Mrs. Marian Bray Hollis, 73, of Colbert, diedFriday, November 28, 2003, in Lititz, Pa.
Born in Atlanta, Mrs. Hollis was the daughter of the late Louis G. and Inez Voyles Bray.
“She was a member of Airstream Travel Club for 20 years and loved to travel and spend time with family and friends,” it was stated. “She was an exceptional decorator and gardener and was known fondly as Memaw and Sunshine.”
Mrs. Hollis was a kindergarten teacher for five years and a member of New Hope Worship Center, Danielsville, where she served as a Sunday School teacher.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 1, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Revs. Dayton Logan, Dennis Kesler and Michael Bray officiating. Burial was in Fairview Memorial Gardens. Neil R. Shelley Jr., David Dick, Jason Bray, Donald Maddux, Mark Donaldson and David Carey served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Hollis is survived by her husband, Esca F. Hollis; sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley R. Hollis Sr. and Karen Hollis, Lititz, Pa., and Wyndell E. and Gail Hollis, Griffin; granddaughters and husbands, Dawn and Neil Shelley, Lititz, Pa., and Heidi and David Dick, Griffin; granddaughter, April Botterbusch, Lititz, Pa.; grandson, S. Ray Hollis Jr., Lancaster, Pa.; eight great-grandchildren, Zakary Shelley, Alexis Botterbusch, Kalena Shelley, Makayla Hedgecoth, Samantha Botterbusch, Taylor Shelley, Madison Hollis and Claudia Dick; sister, Peggy Bray Timms, Comer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Timothy and Catherine Bray, Winder, and the Rev. Michael and Mrs. Lavon Bray, Tyler, Texas; special niece and husband, Brenda and Donald Maddux, Comer; special cousins, Joan Byce and Farrell Nash, Winder; and many other relatives and friends.

James Bray
James Clifford Bray, 59, of Colbert, diedMonday, December 1, 2003.
A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Bray was a son of the late Chandler and Rubye Haynes Bray.
He was employed with Bi-Lo as a customer service manager, working in the Royston, Commerce and Athens locations for over 23 years. He was of the Baptist denomination.
Mr. Bray was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Bray and Kenneth Bray.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Revs. Barry Black, Ray Jenkins and Cotrell Harper officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Bray is survived by his wife, Nancy H. Bray; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Amy Bray, Athens, and Greg and Tammi Bray, Colbert; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Jay Bowman, Winterville; sister, Permelia Digamon, Hull; brothers, Doug Bray, San Jose, Calif., Jesse “Pete” Bray, Winterville, and Gene Bray and Jerry Bray, both of Lexington; three grandchildren, Will Bowman, Jake Bowman and Russ Bray; and several nieces and nephews.

Clara Rousey
Mrs. Clara Rousey, 86, of Bowman, diedTuesday, December 2, 2003, at Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston.
Mrs. Rousey was bornin Franklin County on October 7, 1917, a daughter of the late Epp and Maude Qualls Hart.
She was a homemaker and of the Holiness denomination. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Rousey, a son, George Henry Rousey, a step-daughter, Jean Carey, three brothers, Robert, Albert and Ridgway Hart, and three sisters, Ethel Chambers, Edna Elrod and Erna Osley.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 4, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. Johnny Stowe and Dennis Kesler officiating. Burial will be in the Mill Shoal Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include four sons, Billy Rousey and Jerry Pullian, both of Royston, Claudie Pullian, Athens, and Wayne Pullian, Bowman; one daughter, Gladelle Magar, North Pole, Alaska; one step-daughter, Sandra Worley, Royston; three brothers, Joe Hart, Royston, Chandler Hart, Hartwell, and L.A. Hart, Villa Rica; 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family is at the home and was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Willie M. Watts
Mrs. Willie Mae Cash Watts, 98, of Royston, formerly of the New Franklin Community in Franklin County, diedFriday, November 28, 2003, at Brown Memorial Convalescent Center in Royston.
Mrs. Watts was bornin Franklin County on September 6, 1905. She was a daughter of the late John Albert and Mary Lee Anna Ayers Cash.
Mrs. Watts was a homemaker, a farmer and had worked in the textile industry. She was a member of New Franklin Christian Church, where she was a former member of the Ladies Council and a member of the church choir.
Mrs. Watts was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Rutledge Watts, two sisters, Estelle Cash Jordan and Lois Cash Payne, and a cousin reared in the home, Vera Ayers LeCroy.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 30, at New Franklin Christian Church with Minister Dennis Harris and the Rev. Malcolm Herndon officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Wesley Stovall, Dwight Stovall, Richard Cobb, Barry Peeples, Jim Simmons and Carl Sowell served as pallbearers.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Melba Jean and Paul Peeples and Anna June and Charles Cobb, all of Canon, and Gloria Emlen and Trav Stovall, Lavonia; grandchildren, Barry Peeples, Wanda Peeples Simmons, Wesley Stovall, Dwight Stovall, Mary Cobb and Richard Cobb; great-grandchildren, Beth Peeples Sowell, PFC Brent Peeples, Jared, Allie and Grayson Cobb and Brian Stovall; and great-great-grandchildren, Caleb and Allie Sowell.

Cleon Kirby
Wasem Cleon Kirby, 81, of Danielsville, diedThursday, June 3, 2004.
A native of Boonville, Ind., Mr. Kirby was the son of the late J.T. and Delta Cron Kirby.
Mr. Kirby was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a farmer. He was of the Baptist denomination.
Mr. Kirby was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine Hayes Kirby, and his second wife, Barbara Long Kirby.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 7, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Buford Lockman officiating.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Stan and Susan Kirby; three grandchildren, Kelley King and Patricia and Christopher Kirby; and one great-granddaughter, Caitlyn King.

John A. Richardson
John A. Richardson, 81, of Danielsville, diedSaturday, June 5, 2004.
Known as “Pa Paw” to friends and family, Mr. Richardson was a native of Berrien County, and was the son of the late Owen and Appie Gray Richardson.
In 1963, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Richardson moved to Athens from Lavonia, where they owned City Café. Their move to Athens was a result of purchasing the Mayflower Restaurant in downtown Athens, which they owned and operated for 17 years.
Mr. Richardson retired after a total of 35 years in the restaurant business and went to work for the University of Georgia Golf Course, retiring from there in 1987. He was a member of Moons Grove Baptist Church.
“He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather,” said family members.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, at Moons Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Lee officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park. Ricky Vaughn, Randy Vaughn, Bill Forbes, Robert Johnston, Allen Johnston and Charles Hosea served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Greg Hallford, Roger Hallford, Harold Hallford, Arthur Hosea, Charles Smith, Larry Hallford and Rick Vaughn.
Mr. Richardson is survived by his wife, Ollie Mae Hallford Richardson, Danielsville; daughter, Doye Lynn Church, Danielsville; grandchildren, Denise and Doug Kesler, DRee and Todd Krohn and Clemoth and Samantha Church; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Kayde and Megan Kesler, Jack and Luke Krohn and Maddie Grace and Mac Church; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Phillip D. Wood
Phillip D. Wood, 83, of Commerce, diedSaturday, June 5, 2004, at St. Mary’s Longterm Care Center.
Mr. Wood was bornin Madison County on February 22, 1921, a son of the late Elmer George and Willie Katherine McGinnis Wood.
A retired poultry farmer, Mr. Wood was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army. He was a member of Berea Baptist Church, Commerce.
Mr. Wood was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Sorrow Wood.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 7, in the Berea Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Don Blalock and Curtis Dorsey officiating.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Byrd and Phyllis Chandler, both of Commerce; one brother, Henry Ford Wood, Commerce; two sisters, Betty Bolton and Rachel Hawks, both of Commerce; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

James Charles “Jimmy” Shook, 28, of Daniels-ville, diedSunday, June 6, 2004, at his residence.
Mr. Shook was bornApril 2, 1976. He was employed with Stiles Construction.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 10, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce. Burial will be in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Mr. Shook is survived by a daughter, Summer Nicole Shook, Commerce; a son, James Caleb Shook, Commerce; his ex-wife, Anita Shook, Commerce; his girlfriend, Amanda Minish, Danielsville; his mother and step-father, Sheri and Albert Claypoole, Danielsville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Matt and Katrina Shook, Commerce, Mike and Tammy Shook, Pleasantville, Pa., John and Nichol Shook, Ila, and Jason and Lynn Shook, Athens; sister and fiancé, Stacey Shook and Neal Maloch, Danielsville; grandfather, Norris Hunt, Titusville, Pa.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

William ‘Bill’ Janes Jr.
William F. “Bill” Janes Jr., 86, of Athens, diedFriday, June 4, 2004.
Born in Oconee County, Mr. Janes was the son of the late William F. Janes Sr. and Mary Cornelia Willoughby Janes.
A United States Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Janes made his home in Madison County for 40 years. He retired from Wellington-Puritan and was a member of Bluestone Baptist Church, Danielsville.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 6, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, West, Bogart, with the Revs. George Lovely, Ray Jenkins and Ray Galloway officiating. Burial was in Bishop Cemetery.
Mr. Janes is survived by his wife, Lula Mills Janes; two daughters, Mary F. (Frank) Stamey, Stafford, Va., and Ophelia (Edwin) Galloway, Nicholson; four grandchildren, Linda Dale Griffith, Timothy W. Stamey, Laura Kump and Ray Galloway; and four great-grandchildren, Keely Miranda Hildebrand, Kirby Kale Kump, Edwin A. Griffith III and Michael Stamey Griffith.
