Margaret Virginia Calloway Copeland
Services for Margaret Virginia Calloway Copeland, 75, of Tallahassee, Fla., are at noon, Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Tallahassee. The Rev. R. B. Holmes Jr., pastor officiating, and interment is in Culley MeadowWood Cemetery in Tallahassee. Mrs. Copeland died Feb. 20 at Tallahassee Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee. Born May 9, 1928 in Cuthbert, Ga., she was a daughter of Frank Calloway and Clara Brown Calloway. She was a teacher and had lived in Tallahassee for 30 years. She was a graduate of Washington High School in Cairo. She entered Savannah State College in Savannah and completed her freshman year there. She returned to college and earned a bachelor of science degree and master's of science degree from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. In 1972, she was awarded a Fulbright scholarship through Valdosta State College in Valdosta. This afforded her opportunity to study in the country of India for three months. She also traveled to China. For several summers, she attended in-service programs in science and mathematics at Albany State College in Albany. She was a previous member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Cairo under the leadership of the Rev. R. C. Crouch. Mrs. Copeland joined Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. C. K. Steele and became active in the Women's Sunday School Class, Missionary Society Ministry, Upper Room Support Ministry for Bethel Christian Academy, Pastor's Support Ministry and the Inspirational Choir. Survivors include a daughter, Lovoria J. Copeland Stennett Ofuani of Tallahassee; grandson, Marcus Marchand Stennett (Yvette) of Tallahassee; great-grandson, Anderson Jordan Stennett of Tallahassee; beloved niece, Jennifer Babelroth Adams (Forrest) of Tallahassee; godson, Dr. Rufus Ellis of Tallahassee; step-grandsons, Roberto Stennett, Carlos Antonio Stennett both of Orlando, Fla.; aunts, Minnie Williams, Clifford Mae Brown both of Whigham; cousins, Vassie Donald, Louise (Walter) Ford both of Panama City, Fla., Joshua "Andy" Devine of Pensacola, Fla.; and a host of other very dear relatives and friends. Services for Martha Scott Bran, 53, of Cairo are at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2004, at Redeeming Life Fellowship Church in Cairo. Bran died Thursday, March 25, 2004 at Archbold Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Born June 11, 1951 in Grady County, she was the daughter of Cleveland and Margaret Scott. Bran was a lifetime resident of Cairo where she worked as a laborer and was married to Salvador Bran.
