Services for Lillian West Andrews, 90, Cairo, are at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005 at Clark Funeral Home Chapel in Cairo. The Rev. Wayne McDonald and the Rev. Wayne Burdeshaw will officiate and interment is in Midway Cemetery in Cairo. Active pallbearers are Jamie McCorkle, Tommy Butler, Billy Butler, Al Lewis, Patrick Ouzts and Jack Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Keenagers of Eastside Baptist Church. Mrs. Andrews died Thursday, Feb. 24 in Albany. Born Dec. 23, 1914 in Grady County, she was a daughter of the late Mallie Kira and Susie Gordy West. She was married to Coy Andrews who preceded her in death on Oct. 21, 1975. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church in Cairo and retired from the cutting department of W.B. Roddenbery Co. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Mary Ann Andrews of Albany; grandchildren, Sherri and David Wheeler of Fredericksburg, Va.; great-grandchild, Corrie Wheeler of Fredericksburg; and brother, Lynwood Rosencrantz and wife, Myrtice of Cairo. She was preceded in death by a brother, Perry West; sisters, Josephine Miller, Ruth Brown, Laleah Walden, Ethelle Williams; and a great-grandson, Joshua Andrew Wheeler. Lewis Benjamin Hall

Services for Lewis Benjamin Hall, 85, are at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005 at Allen & Allen Chapel. The Rev. Tim Robson will officiate and interment in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Hall died Thursday, Feb. 24 at his residence. Born Nov. 6, 1919 in Colquitt County, he was the son of the late Andrew J. and Maybelle Smith Hall. On Nov. 2, 1944, he married Merline Cole who survives. He was retired from Petroleum Products and a member of Eastside Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Other survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Hilda and Bill Taylor of Thomasville; a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Judy Seagers of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Bruce Taylor, Oliver Seagers, Allen Seagers; brothers and sisters-in-law, John Rollen and Joyce Hall, Jack and Faye Hall both of Tifton; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Services for Etta Rachel Perry, 89, of Justice, W.V., were at 1 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005 at Justice Tabernacle Church in Justice. The Revs. Mason Perry, Joe Lester and Michael Browning officiated. Interment followed in Davis Cemetery in Justice. Active pallbearers were Wayne Ellis Sr., Joey Ellis, Terry Lambert, Jamie, John Pat, Jim Ed Perry, Larry Perry Jr., Edward Watts Jr., Perry Ratliff and Michael A. Berry. Honorary pallbearers were Horace Vance, Terry Hamrick, the Rev. Conley Goad, Roger Lester and Elmer Webb Jr. Mrs. Perry died Wednesday, Feb. 23 at her residence. Born Jan. 1, 1916 at Verner, W.V., the daughter of the Late Leonard and Jane Browning Perry. Mrs. Perry was a homemaker and she was a member of the Isaban Baptist Church at Isaban, W.V., and served the Lord for 84 years. Survivors include five daughters, Lila Ellis of Donie, Texas, Judy (Edward) Watts of Justice, W.V., Erma (Bill) Gadd of Thomasville, Flo (Michael) Berry of Decatur, Ill., Diana (Ken) Williams of Thomasville; four sons, Jerry (Ruth) Perry of Kistler, W.V., the Rev. Larry Perry of Justice, W.V., the Rev. Mason (Brenda) Perry of Justice, W.V., Sidney Perry of Orlando, Fla.; 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a special nephew; Omas Lester of Iron City, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Perry; a daughter, Essie Lambert; one son, James L. Perry; one grandson, Timothy Ray Perry; four brothers, Herbert, Arthur, Shelly and Roy Lester; four sisters, Algie Kennedy, Zina Browning, Lovicie Cline and Reba Lester. The family would like to express their appreciation to Hospice of Southwest Georgia of Thomasville and Dignity Hospice of Southern West Virginia at Logan, W.V. Born May 6, 1932 in Brooks County, he was a son of the late Albert Reynolds Sr. and Florence Hileyen Reynolds. He was married to Lorene Reynolds of Thomasville. He worked at Boston Tractor Co. in Dixie and had lived in Thomasville for 50 years. Survivors include his wife, Lorene Reynolds of Thomasville; sons and wives, Guy Reynolds Jr. (Tangela) of Thomasville, Eddie Reynolds Sr. (Corine), Richard Reynolds (Beverly), James Reynolds Sr. (Jennifer) all of Boston, Robert Reynolds (Racine) of Thomasville; daughters and husbands, Mary Springle (Herman) of Thomasville, Dianna Cooney (Adam) of Thomasville, Gwendolyn Smallwood (Daniel) of Boston, Joyce Shabbazz (Saleem) of Thomasville, Annette Calhoun (Roy) of Albany, Jeanette Brown (Horace) of Tallahassee, Fla.; 27 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Born May 22, 1917, in Thomas County, she was the daughter of the late W.T. and Bessie Elizabeth Gray Knapp. She was retired from Southwestern State Hospital and a member of First Baptist Church in Thomasville. She was married to P.G. Burke who preceded her in death. A son, Pascal G. Burke III, also preceded her in death. Survivors include grandsons Shawn Burke and Glenn Burke; great-grandchildren, Alex Burke and Anna Burke. - Allen & Allen Funeral Home

Doris T. Cannon

Services for Doris T. Cannon of Pavo are at 3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005 at Antioch Baptist Church. The Rev. Jimmy Odom, Rev. Matt Stacey and Rev. Ken Baker will officiate. Interment is in the church cemetery. Mrs. Cannon died Feb. 24, 2005 at Colquitt County Regional Hospital. Born on April 25, 1926 in Brooks County, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie Thompson. She was a homemaker after retiring from Coats and Clarks Company for 31 years, and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. On Sept. 10, 1943 she married Horace Cannon who survives. Other survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Isaac Holt of Pavo; son and daughter-in-law, James and Dawn Cannon of Lake Park; grandchildren, Clint and Lynze Cannon of Great Falls, Mont., Lisa and Scott Solana of Powder Springs, Nancy and Byron Glover of Pavo; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Buddy Burton of Stuart, Fla.; brother, Bill Thompson; brother and sister-in-law, Lamar and Bernice Thompson, both of Pavo; and six great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are deacons of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Gloster died Feb. 20 at her residence. Born Feb. 12, 1918 in Boston, she was a daughter of the late Matthew and Cassie Smith. She was married to the Rev. William Gloster. She was a member of Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God in Christ, a homemaker and had moved to Boston from Opa Locka, Fla. Survivors include her husband, the Rev. William Gloster of Boston; son, William Gloster Jr. (Janice) of McDonough; daughters, Cassie Gloster of Boston, Jessie Williams of Miami, Fla., Sarah Mitchell (Willie) of Thomasville, Bertha Gloster of Boston, Flossie Jordan (Sylvester), Ethel Gloster, Priscilla Gloster all of Miami, Fla.; sons, John H. Gloster (Margaret) of Valdosta, Joseph Gloster (Jacqueline) of Mulberry, Fla., Anthony Gloster (Marilyn) of Douglas, Richard Gloster (Elsa) of Miami; 31 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-granchildren; a sister, Lessie Williams of Boston; a sister-in-law; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. The viewing is from 2 to 8:30 p.m., today at the funeral home with a wake from 6 to 7 p.m. and 11 a.m. until the service Saturday at the church. Mr. Green died Feb. 20 at Archbold Medical Center. Born Feb. 6, 1946 in Monticello, Fla., he was a son of Martha Green Brown and Albert Bright. He was married to Carrie Everett Green who preceded him in death. He attended Howard Academy in Monticello, Fla. and was a member of St. Luke Pentecostal Church in Monticello, Fla. He was a carpenter and had lived in Monticello prior to moving to Thomasville 30 years ago. Survivors include his mother, Martha Green Brown of Vero Beach, Fla.; daughters, Jonita Green Stewart, Iva Bradshaw both of Thomasville, Lashon Arnold of Greenville, Fla., Frances (Trina) Hart of Fort Pierce, Fla.; sons, Leo Green of Miami, Fla., Joel Green of Thomasville; sister, Bertena Randolph of Melbourne, Fla.; brother, Ben L. Services for Mildred Ward Tucker, Cairo, are at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005 at Greater New Corinth M.B. Church. Superintendent P.E. Hayes will officiate and interment is in Crestview Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Tyrone Copeland, Kenneth Tucker Jr., Ronnie Tucker, Ralph Harris, Herman Wilson, Henry Mills Jr., Tony Jenkins and Virgil Evers. Mrs. Tucker died Feb. 22 at Grady General Hospital. Born Nov. 9, 1943 in Grady County, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Myrtle Ward. She attended Washington Consolidated High School. She was married to Herbert Tucker Sr. and they had six children. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She joined Faith Temple in 1972 and later joined Bibleway Church of God in Christ in Vada. During her many years of service at Bibleway, she served as secretary, Sunday School teacher and served on the missionary board. SFC Ralph James Washington

Services for SFC Ralph James Washington, 96, 722 N. Broad St., Thomasville, are at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, U.S. Hwy. 319 North, Thomasville. The Rev. Andrew Anderson, pastor, and the Rev. Emory Hopkins officiating. Interment is in St. Paul Cemetery with full military honors. Active pallbearers are Funeral Honors Detail, U.S. Army, Fort Benning. Honorary pallbearers are deacons of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Washington died Feb. 21 at Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee, Fla. He was born Oct. 25, 1908 in Thomasville to the late Rev. I.E. and Laura Washington. He was the fifth of 10 siblings. He was married to Mary Bryant who preceded him in death. He confessed his belief in Christ at an early age and joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Thomasville where he served faithly in Sunday School and held various offices until his health failed. He was a graduate of Thomas County School System. He served his country with unrelenting service for 21 years (1942-1963) in the United States Army, which include a tour of duty in Japan, Guam and Korea. After retiring from the Army, he owned and managed a barber shop and cafe for numerous years. His sense of humor, charm, unselfish support, love and gentle spirit will be missed by all. Survivors include his daughter, Doris Washington of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Ruby Smith of Thomasville; a grandson, Floyd Brown Washington (Mamie) of Atlanta; two great-granddaughters, Mia Brown and U’Tahsha Brown both of Atlanta; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephew, great-great-great nieces; great-great-great nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. The viewing is from 3 to 8:30 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until the service Sunday at the church. Active pallbearers are Cole Prince, A.J. Cantley, Wayne Oates, Greg Vanlandingham, Steve Maxwell and Dennis Clark. Mr. Griner died Tuesday, Feb. 22 at his residence. Born May 2, 1935 in Cairo, he was a son of the late J.W. and Martha Kate Anderson Griner. He was married to Merlene Finney Griner on Jan. 17, 1957 who preceded him in death on May 20, 2003. A lifetime resident of Grady County, he served in the U.S. Army, member of Gordon Heights Baptist Church in Cairo and was retired. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Artie and Cheryl Griner of Cairo; sister, Jeanette Griner Clark of Cairo; grandchildren, Callie Griner, Gretchen Griner and Cole Prince all of Cairo.
