Christopher Westmoreland, 52, died Friday, July 23, 2004 at his residence in Nicholson.
He was the son of Eddie Vera (Jackson) Westmoreland and was preceded in death by his father, Branson Westmoreland.
Survivors include his wife Jenny Lord Westmoreland, Nicholson; two sons, Joseph Westmoreland and Noah Westmoreland, Nicholson; three grandchildren; two brothers, Ronson Westmoreland, Nicholson, and Wayne Westmoreland, Commerce; one sister, Phyllis Farley, Commerce.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 25, 2004 from the Center United Methodist Church with the Revs. Bobby Anthony and Griff Carithers officiating.

Russell Sanders
Russell Sanders, 69, East Point, died Sunday, July 25, 2004 at Christian Minstries Hospice.
He was born on July 30, 1934 in Jackson County and was the son of the late Margaret Louise (Waldroup) Sanders and Howard Sanders. He was a member of the Connally Drive Baptist Church and a retired snack stand owner.
Survivors include two aunts, Sarah Howington, Jefferson, and Katie Wilson, Charleston, SC.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 29, 2004 in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.

Aubrey Wade
Aubrey Wallace Wade, 83, Commerce, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at Hillhaven Nursing Home.
Mr. Wade was born April 26, 1921 in Madison County, the son of the late Polly Wade.. With his wife, Wilda Cheek Wade, Commerce, he owned and operated several retail businesses in the Commerce area, including Wade’s Grocery and Burger Kreem. He was a member of Madison Street Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2004, at the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home in Commerce, with the Rev. Bill Manus officiating. Burial will take place at Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.

Steven Turpin
Steven Lynn Turpin, 32, Commerce, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at BJC Hospital of a sudden illness.
He was the son of the late Gene and Jeannette Roach Turpin and was in the construction profession.
Survivors include a special friend, Melinda Bowen, Commerce; two sons, Steven Lynn Turpin Jr, Pendergrass, and Brent Edward Turpin, Jefferson; three brothers, James Turpin, Homer, Bobby Turpin, Commerce, and Jerry Turpin, Sandy Cross; four sisters, Martha Harbert, Royston, Judy Roberts and Tammy Turpin, both of Commerce, Jessie Beavers, Calhoun; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tonya Thomas.
Funeral services were Monday, July 26, 2004, from the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Hardy officiating. Burial was in the Grey Hill Cemetery.

Franklin Gregg
Franklin “Ike” Gregg, 71, Winder, died July 24, 2004.
Born in Walton County he was a former resident of Good Hope and a resident of Barrow County for the past 34 years. He was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church and a United States Air Force Veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was also a retiree of the University of Georgia Physical Plant with 25 years of service.
He was the son of the late Joseph Claude and Tinnie Davis Gregg.
Survivors include his wife, Drucilla B. Gregg, Winder; daughter Susan Brantley, Winder; two sons, Phil McDaniel, Auburn and Hoyt McDaniel, Lawrenceville; four grandchildren, Cody Brantley, Clay Brantley, Kristen McDaniel and Kaleb McDanel; brother, Joe Gregg, Maysville.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 26, 2004 from the Chapel of Carter Funeral Home and Revs. Shuford Jones and Brook Braswell officiated. Burial was at Barrow Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Jeremy Holder, Justin Holder, Cody Brantley, Clay Brantley, Kaleb McDaniel & Bernard Brantley.

Faye Sikes
Faye Sikes, 65, of Winder, died on Wednesday, July 21, 2004.
A native of Barrow County, she lived most of her life in Winder. She was of the Baptist faith, and retired from Empire Manufacturing Company.
Mrs. Sikes was the daughter of the late John Hamby and Mabel Cooper Hamby. Her husband, David Sikes, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Mike Sikes of Jefferson; two daughters, Irene Moubray of Watkinsville and Carol Wood of Jefferson; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother Paul Hamby of Bishop; and a sister Jackie Hiles of Dayton, Ohio.
Funeral services were Friday, July 23, at Smith Memory Chapel. The Rev. Lane Moubray, Pastor Tilley Welborn, and Bishop Douglas Hammond officiated. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.

Bobby J. Cochran, 66, Hoschton, died on Tuesday, July 20, 2004.
He was a native of Cherokee County and was the owner of West Jackson Taxi Service. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Betty Brown Cochran, Hoschton; four children; five step-children; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Pat Gibby, Flowery Branch and Barbara Jean and Billy Brown, Buford; several nephews, nieces and cousins.

Billy Ray Jordan, 65, Danielsville, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at his home.
He was born in Clarke County, October 16, 1939, the son of the late Jessie Thomas and Geneva Dye Jordan. He was a parts manager and was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Wood Jordan, Danielsville; three sons, Ricky Jordan, Lawrenceville, Mark Jordan, Danielsville, and Michael Jordan, Bishop; daughter, Denese McClellan, Cleveland, TN; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services are to be held Friday, July 30, 2004, 3 p.m., at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Peek officiating. Graveside Services will follow at 5 p.m. in the Evergreen Memorial Park in Athens. Pallbearers will be Randy McFall, Scott Harwell, Jerry Harwell, Kevin Kirk, Jerry Bowen and Rangy Logsdon. The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2004.

Hattie Pearl Foster, 91, Athens, died Monday, July 26, 2004.
A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Blanche Williams Gordon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy P. Foster; son, Ronnie Foster; grandson, Wade Foster. She was retired from McClellan’s Dime Store and a member of Gordon’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Royce Foster, Athens; four grandchildren, Curtis Foster, Wendy Foster, Kelli Maxey and Kim Foster; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are to be held Friday, July 30, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in Gordon’s Chapel United Methodist Church with the Revs. Luther Fouche’ and Robert Passmore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Bernstein Funeral Home Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00.

Edgar Milton Pritchett, 88, Commerce, died Sunday, July 25, 2004 at his home.
Mr. Pritchett was born February 1, 1916 in Jackson County, the son of the late Virgil and Emma Williams Pritchett. He was retired from Harmony Grove Mill and was a member of Madison Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Zilpha Herbert Pritchett, Commerce; a son, Harold Pritchett, Nicholson; a daughter, Sharon Norris, Commerce; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were to be held Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral home, with the Rev. Curtis Greene officiating. Burial was to be in Howington cemetery in Nicholson.

Dennis F. Bowens, 59, of Jefferson, died Monday, July 19, 2004.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Linda Bowens, Jefferson, include daughters Carmelia Bowens, Jefferson, and Pamela Pulliam, Gainesville; brother Joseph Bowens, Gainesville; sisters Bernice Fields, Gainesville and Lillie Bell Bowens, Rome and five grandchildren.
