Mr. David Traylor Crozier, 79,
entered into rest Dec. 13, 2004 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, at Greencut United Methodist Church, with Dr. Francis Ford and Dr. Clayton Galloway officiating. Burial will follow at the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, McBean. The family received friends from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004 at the DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel, Waynesboro.
Mr. Crozier was born in Richmond County and had lived in Burke County for the past seven years. He was the owner and operator of Speed Printing Company. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the Georgia State Bowling Champions in 1957 and 1958.
Mr.Crozier was preceded in death by his brother, Harold E. Crozier, and his sister, Annie Ruth Powell. He is survived by Peggy, his wife for over 40 years; three sons, Joseph S. Crozier and wife, Elaine, of Waynesboro, Hoyt D. “Hoby’ Crozier and wife, Cecilia, of Waynesboro and David T. Crozier Jr. and wife, Susan, of Martinez. He is also survived by his brother, Forrest E. Crozier, of Memphis, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Gene Powell, W. H. “Doe” Knight, William B. Streeter III, Mark G. Streeter, Richard A. Boland Jr., Daniel L. Boland, Ben W. Knight and Tanner Knight.

Mr. Albert S. Redd of Millen died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004.
His funeral was 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at the Green Fork Baptist Church.
Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Redd, a native of Jenkins County, was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a retired plumber and a Baptist. Survivors include a daughter, Rita R. Burke of Millen; two sons, Albert Wayne Redd and William Stanley Redd, both of McBean; a brother, Harold Redd of Hephzibah; and five grandchildren.
Crowe-Fields Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Walter Kingsland (King) Godbee, 87, passed away Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004 in Coarsegold, Calif. Mr. Godbee, a native of Burke County, resided in Palo Alto, Calif., for the past 40 years. He was a retired master chief in the Navy, was a veteran of WWII and had also retired from United Airlines. Survivors include his daughter, Carolyn Mather of Coarsegold; his sister, Louise McGhan of Baltimore, Md.; and many nieces and nephews in the Girard area.
Sammy “J.R.” Joseph Wilson Jr., 12,
of Augusta entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004 at the Medical College of Georgia. Funeral Services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, in the chapel at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home in Waynesboro with Clifford Banks officiating.
Interment followed in Burke Memorial Gardens.
J.R. was born in Richmond County on Sept. 11, 1992 to Sammy Joseph Wilson and Christine Montgomery Wilson. J.R. attended Wildwood Christian Center in Augusta.
Survivors include his parents; two sisters, Kymberly and Morgan Wilson; grandparents, Vester (Diana) Montgomery of McCormick, S.C., and Janet (Kevin) Shirley, Joyce Rivera and Sam Fisher and Willie Bell Tanksley, all of Augusta; great-grandparent, Elenor Montgomery of Augusta; three aunts; six uncles; and numerous cousins.
Pallbearers were Peanut Taylor, Sam Fisher, Zeramion Scott, Jeff Montgomery, Mark Bell and Ellis Bell Jr. Funeral arrangements by DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home.
Mr. Charles Meeks, 67, of McBean
entered into rest Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004 at his residence. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at Poteet Funeral Home, South Chapel with the Revs. Nevil Smith and Jim Carlson officiating. Internment followed at Piney Grove Baptist Church cemetery.
The family received friends Monday, Dec. 20, at Poteet Funeral Home.
Mr. Meeks was a native of Collins and the son of the late Clifford and Della Hughes Meeks. He retired after working over 30 years as a heavy equipment operator and was a union member of Local 474. He also worked as a mechanic and was a lead technician for Richmond County for the past 15 years. He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Editha “Gail” Meeks; a son, Jeffrey Charles Meeks of McBean; a daughter, Wanda M. Hutcheson and husband, Henry, of McBean; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Talmage Meeks, Taylor Hutcheson and Parker Hutcheson; a brother, Fred Meeks and wife, Jean, of Collins; and two sisters, Virginia Purvis of Collins and Jennette Darden of Vidalia.

Mr. Carol Douglas “Pete” Quick Jr., 71,
entered into rest Monday, Dec. 27, 2004 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.Thursday, Dec. 30, at Botsford Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Dixon officiating.
Burial will follow in the Botsford Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Quick, who lived his entire life in Burke County, was a retired maintenance mechanic from Parker Automotive and was a member of Botsford Baptist Church where he was in the Joy Group and a former deacon.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Eunice Quick; one daughter, Carol Ann Q. Gresham (Joby); two sons, Richard Douglas (Shirley) Quick and Michael “Jeff” (Donna) Quick, all of Waynesboro; one sister, Melba Quick McManus of Jesup; and grandchildren, Amy Gresham (John) Brien of Atlanta, Brad (Nicole) Gresham of Waynesboro, Leslie Quick (Matt) Cardoza of Conyers, Jennie K. Quick and Michael Jeffery Quick Jr., both of Waynesboro; and two great-grandchildren, Dallas Taylor Cooper and John Anderson Brien. Pallbearers will be James Flakes, Leroy Thomas, Robert Hickman, Allen DeLaigle, Avner DeLaigle, Bubba Westbrook, David Petrea and Danny Kent. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Botsford Baptist Church, W. H. Harper Sr., Charlie Story, Van Lively and Chester Powell. Nolan “Nag” Austin Goodyear Jr. of Decatur died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004.
Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, in the chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons with the Rev. Fred Shelnutt, Dr. Judson C. Ward and Larry Connolly, chaplain, officiating.
Internment was in Decatur Cemetery.
Mr. Goodyear was born in Oxford Feb. 27, 1913, the son of the late professor Nolan A. and Marie Lane Evans Goodyear and brother of the late Dr. William E. Goodyear. The family moved to Atlanta when Professor Goodyear came to the newly established Emory University. “Nag” was a member of the first graduating class of Druid Hills High School in 1929 and graduated from Emory in 1933, where he was an active member of Chi Phi fraternity.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre in World War II, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Commander in communications. He was with the Right-of-Way-Acquisitions for the Georgia Highway Department for many years, and upon retirement served in public relations and security at Piedmont Hospital.
“ Nag” was the youngest charter member of Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church and later joined North Decatur United Methodist Church, where he became an active member of the Reese Griffin Sunday School class.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Emma Steadman Goodyear.
Survivors include his daughters, Marsh G. Green of Atlanta and Natalie G. Harris of Decatur; a sister Marie Goodyear O’Steen of DeKalb, Ill.; a granddaughter, Paige Harris of Duluth; and a great-grandson, Christopher Gomez of Duluth.
