Sonjia K. Rottier, 58 of Fremont, Mich. died December 23, 2005. A native of Pennington Gap, Va. she was the daughter of the late Cecil Shelburne. She was a partner in Rottier Accounting & Tax Service and was a member of First Christian Reform Church of Fremont. Funeral services were held Dec. 27, in the First Christian Reform Church. The Rev. Allen Petroelje officiated. Interment was in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Fremont, Mich.

William “Ben” Knox, 85 a retired salesman of Conyers, died January 6, 2006.Mr. Knox was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Conyers. Walter Alex Granholm
Walter Alex Granholm, 87 of Loganville, a retired commercial artist, died Dec. 30, 2005. He was born on June 6, 1918 in Greenwood MS where he graduated from Greenwood High School. he completed his advanced art studies at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh; and as a Commercial Artist, he produced art work for National Advertising Campaigns for many companies including, Coca-Cola, Southern Airways and Chick-fil-A. He served his country in World War II in the Army Air Corps, from 1939 to 1945.

Caroline Crawley
Caroline Crawley, 85 of St. Marys died Dec. 27, 2005 at the Life Care Center of Hilliard after and extended illness. She was born to the late Vernon and Carrie Keener Smith on July 31, 1920 in Atlanta, Ga. She was married to the late Harry Crawley for 40 years, who was an attorney and Judge in Thomaston, GA. She had been a resident of St. Marys for the past 13 years coming from Social Circle. Caroline retired form teaching after 45 years of service and she was a former Elder in the Presbyterian Church. Caroline was preceded in death by a daughter Barbara Elaine Crawley.

Clyde E. Adkins, 82 of Monroe, died Friday Dec. 23, 2005. Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005 in the Loganville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home. The Rev. Glen Money officiated. Burial followed at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Milledgeville. Mr. Adkins was a WWII Army Veteran, retired after 14 years of service as a shop teacher with Gwinnett County Schools and was a member of First Baptist Church of Monroe.

Heather Lynn Dalton
Heather Lynn Dalton, age 25, died on Tuesday, December 20, 2005. She attended Jersey Holiness Church. She enjoyed playing all types of sports. She formerly played softball, basketball, and ran track at Eastside High School. She made the all star team every year and won numerous awards for sports throughout her life. In 1994 she played in the USAA softball world series.

James Frederick (Fred) Bolinger
Lt. Col. (Retired) James Frederick (Fred) Bolinger, 71, of Philadelphia, MS died Dec. 18, 2005. A native of Middlesboro, KY, he was the son of the late A.D. and Ethel Powell Bolinger. Retired from the U.S. Air Force, he was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was one of three hundred people in the United States to receive the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a member of the First Methodist Church.

Lamar Parker, former Monroe City councilman died Dec. 24, 2005 He was 76. A native of Walton County, he was the son of the late Clarence R. Parker and Florine Satterfield Parker. A former mayoral candidate, he was retired from American General Life Insurance Co., having received LUTCF designation and served as president of the Monroe Life Underwriters Assn. He was a member and deacon of Walker Baptist Church and served in the National Guard. He was a member of Generous Warren Lodge # 20 F. & A.M. and had served as American Red Cross Director at one time.

Allen loved the Lord and enjoyed reading and studying His word. He strived to bring glory to Him daily. Allen was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. He cherished family time. He loved watching his son perform with the George Walton Academy marching band and his daughter play the piano. He also enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerome Cox.

The widow of Foster Stark, she was retired from the Monroe-Walton Mill and was a former employee of Carwood Mfg. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Orene G. White, 90 of Loganville died December 20, 2005. A native of Walton County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Lant Guntrie, Sr. and Lucy Still Guthrie. The widow of Clarence E. White, she was a homemaker and was a member of Sharon Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Dec. 22 in Sharon Baptist Church. The Rev. Glenn Stephens and The Rev. Horace Parr officiated and interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Leonard Greene, Jeff Guthrie, Dennis Perry, Justin Starrett, Tony Greene and Gary Greene.

Beatrice Everett, 72, of Monroe, died on Jan. 24, 2006. She was born in Wake County, NC on Aug. 3, 1933 to the late Lewis David Wilson and the late Undine Faison Wilson Allen. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Curtis Everett. Surviving are: daughters and sons-in-law: Sheila and Frank Conner, Monroe; and Susan and D. W. Stone, Bostwick; son: David Everett, Mt. Vernon; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

William Starr Miller
William Starr Miller, 84 of Newnan and Plainville died suddenly Thursday, January 26, 2006. Dr. Miller was a retired educator whose career spanned more than 40 year. He was President Emeritus of Brewton-Parker College where he had served twice as president, and was Dean Emeritus of the School of Education of Georgia Southern University where he served for 18 years. His educational service, beginning in the public schools of Gordon County, also included an administrative and teaching role at Young Harris College, as well as service as Academic Dean of Tift College.

Reverend Horace Burel Martin
vThe Rev. Horace Burel Martin, 53 of Cleveland, Ga. died Saturday, January 21, 2006 at Northeast Ga. Medical Center following a brief illness. Rev. martin was born on December 21, 1952 in Walton County. He was preceded in death by his father William Hugh Martin and his grandparents, Borrow Brooks and Lottie Stephens and Mr. and Mrs. William Martin. Rev. Martin was an ordained minister of the Congregational Holiness Church. He served as Pastor of a number of churches, served nine years as Superintendent of the North Georgia District, and most recently served on the executive board of the Congregational Holiness Church.

He was a veteran of U.S. Navy, serving 4 years as an Electronics Specialist. He retired after 30 years with I.B.M. Corporation. He was an avid sportsman and a member of the Southern Bicycle League.

Inez Hollingsworth Taylor, 88, Flintstone, Georgia, passed away January 17, 2006 in Macon, Georgia. She leaves behind memories of an exciting life with many interests. Born April 24, 1917, at Eagle Cliff (now Flintstone), Georgia, she was the second of six children of Rike Anderson Hollingsworth and Alma Blanche Howard Hollingsworth. Always an excellent student, she was the valedictorian of her Chattanooga Valley high school class. She studied and worked as a cosmetologist before marrying and working at Oak Ridge, Tennessee on the Manhattan Project during World War II.

A member of St. Michael’s & All Angels Episcopal Church, Stone Mountain, Mr. Brinkley was also a member of the Lion's Club and Chairman of the Loganville Housing Authority. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maida Sue Brinkley in 1990 and is survived by children: Bill Brinkley, Boston, Mass., Marylyn Dillard, Canton, Ga., and one granddaughter: Cadence Brinkley. Grave side services were held Monday, Jan. 16 at Hill Haven Memorial Gardens, Monroe. The Rev. Dr. Paul Elliott officiated.
