entered into rest in Thomasville, Ga., on Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004.
Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004 at the DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Dixon officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens.
Mr. DeLoach was an honor graduate from Edmund Burke Academy and Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College, Tifton. He was employed by Mill Pond Plantation in Thomasville.
He is survived by his two daughters, Meghan Michelle DeLoach and Morgan Marie DeLoach, Thomasville; his parents, Fred and Belinda Barrett DeLoach, and sister Aubrey Amanda DeLoach, all of Waynesboro; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Barrett of Albany; uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Barrett of Leesburg, Va.
Pallbearers will be Stafford Vickrey, Sheldon Taylor, Eddie Taylor Sr., Shorty Edenfield, William McNeely and Buddy Wren. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 1, at the DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel.

Adam Keith Redd, 16,
of Hephzibah died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, at Miracle Baptist Church with the Revs. Darien Spivey, John Bartlett and Joey Grizzle officiating.
Redd was a student at Hephzibah High School and a member of Miracle Baptist Church and the Waynesboro Boxing Club. Survivors include his mother, Shayna Redd of Hephzibah; his father, Keith Redd of Waynesboro; one sister, Ashley Redd, and two brothers, Austin Redd and Hunter Taylor, all of Hephzibah; and a stepbrother, Gary Flakes Jr. of Waynesboro. Other survivors are his maternal grandparents, Sarah Eskew of Hephzibah and David Usry of Augusta; and paternal grandparents, James and Wilma Quick of Waynesboro.
Active pallbearers were Shane Prickett, “Lil” Greg James, “Lil” Greg Baker, Chris Felton, Chris Redd, Mitchell Kersey, Jody Jackson and “Lil” Lonnie Baxley. Honorary pallbearers were uncles, Christropher “Fonz” Quick, Steven “Mootsie” Quick, Troy Redd, Mark Quick, Bruce Redd and David Redd; and aunt, Wanda Michelle Quick; and Miracle Baptist Church Youth Group.
Funeral services for Mr. James S. Scott of Sardis
will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004 at True Church of God in Christ with the Elder Marvin Jones officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Kenya Holmes Givens, 18,
of Waynesboro died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004.
Services were held 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Fryer officiating and the Rev. Lavonia Payton presiding. Internment followed at Mt. Zion C.M.E. Mrs. Givens was a 2004 graduate of Burke County High School.
She was baptized on July 15, 1993 by the late Rev. Walter Jones and joined Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church. Survivors include her husband, Mario N. Givens; mother, Annie Jo Holmes; father and stepmother, Elbert and Nicole Harris; stepfather, Simon Powell; mother- and father-in-law, John and Sarah P. Givens; grandparents, Annie M. Holmes, Charlie and Barbara Ivey, Doris Dukes and Leroy Rhaney; a sister, Sherika Holmes; a brother, Lamont (Demetria) Mobley; step-siblings, Paul Tolbert, Larry, Keith and Wanda Powell; godparents, Wayne (Dorothy) Harris and Carrie Harris; sisters-in-law, Demerital (David) McNeal and Johndra Hughes; brothers-in-law, Jonathan Hughes and Jermaine Givens; 19 aunts; 12 uncles; and many relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers were DeAndre Davis, Laron Gilbert, Cordell Harris, Charles Jordon, Ronnie Jordon, Patrick Nelson, Broderick Proctor and Shilo Robinson.
Floral bearers were the Burke County High School Class of 2004 and community ushers.
Services for Mrs. Estelle B. Palmer
of Soperton were held 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, at Faith Baptist Church with the Revs. Nolon McDaniel, Glenn Waters and Donny Crosby officiating. Burial was in Westview Cemetery. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, J.B. “Whitt” Palmer; two daughters, Peggy (Harold) Cox of Soperton and Joyce Palmer of Vidalia; two sons, George (Helen) Palmer of Waynesboro and Charles (Faye) Palmer of Rockledge; sisters, Elsie Brantley, Anne Goff and Edith Sweat; sister-in-law, Kathleen Brantley; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Lillian Heath Dixon, 77,
entered into rest Monday, Sept. 13, 2004 at the residence of her daughter in Grovetown. Mrs. Dixon was born in New Boston, N.H., on Sept. 22, 1926 and came to the Waynesboro area in December 1945. She was a telephone operator in New Hampshire and in Sardis. She was a businesswoman and a self-employed farmer. Mrs. Dixon retired as a LPN from Gracewood State School and Hospital after 17 years. She was a member of the Botsford Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Botsford Baptist Church with the Revs. Wayne and David Dixon officiating. Mrs. Dixon will lie in state one hour before the service. Interment will follow in the Burke Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Dixon is survived by her daughter Lois Dixon Mora, Grovetown; and three sons, Wayne Rayford Dixon, Carl Roy (Shorty) Dixon and David Doyle Dixon all of Waynesboro. She is also survived by a sister, Nancy Rogers of Maryland; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Helen Reid Clark, 84,
of Thomaston died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, with the Rev. John Barnes officiating. Burial was in Louisville City Cemetery. Mrs. Clark, born April 19, 1920 in Homerville, was the third daughter of the late Robert Drew Reid and Kansas Peagler Reid. On Nov. 21, 1940 she married James William Clark Jr. of Louisville who preceded her in death in 1990.
Mr. and Mrs. Clark lived most of their 50 years together in Waynesboro where Mrs. Clark was active in the First Methodist Church. She served as superintendent of the primary Sunday School department for approximately 12 years and was president of the Women’s Service Guild for several years.
While in Waynesboro, Mrs. Clark was also a member of the Waynesboro Country Club and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. In 1991 Mrs. Clark moved to Thomaston to be near her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Winton (Helen) McDaniel and her granddaughter, Jane M. McMahon (Janie). While in Thomaston Mrs. Clark was active in the First United Methodist Church where she loved her Sunday School class, the service class and the United Methodist Women.
Mrs. Clark will be remembered for her love for her church, family and friends. She was truly a “people person” interested in everyone she met. Survivors include her daughter and son, Mrs. Helen Clark McDaniel (Charles Winton) of Thomaston and Mr. William Gould Bacon (Sara M.) of Loganville; her sister, Mrs. W.H. (Marion) McCommons of Greensboro; her grandchildren, Mrs. Jane M. McMahon of Marietta, Mr. John Reid Bacon of Loganville and Mr. William G. Bacon III of Denver, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Meagan Reid McMahon, Samantha R. Bacon, Kathryn Rene Bacon and Georgia M. Bacon; and her great-great-granddaughter, Bailey. Mr. Frank Hackel
Mr. Frank Hackel of Highway 80 died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 at University Hospital in Augusta. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at McKinney Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. L.E. Jones officiating. Interment in be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hackel was a resident of Burke County. He was a deacon of McKinney Branch Baptist Church, where he was deacon advisor and Sunday School advisor.
He worked for Ford Motor Company in Detroit, Mich., for 32 years until he retired.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Maggie Mae Devoe and Walker Devoe of Waynesboro; two nephews, John Hackle of Concinntti and Henry Hackle of Lompoc, Cali.; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. Raymond Ernest Brown Sr., 66,
entered into rest Friday, Sept. 17, 2004 at Burke Medical Center.
Visitation for Mr. Brown was held in the First United Methodist Church Social Hall from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, with the service immediately following in the Sanctuary at 2 p.m.
The Rev. Mark Singletary officiated. A graveside service was held 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Madison, Fla Mr. Brown managed Mundy’s Gin in Waynesboro from 1970 to 2003. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher and was on the board of administration. He was a former Jaycee’s President. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Marjorie Barber Brown of Waynesboro; a daughter, Tracy B. Allmond and husband, Royce, of Madison Fla.; and a son, Raymond Ernest “Ernie” Brown Jr. and wife, Sally, of Hickory, N.C.
Pallbearers were Manton Horton Jr., Bob Bolton, Bill Hargrove, Gene Redd, Wendell Barefield, John Mundy, George DeLoach and Charlie Waters. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Brinson-Coleman Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Vivian Chew Johnson, 91,
entered into rest on Friday, Sept. 17, 2004. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at the Thomas Poteet and Son Chapel.The Rev. Bryan Matthews, pastor of New Life Christian Center, officiated. Mrs. Johnson was retired from MCG as head of the formula room in the Dietary Department and a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, where she was a member of Faith Bible Class. The family said, “She will be remembered as a loving and giving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who thought of her family first.”
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, J. Burke Johnson.
Family members include her daughter, Nona Johnson Zimmerman and her husband, Leonard Sr., of Augusta; a son, Dr. Jimpsey B. Johnson Jr. and his wife, Deborah, of Augusta; five grandchildren, Charmain Z. Brackett and her husband, Bret, of Augusta, Leonard P. Zimmerman Jr. of Atlanta, Burke Johnson and his wife, Rhonda, of Martinez, Phil Johnson and his wife, Lena, of Villa Rica and Jenna L. Johnson of Augusta; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Landrum Chew of High Springs, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Leonard Zimmerman Sr., John B.
