Services for Ronald L. Beadle of Cairo, are at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Allen & Allen Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Alan McNabb will officiate. Mr. Beadle died Friday, March 4, 2005, at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born June 14, 1935, in Kingston, N.Y., he was the son of Lee Beadle who survives in Lake Katrine, N.Y., and the late Addie Lane Beadle. He was married to Eunice Gracia Beadle who survives. Mr. Beadle was an oil service technician at Garrghan Oil Co. in New York. Henry Wesley Davis
Services for Henry Wesley Davis, 92, are at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005, at First United Methodist Church in Cairo. The Rev. Richard Soper, the Rev. Barry Giddens, and the Rev. Tegler Greer will officiate, and interment is in Cairo City Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jimmy Davis, Everett Allen, Mike Brock, David Brock, Jerry Joiner and Stan Cross. Davis died Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Grady General Hospital. Born May 8, 1912, in Leesburg, Davis was the son of the late Mary Lue Smith Davis and James Bradley Davis, Sr. He worked as parts manager for R.R. VanLandingham and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater of the war. Davis was a member of First United Methodist Church of Cairo, and active in community service. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Allen Davis of Cairo, whom he married July 8, 1945. Other survivors include daughters, Kay Hazlehurst and her husband Rogers of Islamorada, Fla., Mary Evelyn Wells and husband David of Sylvania, Susan Engram and husband Brian of Blackshear; grandchildren Rob and Amanda Hazlehurst, Ft. Wachua, Ariz., Kit Rossi and husband Tom of Jacksonville, Fla., Talmadge Davis Hazelhurst, Islamorada, Fla., Charles and Kathryn Wells, Sylvania, Lindsay Engram, Blackshear; great-grandchild Thomas Henry Rossi, Jacksonville, Fla.; brother J.B. Rubye Evelyn Peacock
Services for Rubye Evelyn Peacock, 83, of Quitman, are at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at the Maxwell-Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Quitman. The Rev. Jeri Pruette and the Rev. Larry Hauser will officiate, and the burial will be in Cairo City Cemetery. Peacock died Thursday, March 3, at her residence following a brief illness. Born in Grady County, she was the daughter of Leslie Hugh and Annie John Aldredge Peacock. She was a retired school teacher for the Brooks County Public School System, and a member of the Morven United Methodist Church. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Hugh Anthony and Helen Peacock of Milton, Fla.; nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Dr. Jeri Pruette of Quitman. Sim “Jake” Mirick
Services for Sim “Jake” Mirick, 77, are at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2005, at the Cairo Church of God. The Rev. Dewayne Atkinson, the Rev. Gary Walker, and the Rev. Jesse Roland will officiate, and interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Cairo. Honorary pallbearers include Dexter Harrison, Pete Horton, Leavy Horton, Marty Thomas, Lester Mill and Andy Millerschoen. Mirick died Friday, March 4, 2005, at Grady General Hospital. Born Oct. 14, 1927, in Faceville, he was the son of the late Sim and Maggie Aycock Mirick, and was married to Linnie Belle Horton, who preceded him in death in 1996. He remarried Frances D. Mirick, who survives. Mirick was a veteran or World War II, and a member of the Cairo Church of God. Interment will follow at Beulah Cemetery. Mrs. Stewart died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, in Rome. Born in Camilla on Nov. 25, 1918, to the late George W. and Essie Davis Worsham, she married the late John Cecil Stewart on Aug. 21, 1943. She was a hairdresser and a member of Eastside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 21, 1988. Survivors include two daughters, Dean Joiner and Jean Johnson and husband Wayne, all of Thomasville; a son, George Stewart and wife Gale of Thomasville; six grandchildren, Jonathon Gandy, Ashley Gandy, Chris Stewart, Brian Stewart, Dee Hayes and Jamie Joiner; five great-grandchildren, Skylar Gandy, Michaela Gandy, Trevor Hayes, Kyle Hayes and Zachery Joiner; half-brother Larry Worsham of Vada and half-sister Marianne Rumker of Hopeful. Born May 23, 1943, in Cairo, he was the son of the late Theo and Rosebelle Garland. He attended the Grady County school system. He was a loving brother and father. Mrs. Roberts was a cosmetologist employed at Sue Rogers Beauty Shop and was a member of First Baptist Church in Thomasville. She taught Sunday school in Thomasville, Ga. and Chattahoochee, Fla., was a Girl Scott Leader in Chattahoochee, Fla., taught Bible school in Chattahoochee, Fla., and was in the Woman's Club in Chattahoochee, Fla. A homemaker, Mrs. Ansley attended Union Hill Primitive Baptist Church. She died on March 2, 2005 at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home. Survivors include son, Winford and Jackie Mobley of Cairo; daughters, Lanell (Nell) M. At a young age, she married Robert Gilbert Jr. A retired sterilization technician, she attended Providence M.B. Church. Mrs. Gilbert died Feb. 26, 2005 at her residence. Survivors include daughters, Mattie Stokes of Atlanta, Ga., Barbara (Willie) Walden of Thomasville and Diane (Michael) Peterson of Thomasville; sons, Arthur Livingston of Tallahassee, Fla., Ronnie Gilbert of Atlanta, Ga. and Bernard Gilbert of Thomasville; first cousin, Carolyn Adams of Metcalfe; cousin, Celia Woody of Thomasville; cousin, Willie Forrest of Virginia; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and other family and friends.
