Jimmy Charles Hembree, 56, of Anderson, S.C., died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Hembree was born July 8, 1946, in Jackson County. He was a son of Coley and Faye Sears Hembree, Anderson, S.C.
Mr. Hembree was retired from the U.S. Navy and was of the Church of God faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Morris Hembree.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 2, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Roy Puckett officiating. Burial will be in the Grove Level Baptist Church cemetery, Maysville, with full military honors.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffery Lynn Burnip, Rockport, Texas, and Robert Glen Burnip, San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Juanita Jeanette Mangum, San Antonio, Texas, and Susan Ann Rousseau, Kingsville, Texas; one brother, David Hembree, Huntsville, Ala.; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, August 1, at Little-Ward Funeral Home.

Russell G. Strickland
Russell Glenn Strickland, 32, of Jefferson, died Monday, July 29, 2002, in Atlanta, following a sudden illness.
Mr. Strickland was born March 11, 1970, in Clarke County, a son of Wanda Truett Strickland, Jefferson, and the late Wayne Strickland.
He worked as a landscaper and attended Living Word Worship Center, Jefferson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 2, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Revs. Richard James and Dennis Kesler officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife, Lisa Strickland, Jefferson; step-sons, Chris Pelham and Daniel Pelham, both of Jefferson; step-daughter, Rachael Pelham, Jefferson; sister, Amanda Strickland, Jefferson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Nathan Dennis and Michelle Strickland, Jefferson, and Timothy Wayne and LuWanna Strickland, Covington; nephews, Nathan and Dalton Strickland, both of Jefferson; niece, LeAnne Strickland, Covington; and several aunts and uncles.

Barry Gilbert Reeves, 41, of Jefferson, died Monday, July 29, 2002, in Atlanta, following a sudden illness.
Mr. Reeves was born November 9, 1960, in Cobb County. He was a son of the late Thomas C. and Dorothy Jean Truett Reeves.
Mr. Reeves was an electrician.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 2, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Revs. Richard James and Dennis Kesler officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Mr. Reeves is survived by a brother, Kirk L. McClure, Bethlehem; nephews, Dwayne and John McClure; a niece, Madeline McClure; and several aunts and uncles.

Rachael Christy, 19, and Byron Lee Christy, 31, of Pollock, La., died Wednesday, July 24, 2002.
Mrs. Christy was born August 26, 1982. Mr. Christy was born July 14, 1971.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at Prospect Pentecostal Church with the Revs. Mike Russell and Leland Briggs officiating. Burial was in Urania Cemetery.
Mrs. Christy is survived by her father, Dennis Williams, Griffin; her mother, Terri Williams, Commerce; step-sons, Dalton Lee Christy and Dylan Scott Christy, both of Mora, La.; step-daughter, Jessica Lynn Christy, Mora, La.; sister, Lisa Diane Abernathy, and husband, Thomas, Commerce, and nieces, Tiffany E. Mrs. Sara Harris, 84, of Braselton, died Sunday, September 29, 2002, at Magnolia Estates in Winder.
Mrs. Harris was a homemaker and a member of Chapel Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dana Harris, and her parents, Richard L. and Effie O’Kellee.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, in Smith Memory Chapel of Smith Funeral Home, Winder, with the Revs. Billy McKinney and John Batusic officiating. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.

John Franklin Wallace, 46, of Maysville, died Wednesday, October 2, 2002, at his residence of an extended illness.
Mr. Wallace was preceded in death by a son, Mitchell Wallace.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 5, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Donald Wilson, Steve Whisnant and Lloyd Reed officiating. Burial will be in the Oconee Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Wallace is survived by his wife, Beth W. Bobby Harold Aaron, 57, of Jefferson, died Saturday, September 28, 2002, at Barrow Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Born May 22, 1945, in Jackson County, Mr. Aaron was a son of the late James and Lizzie Craig Aaron.
He was employed as a vending mechanic with Pepsi Cola Company, with 30 years of service, and was a member of Faith Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
Mr. Aaron was preceded in death by a brother, James Aaron.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, at Faith Baptist Church, Jefferson, with Dr. Gerald Mitton and Eric Shelton officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Mr. Aaron is survived by his wife, Carol Wills Aaron, Jefferson; one son, Chip Aaron, Jefferson; one daughter, Lorri Thompson, Buford; one sister, Edna Meeler, Jefferson; one brother, William Aaron, Jefferson; and two grandchildren, Jessica and Josh Thompson.

Mrs. Mary Annette Smith, 65, of Jefferson, died Sunday, September 29, 2002, at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Smith was born July 24, 1937, in Jackson County, a daughter of the late Curtis and Addie Jackson Dowdy.
She was a homemaker and a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Jefferson. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a brother, Lyndon Dowdy.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, at Bethany United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dennis Kesler officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Cody Dowdy, Jerry Dowdy, Chris Nelms, Donald Segars, Curtis Smith, Lee Tompkins and Jerry Wilkes served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Jerry Smith, Jefferson; two daughters, Bonnie Anglin, Maysville, and Janice Nelms, Jefferson; one son, Curtis Smith, Ila; one brother, Branson Dowdy, Jefferson; and 11 grandchildren.

Jimmy Ferguson
James Issac “Jimmy” Ferguson, 85, of Diboll, Texas, formerly of Maysville, died Sunday, September 15, 2002.
Mr. Ferguson was a son of the late James and Willie Deen Ferguson. He was preceded in death by a son, Dwight Ferguson.
Mr. Ferguson served in the U.S. Air Force. During World War II, he fought in the Philippines and the Panama Canal Zone.
Mr. Ferguson retired from the military with 21 years of service in 1959. Afterwards, he retired with 16 years of employment with Pacific Gas and Electric in California. Mr. Ferguson was a member of Commerce Church of Christ before he and his wife moved to Texas this year.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 17, in the chapel of Corrigan Funeral Home with Raymond Wallace, Corrigan Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was in Stryker Cemetery, Corrigan, Texas.
Mr. Ferguson is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bonnie Bradley Ferguson, Diboll, Texas; six sons, Bill Ferguson, Wayne Ferguson and Troy Ferguson, all of California, David Ferguson, Missouri, Derral Ferguson, Georgia, and Tony Ferguson, Texas; three sisters, Clota Balleau, New Mexico, Mae Dickerson, Georgia, and Jennie Ramsey, Texas; sister-in-law, Hazel Parks, Georgia; and a multitude of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Mrs. Hazel Marie Cook Tate, 72, of Pendergrass, died Thursday, September 26, 2002, at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Tate was born February 23, 1930, in Jackson County. She was a daughter of the late Herman and Montine Gee Cook.
Mrs. Tate was a homemaker and a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church, Pendergrass.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 28, at Mountain Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Jenkins and Jeff Langley and Northeast Georgia Hospice Chaplain officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Kip Beatty, Kyle Beatty, Pat Fletcher, Ricky Lee, Mike Newsome, J.R. Sablock and Bill Turner served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Tate is survived by her husband, Otis Tate, Pendergrass; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Sue and Jerry Fletcher and Judy and Ed Voyles, all of Pendergrass, and Hilda and Conrad Lavender, Jefferson; sons, Jeff Tate and Robert Cook Tate, both of Pendergrass; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Charles and Gloria Tate, Pendergrass; brothers, Bill Cook and Ted Cook, both of Pendergrass; sister, Dorothy Dean, Eatonton; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
