Lottie ‘Sparkie’ Rhoden
Mrs. Lottie “Sparkie” Rhoden, 73, of Winder, diedSunday, April 6, 2003.
Born in Barrow County, Mrs. Rhoden was a daughter of the late Nathan G. Bagwell and Florence M. England Bagwell, and the wife of the late Raynor Rhoden.
She was of the Holiness denomination.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, in Smith Memory Chapel of Smith Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Jimmy Glaze officiating. Burial was in Alta Vista Cemetery, Gainesville.
Mrs. Rhoden is survived by one brother, Richard Bagwell, Mitchell; two sisters, Eva Lou Gable, Colbert, and Ruth Cole, Hoschton; and several nieces and nephews.

Tony D. Lucas
Tony Dwayne Lucas, 36, of Hull, diedMonday, May 19, 2003.
A native of Atlanta, Mr. Lucas was a son of the late William Thomas and Carol Roach Lucas.
He was a painter.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 23, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Kenneth Dillard officiating. Burial was in Howington Cemetery, Nicholson.
Mr. Lucas is survived by his wife, Stefanie Brooks Lucas, of the home; son, Tony Blake Lucas, of the home; daughters, Heather Lucas, Miranda Lucas and Clarissa Lucas, all of Anderson, S.C.; brother, William Thomas Lucas III, Braselton; sisters, Katrina Talley, Oxford, Ala., and Elizabeth Lucas, Atlanta; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Obie S. Williams
Mrs. Obie S. Williams, 77, of Commerce, diedSunday, May 25, 2003.
Born in Madison County, Mrs. Williams was the daughter of the late J.O.M. and Bessie Hardeman Smith.
She was retired from the Federal Building in Athens, where she was employed with the Soil Conservation Department, and was a member of Ila Baptist Church. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Williams.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, in Ila Cemetery with the Rev. Phil Parks officiating.
Mrs. Williams is survived by three sons, Ronnie Williams, Danny Williams and David Williams, all of Commerce.

Wilma J. Samples
Mrs. Wilma J. Prather Samples, 66, of Jefferson, diedMonday, May 26, 2003, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce, of a sudden illness.
Mrs. Samples was bornMarch 29, 1937, in Clarke County, a daughter of the late Odell and Mattie Madison Prather.
She was a homemaker and a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Samples was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Samples.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, in the White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery, Jefferson, with the Rev. Don Harber officiating.
Survivors include three daughters, Pee Wee Dyer, Blacksburg, S.C., Debra Smith, Virginia, and Susan Voyles, Jefferson; three sons, Frankie Samples, Ila, Gary Samples, Danielsville, and Steve Samples, Jefferson; two sisters, Lemma Ladd, Augusta, and Alma Self, Commerce; three brothers, Claude Prather, Quinlin, Texas, Richard Prather, Texas, and Wayne Prather, Arizona; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Thomas was bornJanuary 19, 1979, in Jackson County, a daughter of Mike Ingram and Judy Turpin Roberts, both of Commerce.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist denomination.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 25, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas Duncan officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thomas is survived by her husband, William Thomas, Commerce; son, Chaz Thomas, Commerce; daughter, Bryanna Thomas, Commerce; sister, Amanda Ledford, Danielsville; step-brother, Derrick Minish, Commerce; and grandfather, Dwight Ingram, Commerce.

Trudy L. McKeever
Mrs. Trudy Lee Johnson McKeever, 74, of Commerce, diedSaturday, May 24, 2003.
Mrs. McKeever was bornJune 8, 1928, in Madison County, a daughter of the late Henry and Lillie Johnson.
She was a homemaker and a member of Fairfield Baptist Church. Moving to Commerce, Mrs. McKeever joined Warren Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was an active member until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Jean Pittman and Kathryn E. Almond.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce, with the Rev. Dough Childers officiating.
Survivors include two daughters, Lillie Ann Almond, Commerce, and Estelle Nowells, Decatur; three sisters, Lula Colbert, Danielsville, Rosa Jones, Athens, and Ida Brown, Raleigh, N.C.; two brothers, James Johnson and Durham Johnson, Philadelphia; an aunt, Ann Chappell, Comer; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Thomas N. Boggs
Thomas Neese Boggs diedNovember 26, 2002, in Nashville, Tenn. A service of interment of ashes will be held in the Dan-ielsville Cemetery at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2003.
Mr. Boggs was bornin Danielsville on October 27, 1916, to James Hoyt and Janie Lee Boggs. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Susan, his brother, Harold, and his first wife, Jane.
Mr. Boggs was employed for many years by LeTourneau Westinghouse and lived in Toccoa, where he and Jane raised two children, Janna and Neese. In 1964, the family moved to Peoria, Ill., where Mr. Boggs became vice president of Industrial Relations for WABCO (American Standard Co.). In 1970, Mr. and Mrs. Boggs retired to Lake Hartwell.
Mr. Boggs marriedLillian C. Appleby, of Nashville, Tenn., in 1984.
He is survived by his wife, two children, three grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Charles Thad Barnett, 32, of Nicholson, diedSaturday, May 24, 2003, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Barnett was bornDecember 4, 1970, in Jackson County, a son of Mary Lou Sanders Barnett, Nicholson, and the late Sport Barnett. He was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Barnett.
Mr. Barnett was employed as a tile setter.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, at Antioch United Methodist Church with the Revs. Richard Cathy and David Bowen officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include a daughter, Brittany Barnett, Nicholson; and three brothers, Todd Barnett and Trey Barnett, both of Nicholson, and Tony Barnett, Commerce.

Annie R. Chapman
Mrs. Annie Ruth Maddox Cary Chapman, 79, of Royston, diedTuesday, May 27, 2003, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville.
Mrs. Chapman was bornAugust 13, 1923, in DeKalb County, a daughter of the late Curtis and Millie Nett Lowe Maddox.
She was a homemaker and of the Methodist denomination. Mrs. Chapman was preceded in death by her first husband, Carval A. Cary, a brother, Joe D. Maddox, and a sister, Geraldine Silvey.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 29, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. Wendall Hanley and Randall Porter officiating. Burial will be in Cary Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Chapman’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Chapman is survived by her husband, Boyce S. Chapman, Royston; four sons, Herbert Carey, Commerce, Anthony Cary and Ronald Carey, both of Royston, and David Chapman, Sandy Springs, S.C.; four daughters, Janice Isbell, Royston, Ann Cary Monnier, Hartwell, Marie Carey Chapman, Sandy Springs, S.C., and Sandra Cary Stephenson, Danielsville; two sisters, Kathleen Maddox, Hull, and Mary Evelyn Maddox Porter, Commerce; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

The family is at their respective homes and was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ms. Ruby Lee Gunter, 70, of Colbert, diedFriday, May 23, 2003.
A native of Jackson County, Ms. Gunter was a daughter of Lila O’Kelley, Arnoldsville, and the late Claud W. O’Kelley.

Survivors, in addition to her mother, include two daughters, Roxanne Gunter, Winterville, and Judy Lance, Colbert; one son, Walter E. Gunter; four sisters, Frances Shiflet, Hartwell, Sue Melton and Peggy Smith, both of Hull, and Betty Human, Royston; two brothers, George O’Kelley, Tignall, and Johnny O’Kelley, Colbert; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
