A funeral service for Mrs. Gladys Ruanett Parker was held Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home, with the Reverends Rich Pike and Charles Chapman officiating.
Music was provided by Jessica Johnson, Beth Cantrell, and Leesa Stutts Cothran.
Pallbearers were Clyde H. Avery, Everett Bennett Jr., Jimmy A. Jones, Steve G. Cantrell, Bruce Hopson and Randy Walston. Interment followed in the Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Mashburn was born in Randolph County, Ala. on July 2, 1925 to the late Clyde Parker and Ella Mae Nix Parker. She passed away at her home in Franklin on Sept. 16, 2002. Mrs. Mashburn was a loving wife and mother of seven boys.
Survivors include seven sons and daughter-in-laws, Butch and Jeanett Mashburn of Franklin, Stanley and Kay Mashburn of Newnan, Jerry and Tammy Mashburn of Franklin, Terry and Michelle Masburn of Newnan, CLyde and Kristie Mashburn of Salem, Ala., Danny Mashburn of Decatur and Billy Mashburn of Franklin; four sisters, Louise Tubbs, Jean Whatley and Wynell Histerly of Cullman, Ala., and Susie Beanett of Cumming; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Robert William "Bill" Amis, 84, of Newnan, Ga., died Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at Newnan Hospital.
Mr. Amis was born May 2, 1918 in Newnan. He was retired and had worked as a foreman for Delta Airlines in hydraulic maintenance. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a master sergeant. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Newnan, the Voice of Experience Choir and of Kiwanis.
The family was receiving friends Thursday, Sept. 19 from 7-9 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home.
A funeral will be at First Baptist Church of Newnan Friday, Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. Dr. Gene Tyre and Rev. Don Helms will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Roscoe Road, Newnan.
Pallbearers will be men from the Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Fay Smith Bray, 89, of Third Street Ext., Manchester, Ga., in Meriwether County, died Monday, September 16, 2002 at her residence.
She was born October 18, 1912 in Coweta County to Otis E. Smith and Fannie Haney Smith. She was a homemaker and member of Manchester First Baptist Church.
A funeral was at Manchester First Baptist Church Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 4 p.m. with Rev. Malcolm Davis officiating, assisted by Rev. Craig Williamson. Burial was in Manchester City Cemetery.

Vanessa Stanley Dollar, daughter of Mrs. Linda Ann Stanley Seabrook and Mr. Harry Stanley, was born August 3, 1971 in Coweta County. She was the oldest daughter among five children born to the Stanleys. She attended the Fulton County Public School System. She joined and was baptized at the St. John Baptist Church by Rev. W. J. Clark at an early age. She later was a member at the Greater New Life Baptist Church. She was married to Wesley Dollar. She was a faithful, caring and loving mother to her five daughters during her illness.

Mrs. Eleanor Frances Tunley, 67, of Newnan, Ga., died Wednesday, September 18, 2002 in Newnan.
She was born August 18, 1935 in Topeka, KS to the late Oris F. Tunley Sr. and the late Irene F. Harrison Tunley.
Mrs. Tunley moved from Topeka to Newnan in 1995. She was a member of Fountain of Faith Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed participating and contributing to the Church Street Ministry. She was also a proud sponsor of a child adopted through the Christian Children's Fund. Getting a letter or picture from the child she sponsored brought many smiles and feelings of joy. She was employed as a staff assistant at the Peachtree City Building Department - Developmental Service Division.
Surviving are daughter, Rochelle Pleasant and husband James Pleasant of Newnan; grandchild Denise Pleasant, Newnan; brother, Oris F. Tunley Jr. of Topeka, Kansas; sisters, Bettye Jean Murrell, Clovis, New Mexico, Dolores Terrell, El Cajon, CA, Patricia Tunley, Topeka, KS.

Mrs. Elizabeth "Nanny" Walker Cloud was born August 11, 1900 in Coweta County to Estell Farmer and Joe Ector. She was the wife of the late Mr. Arthur "Shorty" Cloud. At an early age she joined Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Church and later in life became a member of the New Macedonia Baptist Church where she was a faithful and active worker.
Nanny loved people, and people loved Nanny. This is evident with all the lives she touched.

Mr. Charles Alexander Connally
Mr. Charles Alexander Connally, 83, died Tuesday, September 17, 2002, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Alexander Connally Jr.
Surviving is his wife of 47 years, Rosa Wilbur Connally; daughter, Sally Love Connally Lienau; son-in-law, Alan K. Lienau; grandchildren, Nathan and Megan Lienau.
Mr. Connally served in the Army during World War II from 1941 to 1945 in North Africa and Europe. After leaving the service he came to Newnan in 1950, purchased Cates Drug Store and operated it as Connally Rexall Drug Store for 36 years.
Always active in the community, Mr. Connally was a lifetime member of the Newnan Kiwanis Club where he served as a director and chaired numerous committees. He also served on the Newnan City Council for several years and was an active member of Newnan First United Methodist Church.

She joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Coweta County at an early age and was a faithful member until her health declined. She attended Walter B. Hill School where she excelled in her academic studies. She also worked in and around the Newnan area.
She met and married the late Mr. Charlie Lewis Darden and they had thirteen children, six of whom preceded her in death.

Mrs. Agnes Cornelia Oberstaedt, 87, formerly of Brighton, Michigan, died in Atlanta, Ga., September 13, 2002 after a long illness.
Mrs. Oberstaedt was born in Ocala, Florida Feb. 20, 1915. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, and two sons, Thomas and Robert.
Surviving are her son, Kenneth and his wife Billie of Brighton, their children Kenneth Jr. of Whitmore Lake, Douglas of Pinckney, Rhonda of Windsor, Canada, Thomas of Brighton and James of Whitmore Lake; and her daughter, Lynda Baldauf of Newnan, Ga. and Lyndia's daughters Lisa and Vicky of Newnan, Ga. Mr. Charlie Reagan, 74, died at his Fayetteville, Ga. residence Tuesday, September 17, 2002.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a retired equipment specialist general for the Federal Government.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Juanita Reagan of Fayetteville; daughter, Theresa and Bruce Bibee of Palmetto; son, Brian and Myrna Reagan of Tyrone; brother, George and Emery Nell Reagan of Newnan; sister, Sara and J. Mrs. Mattie Thrasher Rhodes, 102, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002 at Christian City Convalescent Center in Union City.
Born June 17, 1899 in Brooks County, Ga., Mrs. Rhodes was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Melvin Rhodes, and her son, Travis Melvin Rhodes.

Mr. Clifton Lee White, 82, of 58 Berry Avenue, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002 at Newnan Hospital.
Born March 29, 1920 in Paulding County, Mr. White was a retired Circuit Tender for Prestolite Battery Company and was a member of Pentecostal Family Center. His parents, Olen and Eva White, preceded him in death.
He was a veteran of World War II, where he received the Meritorious Unit Award, the Good Conduct Medal AR 600-68, World War II Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, and the American Service Medal.
A funeral service will be held today a 3 p.m. at the chapel of Higgins at Hillcrest Chapel, with Reverend Joe Strickland officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Perkins was a retired station manager from Eastern Air Lines, and worked in Atlanta, Charlotte, Orlando, Miami and retired in West Palm Beach. He served in the U.S. Army and earned the bronze star while serving in China.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Betty Perkins of Palmetto; daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Steve and Lynn Houston, Newnan; sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell and Susan Perkins, Atlanta; Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Cindy Perkins, Sharpsburg; sister, Mrs. Hilda Howard, Griffin; Mrs. Edna Raven, Concord; eight grandchildren.
A funeral was Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. Rev. Tom Rowe officiated. Burial was at 4 p.m. at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery in Griffin, Ga.

Mrs. Evelyn K. Helton, 80, died Friday, September 6, 2002.
Born in Carroll County Feb. 8, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Silas Harper. She was preceded in death by her children, Jerry C. Helton and Blondell Hammond; two brothers, William Buren Harper and L.G. Harper; and her husband, Millard Lee Helton.
She was retired from Playtex. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church.
A funeral service was Sunday, Sept. 8 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, with Pastor Danny Wilson officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Mr. Floyd Winston "Bud" Jones, 92, formerly of Sargent, Ga., died September 11, 2002 at Starcrest Nursing Home in Newnan, Ga.
He was born January 18, 1910, in Carroll County. He was a retired textile workder with the Bibb Company. He was head loom fixer and supervisor. He was a member of Antioch Primative Baptist Church where he was an elder minister. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Marzell Herrin Jones; and a brother, H. C. Jones.

Mrs. Judy Ann Staton Price, 52, of Tapley Road, Villa Rica, Ga., died Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at Douglas Hospital following an extended illness.
Mrs. Price was born July 26, 1950 in Cobb County, Ga., daughter of the late Dillard H. Staton and Mrs. Rosie Irene Spivey Staton. She was employed by American Suzuki and was a member of Happy Valley Baptist Church in Villa Rica.
In additon to her father she was preceded in death by her sister, Adale Staton and an infant brother.
Surviving are her husband, Ray Edward Price, and daughter, Terri Williams, both of Villa Rica; sons, Kenneth Overton of Newnan and Chris Price of Marietta; mother, Rosie Irene Staton of VIlla Rica; brothers, Elgin Staton, Lonnie Staton, Larry Staton, David Staton and Gary Staton, all of Villa Rica; five grandchildren, Casey Adam Crosby of Villa Rica, Kelsey Hammond Fleming, Kenneth Jackson Overton, Sydney Skye Overton and Caitlyn Hope Overton, all of Newnan.

Juanita was born May 24, 1948 to Willie "Tang" Smith and Mrs. Ruby Elliot Canady. She died Saturday, August, 31, 2002 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Juanita attended Coweta County Schools and was employed at Crain Industries, Newnan, Georgia, for several years. She was a faithful member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church. She was a child of God and she gave her life to Christ at an early age. Juanita was a member of the United Methodist Women Organization and participated in other church activities. She was also a member of the Women of Action 2000 social club and served as vice-president. Juanita was the widow of Mr. Horace L. Bailey.

Funeral services for Mr. Vernon Ray Yates, 72, of Franklin, Georgia, were conducted Monday, September 9, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home with the Reverend Olin McClain officiating.
Music was provided by Leesa Cothran. Serving as pallbearers were memers of the Centralhatchee Masonic Lodge #403.
After the traditional service, Masonic rites were performed. Burial was in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Yates was born in DeKalb County, Alabama on April 24, 1930 to the late William David Yates and Annie Mae Gibbs Yates. He was a member of the Goldridge Baptist Church and the Cantralhatchee Masonic Lodge #403. He was retired from the Franklin Aluminum Company where he was a Guide Repairman. In later years he had been employed by Heard Couonty as a Transit Authority bus driver. He was very special to the many elderly people he transported. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his wife, Marjorie Elizabeth Powell Yates of Franklin, Ga.; two sons, Tommy Yates of Carrollton, Ga., and Donny Yates of Shelby, Mich.; four sisters, Syble Richardson of Ranburn, Ala., Reba McClain of LaGrange, Ga., Dena Clay of Gadsden, Ala., and Kate Blair of Five Points, Ala.; four brothers, Alvie Yates of Port Lucy, Fla., W.
