Edgar Pritchett
Edgar Milton Pritchett, 88, Commerce, diedSunday, July 25, 2004 at his home.
Mr. Pritchett was bornFebruary 1, 1916 in Jackson County, the son of the late Virgil and Emma Williams Pritchett. He was retired from Harmony Grove Mill and was a member of Madison Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Zilpha Herbert Pritchett, Commerce; a son, Harold Pritchett, Nicholson; a daughter, Sharon Norris, Commerce; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were to be held Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral home, with the Rev. Curtis Greene officiating. Burial was to be in Howington Cemetery in Nicholson.
Little-Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Waite Jr.
Thomas David Waite Jr., 40, Carnesville, diedFriday, July 23, 2004 at BJC Hospital of a brief illness.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Loree Might Waite, of the home; four sons, Joshua D. Waite, Four Oaks, N.C., Tyler Waite, Fountain Inn, S.C., Thomas Allyn Waite and Nolan Chase Waite, both of Carnesville; four sisters, Paula Schwartz, Benecia, CA., Vicki Mehta, Southern Pines, N.C., Kendra Might, Carnesville, and Jeannie Hardman, Atlanta.
Funeral services were to be held Tuesday, July 27, 2004, from the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Hollett officiating. Burial was in the Grey Hill Cemetery.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

Sue Wier
Sue Lilliam Wier, 79, formerly of Commerce, diedFriday, July 23, 2004, in the Athens Regional Hospital of an extended illness.
She was the daughter of the late Grogan and Susie Seagraves Short and the widow of Clarence Elliott (Red) Wier.
Survivors include a son, Charles Wier, Greensboro, and two daughters, Sharon fields, Lavonia, and Martha Sargent, Commerce; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sunday, July 25, 2004 from the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Revs. Douglas Duncan, Tim Garrett and Carl Beckman officiating. Burial was in the Erastus Church Cemetery.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

Grace Bradberry
Grace Betts Bradberry, 76, of Watkinsville, diedWednesday, September 29, 2004.
Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late George and Ina Lavender Betts. Mrs. Bradberry was retired from Sears and was a member of Central Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband. Robert D. Bradberry.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Jo Ann Bradberry, Hull, Eddie and Kay Bradberry, Commerce, Randy and Debbie Bradberry, Loganville, and Jeff and Tina Bradberry, Hoschton; sister, Joan Hardin, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; brother, Cecil Betts, Athens, seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 2, at the Central Baptist Church, with the Revs. Bob Nash and Terry Stutes officiating. Burial was in Prospect Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Eddie Kinnard, Bobby Bradberry, Jimmy Bradberry, Kevin Guest, Mark Betts, and Rusty Betts.
Lord and Stephens, EAST, Athens, was in charge of the arrangements.

Bobbi Bowen
Johnnie Bobbette Pearson Bowen, 53, of Danielsville, diedSaturday, October 2, 2004, at her residence surrounded by her loved ones, after a long battle with cancer.
Born January 31, 1951, the daughter of Arthur Pearson, Canon, and the late Mollie Pearson, she was a loving wife to Jerry Bowen and a wonderful mother and grandmama, according to her loved ones. She was a faithful member of Rice Creek Baptist Church, where she once served as pianist and was a member of the WMU. Prior to her illness, she was employed as a Customer Service Manager at Wal-Mart, Hartwell. “Bobbi was known most for her unending faith in God and her love of family and children. She was loved by many friends and was treasured by her family as a blessing from Heaven,” according to family members.
Survivors include in addition to her father, her husband, Jerry Bowen, Danielsville; three daughters, Stacey Carey and Tracey Tomlin, both of Hartwell, and Angie Jones, Lavonia; son, Tommy Parten, Royston; stepdaughter, Tammy Shubert, Royston, six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; sister, Sandy Strickland, Lavonia; brother, Buster Pearson, Danielsville; stepmother, Faye Pearson, Canon; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday, October 5, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Revs. Gary Hulsey and Dennis Kesler officiating. Burial was in the Franklin Memorial Gardens, South. Pallbearers were Mark Jordan, Kevin Kirk, Warren Pearson, Andrew Pearson, Doug Strickland, Myron Lowe, Jarrette Lowe, and Gary Lowe.
Memorials may be made to the Children’s Miracle Network, 4525 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, Utah 84117.

Alene Chambers
Alene Jackson Chambers, 87, of Demorest, diedThursday, September 30, 2004.
She was bornon November 3, 1916, in White County, the daughter of the late Charlie Wilburn and Bertie Stancil Jackson. Mrs. Chambers was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Chambers, a son, Jerry Chambers, and brothers, J.C. Jackson, James Jackson, and Calvin Jackson. She was a homemaker, a retired poultry farmer, and was a member of the Chattahoochee Baptist Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Barbara Daniel, Demorest, Crete Ward, Cornelia, Roberta Hames, Montezuma, Gail Ivie, Grayson, and Patricia Colston, Demorest; four sons, Bobby Chambers, Demorest, Bill Chambers, Danielsville, Larry Chambers, Demorest, and Ricky Chambers, Lavonia; two sisters, Ione Jackson, Cleveland, and Margie Nell Jackson, Atlanta; five brothers, Clarence Jackson, Mobile, Ala., Royce Jackson, Snellville, Bernard Jackson, Marietta, Charles Jackson, Conyers, and Russell Jackson, Kingsport, Tenn.; 21 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 2, at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, with the Rev. Keith Allison officiating. Burial was in the Fairfield Baptist Church Cemetery.

Gertrude Harris
Mary Gertrude Burton Harris, 93, of Royston, diedSaturday, September 25, 2004, at Cobb Healthcare Center, Comer.
She was bornin Hart County April 15, 1911, the daughter of the late Charles Vester and Lena Nelms Burton. Mrs. Harris was a retired schoolteacher and a member of the Royston first United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, and a member of MYF and Circle Group. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Harris.
Survivors include a daughter, Diana Smothers, Green Cove Springs, Fla.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 1, at the Royston first United Methodist Church with Dr. Brian Clark officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Darrell Bohannan, Don Crowe, Jerry Carey, Gerald Carey, Dan Stroud, and Dan Terry.
Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, was in charge of the arrangements.

Ronnie Scarborough
Ronnie Scarborough, 42, of Nicholson, diedWednesday, September 29, 2004.
A native of Clarke County, he was the son of Robert H. Scarborough of Monroe and Jonell Poss Palmer of Nicholson. He was in construction work.
Survivors in addition to his parents, include two sons, Josh Watson and Anthony Chad Scarborough, both of Nicholson; daughter, Chasity Ann Scarborough, Nicholson; two brothers, Jeff Scarborough, Monroe, and Rodney Scarborough, Nicholson; sister, Paige Cason, Nicholson; and a grandchild, Sierra Scarborough, Maysville.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 1, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Revs. Bobby Westbrooks, Jerry Barrett and Rev. Garrett officiating. Burial was in the Bible Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeff Scarborough, Chad Scarborough, Rodney Scarborough, Ricky Todd, Josh Watson, and Andy Farmer.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, was in charge of the arrangements.

W.S. Morris
Rev. William S. Morris, 73, of Alto, diedThursday, September 30, 2004, at the Habersham Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was a retired minister and was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Morris Fowler.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Rose Sims Morris, of the home; father, Travis Morris, Lula; three sons, Stan Morris and Glen Morris, both of Alto, and Melvin Morris, Lula; one brother, Branson Morris, Gillsville; one sister, Cathy Staton, Lula; two grandchildren that were raised in the home, Steve Fowler and Michelle Fowler; 12 other grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 2, in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Revs. Sam Ragan, Donald Tritt, and Ralph O. Smith officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Ramie Bullock
Ramie Hoyt Bullock, 77, of Colbert, diedSaturday, October 2, 2004.
He was the son of the late Wyatt and Mary Burroughs Bullock and was retired from the University of Georgia after twenty years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Bridges Bullock, Colbert; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Bullock Sims and Richard Sims, Colbert; son, Larry Hoyt Bullock, Colbert; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 5, in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Ray Jenkins and Janice Loggins officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support, 240 Talmadge Drive, Athens, Ga. 30606.

Paul Herndon
Paul Anthony Herndon, 54, of Winterville, diedSunday, October 3, 2004.
He was bornin LaGrange, the son of Pauline South Herndon, Woodbury, and the late Preston Anderson Herndon. Mr. Herndon was a dairy nutritionist salesman with Godfrey’s Warehouse, Inc., and was a very active volunteer with 4H and FFA. He served on the Winterville Planning and Zoning Board and was a member of Winterville First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Deborah Herndon; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Alice Herndon; daughter and son-in-law, Deidra and William Jones, Athens; his mother; brother, Charles Herndon; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Harold Daniel, Lisa and James Colbert, and Leta and Robie Phillips, all of Woodbury; two grandchildren, Wyatt Anderson Herndon and Lily Liddell Herndon, both of Hull; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 6, in the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST, with the Rev. Lonnie Norris and Dr. Stan Annandale officiating. Burial was in Winterville Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in Paul Herdon’s memory to Georgia 4-H Foundation for Dairy Project, Hoke Smith Annex, University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia 30602.

Mary Sue Smith
Mary Sue Smith, 83, of Crawford, diedSaturday, October 2, 2004.
She was the daughter of the late James and Ollie Lee Whiten Cheek.
Survivors include sons, Harold Powell, Danielsville, Merle Powell, Hull, Donald Powell and Ronnie Smith, both of Crawford; daughters, Myrtie Cowart, Hoschton, Barbara Farmer, Monroe, and Rhonda Kaye Smith, Crawford; sisters, Edna Graham, Crawford, and Bonnie Brown, Elberton; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 4, in the Edwards Baptist Church, Crawford, with the Revs. Jamie Doster and Leon McNabb officiating. Burial was in the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery, Athens.
