Funeral services for Mrs. Maxine Smith Ivey, 60, of Inkster, Mich., formerly of Taylor County, were held Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at 3 p.m. from the Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Lyons officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Ivey died Thursday, May 22, 2003 in Michigan.
Bentley and sons Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Mr. Melvin Ivey of Inkster, Mich.; a daughter, Ms. Sharon ivey of Detroit, Mich; sons, Mr. David Ivey of Inkster, Mich., Mr. Melvin (Faith) Ivey Jr., of Belleville, Mich., and Mr. Carl Ivey of Inkster, Mich.; six grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers, Mr. Clifford (Louise) Smith, Mr. Willie Lewis (Shirley) Smith, Mrs. Willene Sloan all of Atlanta and Mrs. Glenda (Willie) Ridley of Warner Robins; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mrs. Sherman Gray, Mr. Curtis (Kathy) Ivey, Mr. Sollie Ivey all of the Salem Community of Upson County and Mrs. mary Walker of Thomaston; a host of other relatives who lives in Taylor and Upson counties.
Sara Mae Sanford Holmes
Graveside services for Mrs. Sara Mae Sanford Holmes, 73, of R Street, were held Saturday, May 24, 2003 at 3 p.m. at Crystal Hill Cemetery with Rev. Bill Barber officiating.
Mrs. Holmes died Thursday, May 22, 2003 at Piedmont Hospital.
Coggins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Holmes was a native of Upson County. She was employed for many years at Belk Department Store where she worked as a sales associate. Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. James Douglas Holmes of Thomaston.
Survivors include her son, Mr. Greg Holmes of Lawrenceville; sisters, Mrs. Jane Duncan of Thomaston and Mrs. Martha Walker of Augusta and seven grandchildren.
Rubye Harpe Sellers
Mrs. Rubye Harpe Sellers, 95, formerly of Thomaston, died Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at the Wood Dale Nursing Home in Dalton.
Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home.
Lila Gaylor
Funeral services for Mrs. Lila Gaylor, 78, were held Sunday, May 25, 2003 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Burial followed in Southview Cemetery in Thomaston.
Mrs. Gaylor died Friday, May 23, 2003 at her residence.
McCullough Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Gaylor was a native Georgian, she was the daughter of the late James Paul and Ella Thompson. She was a homemaker and a member of Green Acres Baptist Church. Mrs. Gaylor was preceded in death by her husband, John. J. Gaylor.
Survivors include her sisters, Dorothy T. Duncan, of Jonesboro and Edith T. Whited, of Gulf Breeze, Fla and several nieces and nephews.
William H. 'Buddy' McDaniel
Funeral services for Mr. William H. "Buddy" McDaniel, 80, of East County Road, were held Monday, May 26, 2003 at 12 noon in the Chapel of Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Smith officiating. Burial followed in Upson Memorial Gardens.
Mr. McDaniel died Saturday, May 24, 2003 at Southern Regional Medical Center, Riverdale.
Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. McDaniel was a native of Macon County, Ga. and had been a resident of Upson County since 1943. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the Phillipines and Pacific Theater of the war. Mr. McDaniel retired from the Road Sign Maintenance Shop of the Georgia DOT. He had been a member of East Thomaston Baptist Church for over 40 years. He was married to the late Mrs. Lucile Gassett McDaniel, who died on May 8th of this year.
Survivors include his son, Mr. Dennis (Charlene) McDaniel of Jonesboro; sisters, Mrs. Mable Ellis and Mrs. Elizabeth Drew both of Dublin and Mrs. Ann Stapleton of Huntsville, Ala.; brothers, Mr. Grayson McDaniel and Mr. Felton McDaniel both of Dublin; granddaughters, Mrs. Heather White of Locust Grove and Miss Charity McDaniel of Jonesboro; great-granddaughter, Allie White; and several nieces and nephews.
Martha Bateman Benns Reeves
Memorial services for Mrs. Martha Bateman Benns Reeves, 92, of Thomaston were held Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Alexander and Dr. Robert W. Brown officiating.
Mrs. Reeves died Sunday, May 25, 2003 after a period of declining health.
Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Reeves was born in Butler, Ga. on April 25, 1911. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Edward Benns. mr. Benns was the Editor of the Butler Hearld and a member of the Georgia Journalism Hall of Fame. Mrs. Reeves attended Wesleyan College, Macon, Ga and was a graduate of GSCW in Milledgeville. She was the widow of J. Farley Reeves of Thomaston, Ga. the town in which she spent most of her life and where she taught school for 42 years. Mrs. Reeves was a member of First United Methodist Church of Thomaston, the DAR and for the last seven years, the retirement community of Wesley Woods, where she enjoyed her family, friends and bridge.
Survivors include her son, Joel Farley (Jack) Reeves Jr. and daughter-in-law, Jean, of Atlanta; a daughter, Virginia Reeves Massing, of Rome; a sister-in-law, Mrs. James Bazemore of Butler; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Steven R. Rogers
Funeral services for Mr. Steven R. Rogers, 38, of Thomaston were held Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Clark Funeral Home Chapel in Hawkinsville with Dr. Don McClung and Dr. Kelly Pritchett officiating. Burial followed in Orange Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Rogers died Friday, May 23, 2003, in McDonough.
Clark Funeral Home in Hawkinsville, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Rogers was a native of Pulaski County and a member of the Hawkinsville, Ga. First Baptist Church. He was a commercial truck driver. he was a former E.M.T. and was a radiologic Technologist. He graduated from Hawkinsville High School in 1983.
Survivors include his. wife, Tanya Collins Rogers of Thomaston; his mother, Patricia Rogers of Hawkinsville and a sister Pamela Rogers Young of Hawkinsville; nieces, Anna young, Ashleigh Young and Amanda Young all of Hawkinsville; and a family pet, Prancer.
Harold Henry Schwartzkopf

Mr. Schwartzkopf died Saturday, May 24, 2003 at his residence.

Mr. Schwartzkopf was born in Unionville, Mich. He was retired from General Motors where he worked for over 30 years. Mr. Schwartzkopf was a member of The Rock Baptist Church.

Colista Valeta Hill Hallman
Private Memorial service for Mrs. Colista Valeta Hill Hallman, age 83, will be held in Southview Cemetery, Thomaston.
Mrs. Hallman died Friday, May 23, 2003 at Upson Regional Hospital in Thomaston, Georgia after an extended illness.
Hart's Mortuary, Macon, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hallman was born in Jakin, Early County, Georgia on February 13, 1920. She was the daughter of Elijah Theopholus Hill and Nellie Iola Jones Hill of Early County, Georgia. She was a retired L.P.N. and resided at Thomaston Health and Rehab. Her husband, Minter Gonzales Hallman, Jr., a daughter, Delphia Ann Hallman Smith and a son, Alton Lee Hallman preceded Mrs. Hallman in death.
Survivors include her sons and their wives Mr. Minter Gonzales (Linda Webb) Hallman, III of Douglasville, Georgia, Mr. Lawrence Edward (Linda Moore) Hallman of Thomaston,
Jack Donald
Funeral services for Mr. Jack Donald, 75, of Molena, were held Friday, July 18, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Meansville Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Bennett officiating.
Mr. Donald, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003.
Moody Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Donald was employed for 43 years in the Automatic Sprinkler Industry, retiring in 1990. Mr. Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mary Frances Boger Donald. He was a loving father and will be missed by family and friends.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Margie Donald of Fayetteville; a daughter, Jackie Collins of Molena; grandchildren, Amanda Layton of Molena and Dru Donald of Fayetteville; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Sophie Layton; sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Gary Echols of Morrow; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Doug and Ruby Boger of Ellijay, Eunice Davis of Monroe and Shirley and David Jackson of Temple; and several nieces and nephews.
