Judy E. Parker
Mrs. Judy Elaine Parker, 55, of Cornelia, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at her residence following an extended illness.
Born in Habersham County on October 30, 1946, Mrs. Parker was the daughter of Lillian Pruitt, Mt. Airy, and the late Alvin Pruitt.
She was a homemaker and was a member of the Cornelia Church of God. Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Pruitt.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Cornelia Church of God with the Revs. James Gunn, Bobby Griffin, Wilmer Ivester and Geoffrey Dillard officiating. Burial was in the Camp Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Parker is survived by her husband, Sammy Parker, Cornelia; daughters, Teresa Perry, Baxley, and Melissa Shook, Cornelia; son, Greg Martin, Eastanolle; brothers, Tommy Pruitt and Keith Pruitt, both of Mt. Airy; sisters, Joyce Dyer, Alto, and Sandra Pruitt, Dahlonega; and seven grandchildren.

Eddie M. Lang
Mrs. Eddie McDonald Lang, 88, of Commerce, died Monday, June 3, 2002.
Mrs. Lang was a retired first grade teacher with the Commerce City School System and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Commerce. She was also a member of the Ladies Circle 1 and the Commerce-Jackson County Retired Teachers Association.
A native of Atkinson County, Mrs. Lang was the daughter of the late Edward C. and Mamie Deen McDonald. She was the wife of the late Woolard R. Lang.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 6, at the First United Methodist Church of Commerce with the Rev. Warren Huddleston officiating. Burial will be in Axson Cemetery.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Charles Exley, Stone Mountain, and Lettie and Buddy Stallings, Yatesville; grandson and wife, Charles and Kiyoko Exley III, New Haven, Conn.; granddaughter and husband, Amanda and David Lower, Atlanta; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lang Memorial Scholarship, Commerce First United Methodist Church.

Thelma G. Thomas
Mrs. Thelma Gudger Thomas, 73, of Demorest, died Saturday, June 1, 2002, at her residence following an extended illness.
Born in Anderson, S.C., on January 30, 1929, Mrs. Thomas was the daughter of Belle May Gudger, Clarkesville, and the late Jack Gudger.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Return Baptist Church. Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Thomas, and a brother, J.C. Gudger.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 3, at Return Baptist Church with the Revs. Donald Grizzle and Jerry Carnes officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include a daughter, Brenda Smith, Demorest; a son, Dale Thomas, Demorest; sisters, Mildred Smith, Demorest, Ruth Mason, Homer, and Doris Rigdon, Clarkesville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

William Smith
William Smith, 54, of Commerce, died Sunday, June 2, 2002.
Mr. Smith was born in Banks County, where he attended public school. He was employed with Jefferson Mills until his retirement and was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church, Commerce.
Mr. Smith was the son of the late Bertha Smith and Johnny Meyers, and was the husband of the late Jeanette Hancock. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Hancock Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at Fair Play Baptist Church, Hull, with Pastor G. Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 11:30 a.m.
Survivors include three daughters, Varonica Anderson and Nancy Flemming, both of Commerce, and Virginia Curry, Gainesville; five sons, John R. Hancock, Jefferson, Roger Hancock, Ricky Hancock and Billy Hancock, all of Athens, and Terry Hancock, Commerce; two sisters, Louise Law Furr and Mary Law, both of Gainesville; three brothers, Alvin Meyers, Louvonia, William Law and Hubert Law Jr., both of Gainesville, and James Smith, Commerce; 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
The family was to have received friends at 314 Cedar Drive, Commerce.

Dewey S. Lewallen
Dewey Sewell Lewallen, 74, of Douglasville, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002.
Mr. Lewallen was born January 7, 1928, in Banks County. He was the son of the late Fred and Grace Lewallen.
Mr. Lewallen was self-employed in the automotive business and was a member of Nails Creek Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 6, in Rosehaven Chapel of Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home, Douglasville, with the Rev. Donald Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Rosehaven Cemetery.
Mr. Lewallen is survived by his wife, Floytee Lewallen, Douglasville; son, Randy Lewallen, Douglasville; sons and daughters-in-law, Timmy and Christy Lewallen and Keith and Nancy Lewallen, all of Douglasville; brothers, Eugene Lewallen, Donald Lewallen and Lamar Lewallen, all of Douglasville; and sister, Geraldine Williams, Douglasville.

Greg Garrison
Greg Garrison, 39, of Gainesville, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce, following a sudden illness.
A native of Hall County, Mr. Garrison was a son of Regina Inez Miller Gunter and the late John H. Garrison.
He was a 1980 graduate of Johnson High School and was an avid race car driver at Lanier National Speedway, Braselton, where he raced in the Ministock Class, and in the PARTS Pro Truck Division. Mr. Garrison was an umpire with the Gainesville/Hall County Parks and Recreation Association in the Little League Class and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Home, Gainesville, with the Rev. M.A. Poole officiating. Burial was in the Timberridge Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include his mother and father, Regina and Ronnie Gunter, Gainesville; his fiancée, Tammy James, Maysville; brother, Johnny Dale, Lula; sisters, Angie Ravan, Cleveland, and Laurie Bryant, Dahlonega; and a number of aunts, uncles and other relatives.

Elwanda B. Combs
Mrs. Elwanda Burton Combs, 54, of Mt. Airy, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, following an extended illness.
Born in Stephens County on April 16, 1948, Mrs. Combs was the daughter of the late Castalow and Ora Lee Ansley Burton.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Combs was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Celeste Combs.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Hazel Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Billy Burrell and Trent Smith officiating. Burial was in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Combs is survived by her husband, Glenn Combs, Mt. Airy; daughters, Glenna Combs and Christy Combs, both of Mt. Airy; daughter and son-in-law, Addie Jo and Derek Hart, Baldwin; brother, William E. Burton, Mt. Airy; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Cheryl Burton, Mt. Jack Sanders
Jack Sanders, 81, of Baldwin, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Habersham County Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Sanders was born January 26, 1921, in Banks County, a son of the late Horace T. and Norbia Cash Sanders.
He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills, with 20 years of service. Mr. Sanders was a member of Baldwin Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, John Sanders, Manson Sanders and Brad Sanders, and three sisters, Gladys Ivie, Naomi Oliver and Hazel Sanders.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 30, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Rev. Larry Barnes officiating. Burial was in the Harmony Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Gennieve Anderson Sanders, Baldwin; son and daughter-in-law, David and Robin Sanders, Baldwin; sister, Carrie Moss, Hollingsworth Community; and granddaughter, Becky Sanders, Baldwin.

Bill Waller
Bill Waller, 77, of Commerce, died Saturday, June 1, 2002, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Mr. Waller was born April 19, 1925, in Wilkes County, a son of the late Thomas and Florence Thaxton Waller.
He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army, and was retired from Union Oil.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Monday, June 3, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Brad Wilson and Verlin Reese officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Mr. Waller is survived by his wife, Betty Evans Waller, Commerce; three sons, Bill Perry, Dacula, James T. Waller, Commerce, and William F. Waller Jr., Douglasville; one daughter, Frankie Satterfield, Conway, Ark.; two sisters, Mary Berryman, Crawford, and Reba Pace, Nicholson; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Rev. Estes R. Littleton
The Rev. Estes R. Littleton, 88, of Mt. Airy, died Friday, May 31, 2002, at his residence following an extended illness.
The Rev. Littleton was born February 20, 1914, in Habersham County. He was a son of the late Charlie and Mary Jane Benfield Littleton.
The Rev. Littleton was a retired welder from Wabco Comp., with 36 years of service. He was in the ministry for over 50 years, where he served Mt. Vernon Holiness Church, Hollywood Church of God and Oak Valley Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Ivester Littleton, and two daughters, Delores Pless and Dorothy Littleton.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 3, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Revs. Lester Haynes and Verner London officiating. Burial was in the Zion Interdenominational Church cemetery.
The Rev. Littleton is survived by his wife, Naomi Loftis Littleton, Mt. Airy; daughters, Leona McCallister and Claudine Nelms, both of Cleveland, and Inez McCallister, Batesville; sons, Gatha Littleton, Toccoa, and Luther Littleton, Cleveland; brothers, Condard Littleton and Clarence Littleton, both of Toccoa; sisters, Myrtle Scott, Toccoa, and Para Lee Scott, Demorest; 24 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
