J.M. Dailey Jr.
J.M. Dailey Jr., 71, of Baldwin, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at his residence.
Mr. Dailey was born July 12, 1931, in Banks County. He was a son of the late Jessie Marvin Dailey Sr. and Elsie Boling Dailey. He was preceded in death by a brother, Boyd L. Dailey.
Mr. Dailey was a member of Damascus Baptist Church.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Revs. Bill Carpenter and Dennis Carpenter officiating.
Mr. Dailey is survived by a brother, Joel D. Dailey, Calhoun.
Memorials may be made to Damascus Baptist Church, 2826 Highway 198, Baldwin, GA 30511.

Tristan R. Scroggs
Tristan R. Scroggs, 2, son of Scott and Tonya Scroggs, Alto, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, following injuries sustained in an accident.
Tristan was born May 28, 2001, in Jackson County. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, A.R. Scroggs.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Rev. Leon Brown officiating. Burial was in the Alto Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include maternal grandparents, Rosa Lee Rugg and Charles Nolf, both of Alto; and paternal grandmother, Alice Jane Scroggs, Alto.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.

Grace W. Vetrano
Mrs. Grace Waldrup Vetrano, 79, of Cornelia, died Friday, June 13, 2003, following an extended illness.
Born in Habersham County on March 25, 1924, Mrs. Vetrano was a daughter of the late Augustine Thomas Waldrup and Sarah Ellen Worley Waldrup.
She retired from Ethicon after several years of service and was a member of Ethicon’s KIT Club. She was also a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church.
Mrs. Vetrano was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Vetrano Sr.
A funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 16, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church with Father Luis Zarama officiating. Burial was in the VFW Memorial Park.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Ann Rejowski, Monroe Township, N.J.; sons, Samuel Lee Vetrano, Tabor City, N.C., Frank Vetrano Jr., Lula, and Joseph Gerard Vetrano, Cornelia; sisters, Gladys Crowe, Jeanette Morgan and Ellen Bramblett, all of Cornelia; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 5410 Highway 197 South, Clarkesville, GA 30523.

Bessie M. Coffee
Mrs. Bessie Mae Moss Coffee, 92, of Alto, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at her residence following an extended illness.
Born in Banks County on April 18, 1911, Mrs. Coffee was the daughter of the late Hope Baker “H.B.” and Mary Elizabeth Davis Moss.
She was a retired Banks County Elementary School teacher who loved books and reading, and was a member of Line Baptist Church.
Mrs. Coffee was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Moss.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 13, at Line Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth McEntire officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Coffee is survived by her husband, Troy Coffee, Alto; daughters, Elizabeth Rountree, Cornelia, and Barbara Hughes, Sanford, Fla.; son, Charles Coffee, Plano, Texas; and grandchildren, Victoria Coffee and Charles Edward Coffee.
McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, was in charge of arrangements.

Ruby N. Parker
Mrs. Ruby Nell Parker, 74, of Cornelia, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at her residence following an extended illness.
Born in Rabun County on March 29, 1929, Mrs. Parker was a daughter of the late Claude R. Wall and Savannah Page Wall. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Wall, Eugene Wall and Reed Wall.
Mrs. Parker was a retired seamstress.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with Chaplain Ruth Demby officiating. Burial was in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and David Porter and Brenda and Tim Greene, all of Cornelia; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Anita Parker, Cornelia; sisters, Myrtis Roach, Dillard, Maxine Southards, Mountain City, Dorothy Stockton, Alto, and Patsy McCrackin, Lakemont; brothers, Calvin Wall, Greenville, S.C., and Billy Wall, Sioux Falls, S.D.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Gainesville, GA 30501.

Jennifer P. Loggins
Mrs. Jennifer Page Hogan Loggins, 24, of Baldwin, died Saturday, June 14, 2003, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Loggins was born March 28, 1979, in Habersham County, a daughter of Rhonda Simpson Hogan, Demorest, and the late Buddy Hogan.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist denomination.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Revs. Russ Barker and Ronald Mote officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Interdenominational Cemetery.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Loggins is survived by her husband, Chris Loggins, Baldwin; daughter, Brooklyn Loggins, Baldwin; sons, Blake Loggins and Peyton Loggins, both of Baldwin; brothers, Anthony Hogan, Nathan Hogan and Dustin Hogan, all of Demorest; sisters, Crystal Kinsey, Toccoa, and Kayla Hogan, Demorest; father-in-law and step-mother-in-law, David and Judy Loggins, Demorest; mother-in-law and step-father-in-law, Lindy and Tim Fennell, Alto; grandmother, Elizabeth Simpson, Clarkesville; and great-grandmother, Willie Mae Bramblett, Clarkesville.
The family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Johnnie Epperson
Johnnie Epperson, 89, of Monroe, died Monday, June 9, 2003.
Mr. Epperson was born in Banks County on March 16, 1914, the son of the late Lula Jane Buffington Epperson and the late Ira Timmon Epperson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Wiley Epperson.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, in the chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Blount and Dr. Charles Forrester officiating. Burial was in Hill Haven Cemetery. Eli Gulsby, Jed Gulsby, Joey Gulsby, Michael Blaylock, Wes Blaylock and Gene Culbreath served as pallbearers.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Tip McConnell and Jean and Jack Wright, all of Monroe; sisters, Betty Culbreath and Juanita Conner, both of Monroe; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.
Meadows Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

David Cook
David Cook, 62, of Com-merce, died Friday, June 13, 2003, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
A native of Habersham County, Mr. Cook was the son of the late Clinton I. and Nellie Dalton Cook.
He was a supervisor with Fieldale Corporation and was of the Baptist denomination.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 16, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Danny Green and Donald Wilson officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Crane Cook, Commerce; sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Pam Cook and Mike and Carol Cook, all of Commerce; brothers, L.T. Cook, Nicholson, and Ricky Wiley, Clarkesville; sisters, Doris Roach, Nicholson, and Barbara Stewart, Baldwin; and grandchildren, Cole and Josh, Megan and Andrew, Candace and Donald.
Little-Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Linda M. Callahan
Mrs. Linda Moore Callahan, 60, of Baldwin, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at her residence following an extended illness.
Born in Dalton on June 22, 1942, Mrs. Callahan was a daughter of Kate Hyde Moore, Powder Springs, and the late Charles Moore.
She was a Kindergarten teacher and worked with Headstart of Habersham County. Mrs. Callahan also took care of administrative duties with Mt. Vernon Towels, Inc. and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. She was an avid animal lover.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Rev. Robbie Bailey and Len Dalton officiating.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Callahan is survived by her husband, Hamlin Callahan Jr., Baldwin; daughter, Nancy Brewster, Mt. Airy; sons, Michael Callahan, Kennesaw, Hamlin Callahan III, Dunwoody, and Edward Callahan, Baldwin; brother, Bill Raper, Marietta; sister, Charlotte Harris, Dallas; cousin, Atha Slaughter Dalton, Baldwin; and grandchildren, Cari Beth Brewster, Emily Brewster and Jack Callahan.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Suite 222, Gainesville, GA 30501, or to the Habersham County Humane Society, c/o P.O. Box 725, Cornelia, GA 30531.

Sherman Mason
Sherman Mason, 82, of Alto, died Friday, June 13, 2003, at his residence.
Mr. Mason was born in Habersham County on July 5, 1920. He was a son of the late Doc P. Mason and Etta Rumsey Mason.
Mr. Mason was a graduate of North Georgia Technical School, Woodworking Division, and retired after 44 years as a cabinet maker. He was also a school bus driver with the Habersham County School System for 10 years.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Mason received the EAME Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
Mr. Mason was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Armour Mason, and brothers, Aaron Mason, Herbert Mason and Harold Mason. He was the last member of his immediate family.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 15, at Enon Baptist Church with the Revs. Clyde Garrison and Loyd Martin officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with the Rev. Paul Morris officiating at graveside. Military honors were provided by the honor guard from Ft. McPherson.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Echols, Alto; granddaughter and husband, Maria and Ed Wilson, Baldwin; and great-granddaughter, Wendi Wilson, Baldwin.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, was in charge of arrangements.
