Born Oct. 11, 1934, in Thomas County, she was a daughter of the late Hattie and Willie Sr. Mickens. She was married to Amos Lee Jackson, who survives, of Ochlocknee. She was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and Upper Room Church of Christ in Paterson, N.J. She had lived in Ochlocknee for six years prior to moving from Paterson. Tim Phillips will officiate and interment is in Boston City Cemetery. Mr. Terrell died Monday, April 24 at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home. Born May 30, 1935, he was the son of the late Brinson Adam Terrell Sr. and Maude Mobley Terrell. Mr. Terrell was a retired businessman and farmer. He was a veteran of the United States Army and Reserves and a former city councilman. On Nov 30, 1963, he married Ellen Peeples Terrell who survives. Leon O. ‘L.O.’ Wright
Services for Leon O. “L.O.” Wright will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, April 24, 2006, at the First Presbyterian Church in Thomasville, with the Rev. Daniel Smoak and Dr. Stephen Murray officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Savannah on Tuesday. Mr. Wright died April 21, 2006, at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born on July 4, 1929, in Canton, Miss., he was a son of the late Leon Ollie and Ruth Wright. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in forestry and worked for more than 35 years with Union Camp Corp. as Manager of Harvesting Operations. Mr. Wright was an avid gardner and enjoyed cultivating a wide variety of plants. He also had a strong interest in land conservation and management. While living in Savannah, he was a member of the Rotary Club and White Bluff Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder. He currently was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Thomasville. On July 25, 1968, in Brunswick, he married Francine Farrer Wright, who survives. Other survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn Rose Wright and Cameron Fogle of Washington, D.C.; and daughter, Krista Gayle Wright of Atlanta. Thomas E. McRae Sr.
Graveside services for Thomas E. McRae Sr., 90, Cairo, were Saturday, April 22, 2006, at Greenwood Cemetery in Cairo, with The Rev. Charles M. Bennett officiating. Mr. McRae died Thursday, April 20, 2006, after an extended illness. He retired after 24 years working as a high school principal in several Florida counties. After moving to Georgia, he worked as a purchasing agent for the Grady County School System for 14 years. A member of the Georgia Retired Teachers Association, Mr. McRae also helped organize and was a past president of the Cairo Golden K Kiwanis Club. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the VFW. Mr. McRae is survived by his wife of 22 years, Alice Louise McRae, Cairo; children, Thomas E. McRae Jr., Tallahassee, Fla., Mary Ann Evans, Leander, Texas; grandchildren, Mary Jane Macaluso, Senoia, Byron Evans, Tampa, Fla.; and seven great-grandchildren.
