where he grew up and spent his life until entering the Army in 1942. During World War Two Mr. Thomas served in the European Theatre, taking part in the Normandy invasion on D-Day and also in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. After the war, he returned home and worked in the construction industry. His job took him all over America as he supervised the construction of silo's and mine shafts. Mr. Thomas moved to the Newnan area several years ago after the death of his wife, Mrs. Ruth Thomas, to be near his daughter. When living in Miami, Florida, he was a very active member of the North Miami Elks Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Julie Cox of Franklin, Ga.; sister, Mrs. Ruby Knapp of Fort Pierce, Fla.; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

At his wishes, Mr. Thomas was cremated. The family plans a memorial service in June.

Mr. Blake Lawrence Tolleson, 15, of 180 Little New York Trail, Whitesburg, Ga., died Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at his residence.

He was born February 11, 1987 in Carrollton, Ga. He was an honor student at Central High School of Carrollton, played Varsity and Jr. Varsity football, and attended the First United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his parents, Robert L. and Sandy Tolleson of Whitesburg; a twin sister, Brooke Tolleson of Whitesburg; maternal grandparents, Dennis and Mary Lawrence of Whitesburg; paternal grandparents, John F. and Martha Jane Tolleson of Carrollton; aunts and unncles, Denise and John Oxenford, Kelley Adams, Caroline and Neil Martin, Becky & Gary Dakessian, and Donna and John Tolleson Jr.

A funeral will be Friday, May10, at 3 p.m. at Midway Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Wright officiating. Pallbearers will be Caleb Barton, Kyle Marshall, Josh Neese, Christopher Fleming, Anthony Denney, Justin Cowart, Stuart Cook, Derek Harper, Ben Young, John Massey, Clayton Whittaker, Jonathan Underwood and Matt Cook. Honorary pallbearers will be the Central High School Football Team.

Mr. James Frank Treadwell, 80, of College Street, Whitesburg, Ga., died May 7, 2002 after a brief illness.

Mr. Treadwell grew up in Carroll County. He was born February 22, 1922, son of the late Thomas Vernon Treadwell and Lilla Hinesley Treadwell. He was the owner of Carroll Mills Inc. in Carrollton, Ga. Earlier in his life, he worked for Liberty National Insurance Company and had owned the City Service station in Newnan and later a service station in Whitesburg. He was a member of Cross Plains Baptist Church.

Surviving are nephews, Gary Treadwell, Keith Treadwell and John Treadwell; great nephews, Brian Treadwell, Glynn Treadwell, T. J. Treadwell and Steve Treadwell; sisters-in-law, Bernice Treadwell and Evelyn Sparadlin; aunt, Eunice Burks; several cousins. Also surviving are Wynelle Rumble, president of Carroll Mills, and dedicated office secretaries, Louise Driver and Christie Driver, and other employees both present and former.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, T. V. Treadwell and Glynn Treadwell.

A funeral will be Thursday, May 9, at 4 p.m. at Cross Plains Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Rice and Rev. Jim Henry officiating. Music will be furnished by Ellen McGowen and Tina Johnson.

The family was receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m.

Mr. Couch was born July 13, 1959 in Newnan, Ga. He was employed by Austin Powder as a location manager. He was a member of Line Creek Baptist Church.

Mr. Walter E. Sanders, 73, of Heritage Health Care, Tallahassee, Fla., died May 4, 2002 in Tallahassee.

He was born March 23, 1929 in Decatur County, Ga., son of the late Jacob Nathaniel and Daisy Katherine Blanks Sanders. He had lived most of his life in Decatur Co. He was a member of Climax United Methodist Church in Climax, Ga. He was a retired mail carrier and cabinetmaker and was a member of the Climax Golden Agers and Climax Community Club. He served in the U.S. Navy one year and in the U.S. Army three years.

A funeral was Monday, May 6, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Climax United Methodist Church in Climax, Ga. Burial was in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Climax, Ga. The Rev. Tommy Newberry officiated. Pallbearers were Daryl, Beau and Seth Boyett, Danny Lambert, Bubba Hester and Steve Fewell. Honorary pallbearers were the Men of the Climax United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Linda Louise LeMaster, 73, of Jonesboro, Ga. died Saturday, May 4, 2002 after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. LeMaster was a native of Douglas County. She was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Inez Wright Evans. Mrs. LeMaster was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in College Park.

The family was receiving friends Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home in Fairburn, Ga.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, Fairburn. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. LeMaster was preceded in death by her husband, James B. LeMaster and her son, Robert Wayne LeMaster.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law Karen and Jonathan Slaton of Sharpsburg; grandchildren Robyn O'Melia, David LeMaster and Carol Whitt; 3 great-grandchildren; and her sisters Floy Burford of McDonough, Dorothy Perkins and Carol Evans both of Florida.

Mrs. Evelyn Beadles Cousins
Mrs. Evelyn Beadles Cousins of Newnan, Ga. died Thursday, May 2, 2002 at Newnan Hospital.

Born Dec. 25, 1937, Mrs. Cousins was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sol Beadles. She spent all of her childhood and adult life in Newnan, Ga. where she married Mr. Jessie L. Cousins and had one daughter, Vada.

Mrs. Cousins was a graduate of The Howard Warner High School on Savannah Street in Newnan, Ga. She was a member of The Howard Warner Glee Club and The Tri-Hi-Y Club. She will be remembered as a member and for her service to the Mount Vernon First Baptist Church where she was in the Senior and Gospel Choirs.

Services will be held, Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Vernon First Baptist Church. The eulogist will be Rev. J.T. Coleman. He will be assisted by Rev. J.C. Neal, Evangelist Susie Hudson, Rev. Willie J. Johnson and Rev. Felton James. Interment will be at Eastview Cemetery and the pallbearers will be the class of 1955. Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Cousins' nephews.

Mrs. Cousins was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

Surviving are her daughter Vada Cousins of Newnan; goddaughter Gracie Harvell of Forestville, Maryland; two grandsons Corey and Jarrius of Newnan; sisters Mr. and Mrs. Inman (Minerva) Beadles, Mr. and Mrs. Edward (Helen) Smith of Newnan; brothers Mr. Arthur Beadles of Newnan and Mr. James Beadles of Washington D.C.; five nieces and five nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. She is also survived by a special friend Mrs. Sara T. Grier.

Mrs. Linda Louise LeMaster, 73, of Jonesboro, died Saturday, May 4, 2002 after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. LeMaster was a native of Douglas County. She was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Inez Wright Evans. Mrs. LeMaster was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in College Park.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The funeral for Mr. Frank Wayne Stephens, 80, of Heard County was April 29 at 11 a.m. at the Centralhatchee Independent Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Porter officiating.

Music was by Rita Loftin, Bryan Owensby and the church choir. Burial was in the Elim Church Cemetery in Coweta County.

Mr. Stephens was born in Heard County on June 14, 1921 the son of Joe Hood Stephens and Grace Zeporia Wiggins Stephens. He was a retired lineman for the Carroll EMC and a member of Centralhatchee Independent Methodist Church. After retirement he spent time pursuing his favorite pastime, fishing. He was a jokester and always viewed life with a positive attitude.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel Doris Hyatt Stephens of Centralhatchee; three stepdaughters, Edith Smith and Lucile Harper of Indiana and Debra Combs and her husband Billy; six stepsons and daughters in law, Paul and Cookie Burgess of Indiana, Willard and Viola Burgess of Kentucky, Clifford and Opal Burgess of Michigan, Mike and Barbie Crockett of Centralhatchee, Joel Crockett of Manitou Springs, Colo., and Jerry Crockett and Barbara Hill of Centralhatchee; one brother, Malcolm Stephens of Newnan; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Clarence Burnham, 83, died Friday, May 3, 2002 at his Newnan residence.

Born May 24, 1918, Mr. Burnham was a retired saw operator at Bonnell.

Funeral services will be at McKoon Funeral Home today at 4 p.m., with Reverend Jimmy Henry and Reverend Willard Dean officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be J.C. Davis, Buck Garland, Tom Henry, Jerry Moore, Ralph Nelson and Danny Spencer.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Burnham; two daughters, Angela and Jaime Phillips and Kathy Turner; one brother, Edward and Leola Burnham; three grandchildren, Holly Phillips, Jeremy and Stephanie Turner, and Tyler Turner; one great-grandchild, Zachary Turner.

Vera Llanelle J. Holton
Vera Llanelle J. Holton, 83, of Camilla, died Friday, May 3, 2002, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Camilla United Methodist Church, with burial to be in Oakview Cemetery. Reverend Gene Yelverton will officiate.

Born Sept. 2, 1918, in Wetumpka, Ala., Mrs. Holton was retired Assistant Secretary Treasurer of the local branch of Federal Land Bank of Columbia. She was a member of Camilla United Methodist Church and the Faith Sunday School Class. Mrs. Holton was a past president of Mitchell County High School PTA and served as a Gray Lady Volunteer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James M. Holton Sr., and her parents, John Robert and Lottie Killingsworth Jernigan.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, James M. Holton Jr. and Sandra of Camilla and Robert Clifton Holton and Bronnie of Camilla; a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia Holton Thompson and Jerry of Senoia; three sisters, Sarabeth Auston of Nashville, Carolyn Thompson of Vidalia and Mary Kay Jernigan of Atlanta; five grandchildren and three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Camilla United Methodist Church (Children's Playground Equipment Fund), 39 South Harney St., Camilla, Georgia 31730.

Mr. Wilton 'Boot' Rosser
Mr. Wilton Rosser, 60, died Thursday, May 2, 2002, at the Dogwood Rehabilitation Center in Fairburn.

Funeral services are today from the Walker Temple C.M.E. Church Primrose Community in Greenville, with Reverend James Morton, Reverend E.L. Jimerson and Reverend N. Williams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbears will be nieces and nephews.

The family may be contacted at the home of Mr. Rosser's niece, Mrs. Angela Colton, in Greenville.

Survivors include his wife, Betty C. Rosser of Hogansville; four children, DeAndra Rosser of Hogansville, John Stinson of Greenville, Jeffrey Rosser of Pasagula, MS, and Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Rosser of Decatur; 12 grandchildren, Desmond, DeMia, Deneka, D'Asha, Jamel, Jasmine, Kenya, Kendrick, Janelle, Reginald Jr., Quashawn and Bianca; four sisters, Mrs. Imogene Shelton of Cincinnati, Mrs. Thelma Smith of Atlanta, Ms. Annell Leaks and Ms. Florine Clark, both of Lithonia; two brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Holsie Rosser of Greenville, and Mr. and Mrs. John W. Rosser Jr. of Grantville; nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Mrs. Wilma Judy Walston McCullough
Mrs. Wilma Judy Walston McCullough, 59, of Franklin, Ga., died at her home Sunday, April 29, 2002.

Mrs. McCullough was born in Heard County, Georgia to Mrs. Lera Shelnutt Walston and the late Willie Joe Walston. She was also preceded in death by her husband Johnny McCullough. Mrs. McCullough was a graduate of the Georgia Baptist School of Nursing. She devoted her life to the care and healing of the sick and suffering, none of which were felt more than her final position as nursing supervisor at the West Georgia Hospice. She will be long remembered by those families she comforted and cared for.

A funeral will be Friday, May 3 at 2 p.m. at Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Milton Hall officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Heard County.

Surviving are her mother, Lera Shelnutt Walston of Franklin, Ga.; daughter, Lea Smith of New Milford, N.J.; three sons, Joe Jones and wife Donna of Franklin, Ga., Chris Jones of Green Forest, Ark., and John McCullough of Baconton, Ga.; two sisters, Joy Hyatt and Jenny Freeman, both of Franklin, Ga.; 7 grandchildren; a host of friends.

Mr. George Harold Sisk
Mr. George Harold Sisk, 58, of Willington Way, Newnan, Ga., died Monday, April 30, 2002 at Hospice Atlanta.

Mr. Sisk was born in Memphis, Tennessee, Feb. 22, 1944 to Winford Sisk and Irene Sanders Sisk. He was retired after 32 years of service with Delta Airlines.

Surviving are his wife, Susan Leigh Bauter Sisk of Newnan; children, Amanda Lamb, Adam DeMartini and Jennifer DeMartini, all of Newnan; sister, Mrs. Martha Carol Aldridge, of Mississippi; brother, Raymond Louis Sisk, of Tennessee.

A funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home at Hillcrest Chapel. Dr. Ken Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Adell Hamilton
Mrs. Adell Thrower Hamilton, 88, of Easley, South Carolina and a former resident of Hogansville, died Tuesday, April 30, 2002 at Cannon Memorial Hospital in Pickens, South Carolina.

A funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 2 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Robert Hendon and the Rev. Neil Awbrey will officiate, and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

The family was receiving friends at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Mrs. Hamilton was born September 12, 1913 in Troup County, daughter of the late Tom and Lizzie Dean Thrower. A resident of Easley since 1993, she lived in Lanette, Alabama from 1973 until 1993 and in Hogansville prior to 1973. She was a member of St. James United Mehtodist Church in Hogansville and was the wife of the late Roy Hamilton.

Surviving are daughter Mrs. Joyce Cleveland of Easley; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Ramona Hamilton of Roopville; sister, Mrs. Beatrice Dopp of Hogansville; brother, Tommy Thrower, also of Hogansville; five grandchildren, Kevin Cleveland, Scott Cleveland and Mrs. Kim Petrillo, all of Easley, David Hamilton and Shane Hamilton, both of Carrollton; two great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Hamilton of Carrollton and Wade Cleveland of Opelika, Ala.

Mr. Sonny Strickland, 65, of Hill Street, Newnan, Ga., died April 28, 2002 at Emory Peachtree Regional Hospital.

A funeral will be Friday at noon at Morning Star Baptist Church, 117 Elzie Johnson Road in Sharpsburg, Ga. with remains placed in state at 11 a.m. The Rev. Graham, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery.

Public viewing is Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Wanda Kay Strickland-Sampino of California; Ervin Joe Strickland of Atlanta; sisters, Alberta Grimes, Evelyn Brooks, Atlanta, Dorthy Thomas of Dayton, Ohio, Clara Ann Smith of Newnan; brothers, Thomas Strickland, Billy Strickland of Atlanta, Bobby Strickland of Dayton Ohio and a host of other relatives and friends.

Family and friends are asked to assemble at the residence, 16 Hill St., Newnan, at 11 a.m. on the day of the service.

Mr. Charles Thompson of Tyrone died April 30, 2002.

He was preceded in death by parents, Dewey and Aley Thompson and brother Darriel Thompson in Vietnam.

Surviving are daughters, Cassie Thompson of Gay, Ga. and Kristin Thompson of Tyrone; son, Stephen Forbus, Tyrone; sisters, Elaine Meigs, Grantville, Sandra Hallford, Senoia; brothers, Bill Thompson, Grantville, David Thompson, Dallas, Ga.; grandchildren, Dylan Thompson, Ansley Crankshaw and Chloe Wallace.

A funeral will be Friday, May 3, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. Rev. Ron Whitlock officiating. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park.

Mrs. Carol Louise Sanderford
Mrs. Carol Louise Sanderford, 50, of Newnan, Ga., died Tuesday, April 30, 2002 at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born to Courtney and Helen Smith in Dayton, Ohio, where she grew up and attended school. She loved to travel and in doing so, she lived in Tucson, Arizona and Vicksburg, Mississippi before moving to Newnan. Before her illness prevented her from working, she was employed by Big Kmart in Newnan. She was greatly loved by her family who will remember her as a loving and giving person.

She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Helen Hooks of Manchester, Kentucky; sons, Bryan McKinney of Dayton, Ohio and Tommy McKinney of Vicksburg, Miss.; daughters, Renee Wells of Dayton, Ohio and Rhonda Cox of Jackson, Miss.; seven sisters, Barbara Cox of Hamilton, Ohio; Judy Smith of Greenville, Ga.; Deborah Leach of Vicksburg, Miss.; Gail Turley, Connie Cousins and Glenda Morris, all of Hamilton, Ohio, and Shawn Smith of Newnan; seven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Mrs. Sanderford is preceded in death by a grandson, Rocco Francis Cox.

The family will receive friends at Jones Funeral Home Wednesday, May 1, from 1-2 p.m. Another visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. in Kettering, Ohio at Newcomer-Barclay Funeral Home.

A funeral will be held at Newcomer-Barclay Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Friday, May 3. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
