Stacy Dickt will officiate and interment is in Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Lawhorn died Nov. 2 at Mitchell County Hospital in Camilla. She was a retired inspector at Rodden bery’s. Mrs. Roye died Wednesday, Nov. 3. She retired as office manager for WGKR radio in Perry, a longtime resident of Tallahassee and was a Catholic. Willie Lee Smith Jr.
Services for Willie Lee Smith Jr., 43, of Thomasville are at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at Second Presbyterian Church. The Rev. James Youmas, the Rev. Jasper Moore and the Rev. Earl Williams will officiate, and interment will be in Mount Olive Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnny Osburn, Luther Osburn, Willie Osburn, Alexis Smith, Joseph Smith, Thurston Smith and Debrel Moore. Smith died Sunday, Oct. 24, at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born in Thomas County Jan. 8, 1961, he was the son of the late Willie Sr. and Joyce Smith. He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and a former officer at the Thomas County Correctional Institution. Smith, a 1979 graduate of Cairo High School, attended United States Army leadership, cooking and baking schools, and served as chief cook from 1981 to 1986. On April 3, 1982, at Little Bethel A.M.E. Church in Decatur County, he married Jacqueline Moore Smith, who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Maurice Smith and Marion Smith, and three daughters, Latavia Smith, Sharhonda Smith and Briona Smith, all of Thomasville; father and mother-in-law Bonnie and Willie Mae Moore of Havana, Fla.; brother and his wife Randy (Dorothy) Smith of Thomasville; sister and her husband Nina (Kevin) Heath of Cairo; sister Lucilla Smith of Tampa, Fla.; aunts Eula Diggs and Ruth Casey of Thomasville; special aunt and uncle Corrine (Roosevelt) Lurry of Thomasville; brother and sister-in-law the Rev. Thompson died Sunday, Oct. 17, at Archbold Medical Center. Born Oct. 23, 1948, in Pike County, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Howard and Gladys Goolsby and lived in Thomas County for 25 years. Thompson was a member of Beulah Hill Baptist Church in Alabama, and was married to Roy Edward Thompson, who preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, James E. Thompson of Thomasville; a daughter, Shiffonique S. Coleman Wilson Sr.
Services for Coleman Wilson Sr., 78, of Thomasville, are at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at First Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. I.L. Mullins will officiate, and interment will be in Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Pavo, with military honors. Active pallbearers will be members of American Legion Post 519 in Thomasville, and honorary pallbearers will be friends of the family. Wilson died Monday, Oct. 25 at Archbold Medical Center. Born May 1, 1926 in Brooks County, he was the son of the late Coleman Thompson and Essie Head. He was a veteran of World War Two and was honorably discharged, was honorary deputy sheriff and peace officer, and was a member of American Legion Post 519 and the Elks Lodge. He was a retired mechanic for the Sunnyland Packing Company, and was married to Mary L. Hollis, who preceded him in death. Eddie "Edgar" McBurrows, 50, of Boston, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Services are at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Pavo Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at 3 p.m. with the Revs. Dorothy Glass and Joan Daniels officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery, also in Pavo. Casketbearers will be Leon Everett, Tony Atkins, Charlie Daniels, Chris Daniels, Otis McBurrows and Chris McBurrows. Mr. McBurrows was a truck driver and made his career at Thomas County Public Works. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by two sons, Eddie Atkins and wife Tasha of Sandford, Fla., and Frederick McBurrows and wife Yvonne of Boston; two daughters, Tonya Booker and husband Niamon of Boston and Latori Shealey and husband Gary of Hinesville; a nephew, Otis Jean McBurrows of Pavo, who was raised like a brother; five sisters, Ira Davis of Pavo, Grace King of Pavo, Neilie B. Born Aug. 20, 1936 in Early County, Ga., he was a son of the late Sim and Desaime Mitchell Brown. He was married Teresa Delores Harrell Brown who preceded him in death on Aug. 14, 2003. Of the Baptist faith, he was a retired policeman with the city of Whigham and Grady County sheriff’s department. She was married to Clifford McKinney who preceded her in death in 1950. She attended Good Shepherd Episcopal Church School and Hadley Christian Methodist Episcopal Church School. She had lived here for 31 years after moving from Miami, Fla. and was a cook.
