REV. GINN
Commerce native
SYLVA - The Rev. Charles P. Ginn, 82, diedTuesday, November 2, 1999, at his residence following an extended illness.
A native of Commerce, the Rev. Ginn had lived in Jackson County for the past 66 years. He was a son of the late Hamilton Franklin and Dovie Lou Adams Ginn.
The Rev. Ginn was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. He was a retired Baptist minister serving several churches in western North Carolina for the past 45 years.
He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Ginn, four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were held Thursday, November 4, at Sylva First Baptist Church, of which he was a member. The Revs. Ed Beddingfield and Dr. John Bunn officiated. Burial was in Keener Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Allen Ginn; two sons, Lloyd Allen Ginn, Chicago, and Phil Ginn, Boone; one sister, Bessie Maxwell, Commerce; and four grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Together We Grow, c/o Sylva First Baptist Church, P.O. Drawer 1024, Sylva, N.C. 28779, Hospice, 132 Sylva Plaza, Sylva, N.C. 28779, or Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3600, Boone, NC 28607.

MRS. MAUGHON
Housewife
WINDER - Mrs. Johnnie D. Maughon, 75, diedSunday, November 7, 1999.
Mrs. Maughon was bornin in Gwinnett County, a daughter of the late Ellis and Odessa Kennedy Phillips.
She had resided in Barrow County for most of her life and was a housewife and of the Baptist denomination.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 9, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Kenneth Deaton officiating. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include her husband, H.H. "Rab" Maughon; two daughters, Janet Martin and Melinda Johnson, both of Winder; two sisters, Cecil Robertson and Jackie Parham, both of Winder; one brother, Richard Phillips, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Carter Funeral Home, Winder, was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. CASPER
Mother of countian
WATKINSVILLE - Mrs. Cora M. Casper, 89, diedWednesday, November 3, 1999, at a local hospital.
A native of Union County, Mrs. Casper was bornSeptember 16, 1910. She was a daughter of the late Grayson and Dillia Holbrooks Jackson.
Mrs. Casper had lived in the Athens area for most of her life and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sybil Casper Skelton, and a son, Robert Casper.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 7, in the chapel of Bridges Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. Larry Holmes officiating. Burial was in the Chapel Christian Church cemetery. Mrs. Casper's grandsons served as pallbearers.
Survivors include daughter, Ann Finch, Athens; son, Victor Casper, Watkinsville; sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Sara Casper, Athens, William and Johnnie Casper, Danielsville, and Gene and Patty Casper, Nicholson; daughter-in-law, Diane Casper, Bogart; 13 grandsons, Victor W. Casper, Benny Casper, David Casper, Sam Casper, Grayson Casper, Jeff Rice, Mark Rice, Jimmy Finch, Robert W. Casper, Adam Casper, Marty Casper, Micheal Casper and Jackie Pace; 10 granddaughters, Marcie Boone, Barbara Lapczynski, Wendy Gunthorp, Paula Caudell, Lacrecia Bradshaw, Teresa Fleeman, Sandy Shaw, Loree Looney, Deborah White and Susan Phillips; 36 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Bridges Funeral Home, Athens, was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. DUNSON
Former teacher
SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Mrs. Margaret Shankle Dunson, 92, diedMonday, November 8, 1999, at Skylyn Health Center.
Mrs. Dunson was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. L.P. Shankle, Commerce.
She received her undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Georgia, teaching for 25 years in Athens and for six years in Greensboro, N.C. public schools. Mrs. Dunson was active in educational and cultural organizations and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Athens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Linton Reese Dunson, Athens.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, November 11, in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce, with the Rev. Frank Granger officiating.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Linton R. Dunson Jr., Spartanburg, S.C.; sisters, Rebecca Shankle, Commerce, and Harriet Wright, Milledgeville; brother, Col. Willard Shankle, Milledgeville; and granddaughters, Katharine and Julia Dunson, Spartanburg, S.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 3211 Reidville Road, Ste. E, Spartanburg, S.C. 29301.
J.F. Floyd Mortuary, Spartanburg, S.C., is in charge of arrangements.

MRS. STINSON
Homemaker
COMMERCE - Mrs. Nellie Bray Stinson, 86, a resident of the BJC Nursing Home, formerly of Thomasville, N.C., diedThursday, October 28, 1999, at BJC Medical Center.
Mrs. Stinson was bornAugust 22, 1913 in Banks County. She was a daughter of the late Hubert Cleveland Bray and Cora Bray.
Mrs. Stinson was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Thomasville, N.C. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard Stinson, on January 15, 1990.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 30, in the chapel of J.C. Green & Sons, Thomasville, N.C. Burial was in Thomasville City Cemetery, North Carolina.
Survivors include nephew and wife, John and Angela McEver, Commerce; and nieces, Mrs. Lois Segars, Tampa, Fla., and Mrs. Nancy Freeman, Carrollton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 9 Cramer Street, Thomasville, NC 27360.

MRS. WISE
Commerce native
COMMERCE - Mrs. Joyce S. Wise, 77, diedWednesday, October 27, 1999, at her residence.
Mrs. Wise was bornSeptember 14, 1922 in Commerce. She was a daughter of the late Carlton and Lessie Keesee Massey.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 29, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Elwyn Wilbanks officiating. Burial was in the Cabin Creek Baptist Church cemetery, Commerce.
Mrs. Wise is survived by one son, Joel Wise, Athens; and one brother, Lowell Massey, Commerce.
Ivie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. MOULDER
Jackson County native
WINDER - James D. Moulder, 72, diedSaturday, October 30, 1999.
A native of Jackson County, Mr. Moulder was a retired textile manufacturing employee. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church, Hoschton.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 2, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Doyle Simms officiating. Burial was in the Sharon Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Moulder; daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Don Dockery, Auburn; daughter, Jo Moon, Watkinsville; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Terri Moulder, Braselton; grandchildren, Candice Snowden and Brian and Paula Moulder; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. CHILDS
Retired security guard
ATHENS - Frank Childs Sr., 66, diedThursday, October 28, 1999.
A native of Clarke County, Mr. Childs was a son of the late James Willie and Lenora Hendrix Childs.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a retired security guard with the E.P.A. Mr. Childs was preceded in death by his wife, Clarsy C. Childs, and a daughter, Jennie Marie Crowell.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 31, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Elmer Butler officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Wendall Evans, Jeff Evans, Mike Tittle, Lee Benton, Robert Cunningham and Mike Mattox served as pallbearers.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Tittle, Winterville, and Betty Jean Smith, Jefferson; three sons, Billy Trammell, Colton, Calif., Curtis Lee Childs, Athens, and Frank Childs Jr., Newnan; two sisters, Frances Maddox, Bogart, and Nettie Bradshaw, Jefferson; two brothers, Otis Childs, Athens, and James R. Childs, Hull; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Brown Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. MURRAY
Moons Grove Baptist Church member
ATHENS - Mrs. Sara Elizabeth Murray, 75, of Athens, diedThursday, October 28, 1999.
A native of Oglethorpe County, Mrs. Murray was a daughter of the late Willie Edward and Mattie Mae Blew Wills.
She had been employed with Thomas Textile as a sewing machine operator and was a member of Moons Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Murray was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Murray, two sons, John Junior Murray and John Edward Murray, and a daughter, Dorothy Jean Murray.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 30, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Revs. Elmer Butler and B.G. Miller and the Rev. Haney officiating. Burial was in the Moons Grove Baptist Church cemetery. Nelson Calloway, Wayne Anderson, Allen Cowart, Larry Evans, Lamar Evans and Allen Gunter served as pallbearers.
Survivors include one daughter, Martha Taylor, Athens; two sisters, Gladis Mann, Nicholson, and Betty Calloway, Winterville; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Brown Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. KEEFER
Former Maysville resident
INDIAN HARBOUR BEACH, FLA. - Clarence F. "Franz" Keefer, 80, formerly of Maysville, diedWednesday, October 27, 1999, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Keefer was bornin Wheeling, W.Va. He was a veteran of World War II, having served during the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Keefer moved to Brevard County from Maysville in 1998. He worked as a horticulturist, nursery man and cabinet maker.
Private funeral services were held.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Keefer; one son, Franz "Biron" Keefer, Indian Harbour Beach, Fla.; and one sister, Beatrice "Jane" Keefer Lowe, Wheeling, W.Va.
Beach Funeral Home, Indian Harbour Beach, Fla., was in charge of arrangements.
