H. Kenneth Lowe
H. Kenneth Lowe, 65, of Colbert, diedThursday, October 26, 2000.
A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Lowe was a son of Ada Lowe Holliday, Comer, and the late Harl Lowe.
He was retired from the UGA Physical Plant and was a member of Sonlight Baptist Church. Mr. Lowe was also a member of the Athens Antique Car Club.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 28, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, with the Revs. Dan Corbitt and Buford Lockman officiating. Burial was in Winterville Cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Jean S. Lowe; one son, Anthony L. Lowe, Atlanta; one sister, Norma Faye Kimbel, Athens; and one grandchild.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. GRINDLE
Michigan native
GILLSVILLE - Mrs. Lori Ann Syme Grindle, 40, diedSaturday, October 28, 2000, at her residence following a sudden illness.
Mrs. Grindle was bornin Detroit, Mich., but had recently moved to the Gillsville area. She was a member of Newburg United Methodist Church in Livonia, Mich.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 1, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, with the Revs. Ray Turpin and Roy Syme officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Gainesville.
Mrs. Grindle is survived by her husband, Winfred Grindle; one son, Jacob Dallas Grindle, Gillsville; one daughter, Kaitlin Brianna Grindle, Gillsville; father and mother, David Syme and Marilyn A. Wanhala Syme; one brother, Brian David Syme; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial Park Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. RICHEY
Mechanic
COMMERCE - Ernest Richey, 82, diedFriday, October 27, 2000, at Crystle Springs Nursing Home.
A native of Georgia, Mr. Richey was bornMarch 2, 1918. He had been employed in maintenance at Wayne Poultry and was a member of Freedom Baptist Church.
Mr. Richey was preceded in death by his wife, Nura T. Richey, two brothers, James Richey and Robert Richey, and a sister, Ann Dowdy.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 29, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Danny Green officiating. Burial was in the Webbs Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Richey is survived by a sister, Joyce Jordan, Blairsville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Ivie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. MAGARIAN
Auto mechanic
BRASELTON - Highe K. "Mike" Magarian Jr., 65, diedTuesday, October 24, 2000, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, following an extended illness.
Mr. Magarian was bornApril 12, 1935, in Orange County, Fla., a son of the late Highe K. and Rosalie Jory Magarian.
He was an auto mechanic and attended Zion Baptist Church, Braselton.
Graveside services were held Sunday, October 29, in Greenwood Cemetery, Orlando, Fla.
Mr. Magarian is survived by three daughters, Jeanette Cook, Paraqual, Ariz., Debbie Magarian, Orlando, Fla., and Laurie Whisenhunt, Coctaw, Okla.; four sons, Bo Magarian, Sixston, Mo., Highe K. "Butch" Magarian III, Braselton, James Magarian, Dextor, Mo., and Ricky Magarian, Colorado Springs, Colo.; one sister, Nancy Martin, Orlando, Fla.; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, was in charge of arrangements.

MR. CARTER
U.S. Air Force veteran
WINDER - Mairon Lamar "Buddy" Carter, 69, formerly of Lawrenceville, diedWednesday, October 18, 2000.
Born in Henry County, Mr. Carter was a son of the late James Arthur and Emma Coan Carter.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Korean Conflict, and was a retired dairy farmer. Mr. Carter was a member of The East Gwinnett Church of Christ.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 21, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home, Winder, with Minister Ed Bush and Randy Garner and David Palmer officiating. Burial was in Eastlawn Memorial Park, McDonough.
Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Lora Frances Carter; two daughters, Cheryl Froelich, Flowery Branch, and Deborah Hasty, Grayson; three sons, Wayne Knight, Fayetteville, Lawrence Knight, Newport, Tenn., and Ronald Knight, Jonesboro; one sister, Edith Moss, Birmingham, Ala.; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Carter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. COFFEY
World War II veteran
HOSCHTON - James Woodrow Coffey, 78, diedSaturday, October 28, 2000, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, following a brief illness.
Mr. Coffey was bornin Cherokee County, N.C., but had resided in Hoschton for many years. He was a son of the late William and Lusy Coffey.
Mr. Coffey served in the U.S. Army during World War II and in the South Pacific Area as military police. He was self employed and was a member of Chattahoochee Baptist Church.
Mr. Coffey was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Coffey.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 30, at Chattahoochee Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Carpenter and Mike Stanson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Coffey is survived by his wife, Lillian Coffey, Flowery Branch; three daughters, Evelyn Reed, Braselton, Sandra Vickers, Flowery Branch, and Sabrina Adams, Clermont; seven sons, David Coffey Sr., Roy Coffey, Clarence Coffey, Edwin Coffey, Phillip Coffey and Gerald Coffey, all of Flowery Branch, and Keith Coffey, Buford; four sisters, Ora Anderson, Kingston, Tenn., Lenora Garren, Andrews, N.C., Dottie Riggins, Miami, Fla., and Jo Preston, Marietta; two brothers, Kenneth Coffey, Marble, N.C., and Charles Coffey, Thomasville, N.C.; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Chattahoochee Baptist Church.
Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. O'BRIEN
Mother of countian
BOWMAN - Mrs. Kathryn M. "Kay" O'Brien, 72, of Bowman, diedTuesday, October 10, 2000.
Mrs. O'Brien was bornin Northport, N.Y., but had resided in Atlanta since 1968. She had been living in the Bowman/Vanna Community since 1989. Mrs. O'Brien had recently resided in Sandpoint, Idaho, where her oldest daughter lives. She had only been in Idaho for a few months. Mrs. O'Brien was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Albert J. O'Brien Jr., in 1990.
She was a devoted and loving mother, family members said.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 3, at Vanna United Methodist Church, Vanna.
Mrs. O'Brien is survived by two daughters, Patty Bickers, Sandpoint, Idaho, and Maureen Pitts, Jefferson; and three grandchildren, Alison, Jennifer and Wesley, all of Sandpoint, Idaho.

MRS. MATHERS
Homemaker
SILVER SPRING, MD. - Mrs. Hazel Dean Shields Mathers, 87, diedFriday, October 27, 2000.
A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Mathers was a daughter of the late Emory H. and Annie Elder Shields.
She was a homemaker. Mrs. Mathers was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Alexander Mathers.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 31, in the chapel of Jackson Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Revs. Mike Pethel and Tom Carter officiating. Burial was in the Galilee Christian Church cemetery.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Thomas and Patricia Anne Mathers Orange, Maryland; brother and sister-in-law, George and Reba Shields, Florida; sister, Nancy Shields, Winder; two grandchildren, Carin and Tommy Orange, Maryland; and two nieces, Rita Shields Maupin and Helen Shields Gavin, both of Florida.
Jackson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. SHARP
Brick mason
ATHENS - Samuel Sharp, 62, diedMonday, October 23, 2000.
A native of Jackson County, Mr. Sharp was a son of Lizzie Stewart Sharp and the late Nathaniel Sharp.
He was a brick mason, a carpenter and a mechanic.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 28, at Nimno A.M.E. Church, Center, with Pastors Lathan Mills, B.S. Jackson and Scotty Randolph officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Emanuel Stewart, William Goss, Luther Goss, Alfred Goss, Luthenia Stewart and Bruce Muckle served as pallbearers.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Catherine Sharp; one daughter, Pamela Denise Sharp, Athens; one son, the Rev. Dwight Sims, Athens; two sisters, Lillie Sharp and Billie Jones, both of Athens; one brother, Theron Sharp, Athens; and four grandchildren.
Jackson-McWhorter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. REYNOLDS
Registered nurse
WARNER ROBINS - Mrs. Dimple Allen Reynolds, 84, diedSaturday, October 28, 2000.
A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Reynolds was a daughter of the late Jimmie Henry and Mary Callie Young Allen.
She had worked as a registered nurse in the nursery at St. Mary's Hospital, Athens, for a number of years and was retired from Heritage Nursing Home. Mrs. Reynolds was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Reynolds, and a daughter, Vera Carolyn Reynolds.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 30, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include her children, Ellon Roberts, Griffin, Charles Reynolds, Arnoldsville, Mickey Wilford, Florence, S.C., Jimmy Reynolds, Bonaire, and Larry Reynolds, Arnoldsville; 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, was in charge of arrangements.
