Franklin R. Prather, 66, of Watkinsville, diedTuesday, May 20, 2003.
Mr. Prather was a son of the late Oscar and Bernice Willoughby Prather.
He retired from General Cable after 29 years of service and was of the Baptist denomination.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 23, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, with the Revs. Buford Lockman and Lamar Scarborough officiating. Burial was in Oconee Memorial Park. Mitch Taylor, Chuck Taylor, Michael Moore, Tommy Ayers, Travis Haley, Steve Ayers, Greg Poulnot and Randy Taylor served as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Faye Prather; three daughters, Debra Hanley and Pamela Taylor, both of Watkinsville, and Melinda Moore, Danielsville; two sisters, Alice Goondall and Kathy Prather, both of Watkinsville; two brothers, Herbert Prather, Sansford, Fla., and Larry Prather, Winterville; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Connie D. Fowler
Mrs. Connie Darlene Fowler, 43, of Crawford, diedTuesday, May 20, 2003.
A native of Oconee County, Mrs. Fowler was a daughter of Melvin and Agnes Self Craft, Bishop.
She was of the Baptist denomination.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 23, in Evergreen Memorial Park with the Revs. Billy Fowler and Curtis Parker officiating.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fowler is survived by her husband, Larry J. Fowler, Crawford; son, Jeremy S. Fowler, Crawford; step-daughter, Tracie Tittle, Athens; step-sons, Donnie P. Fowler and Terry W. Fowler, both of Danielsville; sister, Janet Marx, Bishop; brother, Dennis Craft, Bogart; six grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Larry J. Tiller
Larry James Tiller, 54, of Kernersville, N.C., diedWednesday, May 21, 2003, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Mr. Tiller was bornAugust 18, 1948, in Athens, a son of James Fred Tiller and Ruth Tucker Tiller.
He was employed as a plant manager with Alma Desk for 24 years and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. A veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, Mr. Tiller served in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Bronze and Silver Star. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
On October 2, 1976, he marriedMarla Byrum, who survives of the home.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Pastor Russ Reaves officiating. Burial was in the Floral Garden Park Cemetery with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Shelly Henry, and husband, Travis, High Point, N.C., and Julie Culler, and husband, Brian, Thomasville, N.C.; one son, Larry Brock Tiller, and wife, Traci, Kernersville, N.C.; one brother, Dennis Tiller, and wife, Diarene, Comer; an uncle and aunt, Dean and Hazel Troup, Fitzgerald; and several nieces and nephews.

John Gilder
John Gilder, 80, of Danielsville, diedThursday, June 12, 2003, at Athens Regional Medical Center of an extended illness.
Mr. Gilder was a native of Rochester, N.Y. He was the son of the late Walter and Annie Fowler Gilder.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Gilder was a retired lab technician with St. Regis Paper Co. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Smith Gilder.
A memorial service was held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 15, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Russell Page officiating.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Rischpater, Naples, N.Y.; daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Bill Hardie, Danielsville; four grandsons and three great-grandsons.

Thelma Conwell
Mrs. Thelma Beard Conwell, 77, of Comer, diedFriday, June 13, 2003, at Winder Health Care Center.
Mrs. Conwell was bornin Madison County on October 18, 1925. She was a daughter of the late K.O. (Buck) Beard and the late Ella Mae Carithers Beard.
Mrs. Conwell had worked at the Blue Bell Manufacturing Company and was a member of David’s Home Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Vernon (Jim) Conwell, a grandson, Brian Pass, and a sister, Nell Spelce.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 15, at David’s Home Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Douglas Conwell officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Owsley, Hoschton; son, Wesley Conwell, Comer; sisters, Pauline Berryman, Danielsville, Faye Caudelle, Royston, Onida Horne, Hull, Gatha Kerr, Carnesville, Revonda Gabriel, Crawford, and Grace Carey, Thomasville, N.C.; brothers, Mitchell Beard and Wendell Beard, both of Danielsville, and Kenneth Beard and Ray Beard, both of Royston; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Charles Ferguson
Charles Randolph Ferguson, 51, of Ila, diedFriday, June 13, 2003.
A lifelong resident of Madison County, Mr. Ferguson was a son of Charles W. and Marilyn Tucker Ferguson, Hull.
He was a 1970 graduate of Madison County High School and attended the University of Georgia. Mr. Ferguson was employed with Kroger for over 20 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a former member of Red Hills Flyers.
Mr. Ferguson was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Ferguson.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 16, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville. Burial was in Danielsville Memorial Gardens. Jordan Marable, Chris Parten, Scott Ferguson, Danny Seymour, Ricky Allen and Casey Minish served as pallbearers.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ferguson is survived by his wife, Janet Ferguson; two daughters, Heather McCart Parten, Carlton, and Amanda Lynn Ferguson, Ila; two sisters, Kelli Ferguson Marable, Danielsville, and Karen Ferguson Seymour, Hull; two grandchildren, Kaeden Parten and Kyler Parten; and several nieces and nephews.

Mark Randolph Waldroup, 45, of Com-merce, diedThursday, June 12, 2003, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Athens, of an extended illness.
A native of Jackson County, Mr. Waldroup was a son of Ralph Waldroup, Commerce, and the late Willie Christine Wood Waldroup.
He was a construction worker and of the Baptist denomination.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Lonnie Bennett officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors, in addition to his father, include his wife, Mary A. Waldroup, of the home; one son, Jeremy David Waldroup, Danielsville; two daughters, Jill Waldroup, Commerce, and Jessica Waldroup, Danielsville; two brothers, Jimmy Waldroup and Mike Waldroup, both of Ila; one sister, Jo Ann (Jody) Scoggins, Ila; one grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Lottie James
Mrs. Lottie Dell Bryant James, 83, of Hudson, Fla., diedSunday, June 8, 2003, at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point.
Mrs. James was bornin Franklin County on May 2, 1920. She was a daughter of the late Thomas F. and Jeanie Phillips Bryant.
Mrs. James was a homemaker and a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Hudson, Fla. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Ward.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 13, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston. Burial was in the Zidon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Elco James, Perry, Fla., and Edward James, Hudson, Fla.; sisters, Ossie Mae Bowman, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Pauline Parham and Gladys McGarity, both of Royston; six grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ruth West Bailey, 71, of Toccoa, diedWednesday, June 11, 2003.
A native of Madison County, Mrs. Bailey was a daughter of the late Bill Shelt and Minnie Sue Austin West.
She was a homemaker and a member of Mullins Ford Baptist Church. Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by a daughter, Myra Bailey Payne.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Whitlock Mortuary with Dr. Jack Gatlin, the Rev. Roger Elrod and Bill Bailey officiating. Burial was in the Mullins Ford Baptist Church Cemetery. Terry Bailey, George Bailey, Bob Bailey, Bill Bailey, Shawn Bailey, Bradley Payne, David Tugman and Daniel Tugman served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Bailey is survived by her husband, Howard T. Bailey; a daughter, Gloria Tugman, Toccoa; sons, Terry Bailey, George Bailey and Bob Bailey, all of Toccoa, and Bill Bailey, Hull; sisters, Maude Ramsey, Lavonia, and Elsie Taylor, Pasadena, Texas; 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Helen R. Tasker
Mrs. Helen R. Tasker, 89, of Athens, diedMonday, June 16, 2003.
A native of Russell County, Va., Mrs. Tasker was a daughter of the late William and Maude Harrison Richardson.
She was a homemaker and a member of Potsdam United Methodist Church, Potsdam, Ohio. She had been a resident of the Athens area since 1980.
Mrs. Tasker was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Franklin Tasker.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, West, with the Rev. Jerry Varnado officiating.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Luttrell, Loganville; sons, Alan Tasker, Hull, John Tasker, Winter Park, Fla., Jeff Tasker, Winter Haven, Fla., and Ron Tasker, Orlando, Fla.; sisters, Lola Brust and Erleen Cash, both of Englewood, Ohio, and Bernice Jennings, Williamsburg, Va.; brother, Harry Richardson, Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren, Christie Ellis, High Shoals, Scott Tasker, Marietta, Brian Tasker, Statham, Chad Luttrell, Loganville, and Steve Tasker, Orlando, Fla.; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
