Mr. Joe Henry Hardaway, 61, of Charlie Fuller Road, Grantville, Ga., died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002 at his home.

A funeral will be Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 1:30 p.m. at the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Luthersville, Ga. The Rev. Lee Jimerson will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Lewis Eugene Lenderman, 78, of Palmetto, Ga., died Sunday, November 17, 2002 at Newnan Hospital.

Mr. Lenderman was born September 27, 1924 in Carroll County, Ga. He was retired from Ford Motor Company.

The family was receiving friends Monday, Nov. 18 from 5-7 p.m.

A funeral will be Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 2:30 p.m.

Mrs. Nellie Mobley of Palmetto died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002.

Born Dec. 26, 1913 to Will and Lou Wade in Old Campbell County, Ga., Mrs. Mobley worked for many years at the Palmetto cotton mill.

A funeral service will be Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home at Hillcrest Chapel, with Brother Cook and Brother Singleton officiating. Interment will be in the Palmetto City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home at Hillcrest Chapel.

Survivors include two sons; William and Sherry Mobley of Shreveport, La., and Bobby and Beverly Mobley of Fayetteville; a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Wheeler of Palmetto; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren.

Mr. Beck was born March 11, 1937 in Los Angeles, California. He was retired from the Army.

A memorial service was planned for Saturday Nov. 16 at his residence.

Surviving are his wife, Annette Beck of Fayetteville; son, John Elliott of Marietta, Ga.; and brother, James Beck of Stockton, CA.

Mrs. Madge Thomas Driver, 93, died Thursday November 14, 2002 at Wesley Woods Plaza in Coweta County.

She was born January 21, 1909 in Coweta County, Ga. to the late William Nathan Thomas and the late Alice Ethel Gentry. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thelbert Driver. She was retired from Sears and was also a homemaker. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

The family was receiving friends Friday, Nov. 15 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

A funeral will be in the McKoon Funeral Home chapel Saturday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. Dr. Bobby Helton and Rev. Searcy Jackson will officiate.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan. Pallbearers will be Charles Dial, Bill Jackson, Wayne Edgeworth, Lee Hunter, Harold Kee and Marty Webb.

Retired Chief Warrant Officer Gerald "Jerry" M. Lamb
Retired Chief Warrant Officer (CWO3, Supply Corps) Gerald "Jerry" M. Lamb, 74, of Gulfport, MS, died Monday, November 11, 2002 at Keesler AFB Medical center.

He was born April 29, 1928 in Moreland, Ga. He served with distinction in the U.S. Navy for more than 25 years with many sea duty billets, including tours on the USS Midway, USS Stalwart, USS Laning (APD-55), USS Detector, USS Forrestal (CVA-59). He retired August 27, 1969 at the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Center, Gulfport, MS, where the Admiral retained him to assist in the aftermath of Hurricane Camille as Assistant Supply Officer.

He was a member of the Retired Officers Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the First United Methodist Church in Moreland, Ga. He was an avid gardener, a sportsman, and a dog trainer who raised prize beagles. He was loved and admired by all his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emma Gertrude Chaffin Lamb and Daniel Martin Lamb; his favorite uncle and mentor, Floyd Chaffin; and two brothers, Robert Donald Lamb and Richard E. Lamb.

Surviving are his wife, Odessa Lee Lamb of Gulfport; two daughters, Carolyn Jean James and her husband, John of Gulfport and Cynthia Lee Olivier and her husband Gerald of Lancombe, LA; two sisters, Shirley Elrod and her husband Harold of Moreland, GA and Ellene Pool and her husband Gleason L. of Wedowee, AL; two granddaughters, Kelly Rene Stockert and her husband, Jeffrey and Denise Johnel James, both of Gulfport; a grandson, Connor Lee Olivier of Lacombe, LA; a great-granddaughter, Amber Rene Stockert; nieces, Cheryl Pool, Marlena Pool and Patricia Elrod; and nephews, Gary Lamb, Ronald Lamb, Dale Lamb, Randy Pool, Clyde Elrod, Danny Elrod, Bruce Elrod and Rex Elrod.

A funeral was at noon Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home chapel in Gulfport. A private graveside service with military honors was planned.

A funeral for Master Mason Lane McMillan, stillborn son of Jesica Hopson Wheat and Christopher McMillan, will be Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at 2 p.m. at graveside in Ephesus Cemetery.

Mrs. Shirley Windsor Roe, 67, of Newnan, died November 12, 2002 at Newnan Hospital.

A native of Iowa, she was born May 23, 1935 to Justin Hayden Howard and Mona Ann Jones Windsor. A member of Central Baptist Church of Newnan, she was active in the Myrtle Arnall Mann Sunday School Class and had been involved in the Feeding Our Friends program. The Pink Lady volunteer program at Newnan Hospital benefited from her vivacious personality and sense of humor. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved and was loved by everyone she met. She had a wonderful gift of hospitality, and loved to entertain. She was able to walk into a room and make everyone immediately feel comfortable. Quick to laugh or give a hug, she had a zeal for life. Ever ready for a game of bridge, she more often won than lost, and, all the time, carrying on a lively conversation and serving her guests' needs. Most of all, Shirley loved God; loved her husband and her family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, William J. "Bill" Roe of Newnan; daughter, Pam Ries of Packwood, Iowa; sons, Steve Roe of Marietta and Scott Roe of Alpharetta; sister, Rosemary Mathews of Grinnell, Iowa; brother, William "Bill" Windsor of Columbus, Kansas; eight grandchildren.

A funeral was Friday, Nov. 15 at 11 a.m. at Central Baptist Church of Newnan, 14 West Broad Street. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

A funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Coweta County.

Mrs. Kirkland was born April 9, 1912 in Lee County, Alabama, daughter of the late Bunion and Mattie Thomas Dolar. Before making her home in Kennesaw, she lived in LaGrange most of her life and was a member of the Holiness church.

Surviving are her husband, Curtis Kirkland; daughter, Mildred I. Gable of Kennesaw; son, Bobby Ray Reese of Hogansville; sister, Pauline Rodgers of Opelika, Alabama; two brothers, Lloyd Dolar and Raymond Dolar, both of Mims, Florida; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four children, Louise Gable, Clara Smith, an infant daughter, and an infant son.

Mr. A. A. "Curley" Arrington Sr. of Moreland, Ga. died November 12, 2002.

Mr. Arrington was retired from the City of Atlanta after 33 years of service.

He was peceded in death by his wife, Gail Arrington.

Surviving are son, Mr. A A. "Bo" Arrington Jr. of Moreland; sisters, Ann Smith, McDonough; Sara Stewart, Jacksonville, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Barbara Harris of Moreland; Patti Fricke of College Park, and Dorothy Arrington of LaGrange.

A funeral will be Friday, Nov. 15 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Yates will officiate. Burial will be in Sharon Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Jane Bernadette Cleveland Branan, 49, of Milledgeville died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at her residence.

Mrs. Branan was born in Colquitt, daughter of the late N. B. Cleveland and the late Cessie Lee Gordon Cleveland. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mrs. Branan was also a member of The American Dietetic Association. She was retired from Central State Hospital in Milledgeville as a registered dietician.

The funeral service was held Nov. 9, at at the Church of Latter Day Saints in Milledgeville with the Rev. Hugh Burke officiating. Burial was held Nov. 10 in Gordon Cemetery in Colquitt.

Survivors include her husband, Mike Branan of Milledgeville; son, Michael Branan of Miledgeville; daughters, Lee Nichols of Covington, Crystal Branan of Milledgeville; brothers, Zack Cleveland and L.N. Cleveland both of Colquitt; sisters, Joye Lott and Ocialene Cook, both of Colquitt; niece, Lisa Skinner of Moreland;and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Leola Nalls Greene died Sunday, November 10, 2002 at her residence.

A funeral will be Thursday, Nov. 14 at noon at Greater Jehovah Baptist Church in Grantville, Ga. The Rev. Billy Glanton, pastor, will officiate with Rev. Hulon Kemp, eulogist. Burial will be in Grantville City Cemetery. Pallbearers and flower ladies will be relatives of the family.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. On the day of the service the cortege will assemble at 56 Colley St. at 11 a.m.

Mrs. Greene was born April 6, 1923 in Coweta County to late Mrs. Mattie Pace Nalls and Mr. Isaiah Nalls.

She was a sweet lady, and was a special woman who loved everyone and who loved the Lord with all her heart. She lived most of her life in the Grantville area. She was a domestic worker and washed clothes for families earlier in her life to support her family. She was married to Benjamin Greene and lived briefly in Savannah, Georgia. She loved people and was a very giving person. Among the many things she loved to do were working in her yard and planting flowers. Every year she loved to plant a small garden with peppers and tomatoes. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Viola Green; two sisters, Laura Nalls Finch, Addie Mae Nalls Lundy; and three brothers, George Pace, Isaac Nalls and Albert Nalls.

Surviving are brother, Robert Nalls; three children, Willie Mack Hammond, Mattye Greene Sanders, Patricia Greene; son-in-law, Xenophon L. Sanders; ten grandchildren, Michael, Victoria, Kenya, Khaleah, Thomas, Xayna, Kamisha, Nicholas, Reginald and Shawn; three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. William Jessie Joe Jennings, Smith Street, Newnan, Ga., died Saturday, November 9, 2002 at Newnan Hospital.

A funeral will be Thursday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. at Sellers-Smith R. W. S. Memorial Chapel with Evangelist Pearl Moreland, assisted by Rev. Strickland and Rev. John Adams. Burial will be in Summer Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Deacon Joe Prather, Johnnie Newson and Henry Miller. Flower ladies will be family and friends. On the day of the service the cortege will assemble at the residence at 1 p.m.

Mr. Jennings was born December 20, 1928 in Senoia, Ga. in eastern Coweta County to the late Mr. Joseph and Lucille Thurman Jennings. He was preceded in death by his son and three siblings, Rufus E. and John E. Jennings and Rosia G. Moore.

At age 7 Mr. Jennings moved to Cleveland, Ohio, with his sister and attended East Tech Elementary, Atriburne Junior High and John Hay High School in Cleveland, Ohio. He returned home as a teenager and joined the Rising Star in Haralson, Ga. and later Piney Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. W M. Willis. He spent his life going to many churches playing his guitar and talking his favorite subject, "The Lord." He attended the Greater I Am Mission Holiness Church. He retired from Southern Mills in Senoia.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy McGhee Jennings; four daughters, Shirley Bennett, Margaret Ann, Linda, Rosemary; son, David Jennings; sister, Elizabeth Callaway of Cleveland, Ohio; brother, S. A. Jennings of Griffin, Ga.; aunt, Juanita Jones of Griffin, Ga.; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Flora Belle Martin, 67, of Grantville, Ga., died November 11, 2002 at Hospice LaGrange.

Mrs. Martin was born July 6, 1935 in LaGrange, Ga. to the late Ira and Ida Mae Troup Williams. She was a homemaker.

A funeral will be in the chapel of Higgins at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home Thursday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. The Rev. Terry Calhoun and Rev. Thomas Boyd will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Raymond Martin Sr. and daughter, Pamela Starnes.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Deborah Foote of Texas and John and Crystal Martin of Palmetto; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Bill Strength of Alabama, Sheila and Lamar Wilson of LaGrange, Tina and Brad Hemrich of Grantville; sisters, Juanita Henson of LaGrange, Betty Day of Douglasville, and Irene Boyd of Grantville; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Mr. W. Verrell Price, 84, of LaGrange, Ga., died Monday, November 11, 2002 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.

A funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Ben Bennett will officiate and burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 Wednesday night.

Mr. Price was born December 23, 1917 in Washington County, son of the late Arlie Weaver Price and the late Minnie Powell Price. He spent his childhood in Thomaston, where he graduated from Robert E. Lee Institute, and was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War Two, having served as a first class petty officer on the USS Talamanaca.

A resident of LaGrange since 1945, Mr. Price retired as a machinist from the Dunson Division of West Point Pepperell after more than 30 years of service. He was a member and deacon of the First Christian Church of LaGrange and was a member of the VFW.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Thelma Cook Price of LaGrange; two daughters and a son-in-law, Peggy Rice of Whitesville and Anne and Tom Carraway of Lawrenceville; two sisters, Cecelia Isbell of Eatonton and Janice Pitts of Escondido, Calif.; one brother, Laudice Lee Price of Philadelphia, Penn.; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Mr. James Woodrow Woodard
Mr. James Woodrow Woodard died Monday, November 11, 2002 in his hometown of Eastman, Ga. at Middle Georgia Nursing Home.

Born February 14, 1914 to Sally Sandiford and Philip Hansel Woodard, Mr. Woodard graduated from Dodge County High School and attended Middle Georgia College. He went to Greenville, S. C. to enter the management program for F. W. Woolworth Co. He managed stores throughout the Southeast for 30 years. In later years he owned a variety store. A devout church member and devoted father, Mr. Woodard also was a member of Lions Club and Kiwanis Club.

Surviving are three children, Nancy Caroline Woodard of Milledgeville; Harriett W. Ferguson (C.H.) of Newnan, Elizabeth W. Morris (Jerry) of Tallahassee, Fla.; grandchildren, Nancy Hilliard (John), Laura Murrer (Tim), Kathy Derrick (Marvin), Rebecca Morris; great-grandchildren, Talor and Caleb Smith, Frances Derrick, Brigitte and Cody Murrer; many nieces and nephews; brothers and sisters, J. T. Margaret Woodard, Minnie (John) Pitts, Ernestine (Bill) Yoder, Mrs. Esther Parkerson, Ann (Floyd) David, Bill (Jewell) Woodaard, Trellie Shepherd (Mrs. J. R.), Mrs. Jessie Hodges.

Mr. Woodard was preceded in death by parents and brother, Walter Woodard, Ret. U.S.M.C.

Contributions in memory of J. W. Woodard may be made to the nursing home, Hospice Care Options, National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Cancer Society.

A funeral will be Thursday, Nov. 14 at 11 a.m. at Higgins at Hillcrest Chapel in Newnan with Rev. Betsy Hass officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service. Burial will be in Georgia Memorial Park in Marietta, Ga.

Mrs. Geneva McKenzie, 57, of Newnan, died Friday, November 9, 2002 at Pine Knoll Nursing Center.

She was born May 17, 1944 and was a homemaker.

The family was receiving friends Monday, Nov. 11 from 7-9 p.m.

A funeral will be in McKoon's chapel Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. The Rev. Ken Norton and Dr. C. A. Jernigan will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Roscoe Road.

A memorial service for Little Angel Zuriel Johnson will be held Tuesday, November 12, 2002 at 6 p.m. at Sellers-Smith Funeral Home Inc.

Ellis and Mrs. Bernice V. Ellis, Ms. Mozelle Johnson and Mr. Washington Johnson (Ruby); aunts, Mrs. Lena Caldwell (Larry), Ms. Denise Johnson, and Renee Irving (Horrace); uncles, Nicholas J. Ellis, Antonio R. Ellis, Ronnie Johnson (Kate), Jaron Johnson and Cory Jackson.

Mr. John H. Bozeman
Mr. John H. Bozeman, 77, of Grantville, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002.

Mr. Bozeman was the son of the late John P. Bozeman and Annie Mae Farr Bozeman. He served in the U.S. Army during World War Two, and was a retired ramp agent with Eastern Air Lines.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the Jonesboro chapel of Pope Dickson and Son Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry Eley will officiate, and burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, from 7 to 9 pm. at the funeral home, 168 North McDonough Street, Jonesboro.

Surviving are his wife, Maizie Bozeman; sons John David Bozeman and Adam Dewey Weems; daughters Rebecca Louise Weems, Frances Carolyn Garmon, Nancy Ann McDonald, Margaret Elizabeth Seale, Sherrie Annette Lane, Dorothy Jean Murphy, Debra Sue Hamby, and Kathy Dawn Searcy; 23 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Earl Prescott
Mr. Earl Prescott, 93, of Hogansville, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, at Franklin Healthcare Center.

Mr. Prescott was born June 16, 1909, in Randolph County, Ala., to the late Robert Alvin Prescott and the late Mary Rice Prescott. He had lived in Hogansville since 1958, where he was a member of the Baptist church. Mr. Prescott was retired from the Dunson Division of West Point Pepperell Manufacturing company in LaGrange. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Prescott.

A grave-side service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m. in Hillview East Cemetery in LaGrange.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11.

Surviving are his wife, Bessie Holloway Prescott of Hogansville; son and daughter-in-law William and Linda Prescott of Hogansville; daughter Faye Prescott of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; and grandson David Earl Prescott and his wife Shelley of Hogansville.

Mrs. Opal Luckie Jackson
Mrs. Opal Luckie Jackson, 90, of Palmetto, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at Georgia Baptist Meriwether Hospital.

Born Sept. 13, 1912, Mrs. Jackson was a homemaker and a member of Elim Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held graveside Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Elim Baptist Church Cemetery, with Reverend Bill Deakins officiating. Visitation will be today between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Deacons of Elim Baptist Church.

Survivors include three nephews, Bobby Bridges of Moreland, Steve Bridges of Tampa, Fla., and Harry Bridges of Palmetto; and one niece, Carolyn Ivey of Fayetteville.

Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her parents, Wade and Ollie Kidd Luckie; her husband, Carl Jackson; and a son, Larry Carl Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Elim Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
