Henry W. Williams
Henry Willis Williams, 51, of Athens, died Tuesday, August 12, 2003, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Williams was born July 30, 1952, in Jackson County. He was a son of Doris Purcell Williams, Commerce, and the late Lacy Williams.
Mr. Williams was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 14, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Hulon Hill and Stuart Lang officiating. Burial will be in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include two sons, Casey Williams, Commerce, and Yancy Williams, Winterville; one brother, Hershel Williams, Newport, Va.; one sister, Kay Sheridan, Jefferson; and one grandchild.
The family was to have received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Lee Hill
Lee Hill, 29, of Jefferson, died Thursday, September 25, 2003, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce, after a sudden illness.
A native of Jackson County, Mr. Hill was born March 25, 1974. He was a plumber and attended Lebanon Methodist Church.
A memorial service was held at 4 p.m. Sunday, September 28, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Rev. Dugar Strickland and Mike Thompson officiating.
Mr. Hill is survived by his wife, Nickie Hill, Jefferson; his father, Horace Lee Hill Sr., Nicholson; his mother and step-father, Kathy and Ken Mize, Maysville; daughters, Chelsea Hill and Linsey Hill, both of Jefferson; brother, Kelly Mize, Maysville; sisters, Sherry Watson, Athens, and Nancy Wilson, Nicholson; and grandparents, Mary Hill, Commerce, and Margie Pugh, Maysville.

Mrs. Dovie May Robinson Whisnant, 70, of Jefferson, died Monday, September 29, 2003, at her residence of an extended illness.
A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Whisnant was a daughter of the late Gene and Lessie Powers Arnold. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Whisnant.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. George Wooten officiating. Burial was in the Oconee Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include four sons, Larry Whisnant, Mike Whisnant and Wayne Billings, all of Jefferson, and Steve Whisnant, Pendergrass; one daughter, Jo Ann Whisnant, Gainesville; one brother, George Crisley, Madison; two sisters, Patsy Powers and Dianne Powers, both of Winder; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Edwinnie C. Blackstock
Mrs. Edwinnie C. Blackstock, 82, of Winder, died Monday, September 29, 2003.
Born in Barrow County, Mrs. Blackstock was a daughter of the late Will and Fannie Herndon Clack, and the wife of the late Thomas A. Blackstock.
She was a seamstress and had been employed with Carwood and H&H Manufacturing companies, retiring from H&H Manufacturing. She was a member of Pentecost United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, in Smith Memory Chapel of Smith Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Lisa Caine officiating. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Brenda Blackstock, Winder; daughters and sons-in-law, Dale and Troy Richardson, Auburn, and Donice and Wayne Alexander, Jefferson; sister, Grace Rooks, Canton; sisters-in-law, Ruby Clack, Winder, Mascolene Clack, Auburn, and Celeste Townsend, Forest Park; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Obbie B. Bankston, 71, of Maysville, died Saturday, September 27, 2003, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Mr. Bankston was born May 20, 1932, in Taylor County, a son of the late Obbie Bardwell and Mary Hurdle Bankston.
He was retired from Dupont and was of the Baptist denomination.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, September 29, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Brian Stowe officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Mr. Bankston is survived by his wife, Allene Holland Bankston, Maysville; brother, William Bankston, Little Rock, Ark.; and sister, Rachel Athon, Greensboro.

Mrs. Betty Jean Baxter Silman, 52, of Nicholson, died Saturday, September 27, 2003, at her residence.
Mrs. Silman was born in Jackson County on September 24, 1951, a daughter of the late Willie and Mamie McKie Baxter.
She was a homemaker and a member of Cabin Creek Baptist Church, Commerce. Mrs. Silman was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Benjamin Silman.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, at Cabin Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Troy Herbert and Rex Long officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

C.R. ‘Roy’ Davis
C.R. “Roy” Davis, 90, of Demorest, died Friday, September 26, 2003, at his residence following an extended illness.
Born in Jackson County on March 5, 1913, Mr. Davis was a son of the late Charlie Ross and Susie Henry Davis.
He was retired from Georgia Power Company and was a charter member of the North Georgia Ambassadors. He was also a member of Cornelia United Methodist Church.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Davis, Ben Davis and Max Davis, and a sister, Elsie Smith.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 28, at Cornelia United Methodist Church with the Revs. Wayne Smith, Marcus Martin and Robert L. Ramsey officiating. Burial was in Level Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Mildred Watson Davis, Demorest; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Charlie Wood, Demorest; son and daughter-in-law, Charles S. and Marie Davis, Cornelia; sisters, Gladys Oliver, Toccoa, and Sarah Martin, Gainesville; two grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren.

Born May 12, 1921, in Rabun County, Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late Raleigh and Lola Swafford Cannon.
She was a homemaker and of the Methodist denomination. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cecil Brown.

Hugh D. Hart, 81, of Commerce, died Thursday, September 25, 2003, at BJC Nursing Home, Commerce.
A native of Franklin County, Mr. Hart was born June 21, 1922, the son of the late Claude and Lelia Slaton Hart.
He was retired from Commerce Sportswear and was a member of the Commerce Church of Christ. Mr. Hart was preceded in death by a grandson, Kenneth Hart.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 27, at the Commerce Church of Christ with the Revs. Jeff Coalson and Ron Cope officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
