Vivian J. Weeks
Mrs. Vivian J. Weeks, 82, of Hoschton, formerly of Atlanta, died Sunday, April 7, 2002.
Born in Little York, Ill., Mrs. Weeks was a daughter of the late James D. and Norma Shuckman Tippett.
She was a charter member of The St. James United Methodist Church, served as a former volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital and was a member of the Dunwoody Country Club.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at Hoschton First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Darrell McGinnis officiating. Burial was in the Hoschton City Cemetery.
Mrs. Weeks is survived by her husband, David I. Weeks, Hoschton; daughter, Nancy A. Fortune, Signal Mountain, Tenn.; two sons, David J. Weeks, Columbia, S.C., and J. Daniel Weeks, Hoschton; sister, Nancy Cissna, Des Moines, Iowa; and 10 grandchildren.
Carter Funeral Home, Winder, was in charge of arrangements.

Genett W. Parr
Mrs. Genett Wade Parr, 66, of Commerce, died Monday, April 8, 2002, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Parr was born June 10, 1935, in Habersham County, a daughter of the late Selton and Dovie Arena Dodd Wade.
She was a homemaker.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Howard Conine officiating. Burial was in the Antioch United Methodist Church cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Boyd Douglas Parr, Athens; three daughters, Barbara Reed, Ila, Jennie Smith, Nicholson, and Tricia Watkins, Commerce; one brother, William Wade, Toccoa; one sister, Leona Jones, Cornelia; five grandchildren, Amy Smith, Melanie Reed, Elizabeth Solomon, Emily Parr and Jacob Parr; one great-granddaughter, Claira Solomon; and one nephew, Louis Reeves.
Little-Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Penny O. Mann
Mrs. Penny Owens Mann, of Nicholson, died Monday, April 8, 2002.
Born in Stephens County, Mrs. Mann was a daughter of Troy and Ruth Henson Owens.
She was a member of Union Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Revs. Walter Singletary and Marion Prather officiating. Burial was in the Union Baptist Church cemetery. James Adams, Rick Autry, Donald Smith, Ray Hooper, Henry Shaw and Darrell Coile served as pallbearers.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include one son, Dylan Mann, Danielsville; two sisters, Troyce Ann Owens Pawlowski, Colbert, and Barbara Owens Elrod, Diamond Hill Community; and nieces, Melanie and Melissa Elrod.
Brown Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mariam F. Hunt
Mrs. Mariam Fincher Hunt, 82, widow of Cecil Lee Hunt, died Sunday, April 7, 2002, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Born May 30, 1919, in Franklin County, Mrs. Hunt was a daughter of the late Robert Knox and Florence Crenshaw Fincher. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Hunt was a homemaker and was a member of Allens United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Ladies Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women and the Sunshine Club.
Mrs. Hunt was preceded in death by a daughter, Linder Ann Hunt, and a son, George McKay Hunt.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, at Allens United Methodist Church with the Revs. Merritt Waters and David Sosebee officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Hunt’s grandsons served as pallbearers.
Survivors include two sons, Leon Hunt, Martin, and Robert Hunt, Toccoa; two daughters, Martha Embrick, Jefferson, and Louise Wills, Martin; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and a special friend, Curtis Segars, Martin.
Memorials may be made to the Allens United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 12, Carnesville, Georgia.
Whitlock Mortuary, Toccoa, was in charge of arrangements.

Denver Roberts
Denver Roberts, 82, of Danielsville, died Monday, April 8, 2002, at Joan Glancy Hospital following an extended illness.
A native of Fulton County, Mr. Roberts was a son of the late Tommy and Mazie Philips Roberts.
He was a retired metal worker and was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Roberts was a member of Community Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 11, at Community Baptist Church with the Revs. Phil Parks and George Pate officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Frances Lorene Roberts, of the home; two brothers, Randall Roberts, Woodstock, and J.T. Roberts, Canton; three sisters, Mary Wood, Alpharetta, Gladys Mulkey, Canton, and Marie Glover, Cumming; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Theron Lester, Ila, Mr. and Mrs. Avery Lester, Jefferson, Bonnie Lester, Danielsville, and Barbara Roberts, Smyrna; and several nieces and nephews.
The family is at the residence and was to have received friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce.
Ivie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lottie E. Boleman
Mrs. Lottie Eden Boleman, 87, of Gainesville, died Wednesday, April 3, 2002, following an extended illness.
A lifelong resident of Hall County, Mrs. Boleman was retired from Leece-Neville Corporation, with 26 years of service. She had also worked at Owen-Osborne Hosiery Mill for more than 20 years. Mrs. Boleman was a member of Central Baptist Church for 61 years, where she taught the 2-year class for many years.
“She will be remembered for her warm smile, quick wit and loving personality,” said family members.
While a resident at New Horizons West, Mrs. Boleman was crowned winner of the home’s annual beauty pageant, and went on to Atlanta where she participated in the state pageant.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Wiley Eden and Alice Lancaster Eden, her husband, Hugh H. Boleman, and a son, Ricky Boleman.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Home, Gainesville, with the Rev. James Elrod officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Gainesville.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Don Elrod, Oakwood; granddaughters, Amy (Mrs. Steve) Browning and Betsy Elrod, both of Gainesville, and Donna (Mrs. Mickey) Latimer, Gillsville; great-grandchildren, Anna Kaye Browning and Emily Eden Browning, both of Gainesville, and Luke Jackson Latimer, Gillsville; and sister, Mrs. Steve Latimer, Chicopee.
Hillside Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Alexander B. Mason
Alexander Burch Mason, 73, of Lincolnton, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at Willis Memorial Hospital, Washington, Ga.
Mr. Mason was a retired educator of the Lincolnton County School System and was an active member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. He was also active in the Lincolnton County community.
A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 5, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Lincolnton. A homegoing service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the church with the Rev. Roy D. Andrews officiating.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Hilda Ivey Mason; two sons, Alvin (Kim Pharr) Mason, Marietta, and Ivan (Adrienne Wyne) Mason, Albany; three daughters, Cathy Mason (Hubert) Pearson, Stockbridge, Einita Mason (Melvin) Mariney, Stone Mountain, and Gilletta Mason (Andrew) Gray, Smyrna; and two brothers, Welcome (Rubye) Mason, Lincolnton, and Julius (Lila) Mason Sr., Jefferson.
Mason Funeral Home, Commerce, and Wright & Jones Funeral Home, Lincolnton, was in charge of arrangements.

J.B. Byers
J.B. Byers, of Maysville, formerly of Canton, Ohio, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Byers was a retiree of Timken Co. in Canton, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 14, in Sunrise Cemetery, Maysville, with the Rev. Phillip Banister officiating.
Mr. Byers is survived by his wife, Shirley Byers, Maysville; his mother, Katie Bruce, Lawrenceville; two sons, Jay B. Byers Jr., Canton, Ohio, and Arthur Byers, Maysville; two daughters, Tammy James and Pamela Young, both of Maysville; four brothers, Frank Byers and Sonny Byers, both of Canton, Ohio, Verlin Byers, Commerce, and Terry Byers, Maysville; two sisters, Lois Jean Henson, Mt. Airy, and Shirley Brownlee, Lawrenceville; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, after which time the body will be carried to Reed Funeral Home, Canton, Ohio, for viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 12.
Ivie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth A. Holcomb
Mrs. Ruth Allen Holcomb, 71, of Cornelia, died Tuesday, April 10, 2002, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, following an extended illness.
Born November 16, 1930 in White County, Mrs. Holcomb was a daughter of the late Frank and Cona Berrong Allen.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Nacoochee Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 12, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Revs. David Harbin and Terry M. Rice officiating. Burial will be in the Nacoochee Baptist Church cemetery.
Mrs. Holcomb is survived by her husband, J.D. Holcomb, Cornelia; daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and James Short, Maysville, and Teresa and Ricky Simmemon, Alto; sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Debbie Holcomb, Demorest, and Wayne and Wilda Holcomb, Baldwin; son, Phillip Holcomb, Cornelia; sister and brother-in-law, Velma A. and Charles Jenkins, Decatur; sister, Frankie Allen, Sautee; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family is at the residence and will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Martha R. Hopkins
Mrs. Martha Randolph Hopkins, 73, of Jefferson, died Sunday, April 7, 2002.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at Sardis Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Harold Harris officiating. Burial will be in the New Salem Church cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Sue Rucker; one son, James Hopkins Jr.; and two sisters, Geneva Sims and Lydia Young.
The family was to have received friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Mason Funeral Home, Commerce.
Mason Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
