Mrs. Joyce Yvonne Scott Ogletree was born Feb. 4, 1950 in Birmingham, Ala. to Mr. and Mrs. Willie and Mattie Scott.
She was educated in the Birmingham City School System. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Tuskegee University and her Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration from the College of Saint Frances. She was the Assistant Administrator at Newnan Hospital for 17 years. Most recently she worked as Implementation Specialist for Biositc Corporation.
A funeral will be Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 3 p.m. at Newnan Chapel United Methodist Church in Newnan, Ga. with the remains placed in state at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Moses Woodruff, pastor, the Rev. James Myers, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Hulon Kemp and the Rev. Milton Hurst. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery in Newnan.
Pallbearers will be C. C. Bridges, Leon Johnson, W. J. Allen, Alvin White, Bobby Teagle, J. W. Kirkland. Flower ladies will be cousins, friends and classmates.
Surviving are husband, Charles Stanley Ogletree; children, Charles Stanley Jr., Kimberly Ann; mother Mattie H. Scott; sister, Andria Scott Hurst; mother-in-law, Emma Ogletree; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Virginia Lynch Schlicker, 75, died Saturday, August 3, 2002 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center in Newnan following an extended illness.
A native of Troup County, Ga., she was born May 29, 1927, daughter of the late Jesse Carl and Ola Dell Hanner Lynch. She was the wife of the late James Reginald Schlicker.
Surviving are son, James Carl Schlicker and his wife Martha of Sharpsburg, Ga.; grandchildren Bo Cobb, Jennifer Slaker, Scott Schlicker and Stephanie Schlicker; and great-grandchild Cameron Cobb.

Mrs. Mary Ruth Warren, 87, of Redwood Circle in Newnan, died Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at Beaulieu Convalescent Center.
Born June 5, 1915, in McNair County, Tenn., Mrs. Warren was a homemaker and a member of Downtown Church of Christ.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at McKoon Funeral Home, with David Ferneyhough officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be today between 7 pm. and 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Finch was born March 30, 1913 in Heard County, daughter of the late Levi Oscal Hyatt and the late Martha Neighbors Hyatt. She had lived in Hogansville since 1930 and was retired from Uniroyal Inc. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Hogansville and was the wife of the late Walter Richard "Dick" Finch.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Henrietta and Jimmy Freeman of Hogansville; two grandsons, Richard Freeman and Tim Freeman, both of Hogansville; and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Clyde F. Phillips Sr., 84, of Cranford Street, Palmetto, Ga., died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002 at Newnan Hospital.
Mr. Phillips was born November 5, 1917 in Heflin, Alabama. He was a retired printer. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army tank division under Gen. Patton's leadership. He went into Germany on "D" Day. He received the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Beulah Hicks Phillips and a son, Clyde F. Phillips Jr.

A funeral service will be held for Mr. Dalvine Arnold, of Newnan, on Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at 1 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church. Reverend H.H. Dyer will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Born Nov. 25, 1926, in Newnan, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Arnold, Mr. Arnold received Christ at a very young age and became a member of The St. John Baptist Church. He was a dedicated worker until his retirement from HiBrand Food Company after 19 years of service.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Kim Long of Franklin, and Keith and Janice Long of Hogansville; two sisters, Mrs. Annette Oakes and Mrs. Jennelle Holmes, both of LaGrange; three grandchildren, Mrs. Jaffnie DeFriese of LaGrange, Mrs Keri Barrett of Newnan, and Jeff Long of Hogansville; and three great-grandchildren, Jacee Long of Hogansville, Justin Long and Hunter Barrett, both of Newnan.

Edith Askew Johnson, of 2255 Fredrica Rd. in St. Simons, Ga., died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002.
Born June 23, 1922, in Roanoke, Ala., Ms. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Johnson Jr. She was a member of the Jekyll Island United Methodist Church, and was also a member of the Jekyll Island Arts Association.
A graveside service will be held Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at 4 p.m. at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan. Family and friends will assemble at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel at 3 p.m. Monday before going to the cemetery for the service.

Mrs. Wynne Strickland Williams, 78, of North Miami Beach, died Sunday, July 28, 2002.
She was born June 13, 1924 to John Floyd and Sara Sims Strickland. During the time of World War II she sought employment in the defense industry in the shipyards. It was at this time that she met her husband, William "Bill" Williams, to whom she was married for more than 40 years and who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents, her sister, Mildred, also preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children, Cheryl Snyder of Tamarac, FL; sons Ken Williams of Miami, Terry Williams of Altamonte Springs; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Julius "J. V." Mrs. Virginia Rainwater Minix Moran
Mrs. Virginia Rainwater Minix Moran died Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at Newnan Hospital following an extended illness.
She was born December 1, 1923 to the late Mrele and Bessie Irene Logan Rainwater. She was a long time member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving are her children, Pat Moody and her husband Leroy of Dallas, Georgia, June Long of Newnan, Melvin Minix and his wife Linda of Sharpsburg, and Glenn MInix of Senoia; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary R. Copsey of Mechanicsville, Maryland; half-sister, Jeanette H. Kelly of Palmetto and half-brothers, Delvus Rainwater of Cleveland, Ga. and Henry Jarrell of Griffin, Ga.
A funeral will be Friday, Aug. 2 at 2 p.m. at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Glenn Minix, Rev. Dwight L. Moody and Rev. David Ramey officiating.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Copsey, William Minix, Jimmy Minix, Tony Sprayberry, Michael Sprayberry and Tim Hammett. Burial will be in the church cemetery beside the father of her children, Ellis Minix.

Mrs. Laura S. Taylor of Brooklyn, N.Y., formerly of Newnan, died July 28, 2002.
She was the baby of six children born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Selvin L. Smith Sr.
At an early age Mrs. Taylor dedicated her life to Christ, and joined the Morning Star Baptist Church. In 1988 she moved to Brooklyn, NY where she became a home health care provider.
A funeral will be Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002 at 1 p.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church, McCollum. The Rev. Dana Graham will officiate. Burial will be in the Hill family cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Stegall, James Murry, Emmett Beasley, Ricky Stegall and Pete Smith.

Mrs. Virginia Minix Moran, of Sharpsburg, Ga., died Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at Newnan Hospital.

Mrs. Patsy Elizabeth Steele
Mrs. Patsy Elizabeth Steele, 73, died at LaGrange Hospice Center in LaGrange, Ga. Tuesday, July 30, 2002 after an extended illness.
Mrs. Steele was born in Coweta County in 1928 to Lonnie and Sally Mae Thrower. Mrs. Steele lived in Newnan all her life and although she considered herself a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker first, she worked for B. H. Douglass Aluminum Foundry for more than 20 years before her retirement. She loved gospel music, collecting porcelain dolls, figurines of Noah's Ark, and growing flowers in her garden.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Mr. Willie Theo Steele; son, William Larry Steele; and both of her parents.
Surviving are three daughters, Brenda Darlene Banks, Sylvia Ann White, and Dorothy Elaine Bearden, all of Newnan, Ga.; brother, J. L. Thrower of Wilmington, North Carolina; two sisters, Eleanor Pyle of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and Priscilla Helton of Newnan, Ga.; ten grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends.
The family will receive friends at Jones Funeral Home 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 31.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1 with Pastor Terry Calhoun officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Newnan.
