Mrs. Sanders died Tuesday, April 27 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie. Born Nov. 15, 1939 in Mitchell County, she was a seamstress for Darwood Manufacturing Co. She was of the Baptist faith. She was married to the late Lamar Sanders and was the daughter of the late Wilburn Jenkins and Linnie Taylor Scarborough. Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Sanders Aguirre and husband, Lupe of Moultrie; two brothers, Howard Scarborough and wife, Phyllis of Camilla, Johnny Scarborough of Vine Grove, Ky.; a sister, Doris Turner and husband, Norman of Rehobeth, Ala.; special friend, James Nelms of Moultrie; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Louise Palmer; and a brother, Carroll Edward Scarborough. Born Feb. 25, 1913, in Coffee County, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Norman Allen and Cassie Ola Edgar Pittman. She was married to William Jefferson Douglas, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Douglas was a member of Abundant Life Assembly of God and was a secretary for Independent Life. She died Oct. 19, 2007, at the Golden Living Center. Born Dec. 13, 1932, in Thomas County, he was the son of the late Albert Thomas Hicks and Elbis Lewis Hicks. He served in the U.S. Army and was a retired insurance agent with American General Life Insurance Co. He was a member of Moultrie Church of God. Mr. Hicks died Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, at his home. Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Griffin Hicks of Norman Park; two daughters, Carole Hicks Terry of Valdosta and Faye Hicks Schramm and husband Keith of Norman Park; a brother, Rodney Hicks of Warner Robins; a sister, Edna Hicks Kelly of Havana, Fla.; four grandchildren, Julie Terry Quintana and husband Felix, Jeffery Terry, Amy Schramm and Misty Schramm; one great-grandchild; four step great-grandchildren; and, several nieces and nephews. Born Oct. 1, 1923, in Trenton, N.J., he was the son of the late James and Harrietta Hess Goodwin. He was married to Sara Baker Goodwin, who preceded him in death. Mr. Goodwin was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed woodworking and drawing. Mr. Goodwin died Oct. 18, 2007, at Golden Living Center. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Laurie E. and Jackie Miller of Covington, Lamar and Faye Miller of Thomasville, and Dennis and Nancy Miller of Thomasville; eight grandchildren; and, seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Gainous died Thursday at Bainbridge Health Care in Bainbridge. Born Jan. 31, 1936, he was the son of the late Harvey Gainous and the late Avie Whigham Gainous. He worked as a farmer and sold produce. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers L.B. and Herman Gainous; sisters Gladys Calhoun, Frances Jeanette Gainous and Evelyn Gainous; and a niece, Christine McRae. She was so proud of her family and loved them deeply. Mrs. Blackwell died Aug. 11 at her residence. Born June 24, 1925 in Lewisburg, W. Va., she was a daughter of the late John Arnold and Cora Bell Flack. On April 28, 1947 in Thomasville, she married Herbert Blackwell who preceded her in death in February 2002. She attended West Virginia public schools, member of Block C Community Club and Providence M.B. Church. She was a retired from food service at Southwestern State Hospital and had lived in Thomasville for 24 years after moving from Washington, D.C. Survivors include a daughter, Dayl R. Randol of Upper Marlboro, Md.; a son, Donn R. Blackwell of Thomasville; a daughter, Kellie A. Blackwell of Thomasville; a son-in-law, Dirk E. Blackwell of Upper Marlboro; seven grandchildren, Jason Blackwell, Jay E. Randol, Shad Blackwell, Scott E. Randol, Daena N. Cox, Jennifer N. Randol and Ryan B. Blackwell; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Katherine White of Beckley, W.Va.; and a brother, Fred Flack of Lewisburg. Born Sept. 20, 1906 in Shellman, she was the daughter of the late Mary Lemon and Tommy Keys. She was married to Fred Greene who preceded her in death on April 13, 1973. She was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church, Beulah Bush Mission FMBC, Women's Bible Class FMBC, Usher Board No. 1 and Guilding Light Club. She attended Randolph County schools, was a homemaker and lived for 54 years in Thomasville after moving from Shellman.
