William L. Kenner Jr.
William Lessie Kenner Jr., 84, of Nicholson, died Sunday, March 28, 2004.
Born August 9, 1919, in Cordell, Okla., Mr. Kenner was a son of the late William Lessie and Ruby Kenner.
Mr. Kenner was a decorated veteran, having served in the United States Navy during World War II in Pearl Harbor and at the Guadal Canal. He was a member of the Western Conference of Teamsters.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, Athens, with the Rev. Morris Sapp officiating. Burial was in Floral Memorial Park, Selma cemetery District, Selma, Calif.
Mr. Kenner is survived by his wife, Louise Bellew Kenner; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Dale Kenner, Colbert, and William and Lisa Kenner, Bryson City, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Jim Yakligian, Sanger, Calif.; brother, Encell Kenner, Selma, Calif.; sisters, Jewell Walls, Selma, Calif., Nita Faye Schoate, Sanger, Calif., and Fern Mentzer, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Spencer Kenner and wife, Kalasta, Cody Kenner, Crystal Kenner, Eddie Linder and wife, April, and Shara Yakligian; great-grandchildren, Devin Kenner and Chloe Linder; and former wife, Betty Ann Kenner, Bryson City, N.C.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Gordon’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Grady W. Robinson Sr.
Grady William Robinson Sr., of Alto, died Friday, March 26, 2004, at his residence of an extended illness.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 28, at Silver Shoals Baptist Church with the Rev. David Tilson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include three sons, Lary Robinson, Commerce, and Grady William Robinson Jr. and Dale Robinson, both of Alto; two daughters, Diane Langston, Royston, and Kathy Thomas, Homer; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mary E. Glick
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Glick, 73, of Winder, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004.
Mrs. Glick was the daughter of the late Urban and Vera Seibert, and the wife of the late George William Glick.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 2, in Smith Memory Chapel of Smith Funeral Home, Winder, with Dr. John Talley officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include a son, Dan Glick, Winder; daughters, Mary Kathleen Russell, Winder, and Debbie Ann Glick, Edgewater, Fla.; brothers, Robert Seibert and Jim Seibert, Evansville, Ind.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Bertha B. Doster
Mrs. Bertha Brock Doster, 77, of Winder, died Thursday, March 25, 2004.
Born in Barrow County, Mrs. Doster was a daughter of the late Clarence and Lelia Blankenship Brock. She was the wife of the late Donald Doster.
Mrs. Doster retired from Empire Manufacturing after 30 years and was of the Baptist denomination.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27, in Smith Memory Chapel of Smith Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Donnie Pennington officiating. Burial was in the Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Doster is survived by a brother, Thomas Brock, Jefferson; sisters, Grace Hayes and Geneva Reed, both of Winder; and several nieces and nephews.

Mozelle S. Johnson
Mrs. Mozelle Stone Johnson, 92, of Buford, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004.
A lifelong resident of Buford, Mrs. Johnson was a retired supervisor with Dick Lynott Co. in Duluth, and also worked at Puckett’s Restaurant in Buford. She was a member of West Buford Baptist Church.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Johnson.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 19, in the chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford, with the Revs. Ricky Davis, Anthony Johnson and Ernest Allen officiating. Burial was in Sugar Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter, Lennie J. Davis, Braselton; daughter and son-in-law, Laverne and Johnny Bagwell, Cumming; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Linda Johnson, Hoschton, Harry and Betty Johnson, Buford, and Toy and Jeanette Johnson, Cumming; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

‘Bill’ Marlow
H.W. “Bill” Marlow, 75, of Winterville, died Wednesday, March 24, 2004.
A native of Jackson County, Mr. Marlow lived in the area all of his life. He was a son of the late Richard and Maude Nunn Marlow, and was preceded in death by a son, Paul Marlow.
Mr. Marlow was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in the Korean Conflict.
Funeral services were held at noon Saturday, March 27, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, Athens, with the Rev. Joseph Hamid officiating. Burial was in the Winterville Cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter, Becky Hammock, Statham; sons, Richard Marlow, Murfreesboro, Tenn., and David Marlow and Ronnie Marlow, both of Athens; brothers, Howard Marlow, Commerce, and James Marlow, North Carolina; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Dorothy T. O’Neal
Mrs. Dorothy Tench O’Neal, 80, of Atlanta, formerly of Habersham County, died Sunday, March 28, 2004. She was the widow of Richard Marvin O’Neal Jr.
Mrs. O’Neal was born in Greensboro on August 17, 1923, to the late Hezekiah and Viola Lula Mae Ivie Tench. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Gary Stamey, and a brother, Daniel Lamar Tench.
Mrs. O’Neal was a legal secretary for her late husband’s law practice and was of the Christian Science faith.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, at New Hope Baptist Church with the Revs. Gene Batson and Anthony Shore officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Sue Miller, Powder Springs; a son, R. Harold Stamey, Seattle, Wash.; sisters, Doris Carolyn Stamey, Braselton, and Helen Delores McGaha, Flowery Branch; brothers, Dewey H. Tench and Hoyt D. Tench, Cornelia, Donald E. Tench, Demorest, and Douglas W. Tench, Chamblee; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Jack V. Hulme Sr.
Jack Vernon Hulme Sr., 85, of Crawford, brother of Harold W. Hulme, Nicholson, died Thursday, March 25, 2004.
Born in Elbert County, Mr. Hulme was a son of the late James M. and Victoria Burdette Hulme.
He was a heavy equipment mechanic and worked for R.G. Laternou (Toccoa) and Green Construction (Oaktown, Ind.). He retired from Logan Paving Company.
Mr. Hulme was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by a son, Jack V. Hulme Jr.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 28, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, Athens, with the Rev. Dayton Logan officiating. Entombment was in Athens Memory Gardens. Joel Colquitt, Billy Colquitt, Greg Ashworth, Keith Ashworth, Wayne Hicks, Jim Holloman and Lamar Bridges Jr. served as pallbearers.
In addition to his brother, Mr. Hulme is survived by his wife, Edith B. Hulme; two sisters, Carolyn H. Busby, Sparta, Tenn., and Evelyn H. Horton, Knoxville, Tenn.; two other brothers, James M. Hulme, Elberton, and Victor T. Hulme, Lawrenceville; two grandsons, Jack Hulme III and David Noell Hulme, both of Columbia, S.C.; and four great-grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Lauren and Brent.

Lester Q. Kelly
Lester Q. Kelly, 74, of Maysville, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce, after an extended illness.
Mr. Kelly was a son of the late Lester Howard Kelly and the late Dollie Collier Kelly. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Kelly and Thomas Kelly.
Mr. Kelly was a contractor and a veteran of the Korean War.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 1, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Marion Prather officiating. Burial will be in the Center Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Kelly is survived by his wife, Mildred Bennett Kelly, of the home; four sons, Lester D. Kelly, Athens, Donald Kelly, Maysville, and Mark Kelly and Timothy Kelly, both of Gainesville; one daughter, Karen Slater, Commerce; two brothers, I.M. Kelly and Dan Kelly, both of Tupelo, Miss.; one sister, Pat Carter, Southhaven, Miss.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Belle B. Chapman
Mrs. Belle Barnes Chapman, 89, of Clermont, died Friday, March 26, 2004, at Gold City Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Chapman was born in Habersham County, but had lived in Hall County for most of her life. She was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church, Lumpkin County.
Mrs. Chapman was preceded in death by her husbands, Harrison Barnes and Reece Chapman, step-sons, Eugene Chapman and James Chapman, granddaughter, Debora Lewis, grandsons, Larry Barnes and Barry Barnes, and son-in-law, Burrell Couch.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 28, in the chapel of Ward’s Funeral Home, Gainesville, with the Rev. Dean Bryant officiating. Burial was in the New Bridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Robert R. and Gail Barnes, Clermont, and Larry and Darlene Barnes, Gainesville; daughter, Ruth Couch, Clermont; sister and brother-in-law, Fannie Lou and Luther Helton, Maysville; step-daughters-in-law, Dola Chapman and Rhonda Chapman, both of Murrayville; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren.

Mrs. Gennie Faye Martin, 51, of Nicholson, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce, of a sudden illness.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, at Emanuel United Pentecostal Holiness Church, Nicholson, with the Rev. Jerry Wheeler officiating. Burial was in Maxwell Cemetery, Nicholson.
Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband, Charles Martin, of the home; her mother, Minnie Mae Gee Slater, Commerce; son, William Martin, Nicholson; daughter, Amanda Faye Martin, Gainesville; brothers, Johnny Slater, Clifford Slater and Willie Slater, all of Commerce; and sisters, Dorothy Kitchens, Hull, and Barbara McEver, Minnie Lou Carroll and Gertrude McDaniel, all of Commerce.
