MR. STOREY
U.S. Army veteran
JEFFERSON - Taylor Dickson Storey, 88, diedSunday, October 31, 1999, at his residence following a brief illness.
Mr. Storey was bornNovember 11, 1910 in Jackson County. He was a son of the late Clifford Taylor and Eddie Dickson Storey.
Mr. Storey was a graduate of Martin Institute and a graduate of the Citadel in Charleston, S.C. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II, and received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
Mr. Storey retired from the Jackson Electric Membership Corporation, with more than 40 years of service, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jefferson. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Jefferson Rotary Club.
Mr. Storey was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Parris Storey, and a son, Taylor Dickson Storey Jr.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 3, at the First United Methodist Church of Jefferson with the Rev. Gary Whatley officiating. Burial was in Woodbine Cemetery, Jefferson. Bill Ormsby and Mr. Dickson's grandsons served as pallbearers.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Caroline Storey Huff and Adam Huff, Athens; daughter, Posy Storey Riddle, Athens; two sisters, Mabeth Storey Haley, Jefferson, and Joyce Storey Etheridge, Arcade; grandchildren, William Dwight Howard Jr., Caroline Howard Newhouse, Clifford Hardin Howard, Timothy Lee Howard, Joel Dickson Riddle, Thomas Ray Riddle Jr., Dorothy Parris Riddle and Sarah Catherine Riddle; great-grandchildren, Sadie, Cameron, Taylor, Zachary, Erin, Tena, Samantha and Morgan; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Jefferson, P.O. Box 96, Jefferson, GA 30549, or to the Jefferson City School System Foundation, P.O. Box 507, Jefferson, GA 30549.
Jackson Funeral Home, Jefferson, was in charge of arrangements.

MR. WADDELL
U.S. Army veteran
HULL - Van Leeman "Red" Waddell, 82, diedMonday, November 1, 1999.
A native of Jackson County, Mr. Waddell was a son of the late Marion Boyd and Lillie Jones Waddell.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II, and was a retired auto mechanic. Mr. Waddell was a member of Central Baptist Church, Athens.
He was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Boyd Waddell.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 4, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Dennis Kesler officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Paul J. Waddell, John M. Barton, Cindy L. Barton, Jason Sartain, Matt Sartain and Charles Fouche will serve as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife, Volina Sue Kelley Waddell; two daughters, Victoria Sartain, Hull, and Beatrice Fitzpatrick, Commerce; one son, Paul Waddell, Hull; three sisters, Frances Griffeth, Watkinsville, Annis Haggard, Winder, and Robbie Haggard, Commerce; one brother, Walter Waddell, Nicholson; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Brown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

BALDWIN - William Brooks Carey, infant son of Melissa Dawn Brooks and Brian Keith Carey, Baldwin, diedSaturday, October 30, 1999, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville.
Carey was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandfather, Bobby K. Stallings, and paternal great-grandfather, William Howard Carey.
Graveside services were held Monday, November 1, in the Providence Baptist Church cemetery, Batesville, with the Revs. Tony Kemp and Don Drawdy officiating.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his maternal grandmother, Lynn Stallings Turpin, Gainesville; maternal grandfather and step-grandmother, Joe and Myrtis Brooks, Batesville; paternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Faye and Lamar Cochran, Commerce; paternal grandfather and step-grandmother, Norman and Joyce Boswell, Maysville; maternal great-grandmother, Ruth Waddell Stallings, Clarkesville; paternal great-grandparents, J.R. and Rosemary Brooks, Lakemont; and paternal great-grandmother, Elizabeth Carey, Baldwin.
Barrett Funeral Home, Cleveland, was in charge of arrangements.

MAYSVILLE - Mrs. Frances Helen Wiley, 53, diedWednesday, November 3, 1999, at her residence.
Mrs. Wiley was bornAugust 26, 1946, in Carnesville. She was a daughter of the late Ed and Mae Belle Cotton Brock.
Mrs. Wiley was a homemaker.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 5, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Harvey Smith officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Cemetery, Maysville.
Survivors include her husband, Jessie Sonny Wiley; one son, Doug Wiley, Homer; one daughter, Eva Embrick, Maysville; two brothers, Calvin Brock, Homer, and Winfred Brock, Maysville; three sisters, Dorothy Ballenger, Commerce, and Lutrelle Parr and Ruby Roberts, both of Maysville; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Ivie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

WINDER - Mrs. Reba Farr, 85, diedSaturday, October 30, 1999.
Mrs. Farr was a native of Lincoln County, Tenn.
She was a homemaker and a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church, Winder. Mrs. Farr was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Roy Farr, in 1978.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 2, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, Fayetteville, Tenn., with the Rev. Billy Langford officiating. Burial was in Kirkland Cemetery, Fayetteville.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, James and Deverda Farr, Winder; two sisters, Mrs. Gracie Holman and Mrs. Elner Honea, both of Fayetteville, Tenn.; grandson, James Alan Farr, Winder; granddaughter, Janet Ash, Winder; four great-granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carter Funeral Home, Winder, was in charge of local arrangements.

WINDER - Mrs. Evelyn Collins, 69, diedSaturday, October 30, 1999.
Mrs. Collins was a native of Barrow County.
She had worked as a retail sales clerk and attended Union Grove Baptist Church, Auburn.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 1, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Donnie Pennington officiating. Burial was in the Appalachee Baptist Church cemetery, Auburn.
Survivors include two daughters, Kay Lewis, Lawrenceville, and Teresa Butler, Statham; one sister, Mae Gower, Florida; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Carter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. CRAWFORD

ATHENS - Bryce Crawford, 70, diedSunday, October 24, 1999.
A native and lifelong resident of Clarke County, Mr. Crawford was a son of the late Walter D. and Darris Eckles Crawford.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Athens, where he was active in the Tuck Bible Class. Mr. Crawford was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Athens.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 27, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, West, with Dr. Bill Britt and the Rev. Grady Wigley officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park. Michael Chapeau, Charles Chapeau, Bobby Matthews, Bob Turner, C.L. Potts and Donald Barnett served as pallbearers.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Gray, New Orleans, La., and Kayce Jones, Marietta; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Armand L. Chapeau, Griffin; five nieces and nephews and one great-nephew.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital, c/o Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation Dept., 1680 Tullie Circle NE, Atlanta, GA 30329-2321, Attention: Pearl Berry.

MAYSVILLE - Mrs. Bonnie Sue Garrison Carlan, 62, diedWednesday, September 15, 1999, at her residence.
A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Carlan was a daughter of the late Olen B. and Mayola Coffee Garrison.
She was a schoolteacher and homemaker and was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 18, at Solid Rock Baptist Church with the Revs. Ralph Smith, Dean Bryant, James Ransom, Marshal Garmon and Terry Hagwood officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Swayne Carlan; daughters and sons-in-law, Cretia and Mark Ariail, Carnesville, Lawayne and Jason Oliver, Lula, and Amanda and Charlie Bowen, Maysville; daughter and fiancé, Jennifer Carlan and Jim Kent, both of Maysville; one sister, Olivia Slocum, Dublin; and four grandchildren, Ashley, Lindsey, Alisha and Haden Ariail, all of Carnesville.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. SHUBERT

COMMERCE - Mrs. Lena Trotter Shubert, 80, diedSaturday, September 18, 1999, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
A native of White County, Mrs. Shubert was bornMay 20, 1919. She was a daughter of the late Clarence and U'Dell Farmer Trotter.
Mrs. Shubert was a homemaker and of the Baptist denomination. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pledger Shubert.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 20, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. James J. McLendon officiating. Burial was in the Silver Shoals Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include three daughters, Betty Brookshire and Dell Denton, both of Homer, and Dixie Dilbeck, Maysville; three brothers, Carlton Trotter, Ohio, Grady Trotter, Gainesville, and Vernon Trotter, Commerce; three sisters, Geneva Gibson, Ann Humphrey and Nell McCarty, all of Gainesville; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Little-Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
