Mr. James Albert Boone, 62, of Newnan, Ga., died Monday, June 17, 2002 at Newnan Hospital.
He was born in Coweta County April 3, 1940 and was an auto worker for Ford Motor Company. He was retired from Ford and Boone's Grocery Store. He was a gentleman and farmer and was known for raising all kinds of vegetables. He had an exclusive collection of Elvis Presley records.
The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home Tuesday, June 18 from 6-8 p.m.

Mrs. Collins was a housewife. She was born September 26, 1920, to Alta Leona McGill Boyer in Ritchie County, West Virginia. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Newnan.
A funeral was held at Hillcrest Chapel in Newnan Wednesday, June 12 at 2 p.m. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. Family members served as pallbearers.

Mrs. Addie Pearl Justiss Cooper, 84, of Newnan died Saturday at Newnan Hospital.

Born Feb. 10, 1918 in Coweta County, Mrs. Cooper was the daughter of George and Ethel Webb Justiss. She lived in Griffin for 40 years before making her home in Newnan for nine years. She was retired from Spalding Knitting Mill and the Sock Shoppe in Griffin. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church in Barnesville. She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant sons and her husband Ray Cooper.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Mrs. Nell Justiss of Newnan; a niece and nephews, Mrs. Linda Monk of Tyrone, Ronnie Hendrix of Clinton, Tenn., and Robert Stowers and Danny Justiss, both of Newnan; several great-nieces and great nephews.

He was an inactive deacon and member of East Newnan Baptist Church. Mr. Rawlins also served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

He was of the Methodist faith and was active in the Mt. Zion Methodist Church. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 38 and a half years of service.
Surviving are his wife of almost 55 years, Eleanor Johnson Robertson of Decatur, Ga.; two sisters, Marion E. McKoy of Newnan and Helen Payne of Savannah, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jim Wellman officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge, Ga.

Mrs. Frances Vivian Schofield, 81, of Bobo Banks Road, Grantville, Ga., died Wednesday, June 12, 2002 at Starcrest of Newnan nursing home.
She was born May 26, 1921 in Arcadia, Florida (DeSoto County). She was retired from insurance sales work and was also a homemaker. She was a member of the Gordon Road Church of Christ.
The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home Thursday, June 13 from 6-9 p.m.
A funeral will be Friday, June 14, at 2 p.m. Minister Mansell Carpenter will officiate. Burial will be in Pitts Cemetery.

Mr. Lyle Edward Bartlam, 64, of Oneonta, Alabama, died June 6, 2002 at his residence.
He was born in West Virginia to Lyle George Bartlam and the former Minnie Edwards Farrell. He worked as general manager of Cornerstone Poured Walls LLC.

Mrs. Sidney Johnson King was born January 8, 1913 in Lowndes County, Ala. to the late Nathan and Ida Johnson. She moved to the Atlanta area from Cincinnati in the late 1980s to be near her nephew, Bennett Davis and his family. She lived at the Hightower Manor Senior Citizens Facility.
Surviving are a sister, Ms. Lucile Johnson; nephews, Mr. and Mrs. Bennett (Alpha) Davis, Mr. Bennett Johnson and Mr. Reginald Johnson; and a host of great nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Mattie Odell Smith Martin
Mrs. Mattie Odell Smith Martin, 80, of Bearcreek Blvd., Marietta, Ga., died June 1, 2002 at A. G. Rhodes Nursing Home.
A funeral was Friday, June 7 at Hines Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Sandra Battle officiated. Burial was in Chattanooga National Cemetery, Chattanooga, Tenn.
Mrs. Martin was born Dec. 28, 1921 in Shuqualak, Miss. on Dove Hill to the the late Howard D. and Tensie L. Stennis. Mr. and Mrs. Stennis had four daughters: Lillie Mae Cain, Gladys Fennoy, Inis Haynes (John) and Mattie (Robert) Martin. Mrs. Martin joined the Church of the Living God C.W.F.F. in East St. Louis, Illinois, at an early age. After school she worked and taught at the Cora Lena School of Cosmetology and later worked at the East St. Louis Elementary School System until her health started to fail. She met and married James Smith in 1938, and he preceded her in death. They had six children: Delarett Smith Sr., Marion Bell, Valerie A. Webber (James) and three who preceded her in death, Alphonzo, Howard Richard Smith and Surita Murphy. She later married Robert V. Martin Sr. in 1965 and they had two children, Robert V. Martin Jr. (Valerie) and Jacqueline L. Marshall (Roy).
Also, surviving are 18 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson; one daughter-in-law, Mary Green Smith; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Luther Daniel Turner
Mr. Luther Daniel Turner, 71, died Monday, June 10, 2002 at Emory Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan after a lengthy illness.
A native of Fayette County, he was the son of the late Luther Lemuel and Veronie Chapman Turner. Mr. Turner was a member of Miracle Way Baptist Church in Senoia, Ga.
Surviving are wife, Jean W. Turner, Senoia; children, Dianne Turner, Senoia, Dennis Turner and wife Sarah, Grantville, Marie Robertson and husband Greg, Newnan, Lisa McClanahan and husband Glenn, Concord; brothers, Troy Turner, Orchard Hill, and Loy Turner, Griffin; three grandchildren, Dwayne Robertson, Jeff McClanahan and Lori Robertson; one great-grandchild, Kaylee Robertson.
A funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Higgins Funeral Home, Fairburn, Ga. with Rev. Roland Ayers and Rev. Earl Partain officiating. Burial will be in Senoia City Cemetery.

Mr. Clifford Aaron "Buck" Watts
Mr. Clifford Aaron "Buck" Watts, 71, of Banning Road, Whitesburg, Ga., died June 10, 2002 at his residence.
Mr. Watts, a native of Cleburne County, Ala., was born June 11, 1930, son of the late Grady Watts and Lodell Daniel Watts. Mr. Watts was a retired mechanic and was a member of the Banning Church of God. He was also a veteran, having served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Watts is survived by his wife, Hazel Argo Watts of Whitesburg, Ga., daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Ben Pettey, Whitesburg; grandchildren, Amanda and Tara McMillan, Whitesburg; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Dover.
A funeral will be Wednesday, June 12, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Almon Funeral Home, Carrollton, with Rev. Robert Massey and Rev. J. M. "Buck" Jones officiating. Music will be provided by Mrs. Louise Holmes.
The family was receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6-9 p.m.

Mrs. Collins was a housewife. She was born September 26, 1920, to Charles and Alta Russell in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Newnan.
A funeral will be at Hillcrest Chapel in Newnan Wednesday, June 12 at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Harry Thomas Grizzard
Mr. Harry Thomas Grizzard, 73, of Austin Road, Newnan, Ga., died Sunday, June 9, 2002 at Emory Peachtree Regional Hospital.
Mr. Grizzard was born July 7, 1928 in Coweta County to the late Harry and Velma Grizzard. He was a retired insurance salesman, having worked with United Life Insurance Company, and also worked at Sargent Mills. He was a member of Sargent Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Sue Grizzard; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Pam Simpson; daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie Grizzard, Tina and Tony McKoon, Anita and Nathan Ford, Cindy and Howard Shelnutt, Sharon and David Parker, Ann and Jimmy Costlow; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Grizzard and Ferrell and Horace Jones; nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Grizzard; sister, Nell Jones; and grandson, Anthony McKoon.

Mr. Aaron Massey
Former Coweta County Sheriff Aaron Massey, 79, of Newnan, Ga. died Monday, June 10, 2002, at Kinder Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.
He was born November 29, 1922 in Meriwether County, son of the late John Aaron and Lillian Massey. He received his high school education in Meriwether County.
He came to Coweta County as a young man, employed with Banks Brothers General Merchandise for a number of years. During that time he continued his education in business administration.
Mr. Massey joined the Coweta County Police Department in 1959 and served as Chief of the Police Department for ten years. He served five years of that time also as Chief Juvenile and Probation Officer for the Juvenile Court. He was elected as Sheriff of Coweta County and took office January 1, 1969. He retired December 31, 1984, after serving 16 years as Coweta County Sheriff. During his career in police work, Mr. Massey attended many seminars at the University of Georgia, Georgia State College, West Georgia College, Sheriff's Association and the Police Academy.
After Sheriff Massey retired, he was employed with McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan.
He was a veteran of World War II, after serving in the United States Army. He was a member of Grantville Masonic Lodge, the Civitan Club, Board of Directors for the Newnan-Coweta County YMCA, Camp Chairman for Newnan-Coweta County Youth Association, Commissioner of Coweta Boy Scout Council and a member of the Girl Scout Council.
Mr. Massey was a member of Grantville Baptist Church for a number of years where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Training Union Sponsor, R.A. Counselor, taught Sunday School and was ordained a Deacon. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church for 25 years where he served as a Deacon. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Captain of the Usher Committee and Assistant Treasurer of the church.
He was married to Hazel Virginia Massey, who preceded him in death.
Surviving Mr. Massey are his wife Freda W. Massey of Newnan; daughters, Mrs. Brenda Floyd and husband Richard of Newnan, Kathy Rush and husband Larry of Stone Mountain, Ga.; son, George Aaron Massey Jr. and wife Debbie of Newnan; stepdaughters, Karan Rawlins of Arlington, Texas, Renee Rawlins of Hogansville, Ga.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Christine Todd of Chamblee, Ga., and Elaine Williams of Tucker, Ga.; brother, W. B. Massey of Grantville, Ga.
A funeral will be Wednesday, June 12 at 2 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church.
Visitation is at McKoon Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6-9 p.m.
