Pearl B. Lowry
Mrs. Pearl B. Lowry, 88, of Danielsville, diedTuesday, June 22, 1999.
A native of Fulton County, Mrs. Lowry was a daughter of the late Harrison and Addie Boggs.
She was of the Methodist faith. Mrs. Lowry was preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Lowry Sr.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 24, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Fuller officiating. Burial was in Danielsville Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Pierce Hilton, Comer, and Geri Cornish, Danielsville; one son, C.A. Lowry Jr., Danielsville; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchilren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Michael A. Flemming
Michael Allen "Mike" Flemming, 40, of Carlton, diedSunday, June 20, 1999.
A native of Elbert County, Mr. Flemming was a son of George C. Flemming and Mary Ella Ballard Flemming.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of New Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 26, at New Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Samuel Bishop officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include seven sisters, Mary Joyce Echols, Janie Lee Cooper and Joann Flemming, all of Carlton, Dorothy A. Bonds and Brenda Lee, both of Athens, and Virginia Maxine Flemming and Belinda Flemming, both of Stevens; two brothers, George C. Flemming Jr., Carlton, and Marion W. Flemming, Winterville; and step-father, James Jackson, Carlton.

Stacy A. Fagan
Stacy Ann Fagan, 20, of Athens, diedSaturday, June 26, 1999.
A native of Westmoreland County, Pa., Fagan was a daughter of Margaret F. McCrobie, Athens, and the late James Foster Burnworth Sr.
She worked as a retail clerk for Clinkoco Convenience Stores and was of the Baptist faith. Fagan had resided in Athens for the past 15 years.
Services were held Monday, June 28, in the chapel of Bridges Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. Tony Lee officiating.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include four brothers, James Foster Burnworth Jr., Colbert, and Timothy Fagan, Roger Andrew McCrobie and Adam Lee McCrobie, all of Athens; three sisters, Kandie Jo McCrobie, Kristin McCrobie and Megan McCrobie, all of Athnes; one niece, Brittany Marie Burnworth; and one nephew, Brandon W. Fagan, Athens.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Robert C. "Bob" Garrard III
Robert C. "Bob" Garrard III, 41, of Commerce, formerly of Dublin, diedSaturday, June 19, 1999, in Roanoke, Va.
Born in Ben Hill County, Mr. Garrard was a son of Kathryn Lee Garrard, Dublin, and the late Robert Conns Garrard Jr.
He was a graduate of Cedar Shoals High School, Athens, and attended both Middle Georgia College and Gainesville Junior College. Mr. Garrard was employed as a truck driver with Estes Express Lines and was a professional photographer. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Dublin.
Mr. Garrard was an advocate for professionalism and safety standards in the trucking industry and was a profound nature lover.
Memorial services were held Thursday, June 24, at Christ Episcopal Church with the Rev. Sally Franklin officiating.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Mary Ann Gaillard Garrard; one son, Joshua Paden Garrard, Commerce; two step-sons, Malcolm C. Warren, Rentz, and James T. Warren, Commerce; sister and brother-in-law, Rachel G. and Berry Simmons, Suwanee; brother and sister-in-law, Lee W. and Amy Garrard, Walterboro, S.C.; and nieces and nephews, Ramsey Simmons, Rob Simmons, Molly Simmons and William Simmons, all of Suwanee.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Episcopal Church or to the Nature Conservancy.

Jewel G. Glisson
Mrs. Jewel G. Glisson, 76, of Watkinsville, diedSunday, June 27, 1999.
A native of Colquitt County, Mrs. Glisson was a daughter of the late Phillip and Melinda Tumlin Goff.
She was a homemaker and had resided in Watkinsville for three years after moving from Athens.
Services were held Tuesday, June 29, at Oconee Memorial Park with the Rev. Richard Hoard officiating.
Survivors include her husband, Jessie E. Glisson; two daughters, Mary Wildes, Hull, and Charlotte Davis, Flowery Branch; two sons, John Glisson, Watkinsville, and Edmon Glisson, Roxboro, N.C.; one sister, Geraldine Laird, Ft. Worth, Texas; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Oscar H. Jackson
Oscar Harold Jackson, 81, of Monroe, diedThursday, June 24, 1999.
A native of Walton County, Mr. Jackson was a son of the late Oscar Benjamin and Jettie Mae Knight Jackson.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 26, in the chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Bolton officiating. Burial was in the Corinth Christian Church cemetery.
Survivors include five daughters, Dianne Murrell, Ila, and Sybil Walls, Judy Callaway, Ann Jackson and Pam Mitchell, all of Monroe; two sisters, Helen Barnette, Conyers, and Annette Stephens, Loganville; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to help cover funeral expenses.

Samuel P. Young
Samuel P. "Sam" Young, 67, of Winterville, diedMonday, June 28, 1999.
A native of Dawsonville, Mr. Young was a son of the late Mancel and Annie Castleberry Young.
He was a resident of Winterville for 23 years and was self-employed as a cabinet maker. Mr. Young was preceded in death by a son, Richard P. Young.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 30, in the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. Howard Garrison officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park. Mr. Young's nephews served as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife, Sara "Kay" Young; three daughters, Ann Shannon and Sherell Myers, both of Danielsville, and Greta Tubbs, Jackson; one son, Carroll Young, Smyrna; one sister, Louise Conewal, Dawsonville; one brother, W.T. Young, Dawsonville; 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Dennis L. Edwards
Dennis Lee Edwards, 68, of Jefferson, diedSunday, June 27, 1999, at his residence following an extended illness.
A native of Jackson County, Mr. Edwards was bornJuly 16, 1930. He was a son of the late Samuel Preston and Della Church Edwards.
Mr. Edwards was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War, and was retired from the poultry industry. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amy Fleeman.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 29, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Revs. Wesley Purcell, Luther Williams and Thomas Doster officiating. Burial was in the Oconee Baptist Church cemetery. James Dumas, Thomas Love, Brantley Prickett, Greg McDonald, Vince Mercardante and Danny Sudderth served as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Poole Edwards; sons and daughters-in-law, Matthew and Pam Edwards and Phillip and Nan Edwards, all of Jefferson; daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Chris Lane, Jefferson, and Melinda and Joe Satterfield, Maysville; three brothers, William Edwards and James Edwards, both of Jefferson, and Doug Edwards, Spartanburg, S.C.; nine grandchildren; special nephew and niece, Johnny and Lynn Martin; and a special friend, Frances Vandiver.

Melba L. Nicholson
Mrs. Melba Lou Landers Nicholson, 58, of Demorest, sister of Janice Ward, Commerce, diedSaturday, June 26, 1999, at her residence following an extended illness.
Born in Habersham County, Mrs. Nicholson was a daughter of Fannie Lou Harris Landers, Hollywood, and the late Charles W. Landers.
She was a homemaker and a member of Victory Baptist Church, Clarkesville. Mrs. Nicholson was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Leon Nicholson.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 28, at Victory Baptist Church with the Revs. Richard Horn, Jan Conley and Kenneth McEntire officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to her sister and mother, include one daughter, Sandi Densmore, Clarkesville, one son, Dennis Nicholson, Demorest; one brother, Randal Landers, Hollywood; and five grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hand in Hand Hospice, 157 Hodges Street, Cornelia, GA 30531.

MRS. FRANKS

COMMERCE - Mrs. Edith Benton Franks, 93, diedSunday, June 27, 1999, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Franks was bornJuly 12, 1905. She was a daughter of the late Theo and Mary Sanders Benton.
Mrs. Franks was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Commerce. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert H. Franks.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 28, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Fred Heard officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews.

MR. EDWARDS

JEFFERSON - Dennis Lee Edwards, 68, diedSunday, June 27, 1999, at his residence following an extended illness.
