Lunette S. Hendrix
Mrs. Lunette Simmons Hendrix, 97, died at home in Talmo on February 12, 2002. She had an extended illness from Parkinsonis Disease and had congestive heart failure for a brief time.
Mrs. Hendrix was the youngest daughter of J.H.A. and Leah Tanner Simmons, Talmo. She attended school in Talmo, where she was known by her peers to have been an 'excellent student and one heck of a ball player in her day.'
Mrs. Hendrix was a homemaker and was a member of Talmo Baptist Church, Talmo. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Jewel Hendrix, a son, Denby Woodson Hendrix, and a daughter, Jane Hendrix Kinney.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 15, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Rev. Charles Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in the Talmo Baptist Church cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Sybil Ann Hendrix, Talmo; grandson, John Scott Kinney; granddaughter, Nan Kinney Brock; great-grandson, Drew Brock; great-granddaughter, Maggie Brock; and several nieces and nephews.
Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to Talmo Baptist Church, P.O. Box 98, Talmo, GA 30575, or to Eagle Ranch, P.O. Box 7200, Chestnut Mountain, GA 30502.
Evans Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Winnie Bond
Mrs. Winnie Bond, 77, of Danielsville, died Tuesday, February 12, 2002, at Cobb Health Care Center.
Mrs. Bond was born January 29, 1925, in Germany. She was a daughter of the late Carl and Johanna Singer Heinrichmeyer.
Mrs. Bond had been employed as a seamstress with Ila Sportswear. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Bond.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 14, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Commerce, with the Revs. Doug Duncan and Andy Bond officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Bond is survived by her husband, C L Bond, Danielsville; sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Linda Bond and Steve and Pansy Bond, all of Danielsville, and George and Frances Bond, Athens; daughter, Ruth Bond, Danielsville; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Ron Garrison, Danielsville; sister, Louise Ponder, Germany; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce.
Ivie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

G.L. Walker Jr.
G.L. 'Larry' Walker Jr., 62, of Gainesville, died Sunday, February 10, 2002, at Lanier Park Hospital, Gainesville, following an extended illness.
A native of Barrow County, Mr. Walker was born June 26, 1939, to Mrs. Ioma Lance Walker, Gainesville, and the late Garnett L. Walker Sr.
He moved to Hall County at a young age and graduated from Hall County Schools. Mr. Walker joined the U.S. Air Force and served during the Vietnam Era.
After 20 years of service, he retired from the Air Force, and returned to Hall County. Mr. Walker was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to his father, Mr. Walker was preceded in death by a son, Tony Walker.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Home, Gainesville, with the Revs. Willard Thomas and Earl Jarrard officiating. Burial was in the New Holland cemetery with full military honors.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Betty Walker, Gainesville; two daughters, Marla Walker, Gainesville, and Cherrie K. Harmson, Deville, La.; one brother, Wiley Gip Walker, Gainesville; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a number of other relatives.
Hillside Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Azalee A. Gaines
Mrs. Azalee Akins Gaines, 81, of Pendergrass, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at her residence following a brief illness.
Mrs. Gaines was born June 6, 1920, in Jackson County. She was a daughter of the late B. Akins and Pearlie Manders Akins.
Mrs. Gaines was a homemaker and was a member of Pond Fork Baptist Church, Pendergrass. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Gaines, a son, Tim Gaines, and three sisters, Margie Hicks, Ruby Buggs and Susie Hollis.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 7, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Revs. Bobby Buggs and Douglas Gaines officiating. Burial was in the Mountain Creek Baptist Church cemetery, Pendergrass. Mrs. Gaines’ family members served as pallbearers.
Survivors include five sons, Danny Gaines, Villa Rica, Harold Gaines, Talmo, Mac Gaines, Jefferson, and Ricky Gaines and William “Jimbo” Gaines, both of Pendergrass; two daughters, Janie Keith and Para Lee Perry, both of Jefferson; one sister, Sara Lee, Pendergrass; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Evans Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Timothy R. McCoy
Timothy Rogers McCoy, 51, of Jefferson, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at his residence following an extended illness.
Born in Jackson County on August 26, 1950, Mr. McCoy was a son of Roger McCoy, Inglis, Fla., and the late Sadie Martin McCoy.
He was employed as a dispatcher with Shoffner Industries, Jefferson, and was a retired Jefferson Volunteer Fireman, with 21 years of service. Mr. McCoy was a member of Living Word Worship Center, Jefferson.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelly Teresa McCoy, and a sister, Dana McCoy Bowman.
Graveside services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 7, with the Revs. Richard James and Vernon Wilson officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce. Billy Arnold, Mike Arnold, Douglas Duncan, Don Elrod, Bradley Honea, Daryl Rogers and Johnny Swain served as pallbearers.
Mr. McCoy is survived by his wife, Elaine Arnold McCoy, Jefferson; his father, Mr. McCoy; one daughter, Kimberly Banister, Jefferson; four sisters, Pat Duncan, Danielsville, Deborah McCoy, Maysville, Diane McCoy, Nicholson, and Samantha McCoy, Homer; and one brother, Donnie McCoy, Homer.
Memorials may be made to the Tim McCoy Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 234, Jefferson, GA 30549.

Hattie P. Brock
Mrs. Hattie Patton Brock, 98, of Jefferson, died Wednesday, April 3, 2002, at BJC Nursing Home, Commerce.
Mrs. Brock was born July 3, 1903, in Jackson County, a daughter of the late Dave and Mary Jean Towell Patton.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Mrs. Brock was preceded in death by her husband, John Calvin Brock.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, April 5, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Elmer Butler, Dennis Kesler and Howard Rhodes officiating. Burial was in Howington Cemetery, Nicholson.
Survivors include four sons, Grant Brock, Commerce, Odean Brock and Paul Brock Jr., both of Nicholson, and Thomas Brock, Statham; three daughters, Sarah Adams, Arcade, and Josie Gary and Francine Willoughby, both of Nicholson; 34 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
Little-Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Justin Wood
Clifford Justin Wood, 13, of Braselton, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at Columbia Barrow Medical Center following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born May 31, 1988, in Fulton County, Justin was a son of Clifford and Mary Wicker Wood, Braselton.
He was an eighth grade student at West Jackson Middle School and was very active in school sports, including wrestling, football and baseball. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church, Braselton.
Justin was preceded in death by a grandmother, Jeanette Wood.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Phillips officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a brother, Jacob Wood, Braselton; sister, Jessica Wood, Braselton; grandparents, Jessie and Charles Wicker and Frank Wood, all of Norcross; and great-grandmother, Edith Brown, Augusta.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, was in charge of arrangements.

Bertha Kitchens
Mrs. Bertha Kitchens, 91, of Griffin, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Mrs. Kitchens was born March 23, 1911, to the late Charlie Q. and Ola Holdsclaw Gurley, in Madison County.
She was a retired yarn spinner with Compton Mill and was a member of Devotie Baptist Church, Griffin. Mrs. Kitchens was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Kitchens.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Devotie Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Howard officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Griffin.
Survivors include one son, Billy Kitchens, Florida; one daughter, Pretty Girl Kitchens, Commerce; two sisters, Jeanette Gurley, Alma, and Gladys Williamson, Arcade; and three grandchildren.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

Ralph Cox
Ralph Cox, 81, of Maysville, died Monday, April 1, 2002.
Visitation and funeral services were held from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, April 5, at Oak Lawn Chapel of Tom M. Wages Funeral Service Inc., Lawrenceville.
Mr. Cox is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Joe Davis, Maysville, and Brenda and Juan Vega, Delaware; daughter, Kitty Stewart, Delaware; brother, Buck Cox, California; grandchildren, Josh, Amanda, Jordan, Jarron, Jett, Mari, Tyler, Jaymyn and Jamie; and friends, Bulldog, Betty Boop, Lambert and Golden Earring and Silver Dollar, all of Delaware.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jeni Cheyenne Davis.
Tom M. Wages Funeral Service Inc., Lawrenceville, was in charge of arrangements.

Barbara Grace A. Vickery
Mrs. Barbara Grace A. Vickery, 68, of Commerce, died Friday, April 5, 2002, at Athens Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mrs. Vickery was born August 24, 1933, in Murrayville, to the late John Abernathy and Zora Bruce Abernathy.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Commerce, where she taught Sunday School for over 30 years, and was a member of the Methodist WMU. Mrs. Vickery was a graduate of Berry College, Rome, was a former teacher with the Commerce School System and assisted her husband, Dr. Sam Vickery, in his medical practice in Commerce.
She was preceded in death by a grandson.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 8, at the First United Methodist Church of Commerce with the Revs. Warren Huddleston and Dan Maxey officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Park.
Mrs. Vickery is survived by her husband, Dr. Sam Vickery, Commerce; one son, Ricky Vickery, Commerce; two daughters, Dr. Gwen Morgan and Melanie Stanley, both of Cordele; two brothers, Paul Abernathy, Greensboro, and Bill Abernathy, Blairsville; one sister, Dorothy Byers, Blairsville; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the William Vickery Memorial Fund, c/o the First United Methodist Church, 54 Cherry Street, Commerce, GA 30529.
