Timothy Bingham
Timothy Alexander Bingham, 45, Athens, died Saturday, July 17, 2004, at Athens Regional Medical Center from injuries received in an accident.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Bingham, Pendergrass; his mother, Virginia Campbell Bingham, Athens; two sons, Timothy Bingham and David Charles Bingham, Talmo; three daughters, Connie Bingham, Pendergrass, Linda Bingham, Talmo, and Virginia Jean Bingham, Gainesville; three brothers, David Bingham, Chicago, Ill., Larry Bingham, Royston, and Donald Bingham, Gainesville; four sisters, Polly Pierce, Athens, Martha Nell Brooks, Raleigh, N.C., Linda Cape, Danielsville, and Brenda Flowers, Dahlonega; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangments.

Adam Wilson
Mr. Adam Justain Wilson, 16, Danielsville, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004.
He was a native of Gwinnett County and had attended school in the Jackson County School System until the age of 12. He was preceded in death by his father, James Alford Wilson Jr.
Survivors include his mother, Melissa Brown Sims; step-father, John Sims II; sister, Amanda Wilson; and step-brother, John Paul Sims III; grandparents, Larry and Miriam Wilson, Jefferson; James and Viola Wilson, Commerce; Don and Susie Brown, Danielsville, and John and Teresa Sims, Danielsville.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 15, 2004, at Brown Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Vince Mercardante officiating. Burial was at Dry Pond United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Brown Funeral Home Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Birdie Sutton
Birdie Stine Sutton, 77, Hoschton, formerly of Ellijay, died Saturday July 24, 2004, at the North East Medical Center.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Dallas and Anita Knight, Hoschton; one grandson, Dallas Knight, Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Amberly Knight and Jeremey Knight; one great-great-grandson, Treston Contresas; one sister, Louise Merrill, Hoschton; one brother, Mark Garrett, Hoschton.
Funeral services were to be held Tuesday, July 27, 2004, from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Banks officiating. Burial was in Liberty Baptist Church cemetery.
The Logan Funeral Home and Chapel of Ellijay, Georgia was in charge of the arrangements.

Florence Smith
Mrs. Florence Mathews Smith, 98, Crawford, formerly of Oglethorpe County, died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at Quiet Oaks Health Care Center.
Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late Lester and Jettie Burt Matthews. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Glade Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Smith.
Survivors include a brother-in-law, J.P. “Jake” Smith, Carlton; a sister-in-law, Syble Smith, Carlton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 25, 2004, at the chapel of Hicks Funeral Home in Elberton, with the Rev. John Griffeth officiating. Burial was in the Glade Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Johnny Reynolds, Mike Reynolds, Ricky Drew, Shane Smith, Lester Taylor Smith and J.C. Watson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Glade Baptist Church cemetery Fund, 646 Ruffs Road, Carlton, GA 30627.
Hicks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Curtis Ledford
Curtis J. Ledford, 80, Commerce, died Monday, July 19, 2004, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born March 28, 1924 in South Carolina, he was a son of the late Inda Mae and Dock Ledford. Mr. Ledford was retired from Gold Kist and was a farmer. He was a member of Grove Level Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by two sons, Allen Ledford and Tommy Ledford.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Mary Beck Ledford, Commerce, include five sons, Donny Ledford, Steve Ledford, Kenneth Ledford, all of Commerce, Mark Ledford, Carnesville, and Terry Ledford, Lula; three daughters, Doris Leachman, Carol Pace and Susan Strickland, all of Commerce; four brothers, Aubrey Ledford, Bobby Ledford, Frank Ledford, all of Commerce, and David Ledford, Carnesville; seven sisters, Alice Bond, Linda Ledford, Mildred Thomas and Dot Wilbanks, all of Commerce, Ruth Bachman, Yatesville, Paulette Delozier, Buford, and Bertha Williams, Flowery Branch; 25 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 22, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Ridgeway Baptist Church, with the Revs. Bill Manus and Donald Wilson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.

Paul Steinmann
Paul Steinmann, 84, formerly of Chattanooga, died Saturday, October 2, 2004, at Silverleaf Alzheimer Care Facility, Athens.
Born February 19, 1920, in Chattanooga, he was the son of the late John Gollis and Emma McReynolds Steinmann. He graduated from Central High School and attended the University of Chattanooga on a football scholarship. Mr. Steinmann was a veteran having served in the United States Army during World War II on Okinawa in the Pacific theater. He was retired from South Central Bell in 1982, after 42 years as a supervising engineer, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Cayce Steinmann, Jefferson; daughters and son-in-law, Susan Stewart, Jacksonville, Fla., and Becky and Greg Perry, Commerce; four grandchildren, Stephani Thornton, Erin White, Jeff Perry, and John Perry; and two great-grandsons, Preston and Mason White.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 6, in the North Chapel of the Chattanooga Funeral Home with Lee Anderson officiating. Burial was in the National cemetery Chattanooga. Pallbearers were Greg Berry, Byron Cole, Hugh Grant, Bob Shomaker, Jeff Perry, and John Perry.
Memorials may be made to Silverleaf of Athens, Inc., 705 Whitehead Road, Athens, Ga. 30606.
Little Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of the arrangements.

Paul Rucker
Paul Dallas Rucker, 64, of Commerce, died at his residence. The date of death is undetermined at this time.
Survivors include two sons, Keith Rucker, Commerce, and Fayette Rucker, Henderson, Ky.; three daughters, Kellie Hall, Fayetteville, N.C., Gain Collins, Commerce, and Crystell Rucker, Commerce; five brothers, Billy Rucker, Bobby Rucker, Willie Rucker, Verner Rucker, and Phillip Rucker, all of Commerce; one sister, Rachel Law; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 3, at Neal's Grove Baptist Church, Commerce. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Gardenview Funeral Chapel, Athens, was in charge of the arrangements.

Nell South
Nell Chastain South, 82, of Cocoa, Florida, died Friday, September 24, 2004, at the Westoff Hospital in Rockledge, Florida.
Born in Stephens County, she was the daughter of the late Will and Rhoda Garland Chastain. She was a retired bookkeeper with the Citizens National Bank and had been a resident of Brevard County, Florida, since 1960. Mrs. South was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar South.
Survivors include a son, Roger South, Cocoa, Fla.; daughter, Patti Wild, Portsmouth, Va.; one sister, Latrelle Williams, Maysville; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 2, at the chapel of the Florida Memorial Funeral Home, Rockledge, Fla. Burial was in the Florida Memorial Gardens, Rockledge.

Myrtie Robinson
Myrtie Marie Robinson, 49, of Commerce, died Friday, October 1, 2004, at her residence after an extended illness.
Survivors include her mother, Claudia W. Wallace, Commerce; daughter, Hazel Marie Whitlock, Commerce; two brothers, Carl Anderson Wallace, Hoschton, and Marty Wayne Wallace, Commerce; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 4, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Revs. Steve Whisnant, Loy Reed, and Bo Whisnant officiating. Burial was in the Oconee Baptist Church Cemetery.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of the arrangements.

Lisa Vernon
Lisa Elaine Vernon, 43, of Pendergrass, died Saturday, October 2, 2004, after an extended illness.
She was born February 19, 1961, in Fulton County, a daughter of the late Mr. Carrin Henry and Hazel Juanita Walker Toney. She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Lamont "Jay" Vernon, Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Steven Lamont Vernon, Pendergrass; brothers, Clifford Toney, Nicholson, Frankie Toney, Talmo; half-brother, Larry Toney, Stone Mountain; half-sister, Wanda May, Atlanta; mother-in-law, Betty Grier and husband, Henry Grier, Winder; father-in-law, Ralph Vernon and wife, Voncille, Winder; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Daniel and Elaine Vernon, Nicholson; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, October 5, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Ray officiating. The body was cremated.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, was in charge of the arrangements.

Jean Grizzle
Jean Jackson Grizzle, 86, of Winder, died Tuesday, October 5, 2004, at Barrow Community Hospital, Winder.
She was born in Jackson County May 29, 1918, the daughter of the late Worth and Sunie Williams Jackson, and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Grizzle.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Grizzle and Judy Edwards, both of Winder; two sisters, Catherine Porter Demorest, and Melvina Hamilton, Jefferson; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 7, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home with the Revs. Mike Carruthers and Les Vinluan officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Carter Funeral Home, Winder, is in charge of arrangements.

Quilla Whiten
J. Quilla Whiten, 75, of Gresham, Oregon, died Tuesday, September 28, 2004, from breast cancer.
She was born February 25, 1929, in Toccoa, the daughter of Rolin and Vinnie Whitmire. She graduated from Eastanollee High School, Class of 1946, in Stephens County. She married her high school sweetheart, Elmer L. Whiten, May 4, 1952. Mrs. Whiten was a homemaker and actively participated in the ministry with her husband. They were founders of "Camp Hope Northwest", a camp for prisoner's children in Silverton, Ore. She was the executive director there for 2001 until her death. Mrs. Whiten was a member of Greater Gresham Baptist church and active in the Women's Missionary Union of the Southern Baptist Convention. Her life's work was supporting missions, according to family members. She also loved to collect antiques and enjoyed being a treasure hunter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer L. Whiten, who was a pastor at numerous churches in Georgia, two brothers, Taylor and Sam Whitmire, and a sister, Martha Whitmire.
Survivors include her son, Mark Whiten, Peoria, Ariz.; sisters, Gwen Wiley, Jefferson, and Lavina Neal, Conyers; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Friday, October 1, at Willamette National cemetery with a Celebration of her life service at Greater Gresham Baptist Church.
Contributions may be made in her memory to the Quilla Whiten Scholarship Fund, c/o N.W. Baptist Foundation, 3200 NE 109th Ave., Vancouver, Wash. 98682-7749.
