AUBURN - Mrs. Cecilia "Cella" Hoopaugh, 90, diedSaturday, October 14, 2000.
Mrs. Hoopaugh was bornJune 27, 1910, in Gwinnett County. She was a daughter of the late Rev. James W. Holt and Ada Shaw Holt.
Mrs. Hoopaugh retired from R & R Manufacturing Company in 1970. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.A. Hoopaugh.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 16, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home, Winder, with the Revs. Sammy Everett and Jerry Flanigan officiating. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. J.B. Wilkins officiating.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Loner, Auburn, and Dorothy Sims, Dacula; one sister, Ruby McHugh, Lawrenceville; five grandchildren, Cheryl Brooks, Cumming, David Sims, Lawrenceville, Shelia Loner, Douglas, Dianne Sims, Dacula, and Darlene Sims, Duluth; three great-grandchildren, David Brooks, Cumming, Crystal Sims, Alto, and Kristen Brooks, Cumming; three step-great-grandchildren, one step-great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

WINDER - Miss Janice McDougal, 49, diedFriday, October 13, 2000.
A lifelong resident of Barrow County, Miss McDougal was a daughter of Sally Wilkins McDougal, Winder, and the late Robie McDougal.
She was employed with Barrow Medical Center and was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 15, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Kenneth Brewer officiating. Burial was in the Cedar Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Gary Mathews, Winder; three nephews, Josh Mathews, Justin Mathews and Jeremy Mathews, all of Winder; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

MR. WISE
Indiana native
AUBURN - Jerry Wise Sr., 69, diedWednesday, October 11, 2000.
A native of Indiana, Mr. Wise had resided in Barrow County for the past 27 years. He was employed with Jeri Graphics Printing.
Mr. Wise was preceded in death by his mother, and step-father, Ruby and Charles Cole.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 13, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home, Winder. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Wise is survived by his wife, Marion Wise; two sons, Alexis Wise, Winder, and Jerry Wise Jr., Auburn; two daughters, Luanne Hughes and Caroline Ferguson, both of Auburn; one sister, Beverly Roselott, Orlando, Fla.; one brother, Charles Cole, Kokomo, Ind.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

MR. HORTON
U.S. Air Force veteran
ATHENS - Ret. Major Michael Vaughan Horton, U.S.A.F., 57, diedMonday, October 16, 2000.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 21, at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Athens, with the Rev. Dr. James E. Bowden and the Rev. Beecher Mathes officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.
After graduating from the University of Georgia in 1966, majoring in political science, Mr. Horton was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant with the U.S. Air Force. He served during the Vietnam War as a navigator on the KC-135s and as a radar navigator on the B-52 bomber. He also served as a strategic planner at SAC headquarters in Omaha, Neb.
Mr. Horton was an elder at Covenant Presbyterian Church and taught adult church school. He also served on the Nurture Committee of Northeast Georgia Presbytery and on the Justice for Women Committee.
Major Horton was very active in the Boy Scouts of America. He earned the Wood Badge as a volunteer and helped start Pack 96 in Athens in 1990. He continued as a registered Scouter with over 25 years in the Boy Scouts.
Mr. Horton is survived by his wife, the Rev. Jennifer M. Horton; sons and daughters-in-law, T/Sgt. Thomas V. Horton and Maria, Cannon A.F.B., New Mexico, and the Rev. David M. Horton and Beth, Buford; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Christian Amouroux, Buford; his mother, Mary Horton, Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, Gary Horton, Jacksonville, Fla.; four sisters, Dianne Horton, Marguerite Mytholar, Susan Moger and Amy Horton, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Tristan Amouroux and Joshua Horton.

MR. DALTON
'The Pepsi Man'
ATHENS - Milton Lamar Dalton Sr., 64, diedWednesday, October 11, 2000, at Athens Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Mr. Dalton was bornJune 4, 1936, in Oconee County. He was a son of George W. Dalton, Athens, and the late Doris Marie Bradshaw Dalton.
Mr. Dalton was retired from Pepsi Cola Company, with 41 years of service. He was known as "The Pepsi Man."
Mr. Dalton was a member of Brockton Road Baptist Church, Jefferson, where he served as a deacon.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 13, at Brockton Road Baptist Church with the Revs. Jesse Mealor and Bill Carpenter officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce. Mr. Dalton's sons and nephews served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were close friends and employees of Pepsi Cola Company.
In addition to his father, Mr. Dalton is survived by his wife, Marjorie Embry Dalton; four sons, Milton Lamar Dalton Jr., Danielsville, and David Perry Dalton, Benjamin John Dalton and Joseph Douglas Dalton, all of Athens; one daughter, Joyann Dalton Kellum, Comer; one brother, Donald E. Dalton, Athens; and six grandchildren.

REV. JACKSON
Minister
JEFFERSON - The Rev. Wayne Henderson Jackson, 74, diedFriday, October 13, 2000, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce. He had suffered with Parkinsan's Disease for many years.
Mr. Jackson was bornFebruary 26, 1926, in Carroll County. He was a son of the late E.T. and Willa Garrett Jackson.
The Rev. Jackson was the founder of Hope Haven Inc., a Christian rehabilitation center for men alcoholics, in 1962. He served as president and director. Mr. Jackson was also the administrator of Jackson Trail Christian School, which was founded in September 1975.
Mr. Jackson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed on Borneo in the Philippines. He received a bachelor of divinity degree from Bible Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and a bachelor of arts in Bible degree from Immanuel College, Atlanta. The Rev. Jackson pastored churches in Mansfield, Texas, Albany and East Point. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church, Forest Park.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 15, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, with Dr. Gerald Mitton and the Rev. R.H. Burcher officiating. Burial was in Woodbine Cemetery, Jefferson. Kirk Jackson, Blake Doster, Barry Coggin, Doug Landers, Jewell Todd and Don Todd served as pallbearers.
Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife, Bobbie Jackson; son, David Jackson (Debbie), Pendergrass, daughter, Melanie Doster (William), Clermont, and son, Rob Jackson (Kelly), Jefferson; three sisters, Mrs. Myrl Todd, Waco, Mrs. Joyce Landers, Fairburn, and Mrs. Bert Coggin, Palmetto; and five grandchildren, Kirk Jackson, Nicole, Blake and Hannah Doster and Erin Jackson.

Mrs. Clifford Melissa Dyer, 87, of Danielsville, diedSunday, August 29, 1999, at her residence.
Mrs. Dyer was bornJanuary 14, 1912 in Gainesville. She was a daughter of the late James and Gertrude Weaver Thomas.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 1, at Full Gospel Holiness Church with the Revs. Lester Haynes and Larry Dyer officiating. Burial was in the Nicholson Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Collie Dyer; three sons, Dewey Dyer, Blacksburg, S.C., Herschel Dyer, Danielsville, and Hubert Dyer, Lula; two daughters, Lucille Hooper, Nicholson, and Ethelene Meadow, Commerce; three brothers, Billy Thomas, Gainesville, and Bobby Thomas and Charlie Thomas, both of Baldwin; five sisters, Pearlee Armour, Belton, Vadie Armour, Dorothy King and Phoebe Thomas, all of Alto, and Winnie Ward, Seneca, N.C.; 25 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Thomas R. Hambrick
Thomas Ray Hambrick, 58, of Carnesville, diedWednesday, August 25, 1999, at Cobb Memorial Hospital.
A native of Franklin County, Mr. Hambrick was bornJuly 27, 1941. He was a son of William Henry and Lilia Hart Hambrick.
Mr. Hambrick served in the U.S. Army and National Guard for 23 years and was a retired truck mechanic. He was a member of Gordon Inter-faith Church. Mr. Hambrick was preceded in death by two brothers, Ed Hambrick and Dank Hambrick.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 27, in the B.D. Ginn Memorial Chapel of Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville, with the Revs. Truitt Brawner and Leon Carson officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Walters Hambrick; one son, Mike Hambrick, Carnesville; one daughter, Tina Greenmon, Lavonia; four brothers, Hugh Hambrick, Ila, Herbert Hambrick and Albert Hambrick, both of Royston, and Lewis Hambrick, Yelm, Wash.; four sisters, Evie Lee Phillips, Kannapolis, N.C., Eva Varner and Elvie Varner, both of Carnesville, and Elizabeth Harper, Royston; and one granddaughter.
