A native of Cochran, Mr. Lanier was a son of Will Harris, Atlanta, and Lula Mae Harris, Athens.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 28, at Lyonsville Baptist Church, Rayle, with the Rev. Lamar Davenport officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include one son, Martavio Bush, Colbert; one sister, Diana Beck, Cochran; and two brothers, Larry Lanier, Athens, and Bobby McLendon, Crawfordville.

Benny R. Wood
Benny R. Wood, 52, of Buford, father of Benjie Wood, Hull, diedFriday, August 27, 1999, at his residence following a brief illness.
Mr. Wood was a native of Buford. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Wood, and a brother, Cpl. Don Wood.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 30, in the chapel of Tapp Funeral Home, Buford, with the Rev. McHoyt Moore officiating. Burial was in Broadlawn Memorial Gardens, Buford.
Survivors, in addition to his son, include aunts, Jean Kilgore, Buford, and Peggy Litchfield, Lawrenceville; and uncles, Harold Johnson and Douglas Johnson.

James C. Fleeman
James Carlton Fleeman, 70, of Athens, diedFriday, August 27, 1999.
A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Fleeman was a son of the late Barry Ardeen Fleeman and Ora Belle Ogle.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War, and was a farmer.
Graveside services were held Saturday, August 28, in Grove Chapel Congregational Holiness Church with the Rev. Buford Lockman officiating.
Survivors include one sister, Gertrude Dailey, Winterville; one brother, J.W. Fleeman, Winterville; two half-sisters, Mary Dover, Colbert, and Martha Parham, Florida; and nieces and nephews.

Jerry M. Chambers
Jerry Michael Chambers, 49, of Commerce, diedTuesday, August 24, 1999, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Chambers was bornOctober 30, 1949. He was a son of J.T. and Imogene Chambers, Homer.
Mr. Chambers was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War.
Graveside services were held Thursday, August 26, in Banks County Memorial Gardens, Homer, with the Rev. Jerry Stowe officiating.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Sharon Chambers; two step-sons, Greg Abernathy, Gillsville, and Jermy Abernathy, Gainesville; and two sisters, Rita Chambers and Judy Miller, both of Homer.

Mrs. Odessa Veal Smallwood, 86, of Lilburn, formerly of Commerce, diedSaturday, August 28, 1999, at Eastside Medical Center.
A native of Clarke County, Mrs. Smallwood was bornSeptember 14, 1912. She was a daughter of the late Arthur and Roxyanna Grey Veal.
Mrs. Smallwood was a homemaker and a member of Morning Star Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Smallwood.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 29, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Mark A. Poston Sr. officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews.

Charlie E. Kennedy
Charlie Edward Kennedy, 57, of Maysville, diedSunday, August 15, 1999, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
A native of Cordele, Mr. Kennedy was bornApril 13, 1942. He was a son of Mary Sego Speight, Maysville, and the late Charlie L. Kennedy.
Mr. Kennedy was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, a member of Local #926 Operating Engineers and of Local #302 Seattle Washington.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 17, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Ron Glaze and James Richter officiating. Burial was in Banks County Memorial Gardens, Homer.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include one son, Chuck Kennedy, Dallas; three daughters, Stephanie Kennedy and Vickie Logan, both of Dallas, and Scarlett McClellan, Hiram; two brothers, L.J. Kennedy, Crescent City, Fla., and Ronald Oshs, Maysville; two sisters, Dorothy Smith, Monroe, and Evelyn Tomlin, Jonesboro; and three grandchildren.

He had worked as a heavy equipment operator.

Mr. Ray was bornAugust 9, 1913, in Banks County. He was a son of the late George Jeff and Mary Elizabeth Lewallen Ray.
Mr. Ray was a cattle and poultry farmer and was a member of Homer Baptist Church, where he served as a member of the board of deacons.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 14, at Homer Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Crabbe, Dwight Oakes and Lamar Purcell officiating. Burial was in Banks Memorial Gardens, Homer.
Survivors include his wife, Jimmie Pritchett Ray; one son, Leon Ray, Homer; two daughters, Joyce R. Boswell and Jane Hardman, both of Homer; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Standridge was bornSeptember 17, 1920, in Habersham County. She was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Sarah Estelle Elrod McAlister.
Mrs. Standridge was a homemaker and of the Holiness denomination. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Leco Standridge, daughter-in-law, Brenda Shockley Standridge, and brothers, Clarence, Lawrence, Albert, Tommy and Sudie McAlister.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 16, at Cornelia Congregational Holiness Church with the Rev. Ronald Mote officiating. Burial was in the Zion Interdenominational Church cemetery.
Survivors include one son, W.J. Standridge, Cleveland; one sister, Mary Elzoria Kinsey, Cornelia; and three grandchildren, Stacey Standridge, Tracey Standridge Davenport and Andy Standridge, all of Cleveland.

Mr. Beck was a poultry worker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Adams Beck.
Funeral services were held Thursday, November 11, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Dennis Kesler and Allen Seagraves officiating. Burial was in the Nicholson Cemetery.
Survivors include one step-son, Darrell Brooks, Hull; two brothers, Curtis Beck, Jefferson, and Rufus Beck, Commerce; five sisters, Sara Covington and Eddie Pearle Wiley, both of Homer, Vernell Evans, Nicholson, and Era Belle Maney and Mamie Turner, both of Commerce; a number of grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
