Mrs. Essie Moon Scoggins, 85, of Colbert, diedWednesday, Nov. 18, 1998.
A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Scoggins was a daughter of the late Charles H. and Mary Ann Moon. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Scoggins was preceded in death by her husband, John Scoggins.
Graveside services were held Friday, Nov. 20, in the Friendship Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Dayton Logan officiating.
Survivors include two sons, Randall Scoggins, Colbert, and Franklin Scoggins, Ila; one sister, Merbelle Collier, Sylacauga, Ala.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Bonnie E. Horne
Mrs. Bonnie E. Horne, 47, of Danielsville, diedSunday, November 22, 1998.
A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Horne was a daughter of the late J.P. and Pearlie Lee Chastain Craft.
She was a homemaker and a member of Ross Chapel Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 24, at Ross Chapel Baptist Church with the Revs. Mickey Pike and James Shelton officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Raymond Gunn, Curtis Gholston, Frankie Gunn, Shane David, John Pulliam and Brian Ledbetter served as pallbearers.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Horne; one son, Timothy Horne, Danielsville; six sisters, Ruby Hilliard, Anderson, S.C., Peggy Rooks and Faye Gunn, both of Danielsville, Mary Gosnell, Greenwood, S.C., Judy David, Winterville, and Lucy Aaron, Social Circle; five brothers, Marvin, Roger and Billy Craft, all of Watkinsville, Jack Craft, Danielsville, and Michael Craft, Hull; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Mary Agnes Coile, 85, of Athens, diedMonday, Nov. 16, 1998.
A native of Madison County, Mrs. Coile was a daughter of the late Cleveland and Mary Lee Moore Simmons.
She was a lifelong resident of the Athens area and was a retiree of Chicopee Mills.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 19, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, with Dr. Rick Standard officiating. Burial was in the Meadow Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Albert Coile; two daughters, Faye Bailey, Cleveland, Tenn., and Judith Donohoe, Athens; one son, Wayne Coile, Lithonia; one sister, Nellie McKearn, Athens; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Edith McEntire
Mrs. Edith McEntire, 78, of Alto, diedFriday, November 20, 1998, at her residence following an extended illness.
A native of Habersham County, Mrs. McEntire was bornSept. 2, 1920. She was a daughter of the late Shuford and Viola Tomlin Eller.
Mrs. McEntire was a homemaker and of the Holiness faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry McEntire, a son, John David McEntire, and a brother, L.G. Eller.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 22, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Revs. Sanford Kimbrell and Dennis Wade officiating. burial was in the New Hope Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include four daughters, Joyce Wiley and Sylvia Dill, both of Alto, and Carolyn Alexander and Leeola Worley, both of Cornelia; three sons, Troy McEntire, Cornelia, and Robert and Charles McEntire, both of Alto; one sister, Pearline Gragg, Demorest; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

A native of Jackson County, Mr. Owensby was bornSept. 18, 1930. He was a son of the late Allen and Mattie Lee Sims Owensby.
He was a retiree of Jefferson Mills and was a member of Madison Street Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 1, at Madison Street Baptist Church with the Revs. Jimmy Owensby and Billy Owensby officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Dodd Owensby; three daughters, Charlotte Hardy, Maysville, and Wilma Keel and Joan Minish, both of Commerce; three sons, Bernice, Jimmy and Thomas Owensby, all of Commerce; one sister, Kate Lacey, Commerce; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Wilkes was bornMarch 13, 1911. She was a daughter of the late Mack and Mae Jackson Anthony.
Mrs. Wilkes was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Wilkes, and a son, M.C. Wilkes.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 28, at Bethany United Methodist Church, Jefferson, with the Revs. Jessie Mealor and Hulon Hill officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

A native of Georgia, Mr. Cowart was bornDec. 14, 1931. He was a son of the late Fred and Etheleene Baugh Cowart.
Mr. Cowart worked as a painter.

A native of Cleveland, Mrs. Standridge was bornAug. 4, 1913. She was a daughter of the late John Henry Brown and Mamie Lou Turner Standridge.
Mrs. Standridge was a housewife. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Standridge.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Silver Shoals Baptist Church, Homer, with the Revs. Perry Smith and David Bowen officiating. Burial was in the Standridge Family Cemetery, Clermont.
Survivors include one son, Richard Standridge, Gillsville; three daughters, Debra Hixenbaugh, Commerce, Delorse Meeks, Wrightsville, and Lillian Wurtz, Dry Pond; a special daughter-in-law with whom she lived, Carolyn Standridge, and grandchildren, Scott and Michelle Standridge and Raymond and Chad Standridge; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Minnie H. Lee
Mrs. Minnie Harris Lee, 65, of Bowersville, diedSunday, Nov. 29, 1998.
A native of Habersham County, Mrs. Lee was a daughter of the late Henry C. and Elizabeth Towel Harris.
She was a retired manager of Mini Burger in Lavonia and a member of Flat Shoals Baptist Church. Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by one son, Randy Lee.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with the Revs. Dan Bailey and Sid Newell officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Royston.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Lee, Alabama, and Eddie Lee, Bowersville; three daughters, Barbara Hilley, Royston, Debbie Cawthon, Bowersville, and Judy Lee, Martin; two brothers, James and Henry Harris, both of Commerce; four sisters, Virginia Billings, Starr, S.C., Henrietta O'Dell and Mary Clark, both of Hartwell, and Betty Hulsey, Homer; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Sue D. Hix
Mrs. Sue D. Hix, 68, of Atlanta and of Commerce, diedMonday, Nov. 23, 1998.
As a survivor of breast cancer, Mrs. Hix gave her body to Emory University School of Medicine to be used as a tool for teaching. She will be missed dearly and forever remembered, family members said.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Survivors include her husband, John B. Hix, Commerce; a daughter, Cathy L. Hix, Commerce; sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis J. Hix, Vale, N.C., and Mr. and Mrs. Dan M. Hix, Tucker; a sister, Mrs. Lola Eubanks, Commerce; two brothers, Clyde and J.C. Dover, both of Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice in Mrs. Hix's name.
Roy Puckett
Roy Puckett, 62, of Danielsville, diedMonday, Nov. 23, 1998, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Puckett was a son of W.R. Puckett, Bogart, and the late Lizzie Mae Puckett. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired truck driver with American Van Lines.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Archer Grove Holiness Church with the Revs. C.J. Phillips and Eugene Walls officiating. Burial was in the Providence Church cemetery, Statham.
Survivors include three sons, Mike Puckett, Bogart, Clifton Puckett, Statham, and Kenny Puckett, Athens; two daughters, Linda Bradberry and Janice Bullock, both of Hull; two brothers, Jimmy and Allen Puckett, both of Statham; five sisters, Sue Bradshaw, Bogart, Inez Kennedy, Winder, Jeanette Kennedy, Ila, Shirley Dalton, Athens, and Betty Ann Jones, Crawford; and 10 grandchildren.
